I think it’s time the hotel was refurbished
Location
Dirty and breakfast was poor quality
Staff at bar swearing not a care for anyone in dining area. Food was over cooked not good at all. In morning staff where late opening up horizons absolutely shocking. Staff need a good kick up the arse and more training
Its location near the hospital
Nothing
There was not a single thing that I liked about this former Asylum Hotel and it seems evident to me that the hotel was never refurbished after they left in December 2023.
I fail to see how this shabby hotel has a 4 star rating. It has very dated rooms with furniture that had clearly seen better days. The rooms were not clean, the bathroom was disgusting with mold, a broken seat and very poorly maintained. It was in need of replacing. you needed to kick to door open and shut and the bed was extremely uncomfortable and small.
Warm friendly staff
Very terrible, back-breaking and uncomfortable bed, some facilities. TV facilities not functioning. Some rooms very old
Staff were friendly
Had to ask for toilet paper at reception!
Its location was great. The food at dinner was very good too
It was very tired. The spa facilities were very old and the hot tub hardly bubbled and was cold. The carpets all need replacing in the hotel which would game a big difference and the walls need a fresh paint.
Size of the room and bathroom
The room could of been designed slightly differently or plug socket both sides of the bed
Cheap and cheerful
Breakfast
Not much
The TV did t work and connect to their WiFi just a dated hotel
There was shower but not button or tap to open it
Excellent friendly staff.

The room was a bit dated carpet and furniture wise but clean and comfortable
The furniture old and very marked and carpet looked quite old and shabby looking.
The hotel is a little dated as expected. The room was large, and the beds were comfortable. The pool was nice and warm, and the spa facilities were good value to be included in the stay. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. It's a shame that we had to book the swimming pool session, as that limited the time we had outside of the hotel, but we were only there for one night, so we had to make a sacrifice. The staff seemed to be very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of car parking space. The shopping centre was very close, with various food spots to choose from.
The bathroom did not look like it was cleaned thoroughly, as there was hair on the tiles and a bottle of shower gel on top of the shower glass door, which would have been hard to miss if the door was actually cleaned or opened to clean inside! The carpet in the room was grubby, with visible signs of wear
Room was not clean, bathroom was not great. Found it filthy and dusty. Celling looked like it had damp and painted over it. Hotel food option was basic and not worth the money. I would t return and do think there are better hotel best for value
Cleanliness, facilities were nit up to scratch. Receptionist was rude and abrupt. No manners at all.
The pool sauna steam room and gym is a nice addition
Not enough bright spaces felt to dark in lounges
When we checked out
No chef, so no food that night had children with us and not from that area so had to start googling where to go to get a meal. Had to move rooms as the toilet wouldn't work.
The whole experience.
The rooms were lovely and clean with very comfortable bedding. The bathrooms were lovely as well. The pool was great and a fabulous place to unwind after a long day travelling. Staff were brilliant and very friendly - nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay again if visiting the area!
The only issue was ongoing maintenance in the pool changing rooms, but we were still able to use the facilities. It wasn't too much of an inconvenience and these things have to be done. Again, the staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Good breakfast good location
The place is like it has never been cleaned Dirt everywhere served raw burgers blocked shower. Manager not about to complain to.
Good hotel
Gorgeous breakfast. Comfy beds and lovely warm swimming pool.
Tired and dated but didnt effect our stay
Good hotel
Very good staff, Breakfast on Saturdays doesn't start until 08.00, we had an event to get to, so had to leave before then. The staff sorted us out a couple of bacon sandwiches and pastries so we didn't miss out. Thank you
Rooms are a little tired, but this is reflected in thecprice
Location was great for access to A33. Nice to have a pool, sauna and steam room.
In need of a bit of tlc. Leaking tap in bathroom. Hope water kept making strange noises every time you used hot tap or used the shower. No bin in bathroom. Seemed to struggle with keeping up with demand at breakfast.
The pool area.
