It’s been my 2nd visit…Location is great and having said that,if it wasn’t for the handy location right at the heart of town,i wouldn’t be back.
I was given a much more modest double bedroom compared to the 1st visit which I liked the most;at least it was eerie quiet bonus.Blow dryer stopped working within seconds had staff to replace it.The radiator again not working!
Beautiful hotel
Nothing
The architecture of the hotel building is beautiful, it is in a good location with the Bradford Forster Square train station right next door which we used each day to travel outward from Bradford to Bingley, Saltaire and Keighley. Our main reason for staying in Bradford was to take a trip out to Haworth for the Bronte Parsonage Museum. The room and shower facilities at the hotel were very good. A special mention to Matt the barman in the brasserie who was very accommodating when we were told that the meal we booked on arrival was to be in the brasserie rather than in the dining room. He set up our table and was courteous and efficient when serving us our meal.
My husband and I booked and paid for a meal for Saturday night on our arrival on Thursday. We were told by the lady receptionist to show the coupon to the staff in the dining room on the night, which we duly did. Despite others eating in the dining room we were informed by a staff member in the dining room that we would be eating in the brasserie. We protested that we were to eat in the dining room, still we were refused with no explanation given. We were the only people eating in the brasserie, except for people ordering drinks from the bar. In addition, there was a wedding in the ballroom on the first floor and the noise from children running on the stairs and the music coming from the ballroom could all be heard in the brasserie, as it is in an open area on the ground floor. This did not lend itself to having a peaceful meal. Matt, the barman was the only saving grace in this situation as he was very courteous and efficient. We were not very impressed with Bradford as a city. Walking the streets away from the hotel you witnessed the deprivation referred to about the city of Bradford.
Location
Very loud music stayed in room 142. All night banging. Requested double room got two single beds pushed together.
Good rooms, comfy beds, nice shower, fridge in the room, dressing gown and slippers, decent breakfast, good location and attentive staff
Nothing to dislike
Lovely hotel & friendly staff. It was like stepping back in time when you walked into the foyer.
Our room & bed was smaller than we had expected . We told the manager & we got upgraded to a much larger room . Thanks
We visit annually whilst attending a conference and we got upgraded for free which was good. The location is so convenient and we managed to get a car parking space which was fantastic.
Our fridge had someone’s old food in it. It wasn’t the poor girl on reception’s fault as she was really busy. The cleaning staff had overlooked it .
Clean and tidy
Comfortable beds
The building looks fantastic and has a great feel to it. Definite Howard’s vibes. The staff were lovely. Breakfast was really nice.
Nothing really.
Absolutely stunning hotel. Clean. Staff 10 out of 10. Nice breakfast.
Helpful, friendly reception desk staff sorted out a room with separate beds extremely quickly after an initial problem (see below). Lino at the bar made us feel really welcome, and looked after us very well. Thank you!
I had asked for a twin room with 2 single beds, and confirmed with my upgrade. Unfortunately, when I went up to the room, it contained only a double bed.
Good location for trains and meetings in Bradford. Good for group booking.
N/A
Breakfast super, evening meal excellent. Everything was a delight. Highly recommended.
A little dated
Clean, quiet, comfortable and the central location is ideal.
The parking is free (if you can find a space) there were non electric vehicles in the charging bays so no charge was then available for my vehicle?
The staff are fantastic everytime
The toilet wasn't flushing The bedding was smelly the pillows were stinky Bad odour in the room
Old-school grandeur. Clean. Spacious room. Big bed. Very central. Decent breakfast. Enjoyed my stay.
Signage could be better. Took me a while to find my room.
The location was perfect for us. The building and lobby were exquisite. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful.
The only small negative is that our room could have used an update. Otherwise it was perfect.
The hotel is very beautiful. There is free parking for guests. The room was a nice size and the bathroom very clean. The staff was polite
Nothing really
Lovely rooms, staff and facilities. Foyer bar was nice and relax giving perfect place for quiet drinks.
Had to unplug phone as repeated calls after midnight from other rooms.
The staff were so very attentive, and friendly. The hotel itself was a fantastic historical building with lots of original features, the entrance from the car park is amazing and well preserved. The room was very large with everything you'd need. The location is ideal for access to the theatres and the centre of virtually everything. Breakfast amazing nothing too much trouble for the staff they even did poached eggs for us. We will return I'm sure.
