Clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly Breakfast very good
Door to balcony very difficult to open and close. Couldn’t open small window at all
Location
The bed in the room I was allocated had the worst mattress I have seen in a long while. It was like a hammock. I asked to move room to a single room where I could move the mattress and sleep on the floor. Come on booking.com this is not acceptable!
Great all round
NA
Large room, good location. Main bed comfy Bar look great and view but did not get chance use Receptionist super friendly
Sofa bed was very uncomfortable Shower head did move and little difficult
Lovely location Big beds
Staff not as friendly as they used to be
Great location
Rattling of plumbing from adjacent rooms in the morning
The location was fantastic for what we required of our stay. The bar area is quite nice and the food in the restaurant was ok, the staff were not the friendliest. The breakfast was nice and the head waitress Maggie is an absolute Gem of the hotel, her witty cheeky personality unfortunately hasn’t rubbed off on other members of staff. The water pressure is crazy takes seconds to run a bath .
It is a little dated and I’m not sure the head of house keeping checks the rooms before guests arrival as there were several little things that should of been dealt with, Curtains lacked hooks to stop them falling of the end of the pole and also not enough hooks on pole. Only one window opened, we asked for a double bed and got given two single beds pushed together and we kept rolling into the gap. The extractor fan didn’t work, the shower head was faulty and sprayed out and soaked the bathroom floor realised I could re angle it, but the top of the shower was thick with dust. The carpets are thread bare and it definitely doesn’t have good sound proofing.
Location
No staff on reception, waited 20 mins Over priced for out of season. Carpets worn through on the stairs, looked shabby, rooms small, bed squeaked, brick wall view expensive @ £125 per night
Very classy hotel
Nothing
Feel I only paid for the location
Furnishings faded and scratched really poor for the price totally needs upgrading but pleasant enough originally I guess
A comfortable, relaxing stay .At a great location.
A lift would be good.
Beautiful property, with stunning views , Parking which is always a plus these days ! And a wonderful breakfast Couldn’t ask for more and will definitely be back
Cleaning of the room not so great
The location was excellent, it was clean, comfortable. Breakfast was good - the best porridge I have had in years.
Not a lot... if I was being picky then a better selection of tea bags in the room I.e. fruit teas
Our room was great , food lovely and easy check in and out housekeeping was great too
Lack of staff and on our last evening the bar was closed at 8.30pm. Yes there were 3 other people in the bar at the time and as we departed to our room my husband heard the staff closing the bar - what if we had changed our mind!!!
It's a traditional hotel Staff excellent Food excellent
For a 3star hotel seems like a 4star: Staff excellent. Main hotel, restaurants decor excellent. Food good. Great view terrace. Close to sea. Great history. Nostalgia area & amenities.
Nothing
LOCATION
POOR PLUMBING IN THE ROOM, ALARM GOING OFF 43 TIMES AT 6 AM ON SUNDAY MORNING, NO FOOD AVAILABLE ON OUR ARRIVAL DAY DUE TO A FAULT IN THE KITCHEN. NO PHONE IN THE ROOM, NO COMMS REGARDING FIRE ALARM SOUNDING.
The food wasn’t good and our tv didn’t work
Very nice clean room, parking. Lovely shower, slept really well..breakfast was very good with a good choice. Check out time is very reasonable...we enjoyed our stay and will be back. Thank you.
Easy to find, nice rooms, great view from the bar/restaurant/terrace. Staff really helpful send friendly
The only thing I don’t like is some rooms are o. The very top floor and there’s no life access, and relatively narrow corridors
Location!!
Roast dinner!!
Great position
Balcony looked out on ventilation pipes from kitchen
Great location.
The price was slightly more than I pay.
Room was very clean, and bed was comfortable. Loved the bottles of water in the room.
The shower seemed a bit tired and needed updating as the shower tray needed sealing again as there was black mould forming on it. Also 2 of the tiles had coloured stains on them not sure what it was.
Friendly staff, clean and functional room, great location.
We felt the room was over priced for what it was.
Receptionist was wonderful, and very helpful and friendly. Nice location.
Room was baking hot with just a small plug in fan available. It was a heatwave outside, and the sun was streaming in the windows, but only one bedroom window would open. I got zero sleep because the room was so hot. The bathroom was tiny and not very clean at all. Dinner service was so slow that I only had a starter. I stay at the Cliff about twice a year for work and love the location. However, I’ve found the hotel has become very tired and shabby, and is in need of updating. The service in the restaurant is not good, and the menu needs some serious work. The included breakfast was not explained to me, and I just had to copy what everyone else was doing as there were no staff to ask. I won’t be booking in again I’m afraid.
