Location
TV not working informed staff twice nothing done, very limited menu for evening meal, no staff on reception to report faults.
The staff have always been great. During this stay, Dinesh, Stephen and Thomas were very helpful and friendly and handled every question and requirement. The breakfasts were excellent as well. The room was always clean, with daily housekeeping service. The location couldn't be better for easy walking to shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. I've visited Bradford several time over the past few years and have always stayed at the Great Victoria, and I've never been disappointed.
I had a room on the west side of the hotel, and in the afternoon, it became a bit too warm with the afternoon sun on a hot day.
Great location and friendly staff
Hotel bedrooms are on the old side and my bed didn’t have a mattress cover on this time
My stay started well however there was a leak at 1:30am from the ceiling of my room which woke me up and I had to move rooms, the room I moved to wasn't ready for guests. There was no staff around to speak to when I checked out and I have contacted the hotel and booking.com and not had a response. Overall, ive had a poor experience with this hotel
The room was beautifully played out and the bed clean and comfortable
They were by their own admission short staffed. Had go from penthouse and reception 3 times as key card didn't work upon arrival. Internet was not connected in room for tv and had to wait over 2 hrs for someone to come and sort after 2 reminders. Was ment to have 24 hr room service. No phone to order this, and when questioned about it. They have removed the phones as will now be on a QR code which is not set up yet. Was told I would need to call the front desk from my mobile to order. I tried 3 times and there was no answer. I booked the penthouse suit and as nice as thw room was, I could take full advantage of this.
Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was beautiful. Beds were very comfy and everything was clean
Me and my partner were away on our mini honeymoon and went to use the bath to then find out that the bath was leaking and water leaked everywhere as the overflow pipe was not secured and the tiles were cracked. The toilet did not have a functional flush system as that was partly in pieces. We then got moved to another room where the bathroom was alot bigger however the stand alone tap was broken for the bath, the blinds were broken on the windows and the grouting of the shower was mouldy
Wziąłem pokój z telewizorem który był pęknięty i nie nadawał się do użytku.
We have stayed before but we were very disappointed this time.
Under new ownership, and everything was all over the place. The staff did what they could in reception. Computer system wouldn’t work, nothing left in the bar. The room wasn’t very clean corners caked in dust. Bathroom had mould. Nothing like our stay, before.
Breakfast ok room not ready to wait a bit then gave us another room then turned tv on would not turn off or anything else lad came to look at it he could not sort it left on he went tv turned itself off in time so no tv no phones for room service as stated no restaurant as stated could not get the wifi as stated free wifi breakfast menu stated fried bread and toast with breakfast neither got so a bit dissapointed used all my data on my phone so feel a bit let down really no offer of a deduction or nothing when left just rokm key put in a box so could not eben say anything as no one on desk said designated smoking area it was just stood outside the hotel really so not impressed at all
See above
Location and staff were helpful
Breakfast was a little expensive
The building
Staff no food no drink utterly discgracefull
Great location
very tired hotel and needs an upgrade.
Nice building , great location
Paid for a superior double and there was a stain on the sheet , stains on the carpet , a rip in the chair , and at breakfast time no one welcomed us and all the tables where covered in dirty plates
Overall good experience
Only thing i liked location and you have parking
Room doesn’t have Ac or Heater gives you fan windows can’t open they gives you reason windows can’t open because of the security toilet seat was broken
Very freindly staff
The bed in the room we were first given
so nice and clean and loved top floor
the wifi didn’t work in the room
Excellent location! Right in front of Bradford Interchange. So convenient for those, like me, using public transport & for city centre venues. Very close to Little Germany, The Science & Media Museum, The Alhambra & so much more. Fabulous old building. Staff are very welcoming & friendly. Cooked breakfast was excellent, including vegetarian options. Two electric fans in bedroom as well as tea making facilities. Lovely toiletries. Bath as well as shower. Lots of hot water. Comfortable bed. Room service menu available. Quiet room on side of hotel. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
It's a beautiful old hotel, so floors can be squeaky, windows can be a bit tricky to open & close. The room carpet does need a deep clean. The mattress does need a cover. I think the decor was updated some years back & maybe could have been more sympathetic to its era in decor choices, while still modernising it.
