Super helpful and friendly staff, lovely pool and sauna and a nice little gym. Location can’t be beaten and they were kind enough to change our double to a twin short notice. Decent shampoo and shower gel too!

With the pool being down stairs it would be nice to have robes and slippers. Breakfast was more expensive than expected

Wonderful Hotel in the Heart of Edinburgh! A wonderful hotel in the centre of Edinburgh, within about a 10-minute walk of the main attractions. The receptionists were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was good, and the rooms were spacious with a lovely view. We really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to come back again. Thank you for your hospitality!

Location was good. 10 minutes to base of castle, 15 minutes to end of Princess Street.

Food was very average. Uncooked batter on fish and chips meal. At breakfast, strangest scrambled eggs ever, cooked too long, crumbly, dry and no seasoning.

Luego de 20 horas de viaje entre vuelo y escalas llegamos al hotel con muchas ganas de ingresar a la habitación darnos una ducha y relajarnos, para nuestra sorpresa el hotel estaba overbooking y nos derivaron a otro hotel de menor categoría por esa primera noche. Al día siguiente cuando llegamos por la mañana, nos dijeron que todavía no estaba lista la habitación, por lo cual tuvimos que esperar a que estuviera lista. Fue una experiencia de lo mas desagradable y molesta !!. Luego de lo hemos pasado NO ENTIENDO COMO BOOKING LE DA A ESTE HOTEL UNA PUNTUACIÓN TAN ALTA !! DEBERIAN SER MAS CUIDADOSOS CON EL PROCESO DE PUNTUACIÓN. En el otro lado de la balanza Novotel nos acredito el valor de una noche y nos pago los taxis ida y vuelta al hotel alternativo.

Very disappointing experience. We paid for parking for three days, but on the second and third days we were told there were no parking spaces available, even though we had already paid. On our last night, because we needed to leave late, they made us pay for parking again. Overall, a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent Facilities, room and location. Nothing to complain from those days. The swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi were a plus and was really good to enjoy at night, after long hours walking.

La ubicación y la piscina. Un día salíamos de excursión muy temprano y les pedimos el desayuno take away y no hubo problema. Cuando vienes de caminar por toda la ciudad, darte un baño en la piscina es un lujo y si viajas con niños, mucho más.

En general, el hotel está bastante bien. Las camas son cómodas y no tenemos queja con la limpieza.

We booked during festival season, and this is a fantastic location for walking around in the old town section of Edinburgh. We were able to attend events at Fringe, the International Festival, the Book Festival, and the Royal Military Tattoo simply by walking a short distance from the hotel. It was also lovely to have a pool, hot tub, and sauna on-site. The on-site restaurant was also good.

The hot tub was lukewarm both days we tried to use it. The room was quite small and had no view - just a rooftop and other windows. However, this is to be expected with this type of prime location, and was not bothersome.

The car park was very small and narrow. It's advertised during bank holidays the time for breakfast is until 11am but I was told until 10am. The breakfast was not tasty, so I would not recommend it.

Ridiculous to pay inflated price of £350 for a Novotel and not have breakfast included - the hotel is also not worth that for the room sizes and air con was awful had to sleep with windows open on a busy noisy road so hardly slept as a family of three. The reception asked if we reported it but I said what’s the point they couldn’t replace with a modern air con unit the room was always going to be hot. Evidenced by the plug in fan in the cupboard which doesn’t help apart from circulate air.

- Extremely rude and condescending staff - Pathetic room design with sink outside the bathroom - Air cooling was not working for the room and staff without checking the room consistently pushed how we don't understand difference between conditioning and cooling and that was the problem. Later on it was confirmed the system was not working at all. - No parking available

⭐ 1/5 — Absolutely Unacceptable Stay We absolutely do not recommend this hotel. The heating and air-conditioning system in our room did not work properly. Every time we switched it on, the electricity in the room went out completely. As a result, we were left in a freezing-cold room and were unable to maintain a safe and comfortable temperature. We were staying with our child, who became extremely cold during the night and subsequently fell ill. This was not a minor inconvenience; it was a serious maintenance and safety failure that made our stay extremely distressing. A hotel should never provide guests—especially families with children—with a room where the climate-control system cannot be used without causing a power failure. The situation was completely unacceptable and ruined our stay. We are extremely disappointed and will not stay here again. We strongly advise families, particularly those travelling with children, to avoid this hotel.

Servicio: la limpieza d ehabitaciones nos falló un día, no hicoeron la cama. El día que llegamos como llegamos un poco antes de las 15.00 no s hicieron esperar hasta las 15.00 en punto para "comprobar" si ya estaba la habitación, la recepcionista no llamó para preguntar si podían agilizarlo o alomejor ya estaba preparada. PAgamos una ocupación de 3 personas ( ibamos con niño) y no estaba hecha la cama para el niño cuando llegamos , ni había toallas ni servicios para 3. Un detalle negativo por el precio que pagas. El desayuno se repite exactamente igual todos los días, aunque tiene buena calidad y es variado, pero al cabo de 7 días, podrían variar, las frutas, los dulces o algo. la piscina está...pero es pequeñita hay que rellenar un formulario para bajar.

The hotel exceeded my expectations, It was clean, it was comfortable, and it was a perfect location in the centre of Edinburgh. The breakfast was excellent, more variety of food than usual compared to other hotels - it was a good surprise. And the staff was very friendly and helpful!