Great staff, food and drink all excellent. We all loved the outside terraced area. Thanks for a great weekend, will definitely return.
Rooms and carpets a little tired
Location
No fridge in room or safe for valuables
Excellent location. Brilliant staff. Breakfast was v nice
Our room had the vent pipes outside the balcony. Was a little noisy. But ok.
Nice hotel , breakfast lovely , staff lovely, and location good
Very convenient location. Pleasant staff.
Basic double room with two big steps up to the bathroom, which meant leaving a light on to use it in the night.
Clean and close to the beach
Clean’ and nice breakfast
Nice location view nice views of Gorleston beach
They had a wedding reception at the venue on Saturday and it was loud. There were kids running and screaming even up the stairs on the room landings. The bar area was busy and it was hard to get served it felt like the wedding took over and we guests didn’t matter. We went out to get away only to return to an even noisy party as a disco was playing. You just couldn’t escape the noise
Fantastic location with the terrace over looking the beach. Room was spacious and comfortable. Good selection at breakfast
It was hot but we had a fan. Breakfast was busy and took a while to top up supplies. Sausages were not good on day 2
Loved the location of the hotel, cleanliness and the friendly staff made it a stay to remember.. I had been recommended the hotel from a few people and it didn't disappoint. Raya in the hospitality area was a pleasure and looked after us. Maggie in the Muse restaurant was a laugh and very helpful. My Mum doesn't eat a lot but they accommodated her. I would certainly recommend the hotel and would return. Carry on chaps!
The only niggle was the cold tap on my shower didn't work. I thought it was doing something wrong as they're all different. It worked in the bath. I can wash my hair in hot water but not shower in it so I had a bath. I did tell reception and they said there were some plumbing issues and thanked me for the feedback.
Excellent location, although only if you’re mobile. Friendly staff, comfortable beds and white fluffy towels. Excellent breakfast and tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Bathroom nice size but mould/mildew around shower screen and bath. Also plug for bath was black - not a good look for the sake of new plug. Pressure on shower good though. Three tiles broken by sink although they had been taped up.
Staff were amazing
Reception, house keeping and restaurant staff were lovely. Great location. beautiful view. rooms were a good size and they tried to locate all rooms near each other as much as possible which has good. Good car park. Breakfast was great
we couldnt open one of the windows in one of the rooms which wasnt sorted till the evening of the 2nd night....bearing in mind the heatwave!
Staff tried to be helpful and the view of the sea was nice
Dirty tea cups. No plates at the toast area fruit bowl empty no tea spoons available. Was instructed to use knive for buttering toast for any other breakfast courses. Slow service. Bathroom in the room dirty and in poor condition from inadequate cleaning. Noisy hotel room from other guests. Snoring and talking from adjoining rooms.
Location realy good. Staff were nice and helpfull.
Plaster falling off walls in hallway. Cutlery was durty, tea pots were rusty

Location
The food was awful, way too expensive it’s old and not so clean
The bar and music were good.
The roast was awful potatoes hard, all mattresses hard and springy, doors slamming all night, humid hot room and dirty, room wasnt cleaned, floor boards creaky and loose all over the rooms and hallways. Dirty over all
Location is great and the history behind the building is interesting. Staff are very friendly.
An old building which is not a problem however the windows could do with a clean - likewise the glass around the outside terrace of the bar too. The balcony was a lovely space however once again this could be cleaned and possible freshened up - it was like sitting on a roof overlooking a dirty glass lantern - I know with so many seagulls and Pigeons this may be a hard ask however it looked as if nothing had been cleaned for months! Disappointing.
Very comfortable, the bed was huge. Loved the informal feeling.
Last night there were new people above us with children . They were jumped by on the floor until gone 12 and talking in normal voices until early hours .
Got a late deal
Small room with no view but last minute deal so fine
Great location ! The staff did there absolute best. Friendly and efficient but I think they were severely understaffed. Disappointed to find no one on reception from 5pm onwards, again the other staff had to try and compensate whist doing their other jobs.
Lack of staff...but the ones there did their best.
Superb location, warm welcome from Jules on reception who was very helpful. Our room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. We have been touring around France staying in various hotels, this was our favourite by far!
No complaints. Absolutely fabulous. Thank you.
