Location, sitting area, staff very friendly baggage carts and coffee good in the am. Parking was perfect.

Refrigerator made loud noises at night. Sliding door didn't lock and had a bar for safety. Beds too high, bedding heavy on my 88yo mom. The pillows are ridiculously big and no support. Its lovely to have 4 pillows, doesn't help that your head sunk in the middle. Toilet paper far to reach from Toilet.

Building was close to the beach

There was no pool even though advertisement show that there was a pool. Bed was very uncomfortable with "potholes" in it. Low shower water pressure.

This hotel has amazing location beachfront, and the views were phenomenal.

I felt that the complementary breakfast could’ve had a few more low-carb options. Not really much to eat if you’re following a low-carb no sugar diet.

No AC! And could not leave slider door open because our balcony was combined with the neighboring unit, no wall or lock for separation. Was not provided the welcome kit that was advertised for pets despite paying the pet fee. The “included breakfast” was grab and go items, should not be considered or advertised as breakfast at all.

Nowhere to eat breakfast as the few tables overlooking the car park were being utilised. Get to it early as once it’s gone not refilled. 1 member of staff on checkout desk with no key drop totally inadequate for number of guests.

Hôtel idéalement situé à 1 minute à pied de Moonstone Beach et de sa très belle promenade avec ponton (possibilité de voir tôt le matin - 7H45 pour nous - des dauphins depuis la promenade). Possibilité de rejoindre Hearst Castle en 15 minutes en voiture et le centre-ville de Cambria en 5 minutes en voiture. Chambre joliment décorée avec cheminée à l'éthanol. Literie confortable.

Hôtel en sous-effectif au niveau du personnel notamment le matin où une dame de bonne volonté était en charge des check-out et du buffet du petit-déjeuner. Résultats : buffet du petit-déjeuner non renouvelé avec plusieurs clients qui y sont venus sans rien trouver (par pur hasard cela n'a pas été notre cas). Chambre avec vue sur le parking et les roues des voitures car en sous-niveau. Sonnerie du détecteur à fumée qui s'est mise à sonner sans raison autour de 23H. Nous avons résolu le problème nous-mêmes et envoyé un message via Booking resté sans réponse à ce jour de la part de l'établissement (plus de personnel sur place passé 23H)... nous avons du prévenir et faire toutes les démarches le lendemain pour éviter que la situation désagréable ne se reproduise pour un prochain client. Piscine ouvrant à 10H avec check-out à 11H donc inaccessible pour les lève-tôt. Personne réalisant des travaux sur la façade de notre chambre dès 9H45 (heureusement que nous étions déjà réveillés). Énorme déception.

Bed was comfortable but the fitted sheets need to cover the depth of the mattress. Two sinks were well appreciated and the coffee in room very nice. Very quiet in our room.

Inadequate breakfast-no where to sit and enjoy breakfast. No one at front desk in two occasions and no way to ring for help. This happened at checkout time as well when the on line checkout was not working.

I love the room ii was in. 207. Readily nice. Love the bed n pillows. Every thing look nice. Maybe better cleaning of re painted. The rugs look so worn out lol. Maybe cuz if popular. I love my patio. Room was clean and a nice size. Bed was comfortable. In room coffee was Starbucks and was good. Location was great. Front desk staff was really friendly and helpful.

The room was a nice size. I liked that we could open the sliding door to cool our room down because it didn’t have air conditioning.

There was no AC in the room, and the ceiling fan on high was not sufficient. We had a room on the 1st floor and couldn't keep the window open.

Amazing facilities. The place is extremely well preserved. The wine tasting included was a top detail. Beds were incredibly confortable. Beach walk is just across the streeet!

The location is great! We’ve stayed at this property in the past and loved it back then. This time was quite a bit different. The guests are very friendly.

