overall this was a wonderful resort vacation for our family. affordable & a smaller atmosphere. i would most definitely stay here again. the ocean views from the room were incredible. it felt completely safe being there with children. we traveled with 3 adults & 3 children. rooms: clean, spacious & well taken care of. a little outdated but nothing worth complaining over! the front desk is kind & responds quickly for any questions or concerns. the public restrooms were also always clean. beach: clean & well maintained. little to no sargassum or seaweed. the staff are out there daily scooping out any seaweed that happens to be present. the waves are small & the water is clear. there is a lot of sea life in the water if you snorkel (fish, sting rays, crabs, hermit crabs). there are boats & jet skis that go by often but it is not a disruption & actually fun to watch. the pirate dinner experience is very close by & you can see the boats lit up at night on the water as well as when they light off fireworks. service: 10/10. everywhere you go there is someone asking if you need anything. they were all kind, attentive & fast. the waiters in the restaurants were very accommodating for any requests. pepe who works in the buffet deserves recognition for his warm, attentive & positive nature. they do not pressure you to tip them but i recommend doing so because they all do a fantastic job. food: great! the buffet has so many options. there are so many choices that you could have a different meal every day for a week. the restaurant reservations do get taken quick but if you are at the desk right at 7 you will get a reservation. the themes in the restaurants are fun & did remind me a little of the restaurants in world showcase in epcot. there is italian, mexican & seafood. the snack bar is open 24/7 & has a good variety. there is no food close to the pool so you have to dry off & go to the buffet or walk up to the snack bar but neither are far away. pool: clean & beautiful. they had plenty of games & activities daily & the pool areas were fun. the chairs are mostly taken by 8:00am. the activities staff do a great job of keeping the vibe positive & fun. servers bring drinks right to you when you are in the water. did not feel pressured to tip them but we did tip generously. spa: couples massage was amazing! it was clean & smelled so good in there. the massage was top notch & the staff was respectful & kind. entertainment: our favorite was the MJ impersonator concert. most shows are 60 minutes. the kids absolutely loved the disney sing along show! there was also a circus, a dance party, a mexican heritage show & karaoke at night. it is fun to watch the shows while night swimming as you get a great view when you are in the pool. bars: there is a beach bar & a lobby bar. the lobby bar also doubles as a pool bar because it is so close to the water. if you tip the bartenders (can use dollars or pesos) they take good care of you! all of the bars have a variety of drinks & if you ask for alcohol at the buffet they bring you a drink. i do recommend bringing your own reusable cup or bottle because they will fill it up! the kids can ask for any of the drinks minus the alcohol.

Our waiter Vanilly was amazing! He always greeted us with a smile and was very attentive to our needs. The entertainment staff especially Adrianna, Martin, Jasmin, Mariela, and Alexander made sure we had a great time!

Nossa experiência no Occidental Costa Cancún foi muito boa. O hotel tem uma localização excelente, próximo ao centro e com fácil acesso aos principais passeios da região. Os quartos são confortáveis e bem limpos. O sistema all inclusive oferece boa variedade de comidas e bebidas. A área da piscina é agradável, sempre com uma programação de entretenimento durante o dia e à noite, criando um ambiente animado.

Excelente variedade de drinks e o quarto é muito espaçoso.

Resort familiar com quase nenhuma atividade. Não espere muito da comida.

La comida es una porquería baje como 5 kilos por q comí lo mínimo son pura comida de sin sabor no dan nada q diga uno dicen mi hijo para comer huevo viene tan lejos todo muy feo

La pasamos muy bien!! El hotel cuenta con tres restaurantes de especialidad (italiano, mariscos y mexicano) y uno de buffet. Los alimentos muy variados y de excelente calidad, todos están alrededor de la alberca. La habitación con vista al mar estuvo increíble. Todos los días reponen el minibar y la ubicación del hotel está muy bien, tienen muchas amenidades cerca. Mi niño y yo varías veces pescamos en la noche desde la playa. El hotel tiene espectáculos en las noches y el ambiente es muy bueno!! Puedes gestionar un gran número de actividades en Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres y Cozumel con el personal del hotel, eso se agradece. El restaurante buffet tiene servicio casi todo el día. También hay una barra de snacks las 24 horas, muy bien surtida. Sin dudas recomiendo el hotel!!