The bed was comfy.
It is old and needs modernization. The staff are very rude and unprofessional. I would never stay there again.
Location front b of hotel good back side hotel rooms poor
Hard pillows, although 5 on bed, all too firm, 1st nig h t clicking all night sound, 2nd night, constant noise from outside air-conditioning system
Room 105 was more spacious than our previous stay, which was great 👍 the staff are all very attentive. The hotel is clean and modern and the breakfast was very good 👍.
We would like some form of music on in the bar in the evening as it was too quiet please. Also air conditioning in the rooms would be very welcome.
Staff very efficient & friendly, good breakfast and a great location.
Staff were excellent
Everything was fine
Breakfast was good and easy to access
Room was extremely hot. Due to heat wave conditions
Breakfast fine staff fantastic
No control on TV volume people are so inconsiderate playing the TV at a high volume at ridiculous times just a complete joke
Breakfast and location were great
Location great for each and prom walks
Room facilities, Cliff Suite, not as described.
Lovely location Great terrace overlooking the sea
A little dated
Staff lovely, great views. Clean and tidy. The breakfast was lovely.
The food was overpriced in the restaurant. Prawns not fresh, clearly defrosted in warm water. Would have expected fresh being by the seaside.
The location was good, food very good, the room very comfortable
The bath in the middle of the room, no where to put toiletries in the bathroom, hand towels, the shower levers were very stiff as if they haven’t been used for a while and not able to regulate the hot and cold water supply to the shower. On top of that the fuse box tripped in the shower room.
Location is excellent
Location
Great location. The staff were so nice and friendly and the bed was so comfortable. I ate in the hotel one evening and when I went to pay I was told that there was a discount for people staying at the hotel which was a nice surprise. The breakfast each morning was also lovely.
I paid for a sea view room with a balcony. The sea view was lovely but I wouldn't book a balcony again as this couldn't be used due to the sea gulls being on there constantly. I couldn't even have the door open as one sea gull tried to get into the room each night.
Sea view that I had asked for
The room was stuffy couldn't open the window had to leave the fan on Very worn and tired Few step to bathroom unsafe But clean
Very clean, staff very friendly, prime location, good parking.
No lift, I am an older individual and stairs are an issue. I would ensure when booking any future accommodation I would ensure to check. Also I would ensure the bathroom had an assessible shower. I was only staying a short period but longer would have been an issue
Needs proper maintenance on cleanliness, the place looks grand but poorly managed.
The tiles on the toilet needs brushing
Location
Small room
Lovely staff. Nice view. Large bed and quality bedding Wonderful breakfast. Maggie is a gem.
Disappointed bath was full of short hairs - shaving ? No hot water in morning
Great location, lovely view, good food, great staff. The manageress even fixed our car!
No shower caddy in the shower - made showering difficult!
View and location
Understaffed bar. Waiting 20 minutes for a bar drink as they were not serving anyone waiting at the bar. You had to be seated first. Then under staffed at breakfast the following morning. Tables full of dirty dishes and cups and glasses. Took over 15 minutes to order a coffee as no self serve option. Coffee was tepid at best. Left without having breakfast due to one person trying to do the jobs of 3. Mentioned this at reception on way out.
Breakfast good. Fair choice
Didnt have a nice view of anything out of the window just brick walls and recycling bins
Clean and quiet. Lovely food.
No lift in hotel. Lots of stairs.
Breakfast was a good experience, Maggie is lovely. The restaurant staff and food was really good. Bar prices were cheaper than other places. Bed was really comfortable, had great sleep.
The staircase carpet needs to be replaced. The curtains in our room were tatty, ripped on the edges. Nowhere to put your soap in the shower, the floor kept getting wet, because the screen on the bath isnt big enough to stop th spray of water. I am just over 6ft and had to bend in the shower to get under drencher, and the drencher head was loose.
Friendly, convenient and comfortable
Nothing
Location was excellent, especially for the beach. Hotel was clean and tidy. Pleasant staff and breakfast/food was good.
Would have been nice to eat dinner at the hotel but we wasn't keen on the selection of meals and price.
Great location
The view from our room of pipes walls and chimney pots
It was perfect for us one night parking In hotel so very little walking
Room was small but for us one fine Bathroom tap extra could to with over Hall drain for plug holes But is a old building
Rooms were so cosy. No noise surrounding.
