Best Western Plus Guildwood Inn

The location of the hotel is excellent, since it is in walking distance of Sarnia's waterfront and promenade. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and the menu selection. Our room was very comfortable and we were able to select the room's location with any difficulties.

That Amazon was holding a super sale at the Hotel.

Booked 2 rooms. Both rooms felt like you were sleeping in a swamp. Moisture was bad. Air conditioner loud and did not help. Both rooms out of body wash when we took a shower.. Had to use shampoo to shower with. Booking said continental breakfast included but when we arrived it did not apply on weekends. Never again.

Close to the border.

With the A/C on, the room smelled awful. I had to close it, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to stay in the room because of the smell.

Thought breakfast was included but found out there’s none on the weekends. Would have liked to have been given the seniors’ rate. Room was a little dusty, could have been cleaned better. Bathtub faucet dripped all night long.

Location was the primary reason for the stay.

I wasn't in the room for more then 30 minutes and there were visible bed bugs. This was in the middle of the day...and when I let the front desk know they said they would refund me in full which didnt happen. So not only was I 400 miles from home but I had to find a new hotel on the fly on a friday and pay for a second hotel. Horrible business...

Very nice hotel. Everything was fantastic.

The breakfast was great, not like the powdered breakfast that seems to be offered everywhere now a days. Sit down and eat real food. I truly enjoyed my breakfast 2 poached eggs , ham, toast and amazing fruit. I travel for work and am there Once a month. It was quiet and clean and a restaurant with good food. Great drinks too!

Clean room. Comfortable bed, linens, pillows. The bathroom was clean and in good repair. Fridge but no microwave. Coffee maker. Not a new building but well maintained. Large parking lot that was well lit. Some ground floor rooms had a door to the outside. Our stay was pleasant.

Mostly good except < outdoor swimming pool seems to have to be closed for technical; issues > yes this can happen chlorine or switch to cheaper better but more expensive initial salt water pools or close pool to switch to solar etc.

We did not have a bar!!

It was a two storey building and I saw no elevators for those needing one such as for older customers.

The staff at the counter was courteous and had good knowledge of the area. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The grounds were well maintained and there was ample free parking. Close to shopping and restaurants. Close to PT Edward Casino and border access to the USA if required.

Room smelt like musty pee For $150 a night you get a shoe box. Super outdated bathroom as well. Way way way overpriced for what you get. They put more effort into the lobby than the rooms.

Well situated hotel, close to grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. Appreciate that they are pet friendly. Our room was on the first floor and had a door directly outside onto a little paving stone patio which had trees around it and 2 patio chairs. It was perfect for us to sit out with our small dog. We will stay there again for sure.

The staff was helpful with our requests. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It was super hot outside but the A/C worked great.It was nice to walk to the bridge, along the river, and eat at the nearby restaurants. We had a really nice 2 night stay!

Very clean room, comfortable bed, great shower, and all functional items. The only thing we missed was a microwave oven but I don’t recall if it was advertised. The best was the a-la-carte (limited options but plenty of them) complimentary breakfast: very well made and huge portions (not your typical low budget buffet). The staff is super diligent and quick. Filtered water dispenser near the lobby. Greenery with benches all around and a dog area in the back. Absolutely renewed premises all around and a great price.

Bed was comfortable.

Room size was excellent. Restaurant was clean, food was great and staff was very friendly. The Inn is very close to the Lake, watching the boats go by was a nice. The Bluewater Bridge was a site to behold as well.

When I arrived and checked in, my room was not clean - bathroom had hair all over toilet, tub was dirty, and did not drain. On the last night I woke up with bedbug bites on my arm. When I mentioned this to front desk, she advised she would speak to her manager and give me a call back - I got an email stating no bedbugs were found, but my arm has the bites… I just know I would never recommend or stay at this location again.

Didn't eat there

The first room we got had a distinct musty smell to it and the carpet felt damp under bare feet and behind the night stand looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. We complained at the front desk the next morning. The girl seemed to know exactly what I was talking about - if so, then why rent those rooms. The fridge also did not work in that room. We got moved the next morning to another room which was better. The outdoor pool was closed (not sure why) and the fitness room was closed for repair/renovation. One of the reasons we picked this hotel was the outdoor pool. The girl at the desk said we took down all the photos of our outdoor pool. However, in the description the pool is still mentioned as being open seasonally from May to September. All in all not a good experience!