We stayed in the The ambassador room. We paid £120 for a small double and two singles. The walls had holes, ripped wallpaper, greasy handprints and the window frame was coming away from the wall. The bathroom was grim. No lights bulbs, water stained walls and lampshade. Windows were awful! Double glazing blown and could barely see out of it.
Location is great and facilities with swimming pool is good. Swimming was not busy as you have to tell the times u want to swim which is good.
Room was poor for a deluxe. No air con, no fridge, bed sheets weren’t even correct size on bed. Bedsheet was so small it didn’t cover bed, shower was broken so couldn’t close door properly which let water out. Overall poor.
The spa facilities were very good, the bar staff were amazing especially with my kids, honestly they made the trip.
The room was 3 hours late being ready, however we did get breakfast comped. However on our last day at 10am the housekeepers knocked on the door and told us to check out. Check out isn’t until 11. So this seemed like a kick in the teeth after losing 3 hours at the start to feel like we was then also being kicked out early and when I said it isn’t until 11 the housekeepers knocked had the cheek to roll her eyes and walk off. Kinda ruined it.
Pool, jacuzzi, modern feel.
Booking.com 4ppl search not linked to correct room at the hotel.
Nothing
Very poor standards
Nice and clean, friendly reception, clean swimming pool
Breakfast welcome
No air-conditioning. Hotel states all rooms have air-conditioning. A simple fan is not good enough. Uncomfortable bed and pillows Poor quality steak in restaurant Shower did not drain I have stayed in many hotels all across the world and this definitely is not 4 star as advertised
The proximity to my destination
Absolutely disgusting place
The rooms and the homeless people everywhere
Everything love it will stay here again when in area
Everything was great
Location and value for money.
Property is old and needs maintenance. Carpet has stains. Pillows wasn’t comfortable. Pool area is quite old and needs maintenance.

Everything
Well presented very convenient for my needs
Parking spaces are a bit small for larger cars
Staff were plesent and the breakfast was good, the location was good for getting about to sight see from. the parking was ok
Ok a base to sightsee from, hotel was more like a Premier Inn. it could do with a refresh, first room we were give the toilet didnt work and the bath room ight flickered like a disco light, to be honest the staff were good and upgraded us, this consisted of being moved up a floor to a room with threadbare curtins, a fan that was broken, with no main room light. Breakfast was good and understandable why its used by so many tradesmen. seeing as it was supposed to be a hotel I found it strange that you had to book a time slot to use the pool, this to would benifit from a refurb as it has tiles missing from the jacuzzi and when stepping in the first step is a really long way down not good if you have mobility issues. the bed was ok nothing special
Manager was polite and apologetic, but this wasn't good enough for the issues I experienced.
This hotel was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I had booked it for 3 nights and I ended up checking out after 1. The room was disgusting, all of walls were battered and had obvious food and drink stains all over them. The lamps were hanging off the walls, the ceiling paint is peeling off in the shower cubicle. There was a shower curtain in the shower that was questionable. The room was extremely hot and uncomfortable to sleep in. I drove for 4 hours from Runcorn, Cheshire in the North and when I arrived, there were no EV chargers at the hotel, and they were not serving any food to hotel guests because they had a coach trip there for the day! When I complained, I was told to order a Deliveroo. The WiFi in the room was shockingly poor and made it impossible to watch anything, and tele was not an option because the remote control didn't work. There is a steakhouse restaurant on the photos of this hotel when you look to book it, that's completely closed and not an option. This hotel has clearly been used to house migrants and its been ran into the ground. The photos included on this site are from 10+ years ago and do not reflect the hotel you will arrive at. I would avoid staying at this hotel. When working away, you can only rely on Booking.com photos and reviews, I suggest this hotel is updated by the site to avoid disappointing future travellers.
Air-con in lobby.
