Bed to soft for me
Good memory
Would not visit again if it were not for the good memories I had here before the 2020 renovation. I was assigned a room on Level 7, which was very disappointing. The rooms on Level 7 were originally servants' rooms, and if you are spending over $200 a night, you should not be staying in what feels like a servant's room. The room is advertised as 17 square metres, but it certainly does not feel that size because of the sloping attic ceiling. The lift only goes to Level 5, so you have to walk up to Level 7 via Level 6. The lift is also unavailable after 8 pm. A staff member knocked on my door despite me pressing the "Do Not Disturb" button, and then said he had gone to the wrong room. It is a beautiful historic building and I have good memories of staying here, but unfortunately the service and room experience were not particularly good this time.
Excellent property.
Lovely property.
Stunning hotel and facilities
Nothing all good
De locatie en comfortabel bed.
De kamer was vrij troosteloos en niet praktisch ingedeeld. Prijs / kwaliteit verhouding is behoorlijk scheef. Ik wilde de volgende ochtend zo snel mogelijk weg daar.

Staff simpático, hotel bem decorado e bastante agradável.
A janela do quarto não vedava muito bem. O elevador é antigo e meio chato para se utilizar.
This hotel is full of character & in a great location. The breakfast was superb!
Classic vibe and amazing rooms, I had such a good sleep here. The hotel staff are exceptional at their jobs and I would definitely stay again 10/10
Nicely restored
The room was very small
Great location, room was very clean and staff were lovely
Good location and nice decor
Our room wasn’t especially clean. The mirror was very dusty and full of finger marks.
The small space of our room was very well appointed, staff were really friendly and efficient , so lovely to stay in a part of history revamped and comfortable
Shower was very small but we enjoyed our showers. Could seem to access any Netflix just the usual few channels.
This accommodation is really well located with a short stroll to the waterfront area, the Octagon and shops. The nearby cafes are great, and the Thai massage next door was perfect.
Comfortable bed and clean
Very noisy - could hear conversations from the room next door and noise from the street. Housekeeping did not replace towels they took away.
The location was great, easy walking distance to everywhere we needed to go. While we never dined at The Press Club we have eaten there before and found the food fabulous and the staff great. This time we had a drink in the bar before heading out and the waiter's service and attention was excellent.
The only comment was that our room faced the main street and we were woken up after midnight by fighting and screaming from the street below but not sure how that could be sorted.

Beautifully styled, super staff
Beautiful hotel with great service. Lovely old building.
Shame it doesn’t have a fitness room of some sort. The dining is very expensive. Fortunately I was there for work but otherwise might go elsewhere for better value for money meal.
很有历史感的建筑,有着完好的功能性,室内装饰整体偏深色调的设计,床垫和花洒能缓解一天旅行的疲惫
衣柜镜子对着床的设计,让人略感不适,相信这会影响部分人群
The staff we incredible and so kind and helpful. The room was beautiful
Road noise was very loud.
Its so close to town perfect spot amazing stafff

The staff were friendly and very helpful when we were trying to park our rental car. The facilities were good. Used the tea/coffee making facilities and the iron and board in the room were a bonus. Great cafe across the road.
Little more space in the bedroom would have been great. Overall, a great stay and will def stay again.
The staff at this place were amazing and accomodating! Due to an unexpected snow storm we were a day late to our accomodation, the staff were very accomodating in helping us change our booking free of charge. The accomodation was in a good location and very cute and cosy in an old building.

Easy to access
A few stairs to navigate with a suitcase
Classy elegant boutique hotel
Great facilities
Very modern, very inviting very cozy
The no parking situation, I also booked a room with two single beds but we still had a king in it…
THE KITCHEN STALL WERE FANTASTIC as we are both in our late 80's we wish to share al our meals, We found them extremely accommodating so much so that we had all our excellent meals at the hotel
Access to our room on the 3rd floor, although the stall were extremely helpful. The car parking arrangement was a little inconvenient particularly in wet conditions . Although again the staff were extremely helpful
We loved the comfy beds, decor, hot chocolate, delivery of soy on request, staff were helpful & overall vibe & expectation was met.
Great location being so close to town
Good sized room. Comfy bed & good sheets. Tea & coffee machine. Short walk to the City centre.
Reception team not friendly. Wait staff at The Press Gallery restaurant
Amazing service, modern and luxurious and in a great location.
Loved everything about the property.
Staff were great.
Pillow was a bit thick for my liking.
The styling and finishes are absolutely stunning 🤩 The staff member who checked us in was exceptional and really gave the best check in experience we have had in a really long time. He knew the hotel history which we found interesting.
There’s not a single thing to dislike about this hotel!
Exceptional staff, service and accommodations - faultless
Room was very compact
Well located and friendly staff
Went to use the jug to make a coffee and the previous people must of used it to cook noodles. The mini bar had a tray of old strawberries and blueberries in it.
Cleanliness and design
It was an incredible place, highly recommend!
The bed looked different to the photos so wasn’t as comfy as I would have liked.
Was passing through Dunedin on our way to Bluff - We have stayed at the Fables before and it is lovely. Excellent Customer Service, friendly staff. We got a room upgrade which was very exciting. Recommend you to stay here, it truly is a wee gem.
This hotel is as beautiful as pictured. My travel plans changed a couple of times prior to my arrival due to flight changes beyond my control, and the hotel managed those changes very professionally. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with a delicious non-alcoholic drink. When I temporarily experienced a problem with my credit card going through due to a fraud alert, I was still able to check in with no problem by providing a secondary credit card for holding. Reasons for 4 stars instead of 5: (R1) I experienced a problem later in the evening after the credit card issue had been resolved, and I wanted to use the original credit card for holding. There was a different person at the counter, and he was very rude. Although he wasn't there when I checked in, he was trying to tell me what did and didn't happen instead of simply switching out the credit cards. I didn't catch his name, but he had a tall, slender build and a French accent. Thankfully, I had no problems when checking out. (R2) The shower design caused water to flow everywhere! I had to use extra bath mats and slippers, which were provided.
Location & size of room excellent. Service wonderful
$40 per day extra for parking
decor is amazing
The shower was terrible, the pressure was no good. And I felt like I was rolling into the middle of the bed all night.. like there was a dip in the mattress or something.
The bed was extremely comfortable with a quiet room. Curtains blocked out all light and was a pleasant sleep. Bar staff were friendly and very helpful on where to go for day trips.
The receptionist on arrival was cold and not very welcoming, and had the same experience the next morning with a completely different receptionist. Checking out on the Sunday we finally received a friendly welcome from a lovely lady behind the desk. The bathroom had a really old dirt smell coming up from the drain while showering.
The staff at the Fable Dunedin are second to none! They could not have been more helpful for a guest who had someone in hospital and was under a lot of stress. They made accommodation one less thing to worry about.
Good breakfast and dinner. Location excellent
Parking is not great as you have to move the vehicle during the day to avoid parking fines.
