Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner

I liked how the hotel was in a great location for easy access and easy transportation!

Their room was good BUT one of the staff tried to make me pay more than what I paid for online! It was crazy! Thankfully the manager was there when I checked out and he fixed the issue.

Bed was nice. Room was clean.

Pool was disgusting. Mold all over in it. Nasty looking things floating inside water. Inside building floors everywhere were very unclean.

The nice walk of .3 miles to the convention center was nice. The staff was very friendly. I did not have a car to park, but the parking lot seemed large and open.

The delayed check in process. Also, the original room assigned was not what I booked. That delayed my check in as well. The hotel elevator was heard all night long. That made my stay more stressful than it should have been.

I like that it was centrally located to all of Boise. The staff was helpful and friendly. I liked the pool! I loved the ambiance of the front lobby. Room was clean and the bed was soft.

The whole hotel needs some remodeling. There was a patio connected to the room that seemed creepy. It was another point of entry, that made me feel uneasy. At one point there was a man that was "checking the glass" and could see inside the room. The carpets were old and duct taped together. It just needed some updating

The hotel is very rundown. The floors and hallways were dirty and needed vacuuming. The floors in our room were filthy. Our shoes were sticking to the floor. The bathroom floor was dirty. The security lock on the door was broken. The breakfast was mediocre at best. Breakfast was supposed to be served for approximately 3 hours. Every day that we went there was barely anything left and what was left was cold.

Homeless people camping in the parking lot. The building itself was dilapidated and run down. Smelled like smoke inside. The hallways had duct taped on all kinds of surfaces instead of being properly repaired. It was overall disappointing and I wish I had stayed somewhere else.

Awful! The room had No heat two disgusting blankets were brought to me that felt like fiberglass. Froze all night the room was gross and I will never stay there again!!! The floors all carpet and I was at the end of a hall after passing several doors that looked to be baracated awful feeling never again. So disappointed I have lived in Boise for several tease and that is not how they would ever alow and guest to stay .

The workers are very good people. I start work very early so didn’t have breakfast there and I didn’t use the internet there.

In the gym, there is are missing weights. There is not a full set of dumbbells.

The place is a dump. It’s dirty, in disrepair and the electronic door locks fail. I had to get a new key card 4 times in 2 days, which is incredibly frustrating. In addition, the desk chair in the room was broken and the cushion was torn. How it remained in a room was beyond me.

The staff had no idea what they were doing. We booked through booking.com and they accepted our payment but when we arrived they said they couldn’t use the same payment for the $200 deposit. After a bunch of back and forth trying to figure something out (because neither me or my partner has a credit card) they said they would give us a full refund for our troubles and that the booking was cancelled since we couldn’t get our room. Fast forward we had to call them again because on our booking.com website it said we were still being charged for our 4 nights at that hotel mind you we already left and had to find another hotel to stay at but they infact did not cancel our stay so I had to call the hotel again Tiffany helped us twice and she was the one who said they did infact cancel the reservation and that I should get my full refund but it would take 5-10business days it is now way past that and we still have not received our full refund and booking.com still registered the reservation as not cancelled so now this horrible establishment has not only taken our money but I’ve been having to fight with booking.com, the hotel itself, and my bank to try and get that money back. I’m beyond disappointed and disgusted with this place. The pictures for this hotel are not up to date. It reeks of cigarette smoke everything looks run down the staff has no idea what they are doing and have horrible customer service. If I could give this establishment -5 stars I would do not go here! You are better off staying anywhere else other than here.

The hotel was in bad shape. It is not a three star hotel as described. The elevator was loud, sounded broken and it shared a wall with our room. Our corner upgraded room was not a corner and we paid extra for it even though it wasn’t available. The view was a run down part of the hotel. What we booked is not what we got.

Rooms are in bad shape! Almost seems like they’re housing homeless people? I stayed there about 10 years ago and it was one of the nicer hotels in Boise. I think it would be cleaner and safer to stay at a motel 6. Really has gone downhill!

I have nothing good to say about this place.

Absolutely do not book this hotel. The carpet had questionable stains in the very dim hallway that looked like either vomit, blood, or sauce in a dried up puddle and not cleaned, carpet was taped together and rippled. The room wasn’t any better. Everything was visibly dirty. There were no bed skirts just visible mattresses, only two pillows, not at all what was pictured in the listing. The floor was dirty and badly scratched up, curtains had stains, there was an odd mildew smell throughout, the ceiling was flaking away and stained from what looked like a bad water leak. It was giving horror movie vibes. I didn’t even want to set my stuff down in that filthy room so I immediately went back to the front desk and explained that the room was not at all what was pictured and that everything was visibly dirty. The front desk guy who was just wearing a tee shirt and no name tag stated that there was nothing they could do since I booked through Booking.com. Booking should definitely consider taking this property off of their site. It should not be open to the public. I had to book a different hotel which was very inconvenient and costly.

