The Lansdowne, Eastbourne

Lovely hotel, great view of the sea. Good location and great facilities. Breakfast was good. Nice bar area with several lounges to relax in. Staff very friendly. Parking permit provided to park outside of the hotel. Lovely by the sea and close to a good shopping centre.

We had a lovely stay at the Lansdowne Hotel. The restaurant was very good and our room was perfect.

The duvet was too heavy for the weather we had. We were too hot even with windows open.

Room just right. overlooking the sea, ideal for my wife who loves to look at the sea. Bed was comfy and we had decent sleeps.

Because of my limited mobility, i found the shower cubicle rather small, every time i tried to move around, i accidently moved the hot and cold water leaver owing to the tight space. The other issue was there no suitable towel rail. only a heated towel rail. that was far too close to the wall to hang a bath towel. Unfortunately there was no grab rails for the toilet. i brought my own and they worked out fine. small issues that need attending to.

What let it down was that the Property was tired looking and over priced for what it was . Service was ok but nothing more than that. But we could just be picky.

Great room with a wonderful view of the sea. Comfortable bed and lovely facilities. Staff were always ready to help and offer guidance as needed. Dinner in 1912 was amazing.

Breakfast on the Sunday morning was very busy and it seemed the team could not supply the food quick enough to replenish the servery. It did seem a little chaotic.

This isn't a 4-star hotel; it’s 2-star quality. The corridors are filthy and awful, and the room has no air conditioning—plus, the windows can't be opened. There’s an air show nearby with generators running all night—it’s a nightmare. There’s no drinking water in the room, yet the cost is nearly $700 a night. When we asked what justified the price, the answer was that there’s a show nearby, demand is high, and that’s why the rate is so steep.

The Staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Location is really central.

The staff team were excellent — welcoming, professional, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Steven, the duty manager, was particularly helpful and handled all of our queries with great efficiency.

It was in a good position on the seafront and was had some nice lounges and bar area. The food was very good and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Great location by the sea - we used it as a base for coastal walks. The room was good, clean. Bar was very nice.

The evening meal was a bit average. But everything else was really great about the property - would stay again without hesitation.

Parking! I thought it would be free but we had to buy 2 nights parking tickets. An Air show was about to happen so we were advised not to move our car for fear of not getting another space on our return. Awkward since our reason for our visit was to visit my poorly sister in Eastbourne Hospital.

The rooms are tired and the bathrooms need attention. Very cheap toilet seats and the silicon around the shower and bathtub were mouldy. Show head was leaking. For the price i would expect alot more from the standard of rooms.

Vriendelijk personeel. We hadden een ruime kamer voor 3 personen (badkamer was wel iets aan de kleine kant). Voldoende keuze aan verse producten bij het ontbijt (oa spiegeleitjes, omelet, spek en vers fruit etc...).

De kamer had weinig charme en er was vasttapijt (maar dat is bijna overal in de UK) maar was wel comfortabel. Er was ook een vervelend geluid van ventilatie dat 's nachts wel stopte.

Hotel is lovely with more than100 years story, it’s old but maintained properly, I love the Bar, breakfast and the people working there are energetic and supportive . Room is very clean.

Das Zimmer war extrem warm, obwohl wir nur 20 Grad Außentemperatur hatten und die Heizung aus war. Das Bad war schon etwas alt …Auch wenn wir ein ruhiges Zimmer wollten so war der Blick in den Hinterhof auf Garagen nicht so toll.

We were delighted with our stay. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. There are lots of nicely decorated reception rooms to sit in - liked gge decor in general. Dinner was excellent - we both had fish dishes which were fresh and al of the food was fresh and imaginatively and perfectly prepared. The breakfast too was very good - we are fussy eaters and can say that the cooked breakfast, coffee and pastries were all of high quality. Excellent value.  We shall be back

Difficult to say because we were happy. Tea and coffee in room were good but some choice of herbal tea and in the room would have been nice - but we didn't ask so that was our fault. I am nitpicking.

Well located, right on the beach, and just a short walk out of town to the hiking trails.

The hotel was in a prime position close to all the amenities.

Bedroom was dated and bathroom very dated, shower needed upgrading. Poor WiFi no communication of passcode had to visit reception to connect. Breakfast was good but buffet area too small to accommodate a full restaurant. Kept running out of eggs and bacon within minutes. Bar area ok but thought bar prices were expensive and some bar staff were abrupt.

You used to have proper table cloths on dining room tables and that was much nicer. Coffee machine did not produce particularly good coffee.

