The staff seemed like he need to get out of there, pleasant enough. The decor hasn’t chanced since the first time we here in 2006, the chairs in TOMS CABIN the chair seem better days and need a cleaning, they have been there are outdated

The decor is really dated - needs updating.

Love the welcome, room is quite nice, fireplace is a great touch, bed very comfortable. Breakfast is pleasant and decent variety.

Oddly, the toilet seat won't stay up.... a marble "counterspace" top obstructs it!?! The desk chair in the room obstructs easy passage... arms are too tall and it does not adjust down. Odd, an armless chair would be fine, there is lots of seating in the room.

The property was clean and the room was pleasant

The bedroom floor shook every afternoon at about the same time. I thought it might be an earthquake but I was assured by the receptionist that it wasn’t. They thought it might be the aircon. We thought it might be from some machinery. We were in room 603 and you could fee lit when you stood at the end of the bed on the left side facing the pillows. Also one of the elevators wasn’t working which made the other one very busy and consequently it took a whike to get downstairs with our suitcases when we left.

Close to center of (by car). Comfortable beds. Great breakfast.

The restaurant we wanted was not open. Breakfast was okay first morning and better the second morning . Price was a little high . Vending machine was weird

They can do way better with the breakfast. More choices should be added and more quantity. We wanted waffles but couldn't have any cause they were out. And it was only 8:30 am. But overall the place is recommended!

Hotel pris sur la route entre Montreal et Toronto. Hotel avec charme et une âme très Nord américaine. Etape charmante avec le waterfront et les iles autour meme si difficile de se garer proche du waterfront (5 a 10 minutes en voiture de l'hotel) Personne très agréable. Petit déjeuner buffet, tres diversifié.

Chambre propre et tout à fait correcte. Le personnel de l'hôtel est très sympathique et accueillant.

Nous étions quatre et la quantité de produits de toilette (shampoing et gel douche) était nettement insuffisante : seulement un échantillon au format individuel pour tout le monde. Par ailleurs, le petit-déjeuner était très décevant, avec un choix très restreint et une qualité à revoir.

We stayed here in summer and took advantage of using the pool at the hotel which was lovely and well kept. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices.

It was a bit expensive to stay here.

The scrambled eggs were not good, think they had been sitting for quite a while.

The staff was amazing and super friendly! The breakfast was a good buffet and the beds were comfortable as usual with my best western stays!

My aunt complained of stains on the towels

The staff were very pleasant especially the TOM`s restaurant- The breakfast was nice. I liked that food could be served while at the pool.

The cost of the night was very expensive - the rooms and building are very outdated as well as the pool. The value of the room was not there.

Le camere seppur datate avevano una struttura originale e l’ hotel si trova a 10 minuti in auto dal centro. Il personale del ristorante Tom’s place adiacente molto gentile e ottimi prezzi e servizio.

Alcuni membri dello staff non proprio cortesi . All’arrivo in hotel verso le 14:15 la receptionist in modo un po’ sgarbato ci ha fatto notare che il check-in è alle 15 senza lasciarci mettere d anessuna parte i bagagli e lasciandoci come un un limbo vicino al recevimento. L ultimo giorno poi dovendo partire presto ci siamo presentati allle 6:30 per la colazione( orario indicato) ma nulla era pronto e solo verso le 6:50 l’addetto ha preparato qualcosa ma se c è un orario andrebbe rispettato.

An ok stay. We needed a place last minute and they had a room. Very nice staff. Decor is a rustic theme which is showing its age, 25-30 years in my estimation. The hallway that our room was in had a musty odour. The room was a one queen bed with electric fireplace. Cute, spacious but again, tired and in need of a refresh or re-imagination. The bed was comfortable and no cleanliness issues. The water temperature fluctuated wildly in morning when trying to get warm water. The breakfast buffet was included, unsure of regular price. It was staffed by one fellow who was doing his best to keep it going, but by 9:45am there were slim pickings (eggs, potatoes, sausages, cottage cheese, juices all nearly gone despite buffet running until 10:30 on weekend). Definitely not good value at $300/night with CAA discount added. In this place’s current state it was overpriced.

The cleanliness was much below my expectations, the grout in the bathroom was mouldy and the bathroom door had dirty hand stains on it also not much cleaning is done behind the door. I am surprised that the health department allowed the coffee maker not only in the bathroom but in close proximity to the toilet bowl. (Disgusting) we booked the king room but obviously it didn’t mean a king size bed.

The room was really gloomy was badly in need of an upgrade not as on the picture online. Noisy AC bed was poor.

Sprawling Inn on a large footprint. The outdoor pool, two restos on site. The fun mid-century decor.

Slightly funky sewer smell emanating from the bathroom when we first entered our room. Could be something as simple as flushing the sink and tub traps with bleach on a regular basis.

