OYO Devonshire Park Hotel

Breakfast had a variety of choices and was good , hotels position was very convenient for us. The in house Indian restaurant was very good , 5 of us eat here on our first night and would recommend it.

Upon arrival the car park was completely full, however we managed to find a place in the road reasonably close by, being fairly late in the season I think that was ok but in the height of summer could be different.

Near the sea and walking distance from almost everything! Great comfortable bed! Great staff! Great fresh breakfast! If you like Indian food there is a great restaurant on premises in the evening! Will definitely try to get here again!!

Wir hatten die geräumige Wilmingtonsuite, Parkplätze waren auch immer frei. Typisch Britisches Mittelklasse-Badeorthotel. Super, um die Seven Sisters zu erwandern. Gute Restaurants (Locanda del duca und ein Libanese: Cedarz) nahebei.

Alles etwas in die Jahre gekommen (abgewetzte Teppichkanten an der Treppe, abgestoßene Ecken).

The bed was amazing and the shower was so easy to use. The staff were lovely.

The hotel is in a good central location, a short walk to the beach and not too far from shops and restaurants. The staff are professional and very friendly. Our room was at the back of the hotel overlooking gardens and was very quiet. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable. There was a good choice of hot food at breakfast and a buffet selection of juice, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and pastries.

The hotel is very pleasant but would benefit from a bit of refurbishment as some of the decor and furniture are looking a bit shabby, however the hotel is very clean and comfortable.

Beautiful hotel, full of curiosities, lovely to see so much original character and charm. Room was immaculate, staff very welcoming, excellent breakfast, love the table service and not buffet style.

Having to wait half an hour for breakfast to arrive after ordering it, full english, and I wasnt offered any toast, I had to ask for it after I eventually received my breakfast, and no refill of coffee offered at any time. Staff did apologise for having to wait so long, other guests who arrived after me were receiving theirs long before me. Maybe because I was on my own, not sure, but felt a little abandoned. Wouldn't stop me returning though.

An excellent location - the hotel is five minutes from the seaside and the same distance from the train station and shopping area. Parking is available. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is an old building with lovely decorations on display (old cameras, gramophone etc.), there are three lounges where you can rest afterwards with a drink, play a game (lots of board games available) or watch videos (a large selection available). The twin room was very spacious.

The rooms were very hot during the day (hot weather outside) and would benefit from a fan.

The small fixed shower screen and plastic around the window of the shower could do with cleaning up with new mastic. Breakfast a little expensive. With the new Indian restaurant in the lower ground floor anyone has access to the hotel .

There was evidence of a leak/ water damage to several areas in the bedroom and bathroom . Some breakfast food was over cooked

Firstly we had a call from Hugh the manager to check a detail before we arrived and a very warm welcome when we did. We stayed in the Jevington suite which was lovely, very clean and comfortable Very spacious, lots of windows thankfully as it was very warm that night. I have a few food allergies and the chef personally came to my table to discuss these to which I was very grateful and impressed by. The breakfast was very tasty and well cooked. Good decent sausage too. The waiting staff were fantastic also. I highly recommend staying here, it is clean, friendly and local to all amenities

I think every room should have a fan as our summers are getting hotter. The Indian restaurant downstairs of the hotel whilst I'm sure has nice food. DO NOT BOTHER IF YOU HAVE ANY ALLERGIES

Location excellent for our needs! Quirky and old fashioned especially with the small lounge areas and the historic items! Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and plenty of choice of pastries, cereal and yoghurt.

Weather very hot and no available fans. Some maintenance issues which were addressed promptly but property rather tired in places. Man on the evening shift a little stressed as on his own to work reception, bar and everything else and hotel fully booked!

The hotel is well placed for a short stroll to the beach and there are plenty of shops and restaurants close by. The room is spacious with a very comfortable bed and there are lifts to all floors. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the Indian restaurant served excellent food. There are quiet lounges if you need to get away for a little reading and there are tables outside for an al fresco drink. WiFi reception was good. Parking is available on site.

It was a very hot weekend and it was difficult to keep the room cool as there is no air conditioning and no fans in the room. It is a little dated and in need of a lick of paint, and there is no safe box or fridge in the room.

Tutto il resto. Edificio in stile vittoriano, probabilmente costruito alla fine dell’800 e da quel periodo sono stati cambiati solo i serramenti delle finestre. Camere scomode e sporche con una miriade di difetti, vedi foto. Colazione anonima in un scantinato. Per il prezzo pagato è una grandissima fregatura.

Lovely property very near the front & central to town & seafront . Great big room with separate sofa area a comfortable bed. Most of staff were friendly & willing to help . Breakfast was good with a choice of hot food cooked to order plus buffet pastries , cereal & fruit & juice.

The hotel is quite well positioned, 15 mins walk from train station and just a few mins from the beach. We went to Eastbourne to do the Seven Sisters trail and chose this accomodation for its price compared to the others in Eastbourne. Staff was very friendly and helpful and offered to upgrade our room to the garden suite free of charge.

The hotel itself is quite old, rooms look outdated and they've seen better days. Breakfast is not great either. The garden from our suite was pretty dirty from birds.

De lokatie van het hotel, de grootte van de kamer en de loungeruimtes zijn ons uitstekend bevallen. Een full English breakfast is voor ons te zwaar. Koffie, toast met jam, yoghurt en fruit is voor ons genoeg. Toen we dat aangaven bij de receptie, hoefden we maar een derde van de oorspronkelijke prijs te betalen!

De lage tonen van de muziek van het restaurant in het souterrain konden we soms horen in de kamer, die daar blijkbaar pal boven zit. Gelukkig hebben we daar niet echt last van gehad. Maar het kan voor sommige gasten irritant zijn als ze vroeg willen slapen.