Nothing
We where put in a room wich smelled of fresh paint so had to ask to be moved as the smell was to strong
It was ok
Great central location. Lovely historic hotel
Great price and location
More charging points
Location
Basic facilities in washroom were lacking
Just a fantastic old hotel. The entrance, the reception and waiting areas and the stairwell were almost palatial in appearance. Nice, spacious room with a comfy bed plus chairs, bedside table, dressing table, tea and coffee (plus biscuits) making facility. Nice black, veiled marble bathroom walls. Good quality breakfast buffet! (Yoghurt, fruits, fry up foods etc.)
Didn't stay long enough to find any negatives.
Staff were very welcoming, friendly and professional. Loved the character of the hotel and the spacious room. Good value breakfast
Bathroom facilities need improving
We stay in the Midland several times a year. As ever the service is excellent and really good value for money.
Nothing. It was was a great stay.
It’s beautifully kept, clean and tidy
Nothing
Good location
Very, very dated and no aircon
Close to where I needed to be
Clean tidy & great service
Lovely staff, very close to both major stations, room was spotless and had a very modern bathroom, lovely vibe all around
Restaurant was closed despite the info sheet saying it was open daily - plenty of alternatives within short walking distance though
The staff and the help
The hotel and staff are very nice the location is perfect.
The room was far too hot. A fan is in the room but didn't help.
Beautiful hotel, very clean, nice staff
Some noise from outside
With a charge of £85 for B&B my expectations were not high but the location and parking suited our needs. However apart from our toilet seat being a little bit wobbly there absolutely nothing to criticise. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room clean and comfortable and breakfast was varied and hot. We have to return to Bradford later in the year and we will book the Midland again.
Good central location
I’ve previously stayed in room 323 which was an excellent room but this time got 312 which was as though it was a different hotel. The room was tired, scuffed, old, the bathroom worn out with a leaking shower mixer which I had to affect a repair to use and the bed was very uncomfortable. The noise from the street was also an issue.
Excellent location, attentive staff, lovely hotel and decor, great rooms, superb bed and views from the windows, nice hot shower and large towels, had a great stay over two nights, didn't have the breakfast but have already ready booked another stay in a couple of weeks because we had a lovely stay
Nothing to dislike, everything was perfect, highly recommend, have stopped at a few hotels over the years, now this one is our first choice whenever we book again for Bradford, next time we will be having the breakfast and you can also enjoy having food in your room as well, so looking forward to that! 😊
quite happy with my stay at the Midland.
The bathroom was not to the standard it should be, every thing was quite dated, definitely needs upgrading. the hand basin had hairline cracks which were visible, when the taps were used water would pool around outside the basin. the shower head would not stay in place when showering. the shower mixer is difficult getting the right temperature should be replaced with an automatic thermostatic mixer this alone would save the hotel a lot of money in wasted hot water. I would say that the whole bathroom needs an upgrade.
Great location, car parking facilities, clean big rooms and friend staff
Internet was terrible and get dropped out, signal was poor inside the building. Car parking was terrible, cars randomenly parked. Chargers been occupied by the same cars that didn’t move in three days. A real let down to a decent hotel
We liked the room and breakfast and feel it was excellent value.
Excellent city centre location. Beautiful old world charm. Free parking. Very polite, helpful and friendly staff. Dog friendly. Followed my room request for a bath
Nothing. It was great
5 mins walk to nightrain where we were seeing a band, a little dated but really big rooms, free parking, and only 2 mins walk to the Broadway shopping centre.
Everything, the location, cleanliness facilities etc
Location
Awful cigarette smell in the bathroom and stained pillow in the bed.
Very Clean and Comfortable room.
Great value for money. Beautiful building. Polite and courteous staff. fantastic breakfast
Location
The room was very warm and no air con or fan in room.
Spectacular former railway hotel kept in good condition and upto date by Britannia Hotels. Really enjoyed our stay
Wonderful staff, excellent location for town
Everything feels a little dated now, and breakfast was cheap/greasy, there are better options in town
This is a proper hotel with a hint of grandeur. The lobby area and stairways are just fabulous and the vibe is way better than any Premier Inn. Our standard double room was a good size, with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was good and the hotel is well placed, just a few minutes walk from Bradford Forster Square Station. It was also very good value.
You can’t charge to the room, everything has to be paid up front.
Location The bar I used to work here in the 70s
They need to be more attentive at the breakfast buffet Items not replaced quick enough
Everything
I stayed twice and both times I paid for a late checkout but both times the maid came in at 12. Now I'm here for a third time I hope not woken up on this occasion !