Best Western Fireside Inn, Kingston Ontario A charming vintage inn that is well cared for and very clean. The room was well appointed. The staff are very helpful and came went above when an unplanned incident occurred on my end. It turned out well with their help. Due to being smaller, the service was more personal and individual. Only drawback was no elevator.

Delicious buffet breakfast with hot and cold options. The staff were friendly and efficient.

The coffee station could be streamlined to make it more efficient.

Hotel was clean, comfortable bed, amazing, friendly and welcoming staff! Close to many things, free parking, secured property. Restaurant on property had great food and great staff. Free breakfast that was fresh, tasty and great quality.

Drain in tub was really slow, thin walls and bathroom door was really squeaky

The convenience of a pub in house, super included breakfast. Sofa in room makes it confortable, no need to go to bed to watch tv

The plwce is dated and needs updating, the pool really needs renovating. Access gate was broken had to access through pub.

Quaint hotel, room fixtures were dated but very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was small but very functional and clean! Free breakfast buffet had a limited selection of food and drink, but it tasted very good! When I was wadding in the pool, staff from the adjacent restaurant came out and asked if I wanted some food and drink.

I truly don't have any complaints. I could not get the in-room fireplace to work, but that's no big deal.

The facilities were dated. There was an odour in the hallways and a musty smell (likely in the carpeting) in the room. There were dustballs stuck to the “popcorn” ceiling.

It was quaint and very cozy. Loved Toms Place . Dining was excellent.

Gym equipment was broken. Nothing to do around the hotel.

Cozy, unique rooms each have a fireplace. Good included breakfast, freshly cooked. More bread choices, including bagels and croissants and cheese/cream cheese would be nice. Just a suggestion, not a complaint.

Stayed in a standard King room with fireplace. Loved the charm of the 4-poster bed and gas fireplace. Larger room with couch. Clean room with comfortable bed and great shower head with plenty of hot water. Complimentary breakfast with a great selection of options. Dined at Tom's Place, an on-site pub and lounge. Delicious ribs and chicken wing dinner.

The people i met later in the day on Saturday and Sunday were very friendly and helpful!

The receptionist in the afternoon on Saturday was very rude and not accommodating to my husband and our friends! They were very put off!

Ich hatte versehentlich ein Zimmer mit einem statt 2 Queen Betten gebucht. Obwohl freie Zimmer vorhanden waren und ich den geringen Aufpreis gern bezahlt hätte, weigerte sich die Managerin und sagte dass sie nichts machen könne und ich mich an Booking wenden müsse, da ich über Booking gebucht hätte. Nach einigen Diskussionen war sie bereit Booking anzurufen, hat aber angeblich als Antwort bekommen, dass sie sich als Partner identifizieren solle und man sie zurückrufen würde. Das geschah aber innerhalb 1 Stunde nicht, Mein Hinweis dass auf der Seite von Booking steht, dass ich bei einem Wunsch wegen der Bettenart das Hotel ansprechen solle, wurde ignoriert - sie spreche kein Deutsch, 3 Nachichten die ich an Booking in der Zeit geschrieben habe wurden auch nach Tagen nicht beantwortet. Statt dort die gebuchten 3 Tage zu übernachten habe ich als Strafe 1 Nacht bezahlt und wir sind - ohne Booking - zu einem anderen Hotel gefahren Ich habe hunderte Übernachtungen weltweit via Booking gebucht und war zufrieden. Dies jedoch war eine Managerin die anscheinend ein Problem mit Booking hat und eine völlige Fehlleistung von Booking. Schade das am Ende einer 4 Wochen Reise mit Buchungen via Booking zu erleben.

The uniqueness

Big bed and it is very comfortable.

The hotel got brown out at least 4 times between 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm. No WIFI was available since the first brown out till I checked out around 9 am next day.

We booked this room as we have a dance comp in town this weekend in addition to celebrating my husband's birthday. However dispite the concierge being impeccable, Tom's place meal being lovely, our room (232) was disgusting. When we entered it smelled of mould, there was black mould throughout the bathroom and trim falling off walls etc. One piece even fell off while I was sitting at the desk. Im sad that I paid such a fare for such poor quality and conditions. The outside of this property is in poor repair and is not appealing for a Best Western property. I expected much better and feel $50.00 would have been a fare that suited the condition of this facility.

Breakfast were terrific, lots of choice. The bar is quaint and cozy, dinner there was great. Room was fine, comfortable beds. Hotel need some updating. Staff was very accommodating.

Our room was not very soundproof. We could hear people upstairs and they were late nighters.

The Bistro is nice the staff serving in the bistro there are nice, the food was delicious. Breakfast was great.

This is the worst hotel overall that I have ever stayed in. It should be a 1 star not a 3 star. The place is dirty full of bugs and the staff are extremely rude. The place is run down. In the middle of nowhere and feels like it’s not been updated in ten years. It should not be a best western but should be a motel at best. Cathy the manager on the front desk is extremely rude and dismissive to customers and does not want to help in anyway whatsoever. I would personally avoid this hotel. Ignore the fantasy suite reviews these suites are outdated and old just like the rest of the hotel. You’re better off staying downtown on the waterfront for the same price.

