We always stay at The Stuart Hotel when to visit Derby, The staff couldn’t do enough for us as we recently a family bereavement , Lauren your manager went above and beyond helping us and generally just sitting and chatting making sure that we were ok, 10/10
Nothing at all, it was perfect
Friendly staff, good location - and you can open the windows ( important to me)
Furnishings a bit tired - but even worse was fact that there were items of dirt stuck to the bedside units - obviously had not had a deep clean for some time. Also mould stains in bathroom - sealant needs a refresh. Also dirty behind "soap rack" on the wall.
I liked the walks had to slow anxiety i have. I came to visit my children requested for food to put in a fridge I was let down even though I'd expressed it before hand. The morning I left I left with food damp that was my money on children's food wastes
Nothing apart from the best the size of the room the staff was unpleasant
Great location, friendly staff, nice breakfast.
Rooms a bit tired, but very clean
Room was cosy enough, the breakfast was fab. Staff very friendly and helpful .
The bath needed a little more cleaning .
good location, next to Tesco express where we were able to get breakfast things
bath that was difficult to get in & out, should have a hand rail to aid people or..... get rid of the bath & have a walk-in shower
Breakfast ok but bacon really hard. Empty trays had to wait for food.
If you are having a bath, the soap/shower gel provided doesn’t come out of the holder. Ok if you’re having a shower but not good if having a bath.
The location to the train station & to town centre
No issues
Lots of choices at Breakfast My only gripe was I asked the server for poached eggs on brown toast no butter. I was told I had to make my own toast, I explained I wanted the eggs on the toast so I will make it and give it to the server I made toast but now have to wait until the server was available to give her my toast Most hotels I have stayed in this has never been a problem I believe because this is a buffet style breakfast the things that you ask for off the buffet should be served with a higher standard It what separate Marriott from Premier Inn

The staff are very welcoming the hotel is clean
Quiet nights sleep. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good size room.
Breakfast was hot and very good--location excellent but a bit more than the 2 minutes walk from the station that the hotel states-more like 10 minutes.Room was fine but just a bit cramped between the bed and the dressing table.
Would have preferred a walk in shower as i am getting a bit older and the bath one was a touch difficult to get in and out of.
Very good breakfast. Comfortable beds Ample parking Location Helpful staff
Unfilled shower gel Parts of the bathroom could do with a deeper clean Old TV - no wifi/Internet capability
Locality to shopping and properties to visit
It is clean
Everything exactly met expectations, but didn't exceed them. Nice location for walking to the Derbion shopping mall. Parking available, but you do have to pay £5.50 a day.
Don't expect a warm welcome, but the staff are professional. One note... Ignore the emails and SMS messages instructing you to give more information and check in early. These messages contain a veiled threat that you won't be able to get into the room without registering and replying first. Nonsense. This is just information fishing and unauthorised data collection. I checked in normally at reception just like any other reputable hotel.
Nothing
Everything
very accommodating and has the friendly touch from staff we look for.
Attentive staff and clean facilities.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Run down, scruffy, worn out bed and furniture, not very clean, sink plumbing didn't work, carpark resembled a waste ground.
The location to Derby city centre was perfect
It was very hot inside the room but we had a fan which helped. We had problems with our water, first the toilet was leaking and the sink blocked. Then in the morning our toilet wouldn’t flush at all
Good location and comfortable room
Room was comfy and quiet and the hotel was well located for my needs, situated between the railway station and the city centre.
Only slight complaint was that there was no a/c in my room on a warm night but the windows do open to ally air in.
Close to bus and train stations
The room was quite warm
Staff were very welcoming and professional. Rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. Good location.
Nothing
It was close to town
Too hot but that’s no one’s fault
Nothing
No water in room no lifts. General grubby
Breakfast and Location only
Everything about the stay was disappointing. The room and toilet were extremely cramped, and the staff were unhelpful. Guests in the next room were fighting and making noise throughout the night, yet no one intervened. We couldn’t sleep until around 3 a.m. Despite repeatedly calling reception, no one answered until someone eventually called us back at 3 a.m. Parking was paid. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend this hotel.
Staff were all cheery and helpful. Location was excellent. Breakfast was very good, especially the freshly cooked omelettes.
The rooms were very tired and some fittings were in very poor condition. It was a shame there wasn't a cosy, more comfortable area to enjoy a drink with friends.
Value for money
Nothing
Nice room..Friendly staff..5 minute stroll to train station. Nice breakfast. Good value
I loved the experience as a first time in derby I was gratefull for the option of having a bath and a shower
It maybe be you could consider getting air con as during a heatwave it could possibly be uncomfortable other then that it was value for money
Thanks for a pleasant stay. 👏👍
The property was in a good location in relation to our event
A bit of a rabbit Warren in terms of narrow corridors, stairs etc.
room was a good space and great location
ni issues
Was just what was needed for a one night stay. Was comfortable, clean the bathroom was stocked with shower gel, shampoo & hand wash. No complaints at all from ourselves!
My husband thought there was not enough normal coffee compared with decaffeinated which there was more.
Very convenient location, close to the city centre and train station.
Maintenance of facilities could be improved. I found the absence of irons in the rooms inconvenient; having to go downstairs to get one and an ironing board, and return afterwards, was not great.
We liked the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast included was nice and lots of choice. It's was very quiet in our room so slept well.
Clean and comfy Close to town centre
Clean and friendly. Good parking. Perfect
Nothing.