Room very dated. No information regarding Wi-Fi or codes in the room. Had to hunt around for the tv control. Bathroom was very good and shower was awesome. Shame the window didn’t open very far, especially as there was no air conditioning in the room. Bed mattress very strange, whole mattress appeared to “tilt” when sitting on it or just getting into bed.

The location of the hotel is excellent and the parking permit offered by the hotel is a real bonus. The communal areas of the hotel are in good condition and there was plenty of room to sit and enjoy a drink. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was excellent value for money.

The room was a little tired looking and could do with updating in particular the bathroom.

It was absolutely a fantastic and serene experience staying here. The staff were excellent and all kind with all their services. Everything in the property is spot on!

The location was ideal; looking onto the beach, and such a pretty part of the beach, it was a lovely morning walk! Breakfast was standard, enjoyed the hot breakfast, and only had cereal from the continental breakfast but looked pretty standard. Liked the fact they had a vegan and a normal coffee machine, I'm not vegan but appreciated the inclusivity. Liked the old worldly style of the decor and enjoyed the lounge with a end of evening drink. The bedding was super comfy and from that point of view would have had a super sleep. I also loved the size as a solo traveller for the night.

I would have really appreciated air-conditioning as the window only opened about 5cm at the bottom (meaning it was pretty useless from a ventilation point of view) and the provided fan was incredibly dusty and noisy making my sleep a bit disjointed. The shower tub combo was very welcomed but couldn't seem to run a bath, only use the shower portion. Not overly difficult to rectify, but had to fill the bath from the shower. Neither of these things are huge minuses just minor little things that could have made a good experience great if they were rectified.

Right by the sea front and within walking distance to town centre and pier. The hotel staff were polite and friendly.

Slow running plumbing in the bathroom with the sink in particular filling up and not draining quickly just from hand washing. There were hairs left in the bath from the previous guest.

La ubicación, la habitación era muy espaciosa. El desayuno muy bueno. El personal amabilísimo. Nos cambiaron un colchón que era demasiado blando.

Una parte de las habitaciones estaban renovadas . No fue nuestro caso. Los colchones de muelles eran muy blandos y no muy cómodos.

Excellent location and delicious breakfast.

Initially, despite paying extra for a family sea view, we were placed in a room at the side of the building where you couldn't see the view at all. I was very upset about this, but the staff were great and moved us immediately. Lack of plugs in the room, none near the bed and had to request an extension lead for my husband's medical equipment. No fridge in the room, but were able to request one, although they have a limited amount. Television extremely difficult to use.

Room with sea view, very clean and comfortable. Staff friendly, restaurant and public rooms very attractive, eveing meal and breakfast was very good. Free ice lollies and water in reception area most welcome on a hot day.

Fantastische ligging met mooi zeezicht. Zeer ruime kamers. Persoonlijk is bijzonder vriendelijk en het restaurant voortreffelijk. Op wandelafstand van de pier. Positieve ervaring, voor herhaling vatbaar !

De kamers waren behoorlijk warm maar de eerlijkste gebiedt om te zeggen dat we er ook waren in een periode waarop het extreem warm was. Zal in 95% van de gevallen geen probleem zijn…

Einfacher aber hübsches Hotelzimmer.

Bodentiefe Fenster die beim Zimmerbezug geöffnet waren. Lebensgefährlich für unsere 2 Kleinkinder. Leider keine andere Möglichkeit zu lüften.

Room was lovely and airy. Newly refurbed. Staff were very friendly and professional.

Booked a double room but it was singles when we arrived , however the staff put it right straightaway with no trouble at all.

Überhaupt nicht mochten wir die Rechtfertigung, dass ein seitlicher Meerblick über eine Seitenstraße auch die Kategorie „seaview“ erfüllt. Zudem ist das Hotel und die Ausstattung der Zimmer wirklich ‚sehr alt‘. Keine Klima, Fenster nur bedingt zu öffnen, Bad wirklich alt und eng.

Fabulous hotel in a great location, lovely large family room one of the biggest in the UK I have stayed in. Great staff, very accomodating and polite.

The parking, although you can get permits to park not all roads around the hotel are within these permits.

Luxurious, comfortable and ideal location

Parking can be difficult as spaces (on street) fill up fast. But the hotel provides parking vouchers for £2.50 per day.

We had booked a standard double room. Probably one of the most overpriced and sub standard rooms we’ve stayed in ever. The room was clean but very basic and sparsely furnished. The furniture was old, dated and damaged. The door to the bathroom was a sliding door which was extremely difficult to open and close and noisy. The bathroom had a really old sink and the toilet looked like it needed a good dose of bleach. Drab curtains hung at the small window of opaque glass to hide the horrible view. Vastly overpriced for this standard of room. Even if we’d paid half of what we had paid it would still have been overpriced.