The maintenance of the rooms and property has gone down considerably. We had the two ocean view lower level front rooms with the patios. The ceiling fans were warped and filthy, the drawers were broken and off their tracks, there were no towel racks in either room which forced us to lay our towels and face cloths wherever we could, there were no hangers for our clothes, the sliding glass door lock was broken, the patio was dirty with leaves and dirty furniture, the breakfast items were minimal and cheap with no indoor seating even though there is a full breakfast area with chairs and what looks like it used to be for a continental breakfast or buffet that is closed off and unused. We asked for towel racks or towel bars to be installed and the front desk attendant said they would be but never were after 4 days. Not a great place compared to some competing properties in the area.

Close to beach and nice views

It smelled musty. Bathroom flooded by the shower head no matter how you positioned it. Super gross old tub, jetted but they were gross. Wore flip flops to shower like camping. Noisy, very noisy above you.

We booked 2 king suites, only come with 1 car. We still had hard time finding parkings. There should be designated parking for each unit. There's no parking when we arrived. And after we left the hotel and came back at night, parkings are very hard to find. They ran out of breakfast very quick. I didn't have breakfast both days we stayed there. Mind you I paid for top of the line rooms here. Compared to my friend who stayed at near by hotel which was not a suite. She gotten complimentary breakfast served to her room everyday. My room came with only 1 pillow on a king bed, missing 3 pillows as I compared to another suite that my family staying. That room has 4 pillows. There is no AC on the unit, the fan also did not work. It's in the middle of summer and it was not pleasant. There are 2 layers of doors to the patio, glass door and screen door. So I opened the glass door to let the cool air come in through the screen door. But there's no lock on the screen door. I couldn't leave it unlocked over night. It left me no option but to keep the glass door closed and endure the heat. On top of that the lock of the glass door appeared broken. The hotel put a stick to prop the doors instead. The shampoo bottle is completely empty. I found that out when I was in the shower trying to wash my hair. I wasn't comfortable calling someone to fill the bottle at midnight while I'm in my rope. On the good side the bedsheet seemed clean. The floor is clean.

The hotel through Booking.com was overbooked. They offered a sister company at a very crowded weekend at a reduced rate.

iconic location on moonstone beach drive...this row of hotels is authentic cambria...not much has changed over the years...small updates as needed staying true to original...what we enjoy about this room is the divided living area from the bed area...this is our second year here for 'girls get away'...this year they added a small continental breakfast...there is no elevator to the upstairs rooms which is where you get the ocean view...parking is definitely a challenge here...lot is usually full once sun goes down...if you want the room serviced, you need to request...room has coffee maker, microwave, small refrigerator, and electric fireplace...

Room was good size . The room was advertised as Partial Ocean View. You had to go on to the balcony to see the ocean. We stayed three nights and there was only one roll of toilet paper in the room. We had to ask for another roll. There was no body wash in the shower. We had to go ask for that also. Would not go back.

Clean, well run, attractive place in great location on Moonstone Beach. Easy to cross the street and get on the boardwalk that runs miles along the beach. Limited continental breakfast provided. We were very happy with the place since we had an ocean view room with a balcony. Note that there is no elevator to second floor. Need to be able to carry badges up 20 steps. One warning, there are very few restaurants and tons of people on Moonstone beach so it is difficult to get dinner reservations. Most of these restaurants are just basic beach restaurants with limited menus and middling food. If you want more, you need to get in your car and go away from the beach to downtown Cambria where there are more and better restaurants.If you have a dog as we did, you need to find a restaurant with outdoor seating that accepts dogs.

Room was outdated…gas chimney did not work..so we asked for another room.. …gave us another room that was worse than the first room.should have been compensated for changing to a different room since it was no fault of our own..will not stay here again.ceiling fan was very noisy..also drawers in cabinet would not stay closed for some reason…

The location is priceless. Renovated not that long ago and everything about the inn is charming and new.

The The hotel was disappointing. There was no space to sit outdoors. The advertised "Breakfast Included" consisted of nothing more than baked loaf cake, instant oatmeal, Nature Valley Granola bars and a prepackaged fruit cup. The walls were very thin, allowing sounds from neighboring rooms, such as toilet flushing and showering, to be easily heard. The jacuzzi was closed for our two-night stay and the pool area was very small.

