We’ve had such a wonderful experience at the Magnolia Hotel in Downtown Houston! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, but what really made a great first impression was the service. We drove in from San Antonio, and Karla welcomed us with the biggest smile and made our check-in experience so easy and pleasant. She was incredibly friendly, patient with all of our questions, and had us checked in and on our way to our room in no time. She even gave us a breakfast coupon, which was such a sweet and thoughtful touch! :) It’s always nice to arrive somewhere after a drive and immediately feel welcomed and taken care of. Thank you, Karla, for starting our stay on such a positive note. We’re really enjoying the Magnolia Hotel and would definitely recommend it!

Safety: this hotel is sitting right next to a prison with homeless walking around everywhere. Valet: They're not very attentive towards guests - I was standing in front of 3 attendants and none were available apparently... Took about 7mins for actual assistance. Btw $54 a night if you do valet. Lobby representatives: I came on a day when the astros were playing so it was busy. However, the reps lack communication towards the guests and amongst their own staff. We made a reservation at 4pm and didn't get our room until 6pm. One rep said that I would be contacted by them once room was ready (never happened). After paying for the reservation, I quickly handle the valet situation and afterward and spoke to another lobby rep and she said that the room was ready (after being told I would be contacted that the room would be ready). Pool: They're pool has a great skyrise view. Though, pool is very small in size and was green, 3ft all around including hot tub. Breakfast: Breakfast was included throughout our stay. Take advantage, don't sleep-in; it is very filling and the staff is very attentive. In particular this one individual Mr. Robert. I would give a 1 star for this hotel, but Robert was phenomenal. This man needs a promotion or needs a transfer to a department that fits his qualitative characteristics. Overall: the 1 bedroom suite was spacious and clean upon arrival. cleaning services never came back to clean room throughout our two night stay. Lastly, I don't recommend making a reservation with this hotel using a "third-party" like Expedia - you would eventually have to speak with the sales and accounting department regarding their confusing transactions. Diego from the sales was helpful throughout process despite his attitude. And Sheila from the accounting dept. was wonderful and understanding.

Amazing. That's really the best way to describe our dinner at Aqua Shard. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent — attentive, welcoming, and exactly what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. But as wonderful as everything else was, the views completely stole the show. We were there as the sun was setting over London, and watching the city transform from daylight into evening from high above the Thames was breathtaking. Seeing Tower Bridge illuminated below us was absolutely spectacular. Pictures simply don't do it justice. We were celebrating my birthday, and I honestly couldn't have imagined a more memorable setting for dinner. The combination of the beautiful restaurant, excellent service, wonderful food, and those incredible panoramic views made the evening feel truly special. If you're visiting London and considering Aqua Shard, go — and try to time your reservation around sunset if you can. Watching London light up while having dinner is an experience I won't forget.

I stayed at The Magnolia while in Houston for work, and unfortunately, I would not stay here again. The hotel is supposedly part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, and while the lobby may give that impression, the overall experience did not live up to what I’ve come to expect from the brand. The hotel itself did not have a particularly pleasant smell, and the service throughout my stay felt lukewarm at best. The valet experience was especially frustrating. Guests are asked to submit a request for their vehicle, yet I watched valet staff standing outside talking while I waited. When I asked about my vehicle, I was simply told it would be another 10 minutes while they continued standing where they were. There was very little sense of urgency or attentiveness. I stay within the Marriott family frequently, including Tribute Portfolio and Autograph Collection properties, so I’m familiar with the level of service these hotels typically provide. This experience fell well below that standard. Overall, the service was poor and the stay was disappointing. I will choose another Marriott property the next time I’m in Houston. I’d probably give this 2 stars based on what you described—nice enough appearance to avoid a 1, but the service was not there.

Check in time was 4:00. My wife and I arrived at 4:35. We had to wait until 5 to get out room because they didn't have a room ready. Air flow in room could have been better.

Great location, beautiful property, and spacious, clean rooms! We loved being within walking distance of everything or using the free 1-mile shuttle. The complimentary happy hour and nightly milk and cookies were delicious perks. Our only complaint was the rooftop pool, which was unexpectedly closed without warning. The front desk even gave us the pool hours at check-in without mentioning it was shut down. Despite the poor communication regarding the pool, we would absolutely go back to finally try it out and highly recommend this stay!

The AC was sub-par, we even changed rooms. It was hot and humid the entire stay, even in the hallways. I'm from Houston and have stayed here several times over the past 20 years and I was put off with the ac issue, it's June in Houston and trying to get dressed with make up for a special event in a sauna like environment is just unacceptable. Additionally, the bathtub was strangely small on the interior, even though it looked nice from the exterior. Very slippery, nearly injured myself trying to shave my legs. We ordered 2 meals with room service and both were small portions, no trays and mediocre, at best. Overall, the price per night and $$ for amenities was waaaayyyy too much. The bar was sad and the billiard table and pool cues could have been picked up from Goodwill the day before. All were probably nice 10 yrs ago. Also, very sad This hotel used to be MUCH nicer. I have observed a marked downturn in quality from the last time I stayed here about 4 years ago. Might as well stayed at a Motel 6. $480/night.....LOL. never again. Checked out the Lancaster while attending a function at Jones Hall and it is MUCH nicer and located with even better access to Theater and Toyota Center for concerts. Very, very disappointing birthday present for my Boyfriend this weekend.