The main reason we booked was restaurant onsite and a place to stay the night. We went to restaurant and they said fully booked. So we said bar menu was fine. We was told sorry serving no more food as too busy. So we left the site and walked to the pier hotel. Was very nice in there
Breakfast was amazing. I didn't get the ladies name that served us, but she was absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much bother.
The rooms were a bit dated, but they were clean and comfortable.
everything was really nice will be back there .
nothing
Location and clean
My tv didn’t work
A friendly welcome from the receptionist and as the booking was for a 60th birthday balloons and banners were in the room.
Room was a bit small for the price paid.
Loved the location and the friendly staff.
Stair carpet is a bit threadbare on the way uo to rooms and gives a bad first impression even though the rest of the hotel is lovely
I’ve been going to Gorleston for many years and hope to return many more times it’s got everything you need. The public toilets sometimes are a little neglected.
The public toilets
Fantastic location overlooking the beach Great cocktails in the terrace bar Comfortable room
Nothing
Breakfast and location very good. Beds very comfortable Extended car parking facility
Difficult to reach twin room on second floor without lift. Needed a ground floor twin room option
The location
Our room. We treated ourselves to a a sea view with balcony room which was a huge disappointment. We overlooked a roof with seagulls nesting and covered with bird poo. There was a constant whirling sound of the hotel kitchen extractor fans and the aircon system for nearby flats. The couple in the next room to us felt the same way.
Loved our room ❤️
View wasn't great, overlooking outside bar area and ongoing site work. Also bar food was very basic and not up to standard we have previously had there.
Beautiful Art Deco breakfast room, terrace that looks out to sea. Art Deco styling in rooms, furnished to a high quality (but showing a little wear now). Real ale in the bar at a very good price. Great breakfast, mix of buffet and table service. Reusable bottles of water in room. Friendly staff
By chance there was a big event on, so difficult to contact reception to advise late arrival, we checked in anyway!
Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The location with a view of the beach was stunning. The lunchtime food was good. Cocktails and drinks were great. The areas on the ground level were well presented.
The rooms need updating particularly the furniture and bathroom was unclean due to use, the shower did not operate correctly, the sink seemed to block and tap hard to operate. Overall the room was poor and I would have happily paid more at this hotel had the rooms been up to date. I cannot however complain about the bed and sheets were clean, we also had a pleasant view as opted for a room with a sea view. I will keep an eye on this hotel for future as if the rooms are refurbished I would definitely return.
breakfast very good . Room nice and new and clean . Dinner, was very reasonably priced .Chips were good but loaded chips with cheese must have been very very mild cheese as no cheese taste whatsoever . Would have been lovely to taste the cheese . tempura prawns has normal fish batter not tempura batter . Soggy bread tuna and cucumber sandwich ,thin mayo ,watery . Would have been great if thicker consistency ..Ate there a lot and food was ok .Just a few complaints . All in all a very nice stay there and would go again .But would be wonderful if they had pizza oven and served pizza .They would do very well with it. Perhaps next time they will have one .
No lift .Just a tiny one would do to the bedrooms .No pizza served . No streaky bacon .Ran out of clotted cream for scones .THE WORST THING that I found really strange and very annoying was that the scones were made with BROWN flour and so were dry and hard . Such a shame I would have had one every day and so would my husband, as they looked nice apart from the brown colour. Inever knew people made BROWN FLOUR SCONES .Look at all good chefs .Its WHITE FLOUR for scones .Please use white next time
Excellent location, sea views, clean and tidy, good food, lively roo.m
I liked everything about my stay
Close to beach
The room wasn’t air conditioned and the window couldn’t be opened This was in the middle of a red weather alert There were multiple items on each menu that they had run out of and food produced was not very nice
The location is perfect. All the staff are lovely with excellent customer service skills. Always friendly and ready with a smile to assist where ever needed.
The only objection was paying extra to have a balcony with sea view. Our sea view was the roof of the restaurant and the air conditioning unit which made noise all throughout the night. The balconies do not get checked as a seagull had made a nest and had 2 babies. This meant if we did sit out for some air, we were dive bombed by the parents and screamed at the whole time we were out there, looking at the restaurants roof!
Beautiful beach, lovely walks
Really friendly helpful staff and excellent food. Lovely room.
lovely outside area looking across the beach breakfast was fine location was great And good parking
rooms a bit dated carpets looking older
Clean, good position
The long wait after ordering food, my only complaint
Perfect location for nearby birthday celebration
No lift very difficult for us going up stairs