Very disappointed that the 2 queen beds that we had reserved was not actually available due to the system allowing the reservation. I had traveled over 4 hours with my 16 year old and 15 year old kids.

Breakfast was good.

Everything was out of order or broken. Pool, ice machine, restaurant, laundry service. Nothing was available. Room was filthy. Floors were so dirty the bottom of my feet ere black and im not exaggerating.

The close proximity to the venue.

Our ceiling was leaking and the balcony door didn’t lock and it was very hot. Trash from long term neighbors sat in the hallway for a long time and stunk up the floor.

I have never been more disappointed in a hotel. Definitely not what the website looks like. Completely catfished. I went to take my daughter to college and was so excited for the location and the pictures. First of all someone needs to take the trash out! The front entry walk way the trash was overflowing the entire 3 days I was there. It was never emptied! Overflowing all over the sidewalk. Secondly the hallways have duct tape on the carpet, so gross. The TV in the room did not work, we had a patio on our room, covered in trash, so we just closed the curtains and didn't even go out. We thought we would go to the pool, went that evening and it looked like a party was going on, men drinking beer listening to music, so we left. The next day we went back to the pool and to my surprise the pool was filled with mold and moss, could not even get in! There was a large knife on the table, one lounge chair that was ripped and broken and again an over flowing trash can full of beer cans and like 3 BBQ grills, Im assuming people live there. Neither of the two restaurants were open to even eat on location. I tried calling the front desk several times, no answer. When I let the front desk know he never even asked for my room number. I have never felt so gross staying somewhere in my life. I looked for another room and everything was booked because of college move in. If anyone is reading this DO NOT STAY AT THE RED LION INN BOISE. So GROSS!!!

Was never told at check in that room was only serviced if requested. Had to get own towels. When I did request service, it was never provided. Staff said new manager was not very up to par.

The staff was very pleasant and accommodating, considering the absolute shit show the rooms and noise from the elevator. I was told the staff members live on the sixth floor, where they put me after the first night because I was put into the very last room when I checked in and it looked like it had been in a crime scene mold in the tub. The door frame was blown out and half assed back together horrible room that’s when they moved me to a room that I had previously requested. I wanted to be in the tower and preferred a corner so the next morning they ended up moving me to the sixth floor room 616 if I’m not mistaken, which is right behind the elevator, the elevator is the noisiest piece of crap and apparently it has been like that for quite sometime and all I listen to all night all morning all the time I was in the room was the stupid elevator noise and it’s not a little bit of noise. It is got something majorly wrong.

And another issue was after the first night in the sixth floor room. I asked if they had anything else that they can move me to again and at the time they said no therefore by this time it was Friday morning, so I had to do some running around before I head out to the event that I was working and I asked if I can get my room cleaned considering when I went out of my room in the morning around 915 Ish there were piles of linens in the hallway and I asked the lady at the front counter if I can get my room clean and linens changed while I was out and she said yes it should not be a problem. I came back 2 1/2 hours later and nothing had been done. I went back downstairs and explained to her that nothing‘s been done yet and shit took her by surprise she thought it had been finished so she made a call and she says go ahead and have a seat which I did in the lobby and just relaxed and had a cuppa coffee and waited two more hours before the room got cleaned other than the staff being extremely nice and understanding the hotel is a shit hole rundown wore out and I seen some funky ass look almost like homeless individuals coming and going don’t know if somebody’s got some situation going on with helping people out, but it was pretty sketchy at times and also on Saturday night I got out of the event a little early so around 730 Ish I was gonna go down to the downstairs restaurant bar and have a little dinner and a drink and when I walked up, it was closed went to the front counter and asked the gentleman at the counter. Why wasn’t the bar restaurant open and he proceeded to tell me that apparently the bartender didn’t come to work and they have nobody else that can run it

Completely dilapidated building. Some of the doors had duct tape on them on our floor, duct taped carpet, wallpaper peeling off of the walls everywhere (in huge pieces in the hallway). Giant stains all over the carpet. We joked that it looked like a murder scene in the hallway. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

The whole property is run down. The air conditioner in my room didn't work, so it was far too hot to sleep and the remote for the TV also didn't work. I understood that breakfast was included, but a) it ended at 9am, so I missed it anyway, since I didn't get in until after midnight so slept poorly and b) apparently cost $7 per person. The ice machine on my floor didn't work, the lock on the pool gate was also broken and the carpet was repaired with what appeared to be duct tape in several spots I noticed between the elevator and my room. As I said, the property just seems very run down and in dire need of updating.