My go-to spot in magical Cambria. Beautiful grounds, perfect view of Moonstone Beach, lovely and comfortable accommodations, and dog- friendly. This was my third stay - I’ll be returning soon!

Breakfast was a continental breakfast and the location is fantastic. If I remember correctly, about six years ago, I stayed at pelican and I thought they had a full breakfast back in those days. I don’t know why they don’t have that anymore.

Value for money, as its over priced considering the leakage in bathroom and some kind of weird smell in the room. Maybe because its old or something, I don’t know.

This is a lovely sleepy beach town. Moonstone beach is a delight Miles of boardwalk that is handicap accessible. And waves to ride. Who could ask for more?

We love staying at The Pelican Inn & Suites! The rooms are lovely, the service is excellent, and the location is perfection! Moonstone Beach is just steps away and there are a few eateries within walking distance. Pelican Inn & Suites is a fabulous place to vacation/get away.

My wife has never been to Cambria before. She enjoyed the time and the stay at your place as did I and we will be back. Thank you for the enjoyable time. We had staying at your place.

Disappointed in the condition of the room. Very tired. Needs a major update/refresh.

It seems like the management style has changed since the Pacifica group took over. For example, after-hours check-in is consolidated into distant locations. We assume this is a money-saver, but the rates for our rooms have not gone down! The buildings are aging without regular maintenance and some of them are downright disgusting. Ancient toilets that clog, hot tubs that leak and are not maintained, and ceiling fans that wobble are some of what we've experienced this summer. Moonstone beach is a treasure and we save up all year to get to stay there. It would be nice to be able to know when we return that the buildings will be up to date and that personnel will be friendly and available.

Pelican is a magical place! The gardens are absolutely amazing and give a sense of peace and magic. It's location is perfect directly across from the ocean. Walks on Moonstone beach are awesome! The GM is extremely helpful and an excellent host. A stay at the Pelican is much more than a vacation, it's like coming home!

The front desk person would not share simple details about the suite, such as if the couch is a pull out bed. They also would not go up to check if it is. I spent more on a larger room then needed, and the couch ended up being a pull out bed. Additionally, the parking near our room was full so we had to park all the way across the property. Lastly there are no elevators at this hotel, adding more difficulty to loading and unloading.

We arrived at the hotel at 10:45 am,much earlier than the 4 pm check in. We asked the gentleman in the office if we could leave our car parked while we went on a walk and explored the shops in Cambria, he obliged. We returned at around 230 pm, hoping our room would be ready, but the same gentleman from the morning informed us it was not ready. We went to Moonstone Bar & Grille for a drink and to wait. We returned at 345 and there was a different gentleman attending in the lobby. He checked his computer and said the room did not show ready in his system, but thought it certainly should be and that sometimes the cleaners clean the room and forget to mark the room ready. He gave us a key and we made our way to our room, only to find the cleaner cleaning the room. Mind you, by now it is 4 pm, the check in time. The cleaner was surprised to see us and she was a tad rude. We returned to the lobby and told the attendant in the lobby that the room was still being cleaned. By the time the room was ready for us it was almost 430. This was an awful first impression and a frustrating experience, I’ve never had my room not be ready by check in time.

Great place to spend the Fourth of July! Quiet! Ancient Peaks wine tasting was a great experience! Seeing everyone with their dogs was super cool!

Took my mom for a weekday b'day getaway and enjoyed our stay at Pelican Inn. We had a balcony room with ocean views which was amazing and roomy. Loved the roominess and places to relax, read and enjoy our wine. Loved having the availability of a microwave and fridge in the room as well. Front office staff were kind and helpful.

Stood at the Pelican Inn &Suites . The room was Great and had a tremendous view of the Ocean. Staff were very friendly. Sam Martino is the most friendliest, professional and cares about the people who stay here. I have been staying here for years and will continue to do so every time we come to Cambria.