Well placed- good value
Bottom stair should perhaps have a ledge in a lot of cases as it can be hard to detect with the carpet design. Safety issue.,
Not aware at any time that this was a card only hotel , only carry cash and a passport , so couldnt get a drink at the bar or breakfast in the morning
as above
I love history and the building is recognised for its historical value. It was built as a luxury hotel and I felt the staff treated me as if I was in a luxury hotel. Staff were helpful and professional. The evening meal was good value for money when buying a meal voucher on booking in. Breakfast was also good value. Good value for luxury feel, and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was designed with a nod to Victorian style but modern. Exceptionally clean. As a lone traveller I also liked the twist lock and door chain for security.
I stay away from work a lot and often find issues but not here. There was nothing I could complain about.
The rooms were nice and mostly clean. The location was very accessible. The main train station is 5 mins by foot. There is a mall nearby you can hang out in. There are some charity shops around, as well as some health and wellness service providers.
Stayed 21 to 23 July 2026, room 227. An item went missing from my room during my stay: a Nintendo Switch Lite that was in my bag in the room, never taken out of it and never used. My bag was open while the room was serviced. I reported my lost property by phone on 15 August and was told someone would get back to me; nobody did. I then followed up three separate ways, namely: the website contact form, customer service email, and Facebook. I received no reply to any of them. I called again on 17 August. I was then informed by the receptionist that housekeeping hadn't handed anything in. Fair enough, but I don't feel like they really tried to look into/for it. For one, I had not been told whether the lost property log itself was checked, or whether room access records were reviewed. Til this day, I have not had a single written response or reference number at any stage. Every contact had to come from me. I'm not making any accusations about what happened to it. I'm still pursuing it because the console was a Christmas gift from my partner and is a limited edition item, so it isn't something I can simply replace. I would still welcome a written reply confirming what was actually searched. I would DEEPLY appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Please. My booking confirmation number is 6085847626. I can be contacted through the details on that booking, preferably by email. Thank you for your consideration. P.S. If you are wondering about the delay between my stay and report, I travelled for work again immediately afterwards and was then physically unwell for more than a week. Additionally, I didn't realise it was missing, as my bag was unpacked by my partner rather than by me. I understand that the delay may have made a search harder, and I am not suggesting otherwise, but it does not change the fact that the item was still in room 227 on 22 July.
The bathroom was gorgeous luxurious all black and the bed was comfortable.
The heating didn’t seem to be working. The bedroom itself is much smaller compared to other 3 star hotels I have been to and i personally didn’t like the fact that it’s crowded at the entrance cos they use as smoking area and I do believe that some of those people aren’t even staying at the hotel just come to use the pub facilities in the ground floor that’s the impression I had; I’m a non-smoker and i didn’t like to have to swerve people smoking in order to gain access to the main entrance it should be a separate area designated for smokers;also u have no choice but to cross through all the gatherings of people in the eating pub area to then gain access to the reception itself to do your check in.The halls leading to the bedroom are depressingly dated but overall I had a decent rest but the best thing about this hotel is definitely its location right at the heart of the town next to shopping centre, supermarkets etc all walking distance. Not sure lll stay again not for the price I paid £79/per night.
The walkway from the parking to the reception was truly original. The mirrored ballroom was amazing. An old-fashioned hotel very well maintained.
The location was great.
Internally the building could have done with a clean, it smelled of dust everywhere. Foyer, lifts, passages and our room all areas smelled of dust. Nets and curtains were ripped, extremely dirty and carpet sticky.
Wonderful old Victorian hotel with lovely public spaces, large recently decorated, comfortable bedrooms and friendly staff.
We enjoyed our stay, the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. A good selection of prepared fruit at breakfast.
We were slightly disappointed with the breakfas. I prefer a full English breakfast to be prepared for me..and not just a help yourself style cooked breakfast. My wife prefers a continental style breakfast with some nice bread or rolls with selection of Cheese/ ham salami etc. But we managed.
Room - good. Breakfast - good, but buffet stock allowed to run down too low before being topped up. Wider choice of a Continental/Asian fare would be nice. Bar and bar food -OK. Again a wider choice and later availability of sandwiches/cold food but be good. Location - great for our plans. Parking availability good. Building and decor- excellent. Trying to preserve the history and grandeur good. But it seemed a bit tired. Staffing levels seemed low. More front of house presence would be good
As I said above, wider choice and availability of food. Some sprucing up of fixtures and fittings. More staff. Several people gathering in the lobby to socialise, even with a bar available. Try to recreate the past grandeur more.
