Scenic Hotel Dunedin City

Spacious. Everything as per listing on Booking.com. Allocated a room no. 714 with a beautiful view of the waterfront and sunrise. Soundproof windows cut out any ambulance noise. Staff were efficient, friendly and forthcoming. Floors in lift are activated by the cardkey so it is great for solo and female guests. The city bus stops and good F&B estabs are within walking distance. The distance to/fro Intercity bus Hub is ok.

Food spread for buffet Breakfast was quite basic but the beverages spread was better. Would be better if the hangers in the wardrobe were changed to normal ones. They kept falling off.

I was assigned a room with an inter connecting door, a solo female traveller shouldn't be allocated these rooms without asking if OK? I had to move..I was also charged for paying by card which was not advised, had to wait gor the refund, second attempt was also wrong...could do without this whilst on holiday! Credit card held....I am totally opposed to this...make people pay as they use services so you don't penalise the majority of people who always pay!!

Our room and the entire hotel is in excellent condition. The finish and design features in the bathroom have been upgraded with intelligence. Free live streaming was a welcome feature that we have not encountered before. Ground floor facilities and restaurant are excellent with great service and good range of food and drinks. On departure during our return to the airport we were informed that our flight was cancelled and moved moved by 2 days! On contacting the hotel they were incredibly helpful with an extension and shifting bookings so that we could return to the same room. The reception staff must be commended for their service as it turned a challenging holiday event into an "extended pleasure". We thank you again.

Room was ok. But I’d prefer to be told I’m being given an accessible room (I don’t need one) as I don’t like the shower. The people next door were disruptive. Handled well by the hotel but not a great experience

The location was excellent - within short walking distance of restaurants and the centre of town. The staff were extremely helpful and kind. Olga went over and above to arrange to have my phone recovered from the elevator shaft after I dropped it in accidentally - over a long weekend. Thank you so much!

the room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the location was very convenient as it was close to the places I need to visit for work.

it could have done with a good vacuum as there was a small amount of rubbish still on the carpet looked like a section of the carpet was missed

Staff, curly hair glasses girl asked her for robes she replied they only for executive rooms i said I am in executive room in which she said well there cant be any then thats house keeping job, I thought she was absolutely rude, no attempt to help

The staff were welcoming and efficient. Our room was spacious, warm and comfy. The bed so cosy. And, location was perfect for us. Overall, a great experience.

Food suggestion - don’t stay here for the food!!! Chef has some learning to do. (1) $32 special! Soup and main. Our large group experience - soup came when reminded - tasty with small bit of soggy bread. We chose as our mains - very thin 1 piece of fish or chicken sliver, 4” long if lucky, too well cooked, so tiny on a bed of lettuce 3/4 of the plate with some soggy chips. MANY complaints heard. Would be better to concentrate on a good main special. (2) Actually gave them a second attempt with mains dinner of ribs, coleslaw chips - much better but chef needs to learn that ribs need a little final cooking at a higher heat to actually set the sauce rather than a boiled look and taste. (3) Breakfast - not the rating this Hotel is attempting to hit! Do you actually use eggs or egg powder for the scrambled wet eggs looked definitely unappetising! Everything lacks setup - few slices of one kind of bread, dry mushrooms, half hearted small bowl of muesli, coffee machine lacked milk - nothing seems to be replenished even if you go 1/2hr after opening. Food wise I did wonder who is in charge - the CHEF, Duty Manager, Manager or ???

The location was great, very close to Octagon & Railway Station

Was very surprised at the size of the room we stayed in which was huge for the price we paid compared to other others we have paid more for way smaller room. Beds where comfortable and room very clean.

Complementary nexflix or other tv apps login as guests would have been appreciated. Since no one can remember there own logins. So we couldn't watch tv. Also one of the lights by the window kept flickering. Bigger bath towels would have been a nice touch.

Staff were friendly. Bed was comfy and room very spacious.

The breakfast layout was unusual, not easy to find what you were looking for. Some items were on the opposite side of the room to the rest.

Fantastic and great people work here and make you feel at home

Firstly, there was excellent communication before we had we even arrived, especially regarding the parking availability. Check-in was seamless and the lovely lady who checked us in was observant and considerate. The room was fantastic, couldn't fault it. The room was well equipped, spacious, comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay again.