The front desk staff were very friendly. The room was clean and spacious.

There was no microwave in the room. Also we raised an issue with front desk about a car parked in handicapped spot with no valid permit but the vehicle remained there the whole weekend. The bar and grill had very limited hours snd the pool was closed.

Unfortunately, the pool and the gym were out of service.

My room did not smell fresh.

It was not mention on the website that the pool was out os service. We came for short staycation and pool service. After checking in we found out we will be using different hotel pool what why? Why it was not mention before? And the other pool was fully packed very small. Hope you will register this complaint and give reasonable compensation for the inconvenience caused.

Great hotel

This hotel was very convenient off the highway, very clean, and well priced. I was traveling with my dog and there was a door right off the room to outside for easy access for him. It worked perfectly for us!

Only 1 elevator

We were given a 2nd story room next to the stairwell. There was no slowing door hardware for the door at the top of the stairs. Each time it closed it slammed so hard our room walls shook and you could feel it while lying in bed, not to mention how loud it was. It startled our dog each time. No way would we have been able to have a restful night. Fortunately we were able to switch to another room, albeit with only a single bed. The tv didn’t work in that room.

This property boasts an excellent location. The room is compact, ideally suited for a single child.

the staff were very curtious. they allowed me to leave things to be put on my son's bed on their wedding night.

Everything about our stay was very good. We loved having a gr floor room with door to a patio wioth chairs and grass for our little dog. The continental breakfast was great especially offering a few hot breakfast choices. One thing..the hairdryer in rm103 doesnt work. I forgot to report it. Also one day, even though there was not a do not disturb sign on the door, the room was not refreshed. We didnt report that but it was disappointing. We liked having the coffee maker and coffee pods in the room but having some small "milkettes" that dont spoil in the fridge would have been convenient.

We have stayed here many times over the years and have always enjoyed our stay...the rooms are always clean, well appointed and quiet. However, I was very disappointed that the beautiful pool was not available...I was looking forward to another great swim!

I didn’t stay there, when I checked in they gave me different room from which I originally paid for. That said they have given my room to another guest and they only had one of that. Really? I was left either no choice but the cancel my reservation. Make sure you or property DO NOT charge me.

Front desk lady “ Ms. Gargi” said, this is booking.com fault, they show some pictures of room at the time of booking, but we don’t have those rooms. She also said that they do not encourage people to use booking.com. Really?

I booked this room so me and my family could enjoy the outdoor pool. The pool was closed. No where on the website did it mention the pool was closed. I did check it says something about open seasonal. June-September I think. I live 10 mins away it was waste of time and money. We had nothing to do other than sit in the room. The carpet was super wet around the air conditioner. The staff was friendly.

pillow top mattress was great, made me feel very cozy. Shower head was adjustable, which was also nice.

Sadly the jacuzzi jets in the whirlpool tub were not working.

This once classy hotel is now a very tired, smelly, with limited staff and very few patrons. The pool was closed, the breakfast place is only open Monday to Friday. Inside the room, the air is thick with the stench of mildew and rot. The carpet is damp, the furniture is old and dilapidated. This hotel needs a complete refurbishment. The staff were excellent and attentive.

We stayed on the main floor in the accessible room since it was the only room available. Our previous stay was on the upper floor and it seemed much cleaner.

We are unhappy with our accommodation. The pool was closed for the year but we were not told that at time of booking. There was one vending machine and it was out of order. There was nothing available to accommodate lack of service. When we asked at reception where there might be a convenience store we were told to go to Tim Hortons. Holiday Inn is next door so we went over there and used their machines. We were put in the furthest room at the Inn - two seniors - the furthest distance from the main area. We chose Best Western because we thought it was one of the nicer average inn accommodations. We have never been disappointed by Best Western until now. The room is clean. The bed is comfortable. The room is cramped. The cost to stay here is no treat or discount. It is a cheap room .. promoted as being at a special rate … a special package - none of which exists.