The reception staff at night time were rude , unfriendly and unhelpful, we arrived back from a festival at midnight and were met by a staff member who didn’t greet us even when we were polite and asked how he was , he ignored us and was rude when I asked him if everything was ok as his reaction to us coming in said very different. Very rude and unwelcoming and if that was my staff member in my hotel he would be reprimanded . On the day of arrival we got a phone call to ask when we would be checking in as it was later in the day and we were going to be a late check in . We originally booked a queen room but by the time we checked in at 10pm at night our room had clearly been given away and we had been “upgraded “ without choice to an executive room which we did not like . We wanted a bath which was in our original room , we didn’t get that …and the shower and toilet was see through which is very strange and uncomfortable. If it hadn’t been so late on checking in and we had had such a long day we would have refused the room , obviously someone else had complained about that room earlier in the day and got our room . For the money i paid I think I should have been at least deserving of the courtesy of the option of an upgrade or to keep our original room instead of automatically been given it .

Our overall experience was somewhat disappointing given the cost. We had requested an early check-in and were initially advised to return at the standard 3:00 p.m. check-in time. When we arrived approximately 30 minutes early and asked whether our room was ready, we were again told that check-in was at 3:00 p.m. Eventually, the front desk representative agreed to let us check in, which made it seem that the room had in fact already been ready. While we understand that early check-in is not guaranteed, the interaction felt unnecessarily inflexible, particularly given that we had requested it in advance and the room was apparently available. The bathroom was also not ideal. It appeared to be an accessible/wheelchair-friendly bathroom, with no shower door, very limited counter space, and a door that did not fully enclose the room, with an opening at the top. This is not necessarily a major issue on its own, but it contributed to an overall experience that fell short of expectations.

After our early arrival the hotel stored our luggage for us as check in not til 3pm so we could head into Edinburgh. Room was good, very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was nice, our daughter enjoyed the waffle making!

Just an observation, not something we didn’t like…You need to scan room card to operate lift so as people realise this there is a lot of waiting to use lift as door opens and closes on same floor! Maybe just tell people as they check in?

Nice room. When you arrive, the location looks ok, but in 5-10min walk, there's lots of good things - you can get into the centre, and also get away into the more local/quieter area of Morningside which has a GF Bakery. Small gym and pool, but ok if you visit during quieter times, which was not difficult to find.

The largest problem was the buffet breakfast, which I paid for in advance. As a celiac, I rely on gluten-free options which they say they have, however: The bread options are : Baguette, seeded loaf, chocolate chip muffins, chocolate muffins, croissants, chocolate croissants, , bagels, sliced white bread, sliced seeded bread and waffles. The celiac option is just sliced seeded bread. The animal protein options are: eggs, bacon, sausage, haggis and black pudding. The celiac options are eggs and bacon. The cereal options are: corn flakes, granola, muesli, rice krispies, cocoa pops, bran flakes, oats, plus 6 additional add ons in jars. The celiac option is just corn flakes. So while most customers pay for a buffet of options and they get a good range. If you are gluten-free, I would not call it a buffet, instead a very limited fixed menu, and felt like a second-class guest at full fare pricing.

The toilet did not have a wash hand basin so you cud not wash your hands before you left the toilet. The bathroom was around the corner of the room The cocktails in the bar were under whelming! They did not even taste of alcohol. The Barman did not know what was in a cosmopolitan and had to look it up!

Literie très confortable. Piscine minimaliste mais quand même très agréable. Localisation parfaite pour découvrir la ville, d'autant que nous avions une chambre avec vue sur le château. Personnel charmant.

Chambre familiale beaucoup trop petite. C'est simplement une chambre pour 2 dans laquelle on a ouvert un canapé-lit. Il n'y a aucune armoire pour vider les valises, donc à 4 (dont 2 ados) dans un espace minuscule avec toutes les valises au sol, ça n'était vraiment pas agréable. Par ailleurs, nous avons eu un souci pour notre première nuit, et avons dû passer une nuit au Novotal de Glasgow. Malgré nos demandes, il n'a absolument pas été possible de faire le moindre geste (même au sein de la même chaine d'hôtel), et nous avons dû payer une seconde fois la nuit au prix plein.

El desayuno lo cortan a las 10 en punto y te ponen cortinas para que no accedas a los alimentos aunque recien hayas ingresado, muy agresivo porque si ya entraste deberían dejar que termines..

Ci è piaciuta molto la posizione, vicino a Grass Market, leggermente fuori dal flusso turistico ma comodomente vicino a tutto a piedi. Il ristorante che offre dei piatti di qualità. Sia di cibo scozzese che di alternative vegetariane e asiatiche. La colazione, buona e completa di diverse alternative. Anche la piscina è stata molto utile al nostro rientro per rilassarci e muoverci un po'.

Coffee at breakfast tasted terrible. Had to ask the staff to clean the table before we could sit down at the table we had been directed to. There was a shared duvet for the children's/sofa bed. Two single duvets would have been better for a 10 and 12 year old. The separate toilet in the room smelled of urine and was very dark. Also the door handle was difficult to turn to open the door. Car park space/ entrance and exit was ridiculously tight. All the staff were very helpful but I couldn't understand some of their English because their foreign (not Scottish or English) accent was so strong.

I don’t like the toilet being in a separate room from sink. Ltd parking and only found out about discounted parking at NCP as my husband asked. I stayed in this same hotel a few weeks back and despite talking to staff about the fact at reception that id had to park at NCP they never offered me the discount.

The location was a good one considering a lot of attractions were easily accessible by foot.

The hotel room itself was too small. Since we stayed out most of the time we were ok but if you plan to stay in the hotel the room is pretty tight. The pool is right below the reception area so it keeps smelling of chlorine the whole time you are waiting for the elevators or just sitting in the lobby.