Ask for towels never received any when promised!!!! I called and called to complain they said they would take care of the problem they never showed up !!!!! No tv, no Thermostat to turn on AC room (s)/facility had black mold and lots of water damage. We could not sleep because it was hot in the room. The only reason I chose to stay in a hotel and not set up my camper was to get a good nights rest in an air-conditioned room tired of miserable the next day talk to front desk about it and they said there was nothing they could do and that I had to contact Booking.com. I don’t think maybe it’s wise to use Booking.com by using them forfeits any responsibility the property may have concerning your stay.

i liked how spacious the room was.

a lot of things were damaged in the room upon arrival. the bathtub didn’t drain well. when showering you had to stand in a rising pool of water and after being done showering it took some time to drain down.

It was absolutely disgusting, the sheets were all stained, the AC did not work and the pool was green! That was the second time in my life that I had to leave a hotel. We left immediately after seeing the room.

It was so unbelievably bad that I was unable to keep my reservations because it was uncomfortably disgusting inside the building all the way up to the hotel room.

I didn't like that I wasted time going to the hotel to find out that it was absolute dumpster fire. Disgusting and completely unacceptable I couldn't imagine anyone actually staying there.

The rooms was falling apart. Smelled like smoke and urine. Floors dirty, temperature in the room was hot and humid. Thermostat didn’t work. Bed were not comfortable. Shower had mold and wasn’t clean. Felt unsafe, and nauseous so to all the above. Hotel needs major work in all forms. Would not recommend to anyone to stay there. It was expensive with no sense of comfort and security.

The hotels needs to be better managed. For the price you pay it should be making the necessary repairs and up grades. Offer what they say in the adds. The restaurant , pool, and rooms. All need a lot of work. Cleanliness needs to be a priority as well.

For the price this has been the worst hotel I’ve ever been to. Where do I start, the pool and hot tub are bright green, I found a roach in my bathroom. My room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. The cobwebs in the staircase and wall paper peeling off with what looks to be mold or dried glue. YouTube and Netflix doesn’t work on the tv. This hotel looks like it hasn’t been updated or changed in 67 years. The hall ways stink and the carpet is stained and not cleaned. My room door only unlocks when it wants to. The pillows are yellow and stained, the pillow cases were yellow, the mattress frame is stained yellow and red with some other questionable substances smeared on it, the seat inside the room has dried food stuck to it and in between the cushions were hair and so much more. The floor has human hair all over it and god knows what else. The sliding glass door rail is completely packed full of dirt, dead bugs, hair, and so much more. I thought I could fight through until the cockroach but omg, this has been the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ve stayed at a $40 a night motel 6. This place is a health hazard. Please have a manager reach out because this needs to be fixed. Yall cannot be charging people this much for what it is. Definitely not a 3 star hotel this is a half star or 1 star hotel. It had a good location and an impressive lobby. The check in process was easy and the front desk agent pleasant. The room was clean, the balcony and view were nice, and the pillows very comfortable.

Not a lot of information was provided, such as hours of the pool. A welcome book or something in the room would have been nice. The room was clean, but the hallways were filthy and the property poorly maintained. I travel with a low budget, so am used to this type of hotel environment but I was surprised to see it with a Red Lion nametag.

It was dirty, run down, in a bad neighborhood, sketchy, smelled like cigarettes and weed smoke, and it over all was not a pleasant stay, in fact when i got there i started looking for new places to stay

It was quiet...but it WAS a Wednesday night.

For starters, when we got to the hotel, there were 6 other guests, besides us, waiting to check in, for about 15 minutes. I had reserved a king balcony room, but there wasn't one available, so ended up with a standard king. I realize the hotel is older, but was surprised at how in need of repair most things were. The carpet in the halls was taped together, the wallpaper in the bathroom was either peeling or missing in spots, the light switch plate in the bathroom was broken, the shower walls weren't the cleanest, and there was some kind of suspect switch on the wall that seemed to go to nothing. It was starting to get dark when we went down to the pool, so I can't say for sure the condition, but it looked a bit murky and didn't get in. Again, I realize its older, but for $150 for the night, I hoped for something a little better. A little regular maintenance could probably fix most of these things.