Perfect location! The Xcaret Xailing ferry to Isla Mujeres is right next to the hotel. It’s only $30 round-trip to spend the day at Playa Norte, hands down one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

What an amazing place. We took out family here as a last minute vacation and absolutely loved it. Great facilities, pool, beach etc. Food was always great. Staff were amazing and always smiling. Shout out to Vanilla, Pepe and Alfredo in the buffet restaurant. Definitely coming back.

The beach area is very small, you can’t swim if you wanted to. It’s next to the ferry ⛴️ terminal where all that smell of fuel and residue contaminates the ocean. The personal in the restaurants are very nice, but I can’t say the same for some of the other staff personally in the front desks. The rooms are ok, not great cleaning by the personal. The food was not great, the pasta in the Italian restaurant is not fresh, too much sauce on the pasta dishes, you can’t even taste what you are eating with the amount of sauce they put. The pizzas are terrible, the chicken fajitas in the Mexican restaurant, the meat is not well seasoned. Has no taste to it. Most of the food in the buffet restaurant was typical Mexican food. I get it we are in Mexico 🇲🇽 but I have stayed at other hotels in Mexico where the buffet is a mixture of everything. Where the variety of food was top quality and very tasty. The evening shows they present every night not interesting or lively as other places. The personal that does these shows are young adults, I would assume college students or within that age group. They also, harass you daily to book excursions with through them when they charge double the price then if you do through Viator. Unfortunately, I enjoyed my time in Cancun, doing the excursions I did through Viator. But would never stay at this hotel again. Also, the day Mexico was playing England the whole hotel was attentive and no shows going on during this soccer fifa tournament, but when it was USA’s turn to play they were so rude to the people seated by the lobby bar watching the game. They had shows going on and wanting people to participate in karaoke 🎤. Very rude and disrespectful. Again would never stay here again. Nor would I recommend to anyone.

I was very disappointed with my stay at this resort. The food was consistently subpar, with very few enjoyable options. The drinks tasted watered down, making the all-inclusive experience feel like a poor value. There was little to no nightly entertainment, and there were very few activities offered during the day or evening. The resort lacked any real atmosphere, making it feel boring and uneventful. Overall, the experience did not meet my expectations, and I would not choose to stay here again or recommend it to others

Nossa estadia no Occidental Costa Cancún foi excelente! O resort superou nossas expectativas. As instalações são muito bem cuidadas, a praia é linda e perfeita para relaxar. A alimentação é variada e deliciosa, e os drinks são muito bem preparados. O atendimento de toda a equipe merece destaque: todos foram extremamente simpáticos, atenciosos e prestativos, fazendo com que nos sentíssemos muito bem acolhidas durante toda a estadia.

Todo, es un hotel muy completo todo esta cerca, y todo me encanto.

We really enjoyed the food, the pool and beach areas and all the waiting staff in the restaurants were amazing! The à la carte options were a treat! Beds were comfortable and towels were changed daily - mini bar was stocked up after 12 every day which was a lovely addition - we had to ask for extra water twice. The shop at the hotel was not crazy expensive and had a range of goods. Good options of liquor and excellent entertainment - although all in Spanish.

Reception staff need help. They need to cope with hundreds of people checking in, checking out and having queries. We had a water leak in our room which was fixed only after two days. The room had a damp/drain smell and AC was never fixed despite complaining daily. Daniela tried - the rest could not care less. Our kids initially had a room next to ours - then there was no water. They were placed in a room with one bed - for 4 pax! And the AC did not work. Then finally moved five rooms away and they were lucky their AC worked! We asked for a room away from the noise which was not granted but they did apologise for not meeting our expectations.

Tuve una estadía de 11 dias, al momento de llegar me dieron una habitación matrimonial cuando exclusivamente pedí una habitación twin con una reservación tomada Con mucha antelación, la recepcionista que me atendió en el check in, era completamente inoperante y cero empatica con la situación, dándome una respuesta de que era lo que tenía disponible y que me pondría una cama que se arma y que el hotel no se iba a hacer responsable por un error que ellos mismos cometieron, mi reservación yo solicité hace aproximadamente 6 meses antes del viaje…. Para tener Esta clase de respuestas.

Be careful staying here with kids. They have a wristband policy that includes 3 year olds and will charge 120USD if they loose it. Wrsitband doesnt open rooms so not sure what cost 120 dollars for string and plastic. Reception will not tell you anything until check out. Very shady hotel and staff at reception. Rest of hotel is average nothing special but lack of communication and help puts this hotel at the bottom for me.

The hotel is convenient. It has the base if what an all inclusive should have and you will be able to relax. We liked the options for restaurants and well as a variety fo daily free activities. The location is decent.