The location and decor is amazing
Room 106 ,you can't go to the toilet there isn't enough room to get your legs in
It’s such an iconic hotel and I can’t say anything bad about it The room was great and comfortable we had a lovely sleep the breakfast was fab And the staff were so helpful and one in particular who brought us room service I think his name was Larry , he went above and beyond Thanks Larry
The location was great
The fact that the hot hot water didn't, even though I changed room 3 times. Staff weren't proactive and never gave me a straight answer. No satisfactory resolution was made.
Overall the room was nice but couldn't open the window as it was painted shut so was very hot amd the food was awful some overcooked some undercooked and the sandwich was left under a light so was awful
Food was vile
Service, location
Cleanliness, dusting required.
Excellent location opposite Bradford Interchange.
No air conditioning. Windows cannot open. Noise from street at night. Tatty carpet and fittings.
The staff were extremely hospitable and very welcoming, and the ambiance of the venue was quite pleasant.
Not available.
The decor is dated but it was clean and tidy
The decor
Looked nice from outside and ideal location
I was told when booking our room would be accessible but the accessible rooms with walk in showers were on floors high up which the lift does not go to. My partners wheelchair could not fit through the door of the room!
Good location . Big Room . Evening staff at bar very polite . comfortable bed The breakfast is huge
Big Hotel which makes the atmosphere a little flat . On arriving it was difficult to find as so many roads have been closed or for buses only . The carpark although big was difficult to realise it was part of the hotel and lead to my driving into a road only for buses. Clear signs should be put at front of carpark telling customers it is for hotel use and not just a general carpark. Front desk staff hidden in office behind desk so on arrival it felt no one was there , carpark is not free and needs paying so description also misleading . £50 DEPOSIT taken on arrival and still not put back into my account 48hrs later ! NO airconditioning in rooms and incredibley hot with no ability to open windows and keep them open which really needs looking at because if you have no aircon you need to open window
Great location and attentive staff
The rooms are slightly dated.
Building
Environment
Mattress was broken, they had no replacements or any other rooms. No alternative other than a mattress topper which wouldn’t fix the issue as the mattress would sink to to the bottom with no pressure
Location, exterior and entrance.
Moth eaten carpets. Stained bath. TV at poor angle and not adjustable, noise from wedding party vibrating the floor.
Bed was comfy, the room was cozy
Bed was comfy, the room was cozy but £71 without breakfast included was not value for money
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Beware of the poorly kept hygiene and bed bugs at this hotel, i was bitten all over after staying one night at this hotel. We came down as a family from London to attend a wedding the next day and had booked 3 rooms. we had to change 2 rooms, 1 due to It being dusty and the other smelling like sewer. I would not recommend staying here.
staff service was very poor, every day not giving bath towel in room have to ask every day no room services, even can't get bot.of watwer to buy.
so far every thing
I liked that the room was big, the bed was comfy, the toilet was clean and most importantly, the location was superb
Nothing I can think of
Called earlier to request flowers in the room as a surprise for my new wife. They were really nice.
The receptionist informed us that the flowers had been done upon our arrival. Spoiling the surprise. Not great. The TV didn't work.
Good room - clean and comfortable - great location for Bradford centre and parking
Request fir £50 deposit - it was repaid but only notified after booking.
The only things I think could be improved were the sausages and the scrambled eggs, otherwise all delicious.
Nothing other than the above.
Location Great room Really friendly and helpful staff Nice breakfast
Nothing
Position
Friendly & helpful staff Breakfast was good. Particulally liked the friendliness of Andrew the Chef
The Hot water in the room was cold
Love this hotel; wonderful old Victorian building, fantastic location, staff are great, breakfast very good.
Building feeling its age sometimes. There's been a change to the car parking to one of those awful apps.