Overall, an okay hotel. It was a 10 minute walk from my venue, which is why I chose this hotel. Pros: - I was generously upgraded to a suite. Very large room but definitely on the dated side. - Restaurant staff are very friendly and the food was good. - There is a house car available for use within a small radius. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to use it. - They have a package where they will provide two monitors, keyboard, mouse and docking station which was great for working in the room. Cons: - the pool is very small and not many chairs. It is not a serviced pool, so no food or beverage available. - Housekeeping is slow. And when they did service it, they emptied the trash and replaced towels but it was not a full servicing of the room. However they were very friendly and made sure the room was stocked with lots of towels and water. - Large amount of homeless people outside the hotel. One even tried to follow me into the hotel (but he was stopped by hotel security) The price was definitely good value for money though. If the price is right, I would consider staying again, but I would also look at other options.

The Hotel Magnolia is a beautiful property with comfortable beds, and the breakfast was delicious, but we ultimately think there are better options in downtown Houston. The location is excellent, especially if you’re going to a baseball game, but there were a few issues that impacted our stay. Our room was not ready at the 4:00 PM check-in time, and the lobby was crowded with guests still waiting at 4:30 when we were able to get our room. Additionally, only two elevators were working, which led to waits of 10+ minutes just to go up or down. Finally, be sure to review your bill at checkout. We booked a rate that included breakfast and were given coupons to present to the servers, but were still incorrectly charged even after presenting the coupons during breakfast. The front desk was able to remove the extra charges. Overall, while the hotel has some strong positives, we will consider other nearby options next time.

The location to the Daikin Stadium was great; very clean and comfortable.

One of the elevators was not working and there were a lot of guest this week. The wait for an elevator was extremely long at times and we ended up taking the stairs several times.

Ac barley worked, elevators where barley responding to Input. For the price paid the room was very bare and not interesting. I have stayed at multiple other tribute portfolios, they had way more style and interesting things going for them (themes and such). I hate to sound like a total Karen. The staff was phenomenal and I had no issues whatsoever. I feel I could have got the same room somewhere else with half the price. Or also gotten a room for the same price somewhere else and gotten a lot more.

The TV didn’t always work.

We came on a volleyball tournament trip. The staff was incredibly accommodating to our last-minute request for an opportunity for team bonding in a semi private space. They were helpful in giving us service on the third floor, and we greatly appreciate all the bar staff.

Avoid at all cost. Smells of mold and humidity, no concept of service and rooms are old. No housekeeping unless you ask them, and even after asking, housekeeping will only replace some towels and don’t care about anything else. Placed a request on Sunday evening and received items Tuesday morning. Front desk employees don’t care about the guests at all. Bar is ok, some bartenders are good, others are not.

We had a great stay. All the staff we encountered were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Hotel was lovely and well cared for.

Nico and Iggy at valet and the wait and bar staff have been very hospitable and did a phenomenal job taking care of our team.

Will at the front desk is a HERO! Such a warm, welcoming personality, and a dedicated employee. He rescued me so many times helping find deliveries, and helping me figure my way out of the hotel. He even remembers the names of guests of the hotel, and makes the experience more personal and memorable.

Spent our honeymoon at the Magnolia. The staff was amazing. They upgraded us as a wedding gift. While they was cool, the neatest thing was the offering of the OUTPOST service! They offer a full service office in a box, complete with two wide screen monitors, docking stations, external wireless mouse and keyboard and 24/7 customer support for the technically challenged (such as myself). The thing came in a rolling pelican case and was just super cool and easy to use. That service should be used at every hotel! Why someone didn’t come up with it first escapes me!

I didn't love that we weren't told about the limited breakfast service. I understand that it was Thanksgiving day, but we purchased the tickets expecting a buffet but only had 2 choices for breakfast instead. I wish we had known in advance.

I stayed at the Magnolia Hotel Houston back in November and honestly had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything about the stay was smooth, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable. What really stood out was the service at check-in. Dewan, the young gentleman who helped me, was absolutely wonderful — professional, attentive, and incredibly welcoming. He took the time to offer great recommendations for nearby places to eat and things to do, which made exploring the area so easy. When he mentioned he’s originally from New Orleans, I knew I could trust his judgment when it came to Creole food, and he did not disappoint. The hotel itself was lovely, with a great downtown location and a comfortable, well-kept room that made it easy to relax after a long day. Every interaction I had with staff was positive, but Dewan really set the tone for the entire stay. I’d absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Houston.

We stayed at the Magnolia (which was beautifully decorated for the holidays) and Labarron was our driver. He was incredibly friendly and had great communication during drop off and pick up he along with other members of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been staying at the Magnolia regularly for 3 years now. Occasionally, I have to work from my room and I really hate having to go through large spreadsheets on a small laptop screen. The Magnolia offers a package through a company called Outpost where you can borrow a work station for your room with 2 monitors, a dock, a keyboard, and a mouse (and it’s cheap and expense-able for work !!) You just pick it up from the front desk and it’s all packed up in a suitcase on wheels. Comes with instructions in case you need them, but super easy to set up. It made ALL the difference! I get so much more done with 2 monitors! It probably cut my work time in half - no joke. I don’t understand why every hotel doesn’t have this! The Magnolia has my loyalty for a lot of reasons, but this benefit will definitely keep me coming here! Thank you Magnolia & Outpost!

I stay at the Magnolia for business travel from time to time. It has a great location close to downtown and comfortable rooms. I recently used their partnership with Outpost to rent a work setup that included dual monitors and a hub. This greatly improved my stay and made working from my room a lot more pleasant. I recommend it to all the road warriors out there.