The hotel is in a good location but the building is old and a bit rundown. The air conditioning didn't work well, so the front desk gave us a fan. The shower drain was clogged so even showering was unpleasant. The hotel is understaffed but they do the best they can to be helpful.

The floor turned my feet black. I asked to use the mop to clean my room, they told me they would mop it. So I had to take my kids and pets out of the room while they mopped, when I came back in my floor was still dirty. I had to buy my own mop to get my floor halfway clean. Also I was almost robbed in the parking lot, very shady people staying there. There is a strip club right across the street with naked girls sitting out front constantly, selling themselves. I have children and it was very disturbing. Also I paid for a poolside room that did not have access to the pool from my room because they had the gate padlocked.

There was no lock on the balcony door and the glass was also cloudy dirty. There door to the room was broken and had to be held a certain way to be opened.

When you arrived at the hotel, the entry was very dirty with piled up trash and littered walkways. Glass doors and windows were filthy. Landscaping wasn't kept. Inside the carpets were dirty and bunched up in places, great for tripping on. Elevators weren't swept or vacuumed. Floors in room was sticky. Sliding glass door lock didn't lock, had to change rooms. Furniture was scuffed and worn badly.

We had to try 2 rooms. In our first room, we switched rooms because our shoes majorly stuck to the floor. It was very gross, like a soda had spilled on the floor. In the 2nd room, we had to have the front desk clerk come set up the tv. Even after that, the sound cut out a few times/minute. One of the cords on the back of the box was taped. In both rooms, the A/C fan was very loud and rumbling. On the positive side, the bedding looked and felt wonderfully clean and white. The beds were very comfortable, There were large chips off the bottom of the door, and several dings in the walls with no paint. This all could have been fixed with a little touch up paint. The carpet in the hallway, and the rooms all just felt out of date and tired. This hotel gives Red Lion a very bad name. We will NOT ever stay here again, and will tell our friends to avoid it as well.

The rooms were really nice. The carts to bring your stuff up were really loose. The ac was ..okay...but it was like really hot too so it would have been nice to have better ac. Rooms were pretty good. I loved the balcony. The pool was ..okay. breakfast was ok. The staff was PHENOMENAL they really were great and worked with me on everything I needed.

We had read some bad reviews but we were very happy as it was exactly what we needed. The hotel is very old and could do with renovations but because the staff were all so friendly and helpful this fully made up for it! Thanks so much for the best 4th July (we are from New Zealand).

The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. They were experiencing booking issues and called me to ensure we would get our room, which was thoroughly appreciated!

While the room was clean, there were broken facilities that were difficult to ignore. The beds were rolling cots, which was pretty janky considering the price. The hallways on our floor was pretty ugly. The floors were covered in duct tape and there was a terrible smell.

There is more duct tape than carpet in the halls, some doors have holes patched by tape. Wall paper is peeling. The comforters had holes in them. The headboard had a sticky red spray over it that we had to wipe clean ourselves The ceiling in the shower looked like it had been patched badly and was falling apart. Despite all of this, the mattresses were surprisingly comfortable, the wifi worked well, and there was coffee in the lobby.

The entire place. Will not stay here again. I do not blame the staff but the maintenance is so fair sub par that I felt like I was staying in a set for a murder hotel movie.

The staff was nice. It is clearly a very relaxed work environment. They were joking around, cussing a little (didnt bother me), and teasing guests and eachother.

The hotel is kind of scary. It is very dimly lit. The doors are all broken, so you have to park up front and walk a LONG way to your room. There is literally duct tape holding the carpet together and down (poorly). The pillows were dirty. Our door looked like it had been broken down at 1 point, ao to get it to lock, we had to set the deadbolt and that uppwr latch...which we would have done anyway to feel safe. The "a/c" kind of worked, but yoy have to turn the "fan" or to distribute the air and its SO LOUD. Not to mention the outside looks like a good place to do a drug deal. The pictures on the site are absolutely NOT accurate. The only reason we stayed is because they wouldn't refund our money. Thank God my husband was with us, because there is NO WAY my elderly mother and I would have felt safe staying alone.

It is very run down, looks dirty and the carpet was taped throughout the hotel. The bathroom floors were dirty, beds were clean but overall just looks old and dirty. Would not stay there again.