Very nice
The breakfast was dry sausage was hard that is the only thing that I could complain about I wouldn’t recommend breakfast
Clean, comfy, great location
No fan in the room
Unfortunately it’s beautiful but the stay was ruined by the room being like a sauna and having the windows screwed shut by the hotel so there was 0 free flowing air and also no other escape access in case of a fire as if the doorway was blocked we wouldn’t have been able to leave. Eventually this was sorted by one of your employees who went through each available room for us so we didn’t have to sleep in our car due to the extreme temperatures of the original room 221. He then put us in 216 which was a lot better
Heat, no air flow
It is mainly my type of architecture (Victorian). Spacious. Central location. Peaceful. Value for money.
Maybe upgrade the gym. Would be nice to have like a pool, but it's not what it is for.
we always stay here when we visit Bradford.it the best hotel weve found
La ubicación y la arquitectura que tiene
Staff
Comfy and spacious room Cheap price Good location
the Cupboard rail was broken so couldn't hang anything up No bath towel No one on reception when I arrived Gym Treadmill not working and exercise bike faulty I parked in the Court car park nearby after a very long drive earlier in the day and asked the receptionist how to drive round to the hotel car park . He said " you need to drive round " a hich was annoyingly obvious . Then I parked outside to unload my luggage and asked if my car would be ok for a few minutes and he said "you'd better be quick " . I don't think he meant to be rude but he certainly wasn't helpful . And I had to wait for quite a while in the first instance for someone to attend reception .
The room was very, very hot in fourth floor rooms are completely not nice for leaving
Close to the town centre. Excellent location as we were there for one day only.
The reception staff Steven was courteous and helpful at all times. He helped us when we needed it. He is an asset to the hotel and many can learn from him the warm welcome that we received from him.
Outside seating
Rooms were too warm Staff unhelpful Property run down plug sockets hanging off walls handled missing off doors
Breakfast
Room was too warm during the hot weather
Stayed here many times before because it's central, easy to find and park. Not this time! I pulled into the car park and noticed that the sign was now demanding that I download an app in order to pay rather than pay at the reception as previously. I went into the reception to see if there were other options and there aren't. I don't download apps on a whim so I left and parked in the shopping centre nearby. A week later I was hit by a £100 fine for being in the car park for those 5 minutes it took to confirm. I've now been in a dispute with these people for 2 months. Who needs this kind of hassle resulting from a one night stay at a hotel where I didn't even use their car park. Payment terms may now be in the "small print" but why would a returning customer be reading the small print each time? I will never use this hotel again. It may be an external owner - but this is the partnership they have chosen to go with. This is the hospitality industry in the UK these days: Corporates just trying to screw as much money as possible from us with minimal return.
Bathroom only thing was nice
No windows allowed to be opened no AC no fridge
The breakfast was lovely.
The bath tub had some brown liquid substance
Location was fantastic 👌 Building looked very impressive 👏
The room needs updating. The carpets are thread bare.. Bathroom had a horrible smell ,Like stagnant water. Breakfast room was a shambles. No teabags. Croissants tasted fishy.. dirty plates on most tables.
The location
The rooms are slightly dated and things were missing like lightbulbs and glass shower doors
The location of the hotel to the venues and train station
Dirty pillowcases, broken TVs, someone's shoes under a bed, cutlery under the bed, carpet not very clean, the shower wasn't very clean
The property is a lovely building with a lot of history and character
The room I stayed in (and probably most of the others!) is definitely over due a makeover. The walls looked dirty with scuff marks. I was unable to close the window so could hear street noise and commotion late into the night, and was woken at 7am by building works directly outside the building.
Near the centre of city.
No windows to open. No air con. Bedroom hot and stuffy
Spacious clean room. Comfortable bed. Friendly helpful staff, Close to all amenities
Breakfast could have been better
We stayed at this hotel for one night following a theatre visit and I really can't fault it for the money we paid, yes the breakfast could have been better but was ok, our room was spacious and clean, very comfortable beds. Staff were very friendly and helpful asked for a fan due to extreme heat and in room when we returned later in the evening. Very enjoyable stay, would highly recommend, make up your own minds and ignore bad reviews.