Besides clean towels and bedding the rest of our room was filthy. Food was on the fireplace mantel from the previous guest, sliding glass door had finger smear marks all over it, the bathroom door and light switches had toothpaste and something red all over, exhaust fan did not work floor was dirty, missing a light bulb in the bathroom, and the bedside table had dried up liquid still on it, and the couch was absolutely disgusting. This was our third stay at The Pelican Inn and we were very disappointed, especially because we paid a lot of money for something that looked like a roadside motel. I will say that the staff was professional and friendly and the grounds were beautiful. I did contact the manager, Sam, via e-mail since I he was not on-site either time I checked with the office. Three days later I still have not heard back from him.

i checked out and later that day realized i left my lap top power cord. i called 5 times, 3 times i left a voice mail and 2 other times someone answered and i asked if they could look in the room and see if theycan fine the cord. i could tell they diidnt care. now its bee over a week and no responce. i needed the cord, so i bought a new one. Their lack of caring, and still no response after 5 calls tells me their service level is terrible.

The only thing I liked was the beach, which is not even part of the hotel facilities.

The stay was disappointing overall. The property advertises that the price includes breakfast, but in reality they only serve very basic sweet snacks, which they describe as a “continental breakfast.” This is not clearly indicated on their Booking page, and it was by far the poorest continental breakfast I have experienced. The staff were rude and unhelpful. They criticized us for using a third-party booking platform and treated us as if we had done something wrong, which was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. The hotel itself is old, and the rooms are very noisy due to the outdated pipe and heating system. Cleaning standards were only modest, and the room facilities were insufficient. Even bottled water in the room was sold at an extra cost, and high-speed Wi-Fi required an additional payment. The swimming pool was extremely small and did not match the impression given by the pictures. The location is acceptable if you want an isolated place in nature, and it is close to the beach, but there is little social life nearby. Also, the beach is mainly a surfing beach, and swimming is not suitable for everyone because of the strong and dangerous currents. Overall, the place was very uncomfortable, especially due to the behavior of the reception staff, and it definitely did not feel worth the stay.

Location, location, location! Staff was friendly. The room was clean and grounds were attractive and well kept. The gardens\landscaping was really impressive.

Room was hot in the evening. If I recall correctly the website stated that rooms no A/C so that was expected but it said that rooms have ceiling fans but ours did not. "Breakfast included" was not as expected. If the booking.com said "continental breakfast" then I would have evaluated the price differently. There was nothing for folks on low carb diets. For a couple in that area breakfast costs around $40./day. Spa was closed/out of order. Pool was heated and nice but very busy with kids/families.

We arrived at 915 and there was no staff to check us in so we had to drive further down the street to their sister hotel to get our key .as I went to bed I saw a piece of chocolate on the floor . The next morning , in the light I found a dorito and a great amount of dust around the closet. They had obviously not vacuumed in quite awhile . I told the guy at the front desk. He said they’d get to it but they were very short staffed. Needless to say we came back to nothing having been cleaned. There was also mildew in the grout in the shower. No place to fill water bottles but for $5 you can buy a small bottle . No breakfast because they turned the breakfast room into a wine tasting room but then said it was closed because of Covid !

There was no housekeeping during our stay for three nights. Room was left untouched. No bed made, no fresh towels, no refresh of coffee station in the room, and dirty overhead fan, despite our request at the front desk. Very disappointed for the rate they charged.

We stayed last night at The Pelican Inn and Suites. Our stay was delightful. The room was wonderful. But by far the best part was the staff. As we were preparing to leave we realized that we had lost our keys. Sam at the front desk immediately began helping us as well as the maintenance crew. One of the groundskeepers found our keys!! Thank you thank you ! If we are ever back in CA we will come here !!!!

It is located on Moonstone Beach. View from room. The room had a nice floor plan.