Super room, clean, tidy and lovely staff. Good breakfast too.
nothing I did not like
I’ve stayed there many times and never had a problem
A nice room and facilities
Beautiful historical building. Traditional hotel with large rooms.
We were able to charge our EV on site.
TV was useless. Not able to get a connection to any service. Mentioned to reception but not able to fix.
Nice and clean
No smart tv to watch any movies just basic tv
Staff was great Room was spot on We could not ask for more In a hotel
large room, central location, car parking, very helpful staff
We were on the south side of the hotel and it was very hot. Other than having AC I'm not sure what the hotel could do about that. A fan was provided, which was a help.
Stayed before and it was as good as we expected
Centrally located grand old railway hotel, steeped in history and character. Our room was spacious with high ceilings a good bathroom and comfortable bed
The lack of air con in a heatwave made the room uncomfortably hot. High ceilings added to huge sash windows that only opened a couple of inches from the bottom but let in lots of sunlight contributed to the heat retention. The fan provided provided scant relief
Location is central Bradford which was ideal for our trpi
3rd time staying at this hotel. Efficient check in. Great location. Great price.
Window in my room wouldn't stay open and bathroom window was painted shut. Fan provided but was too dusty to use. Some cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling. Pillow too thick.
Iconic building in the centre. On site parking.
Rooms were very clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
No air conditioning in the rooms. I understand the UK has very few hot days of the year, but with the heatwave currently ongoing; it is an absolute essential.
Location
They never cleaned the room
We have never stayed in a better room, the facilities were second to none, everything catered for. The location was excellent close to all amenities and both shopping and eateries. The decor, architecture and history of the building was brilliant. On-site parking was a real bonus. Breakfast was very good and there was a discount for their 2 or 3 course meal when we checked in. Very good value for money
Nothing
Friendly helpful staff. Central location & some parking.
Bit rough around the edges, though value for money.
Great staff, who go above and beyond to help the customers. Special thanks to Ellie at the reception for being so helpful and kind. Will definitely recommend this establishment.
Yet another amazing stay at the Midland hotel ! Fantastic customer service 5 starrrrrr !! 👍🏼😁
Clean but had a funny smell to it. Room were great and the bed was comfy. The food was amazing
The smell
Loved the whole atmosphere and central location right next to the railway station.
The room was a good size and very quiet, particularly given the city centre location. The breakfast buffet was good and wen we used the bar in the evening the barman was efficient and friendly
The toiletries in the bath are positioned dreadfully. If you are lying in the bath and need some soap you are forced to stand up to reach to reach the dispenser. The hotel should either provide a bar of soap or position a dispenser within reach of someone lying in the bath.
We had two rooms. I did request double rooms with single beds in them but got two double beds. We made it work. The hotel was very quiet which meant there was parking available which was easily accessible. One you register your car, you don’t have to pay and can come and go as you please. The room did contain a TV but it couldn’t connect to the WiFi so didn’t really work.
The breakfast wasn’t all that. We ordered the vegetarian hot breakfast. Mine contained a hair so it was off putting.
Very nice hotel. Plus staff was very helpful and nice. And provided us what ever we asked. Will be staying again.
No A.C
Love old fashioned building and style
Great location Very friendly and helpful staff
Very central. The main city centre of shops, theatres and museum is within 10 minutes walk. Only a few minutes walk from Bradford Foster rail station. We were upgraded to an executive room which has never happened before, but it made my birthday extra special.
Nothing
everything was good
disability tiolet seat was to low
Staff throughout the hotel were excellent. Always helpful, efficient and friendly. The bedroom and bed were large and comfortable. It also had a very effective air con unit which was needed the day we arrived. Everything was very clean. Breakfast was good. The bar is reasonably priced. The hotel location is spot on. Next to the railway station and in the City Centre. Weve stayed here several times ann will stay again.
The bathroom was clean but a little tired with some ( not a lot ) grouting needing replacing. Windows difficult to open also in need of a bit of TLC.
Nothing
Room was spacious, traditional, beds were very comfortable, perfect for a weekend break
This hotel was amazing, it was very clean and spacious. The staff was very polite and welcoming.
Good location
Not good value for money
The building had plenty of character and was in a fantastic location. Some areas could benefit from a few minor touch-ups, but this did not take away from the overall quality of the property. I was very impressed with my stay and found the accommodation comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Some areas could benefit from a few minor touch-ups
Location
The decor of the rooms etc, really dated, strange smells, really creaky floors
Very close to theatre, very clean and well presented. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful and friendly. I would seriously recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a fantastic venue to stay in.