Everything
Friendly Staff
The bathroom had a large step before you got into it. No walk in shower . And the window had clear glass in it and not frosted glass ( which I am led to believe is not legal)
seamless check in & check out, clean, perfect temperature. Friendly & helpful staff
Deposit of £50 but it is refundable
Location, comfort, reasonably good quality, and helpful staff!
Nothing!
The outside decor of the hotel
The rooms was are really bad and old needs updating TV wanting working no AC or fans.. This was an upgraded room as well.
Hell hole
Hurendus
Screaming kids all night and knocking out door. Also didn’t know had to pay for parking. Cleaners knocking door before check out
Location was superb for my requirements, superb value for my quick visit.
I don't feel I was there long enough to form a valued opinion. I will say, being a retired specialist decorator, the pillars outside the lift, and palmistry at the stair bottoms would liven the place up if painted in quick black, white marble effect!I
Nothing
Nothing at all. The mattress was old and uncomfortable, staff wasn’t willing to change the room, it was humid and I was given one fan that was broken and the other was small. Windows would open more than 2/3cm’s. Bath tub had a burn in it looked like a poo stain. House keeping were slow I had to complain for them to come to my room and give fresh towels eventually. Over priced hotel and extremely dusty. I’d like a refund.
Location and breakfast
Really creaky floorboards
Location great. Clean. Cheap
Poor WiFi
Central location, reception was very efficient. Check in and out time great.
Now having to pay for parking. Our previous stay, the parking was included.
Great location, friendly staff.
Windows didn't open enough to get air through.
Friendly staff but no AC in rooms. Toiletries must be provided.
not particular
The room was spacious and clean. The staff was quick and helpful, and cabs were just outside, which was really helpful.
Everything
Nothing
Central location
Hotel looking a bit tired, rooms in need of some redecoration.
Ideal location
No air conditioning no fans in room
I loved the Victorian style hotel. It was beautiful just the location wasn’t greatest. Staff was amazing breakfast staff chef and wow they was sooo nice and lovely. Breakfast was soo nice. I loved it.
Just location didn’t know it well tbh
Nothing
Extremely hot. Bathroom cabinets and sink was broken and so was the tv. Untidy bedsheet that were ripped. The toilet door lock was broken. Lights in the hallway were flickering.
That it was quiet and the staff was helpful Zain he was really helpful wasn't rude and didn't hesitate to help us with the room.
The room we booked wasnt like the pictures on the sight and we got moved room a s the TV didn't work
The location and the opening hours were okay.
The leaking of water on the sealing and the smell inside the room was horrible.
Stayed here for one night, staff were nice enough. The rooms was quiet depressing, the bed was very uncomfortable and very small the bedding was very thin. This has to been the worst night sleep I’ve had in a while, the mattress need updating asap.
A little bit of a problem sorting out payment for the car park however the reception staff helped me through it
My friends and I had high tea on Friday the 12th June. At first we were a bit put off by no one in attendance at reception we had to go looking for assistance. But after being sat down. The tea was excellent and our server Casper was charming if a little bit inexperienced. Overall we enjoyed ourselves. But think the hotel could do better. Maybe some music in the background as there was very little atmosphere.
Everything, it's a truly beautiful hotel to stay in
Nothing.
Lovely hotel Friendly helpful staff Great location only a short walk to the theatre
The location was good for my stay
The rooms are tired and needing some upgrading. Some carpets looked frayed
I loved how close the property is to city centre and everyone is so nice
I love the old school theme but as soon as you walk in you get slapped with a old smell? Like what you’d expect your great grandmothers house to smell lol I think small update would be very nice
Clean nice staff warm and comfortable near the city centre and close to theatres
N/a
The room was quite spacious and clean.
I booked a triple room, but the room only had a double bed with sheets, blankets, and pillows; there was no sofa bed or anything. It was terrible.
We arrived here on Saturday 6th of june with Caledonian travel for a overnight stay our room was lovely and clean very spacious staff were very friendly and helpful and the evening meal and breakfast was excellent, it's just a 2min walk to the shops and the bus and train station just across the road.