We had an ocean view room that had dirty sliding doors and windows to the view. The room had dusty lamp shades, floors were dirty in parts, furniture tops were clean but otherwise dusty underneath. Walls were spotted and could have been easily cleaned. Rusty, dirty lamp fixture in bathroom. Picture glass not cleaned. I asked to have the windows cleaned and no one came to do it. I was told they would. I ended up cleaning the sliding door glass and dusting the room.

It was close to the beach and close to great places to eat. The room was clean with a generous amount of towels. There was a microwave and a good size refrigerator. The check-in staff was wonderful. The room had coffee pot and coffee packs, however it had no creamer or sugar to go with it.

There was no coffee and creamer to go with the coffee they offer. The water bottles available were five dollars for each so we opted not to use them. The room we stayed in was subject to hearing every shower, every toilet flush, and every sink that turned on. We don’t know if it was the room next to us or the whole upper level, but it sounded like the pipes were draining right next to our room because we heard it all night long. The front desk was not available after 7 o’clock, so we tried to call for some assistance and because they were not open we didn’t get anybody. There was a number we could text for front office help. We texted that number and did not get a reply until the next day when we were already home. When we checked out a day early because of the water noise, the office staff asked us why; we explained the situation and she said that we would not be refunded for the day that we’re leaving early because we booked through a third-party. I found that kind of rude because she should’ve offered us a different room, considering the inconveniences that we were experiencing. We were already set to go home anyway, and we wouldn’t have stayed, but I feel that she did not do her job to the best of her ability.

Love the location next to Moonstone Beach.

Bed: Like a rock. Pillow: Flat and uncomfortable. Noise: All of it. Reservation: Wrong. Resolution: None. Breakfast: Bad. We booked a deluxe ocean view room, and didn't get it. What was the recourse? Nothing. Just blamed us for not reserving directly through them. Who on Earth books directly through a hotel in this day and age?? And the noise! We could hear everything. Noise kept us up late and woke us early. The perfect combo. And breakfast? Some Nature Valley granola bars, instant oatmeal, some cake, and coffee. Not exactly the breakfast of champions. Cannot disapprove enough.

Very easy to get to, map was easy to understand, parking was very accessible.

It was a wonderful location

They didn’t have the rooms cleaned, you had to ask and also drawers in dressers hadn’t been cleaned. We ran out of conditioner in refillable container in shower and had to go get our coffee packets each day. The price on the room was quite high for this.

Location was great. Staff was friendly when we checked in. Room (suite) was nice. Beds were comfortable. The succulent garden and small creek was beautiful.

There was water leftover from a previous guest in the coffee machine water reservoir. Felt like it should have been empty for sanitation reasons.

You want it firm, factual, and difficult to dismiss as “emotional” or unreasonable. Stick to concrete failures: misleading breakfast claim, nonfunctional premium feature, overcharge, and poor resolution. We were disappointed with our stay at Pelican Inn & Suites, especially considering the premium price charged. The “included breakfast” advertised on the website consisted mostly of inexpensive packaged snacks and instant oatmeal, which did not match expectations set by the property. We also paid extra for a premium fireplace room, only to discover the fireplace was nonfunctional. When this was brought to staff attention, the response felt dismissive and lacking accountability. Most frustrating was being promised a credit for the issue, only to be repeatedly delayed and jerked around afterward. Overall, the experience did not justify the cost, and the hotel failed to deliver the quality and service that was advertised.

Great place. It’s our 5th time staying there. Highly recommend.

I like the location

I feel like the hotel is stingy about breakfast. The reason I booked this hotel above the others on the same street was because they listed they have breakfast in the morning. I thought that’s great to save money instead of eating at a restaurant. The breakfast was lackluster. My husband and I were disappointed because the hot water ran out for the Quaker Oats cups they had given us so I used cold water. They had yogurt, granola bars, lemon bread from the store. We never got to eat the lemon bread either because kids in front of us got the last slice. A woman asked the front desk worker if she could provide more bread. The worker told the lady “no what’s gone is gone, come again tomorrow morning for breakfast”. The coffee machine was empty for my husband and I. The breakfast room was in the front lobby which is very very small.