I just wanted to say thankyou for such a lovely stay and give the best recommendation…from the polite and attentive check in to the clean rooms that were cozy and very very comfortable. Immaculately clean and crisp. Nostalgic decor felt like I was staying with family! Loved it! Please don’t change anything! I met my elderly parents at Tom Place at the hotel which is incredible, the staff are truly amazing and professional. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back! Thankyou!

Beds are very comfortable, hot breakfast was good, friendly staff.

While the room was comfortable and breakfast was fairly good, there are a couple of negatives that stood out for me. The biggest one is the lack of an elevator. Our room was on the second floor, and we had to drag our suitcases up a flight of stairs. The hotel itself is very dated, especially the front lobby which was very dark. The location is not great - not much around it and it’s a ten minute drive to the Kingston waterfront. Don’t think we would stay at this hotel again..

Dieses etwas in die Jahre gekommene, aber sehr gepflegte Hotel besticht ganz besonders durch seine ausgefallene Ausstattung! 😄 Welche einen in eine vergangene Zeit, je nach gewähltem Zimmer / Suite aber auch in eine „Phantasiewelt“ versetzt (Mondlandung, königliche Suite, Reise nach Asien, …) und in der Bar „Toms Place“ in die Blockhütte eines erfolgreichen Jägers ( ein definitives „must see“ !!!) 🤩

My stay was amazing from start to finish. I absolutely loved the location and the cozy atmosphere of the rooms. The price was great for what you get, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. Everything was very clean, and the room itself was spacious and had everything I needed. The fireplace was such a nice touch and made the space feel even more relaxing. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the breakfast was amazing. I would definitely stay here again!

The only minor downside was that the ice machine wasn’t working during my stay, but it was such a small thing and didn’t take away from the overall experience at all.

Stayed here over a weekend in March and have stayed before several years ago. Room was good, clean and everything except one TV remote worked. For food, Only went to in House bistro once for included b-fast. Was very underwhelming quality wise but about what you could expect from a complimentary b-fast buffet. Lone & minimal interaction with housekeeping was most positive staff interaction. Value for cost of the stay & Front desk staff is primary reason for lackluster score. For the face of the property, they are either not overly keen on being there at all or don't enjoy their job. While no single issue arose that can be pointed out as the primary source of having this impression, it occurred over several smaller & short interactions. There was always an air of hubris of some kind during the interaction, they still did their job but they definitely had no intention to go anything beyond that with just a slight hint of 'you're the lucky one to get to stay with us' tone/arrogance. My suspicion is that they are not happy with their employer and it is that coming through in their efforts and persona's. For the cost of the per night, one should expect a higher level of professionalism but such is not the case. My recommendation is to limit your stay to a single evening if you wanted to experience one of the themed suites but not any more than that. I will not be giving any more of my $ to BW Kingston.

Tom's Place is a definite hit as an old-fashioned pub. Excellent food, ambience and attentive staff. My wife is gluten/lactose intolerant and was able to have some GF options added to some sandwich options, with no ill effects. Don't have to leave the hotel which is great if you want a few drinks to unwind. Room was comfortable enough but a bit dark. It had a safe for valuables which is always useful.

1) Room bathroom was a little small, can't fit two people in comfortably 2) Parking at the east entrance isn't that big. When we arrived , there were big puddles of rain right in front of the entrance door, which was awkward when you're trying to bring suitcases in to the room. That area needs to be improved to provide better weather protection. The road also needs attention. 3) The general hotel exterior is tired and dated. Needs some updating/refreshing. 4) Our room didn't have a kettle or microwave but there was a small fridge.

The staff were quite kind and helpful. There was a good balance of luxury and direct comfort. Also, the breakfast was unusually good and complete.

The ice machine wasn’t in working order an it’s th 2nd time in a 2nd stay. The floor was very sloped. The back parking not a walk way was very ice with no sand.

Very comfortable and cozy rooms! The full breakfast and ambiance of the restaurant. The food is delicious and they often have specials The servers on the lounge and bar side are very friendly.

Overall I enjoyed my stay. I had to wait a long time to get service in Tom’s Place. Breakfast was amazing. My biggest issue was that my room was so hot it was uncomfortable at times, I even tried to put on the air conditioning but it didn’t work.

Great night at the Best Western Fireside Inn! Staff were very friendly and attentive. The room was nice, loved having a fireplace, and it was very clean and the breakfast was great! I actually wish we had stayed for dinner, the restaurant looked really good and smelled amazing! I would definitely recommend and stay there again.

The plce is in need of a very good cleaning, updating and hey, an elevator would be a good idea. Make it easier to get suitcases up the stairs. Also exposed electrical wires in my room were frightening. Rude front desk staff.