The food was not great. My mother-in-law and son did not eat their dinner due to mash and sausages not tasting right and they had put something in mash which made it taste like smash! Also, our bedroom was boiling hot the window had blown so couldn't see out. The sockets in the bedroom were all the opposite side to beds so needed extension leads for our fans (brought our own - Thank God!) The hotel could not find extension leads until 12.30am at which point me and mother-in-law had spent most of the time in lobby due to heat upstairs. The breakfast was not appetising and only had toast. Also, after breakfast finished needed to speak with reception where there were 2 other guests waiting and I found the receptionist serving himself breakfast!! No one manning the front desk. You need to book swimming which we did but ended up leaving due to experience and wanted to leave. Would not recommend.
The hotel was beautiful downstairs, but i expected more from the room for a four star hotel ... fairly basic no better than a Premier Inn.
very loud drunk guests smoking outside the hotel kept us awake
Location was easy for motorway journey
Facilities are dirty, broken and in need of repair
Staff were very welcoming, rooms were very spacious, the facilities were very good and there was a good selection at breakfast. A really good location
Just the bulbs in the rooms needed changing, and we forgot to mention this.
Easy to find good location
Hotel needs a good deep clean windows in bedroom covered in cobwebs n dust lift was filthy carpets in lift need hovering. swimming pool jacuzzi sauna steam rooms need a good clean hotel needs a revamp touch up then hotel will be a good asset
The staff was very nice at the time they were shortstaffed and I think overworked one thing that happened was we were waiting for the bar to open. The staff arrived late and then had to set the bar up putting change into the till and opening all the shutters which took quite a long time with several people waiting but that is not the staff’s fault. The staff that worked there were very very nice. We were told several people didn’t turn up for work which put a lot of pressure on the people that did work under the circumstances. They did very well all the food was delivered to all the tables as you would expect they were amazing and worked very, very hard
The stuff that we’re on duty were brilliant and under an awful lot of pressure and they handled it so well
The staff were great! Very friendly and helpful, Dinner was nice Breakfast was very good
Room wasn't ready on arrival, The hotel decor is tired and scruffy in places, Could be cleaner!
I love the pool, jacuzzi and spa .
Its very bad not to have air conditioning un an hotel especially in the very hot weather. The food options were quite limited as well
Great breakfast and great facilities. Nice clean room
All good
Lovely staff, good sized room, provided 2 fans without us asking.
Lack of air con, noisy doors
The bed was comfortable
The room was very dated, cobwebs in corners, dirty floors, stained towels, bathroom door roting at the bottom edge. Lime scale of taps and bath plug
Only the location
Check in was 3pm and room wasn’t ready till after 6 pm
Nothing very disappointing, very dirty toilet where the basin was block for my whole 2 days stay no support for the front desk, said it was 4star but I will not give this hotel 1 star
Toilet dirty with basin block for my stay there swimming pool is not clean I this they need to have a surprise visit from the respective hygiene guys will never recommend to my friends
Pool. Location near our venue
The check in for the room was very late and staff were very disorganized.
Location
Check-in was supposed to be 3 PM. We did not get in our room till 6 PM. This is totally unacceptable as we had to go to a wedding and had to wait for our room and were late for the reception.
Really friendly staff lovely hotel in village near o gliss park. Highly recommend
The location was ok that’s all it has going for it
It was dirty, the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time I walked it to old contact lens stuck in the shelf Empty contact lens open cases next to the bin There was so much mould in the shower I could wipe it with my finger and I came off so it definitely hadn’t been cleaned at all!! It is dated but decor doesn’t bother me it is the face it isn’t clean at all!!!! I didn’t want to take off my shoes
Swiiming and spa good
Fire doors being left open and food in restaurant to expensive. No. fridge either
The staff. breakfast
Everything else
It was close to the town
I was ment to have 1 super king and 1 dojble bed instead got 2 singles and a double mad the stsy uncomfortbale as we had to out 2 singkes together snd the gsp inbeetween was very uncomfortable. Also facilities were very small amd had to be on a timer for use we would be ssked to lesve sfter 30 or 40 mins depending on how busy they deemed. Our rooms tv was broken on arrival and when i asked why at the desm tbey ssid were just full book but are aware it is broken.