The food has good variety, but the quality was just OK (probably a product of trying to cater for many different people and preferences). The area where you can swim in the ocean is very small.

This hotel as great workers and service even if you do not speak the language yo do not have to worry. Both my partner and Didnt speak much spanish and were able to navigate through bookng excursions and asking for help! Many staff stated we were helping them to better their english during our stay. Definitily reccomend using the spa services they offer wonderful deep tissue massages with saunas and hot tub included! The buffet was great for quick meals but i highly reccommend eating at the restaurants on the property food was absolutely amazing.

First time at this resort and it was wonderful! We received an upgrade to our room due to being a Barcelo Unique member. Room was great, clean, comfortable beds and pillows, cold AC, fridge and toiletries always stocked. Food at the buffets was very good and fresh. Drinks were strong and very good! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We never had to wait for anything. I also want to give a shout out to all the bartenders, I didn’t catch their names but every one of them was attentive and great! Other shout outs for just being great are Laura at the front desk, Pepe and Venilli at the restaurant. Sorry I didn’t catch everyone’s names. Absolutely no complaints and will definitely be back! Thank you for a great time!!

AC was not working even after calling them twice. Had sleepless nights becaise of this. Its aweful. Pros- Food was great!!! Pools beaches were great too.

The staff was super friendly, there was always enough staff to cater everyone, the food was good and plenty of options, the room had all necessities. Great value for price.

For us personally, the non-stop music & entertainment was a bit too much. It therefore wasn't a relaxing holiday. Our room also faced the pool area where the speakers are, we really couldn't sleep before the party was over.

The resort is outdated smelt of mildew and mold. Room was the size of a small camper the bathroom had leaks coming from shower head and cord. Walls was cracked and damaged

This is a small resort in the North of Cancun's Hotel zone. I give it 4 stars overall. It is resort food and mainly the same resort food everyday. It is very small so 1 week is really the max I would stay here or you run out of things to do. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff went above and beyond, they take safety very seriously at this resort. I highly reccomend for shorter stays up to 1 week.

If you are looking for a resort with a long white sandy beach, then this review may not be for you. However, if you want to know what makes Occidental Costa Cancún a great place to stay, keep reading. One of the things I appreciated most was their flexibility with arrival and departure times. We arrived early in the morning, well before the official check-in time. Instead of waiting around, the resort gave us full access to all the facilities. Since we had booked the all-inclusive package, we were able to enjoy the restaurants, pools, beach area, drinks, and all other amenities while waiting for our room to be ready at 3:00 PM. The same excellent service applied on our departure day. Although we had to check out of our room at 11:00 AM, we were allowed to continue using the all-inclusive facilities until 2:00 PM. After that, we could still stay and enjoy the resort's common areas until our late flight, which made our last day much more comfortable and stress-free. The resort itself was very clean and well maintained. The food was delicious, with plenty of variety and quality that often felt more like dining in a good restaurant than a typical all-inclusive buffet. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The excellent service, flexibility, cleanliness, food quality, and welcoming atmosphere made this a great vacation experience. I would definitely recommend Occidental Costa Cancún to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay in Cancún.

Overcrowded and poor guest service. As well, at night there are people trying to sell you stuff around the pool, and during the day, people walking around the beach with jewelery for sale.

Very very nice hotel for the price point in Cancun. Don’t let the reviews stop you from going to this little hidden gem. The food was quite good and the service excellent. Shout out to Vanilli and Alberto in the buffet. Made every meal fantastic as requested their sections. The place was super clean and the resort was very well cleaned and maintained. It’s a little smaller then the ones I am used to going to in Playa Del Carmen area but deffinately did not disappoint. It was cute, cozy and we could always get a drink readily available and food was very good. The Italian restaurant was by far the best at This hotel. OMG the Bolognese sauce was incredible. Our group was small, but we loved it. Ask for rooms 407/507 if you want great balconies and ocean views. Snack bar being 24 hours was also great. Try Occidental Costa Cancun. You’ll find it will surprise you.

We had a great time, second Christmas at this resort. Staff remembered us, which was great. So many great people that made our stay awesome. General Manager Ricardo, was always greeting guests, very pleasant. Luis food service menu, thanks for the treats in our room. Norma our maid, second year she was our Maid, thanks for taking such great care of our room. So many staff made us feel like family, Deisy, Alfredo, Vanilly, Patricia, Linda, Carmen, Gabreilla, Willem, Maria, Pepe, Fernando, Reuben.