Efficient check in and could drop off my bag before my hike. Reasonable walking distance from station. Good location and pretty quiet as located in a largely residential area. Fortunately could open windows as was warm. Large room.

Hotel and rooms tired decor but I guess thats what i was expecting for price given location. Felt more like a nursing home. Wasn't particularly clean and the shower was pathetic. Hardly any pressure. Didn't have breakfast. Served in lower ground floor and that was like a dungeon on a hot day.

Very limited parking, and they do not offer parking permits like the other hotels in the area. Room smelled musty and desperately needs a repaint. Stains around bathtub. Bin in bathroom wasn’t emptied when we checked in, containing rubbish presumably from previous occupants.

I might be wrong, but I get the impression a lot of hotels were built at the same time here. But this was a really great hotel with that in mind, the reception was really welcoming and the room very comfortable.

The breakfast was really good when it arrived, but I like a simple situation and this was a bit complicated. The guy asked me what I want but it turned into a whole conversation.. I just want a full English sometimes, no need for a whole dialogue re what I want. And I guess they make it for you as I waited 10 long minutes, which is ok if you know in advance

The proximity to the beach and to the theatres, art gallery and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were able to fulfil all our requests for suitable accommodation for our party.

The recent change in restaurant. We enjoyed our Indian meal but wouldn’t want to eat it every day. The rooms were very comfortable but there was some noise from the rooms next door and above.

This hotel has it's own individual charm. For my taste all I can say it is dated in its decor. Very clean and functional.

The hotel is superbly situated for Devonshire Park, the sea front and a short walk into town. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The bathroom was clean with a good shower.

The suite was on the top floor only accessible by a combination of lift and 2 flights of stairs (or 6 flights from the lobby). It was very hot indeed. A fan was supplied but it was a bit broken and needed propping up. The bar area was not staffed when we popped in for a coffee in the evening. The coffee and tea in the room wasn't great. The room was tired.

The hotel was excellent and in a perfect location for us. The staff were very friendly and our room was lovely and well appointed.

Very noisy people staying in the room next to ours, who came back at 12.30am and woke us up. Also a slight smell from the Indian restaurant when our window was open.

Great owner/ manager so helpful and very obliging. Even parked my car for me when a space in the road became available so we could leave it there for the following day, while at tennis. He gave us an upgrade too as there were 3 of us sharing a room. Lovely breakfast.

Pleased to discover there was a lift to get us to our second floor room. Having windows on two sides was a bonus for ventilation. Extra large bed was welcome. Breakfast was exceptional, with a wide choice (including fish if you wanted) and the service was prompt. There was a restaurant, but we chose to eat in some of the many other restaurants close by. Bistro Pierre has wonderful views over the sea and is a good choice - if you are prepared to wait.

The hotel is located 5 minutes away from the seaside in a quiet area. We really loved how clean the room was.

Shabby decor very tired to the point you couldn’t tell if it had been cleaned. We stayed in room 11. The bath was small and the sealant was split around the bath and mouldy. The bed was uncomfortable and had lots of dips in the mattress.

The room was large, clean, and very comfortable. The bathroom was exceptional, with a lovely bathtub and full shower. The receptionist was friendly and very attentive to our questions. The breakfast was delicious and a great value for the price. The breakfast servers were also very kind and attentive. The location of the property was perfect to access the downtown and waterfront area. The parking was secure and spacious.

A hotel with character, in good condition and mostly un-modernised so had charm and interest as a building, it was not one of those soulless modern chain hotels. Nice cooked breakfast. It is unusual for reviews of a hotel on Booking.com to be so different to the actual reality. I had not stayed at this hotel before on my many visits to Eastbourne, but based on the excellent reviews I decided to book at the Devonshire Park Hotel. On climbing the stairs to my room, it was obvious the condition of the hotel had deteriorated from the time the photographs used on the Booking.com website were taken. The stair carpet was threadbare in places. On entering my room the first thing I noticed was how badly stained the carpet was. The arms of two chairs in the room were black with dirt. The room furniture was shabby. The bathroom was not cleaned properly with hairs on the floor The underneath of the toilet seat was badly stained.

As a retired hotel manager, I tend to value customer service even more than the physical product itself. You can stay in a five-star hotel with poor service or a three-star hotel with five-star service, and this hotel certainly falls into the latter category. The staff were excellent throughout our stay, and Hugh deserves a special mention. His wealth of local knowledge, friendly approach, and genuine willingness to help made a real difference to our visit. He went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our stay, and his professionalism is a credit to the hotel. Thank you for making our short trip a success!

A quiet location and located 1 minute from the Congress theater, the staff were welcoming and friendly, but nothing was too much trouble. On our visit, the only downside was that the restaurant was closed, but there were plenty of eateries close by. We will be using this hotel again for future visits as it completed our holiday.

We came to Eastbourne for a concert at Congress Theatre which was directly across the street. The staff was extremely helpful. We ended up extending our stay.

Our room was large, it had everything we needed in it, was clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel has it's own carpark that is free for guests (bonus), a lift, several dining rooms and sitting rooms, free wifi and is so close to the beach and shops/restaurants. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was closed during our stay but staff recomended several restaurants and gave us a map to get to them!!

Our car was blocked in in the car park (unfortunately there's not enough parking anywhere in Eastbourne) Anyway, the staff were very quick to locate the driver and ask them to move.

The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Parking was free. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Had an issue with fixtures in the bathroom but reported them and they were fixed. TV also only received a few channels but this was due to be rectified asap.