Toilet in room above continuously refilling keeping me away as pipe went through room
No air conditioning in building
The above and difficulty getting in and out of the bath due to poor positioning of hand rail
Staff are very kind, very helpful. Property was very clean. Great breakfast? Excellent location. Really it’s a lovely place
Unfortunately, a few unsavoury inebriated characters during certain times of the day seem to gather outside of the hotel. Not a pleasant experience for the guests or staff. I did have to point out to a member of staff, that the main door on the ground floor was left open which led to guests rooms. Normally only guests would be able to gain access with a swipe of their key card. The staff member looked into this straight away.
Frienldy staff
Room was not clean, hairs in the sink, bed and a lot of dust. There was also a bad smell in the bathrom, specifically the shower. A lot of noise late at night due to my room's window looing out into a tesco express carpark. Had to keep curtains closed at all times as tesco customers were parking their cars directly up against my window. Didn't bother asking to be moved to another room as a collegue who was on a different floor had the same experience regarding noise and cleanliness.
The hotel is within easy reach of the town centre, there is a reasonable priced carpark at the back of the hotel, a Tesco's under neath it and a late-night food place a few doors up. The hotel is a little tired round the edges, but the rooms are clean the beds are comfortable the staff are very helpful and friendly - I stay in this hotel whenever I go to Derby as it is ideal for my requirements
Not sure how to begin I believe the hotel is under new ownership possibly foreign. the positive comments about the place must have been made whilst under the previous owners There is no way the ratings of excellent, very good even average can be awarded now. The place is appalling No reception. manager must live off site as you have to phone him bedroom lacking any character with basic furniture and a prevasiv smell of damp throughout the place Although we didn't use it ,the bar which was for most part unstaffed was uninviting and seemed to be used in part for storage Told they were full but saw no one Buffet breakfast uninspiring Looks ok from outside. But appearances can be very deceptive
We have stayed here multiple times, staff as usual couldn’t do enough for you especially Lauren who is an absolute legend
The only downside to our stay was the shower in the room , there wasn’t an anti slip mat and the pressure was very low
Stayed in room 123 for business trip with very early start. Must commend LAUREN : she gave us such an enthusiastic welcome on arrival, checked us in quickly and did everything she could to help and make the stay enjoyable. On the 2nd hottest day of the year the room had a fan which was effective, we were given a jug of milk on request for tea/coffee, the pizza was cooked freshly and flavoursome and the car park was easy access at very good price. Due to our 4.30 start LAUREN made sure our team had fresh croissants/pain au choc , coffee and tea available before we left. Thank you so much Enjoy your holiday
Very central, convenient to the town. Friendly staff.
Needs a bit of updating. Looking a bit tired.
Staff. They always go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. The hotel doesn't have air conditioning, it doesn't say anywhere that it has, and for the money you pay wouldn't expect it. However, that being said the team try to do as much as they can to help you feel comfortable in this current heat wave.
No shampoo, shower gel or hand soap, my own fault I could have mentioned this the next morning, but I didn't 🤷
Easy location with parking Though had to pay
Beds were a little squeaky
Located just a short walk from the train station, the room was spacious, clean and with a decent size TV. The staff were very helpful and professional.
The room was very hot with minimal ventilation- in desperate need of air con. Windows in room look like they’ve not been cleaned for a very long time - need to get a window cleaner in! Only fault on cleanliness - the room itself was spotless.
All went well
Nothing
Aamiainen oli riittävä. Se oli ensimmäinen aamiaiseni Brittein saarilla ja poikkesi vähän muualla syömistäni. Pekoni oli uskomattoman suurta, lihaisaa ja hyvää.

The location was excellent for visiting Derby City centre and restaurants. The railway station was nearby. We used the parking at the hotel which cost £5.70 for 24 hours. Excellent value. Brenda's Cafe is great for good filling breakfast, great value
The cleaning staff was awful. We arrived at the hotel to spend a long weekend for my 65th Birthday. Rubbish was still there from previous guests! We left the tag on the door for a refresh of towels and drinks. Nothing was provided. Husband went to reception and was handed fresh towels etc. Following day everything done but no replenishment of drinks. The receptionist Lauren couldn't do enough for us. For apologetic for everything that was wrong. Couldn't fault her. She gave excellent service above and beyond.
Confort des chambres et très bon acceuil Petit déjeuner
Insonorisation on entend la route Les moquettes sont un peu fatiguées
Stuart Hotel is within easy walking distance from Derby Train Station and City centre facilities
room was clean and had everything we needed.
fans could have been more powerful.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The bed was comfy.
The bathroom was disgusting. Broken shower head, black mould and orange staining. There is no excuse for this, there is bleach and other products which would easily clean this.
The girl on reception was very helpful and freindly, we stayed in room 203 on the 1st floor a lovely spacious room with a free standing fan which was a bonus as it was hot weather, the bed was very comfortable the pillows a little too firm for me but I always take my own as I struggle with pillows. A perfect location for walking into Derby city centre had a lovely meal at Bates 121 and visited the old pubs.
The shower was very tempremental trying to get the water temperature right and not very poweful. Spoons would have been better for making drinks rather than wooden stirrers.
The room was cosy and ideal for my needs. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed a great night's sleep. Also the location was excellent.
No complaints
Staff were brilliant, it was clean and comfortable but the furnishings were very tired It was ideal for our one night stop
Very tired furnishings
Near the centre Bed was ok and clean Staff were pleasent
Mould in the shower and shower door Lack of hangers Noisy door on the corridor as people came up and down Sticks not spoons for coffee Boxes and rubbish outside window good for rats.
Excellent staff clean large and comfy room.
Choice of beers very limited
Good all round - have stayed before and will do so again
.Lots of banging doors in the corridor
On entering the hotel it was very nice and stylish. Clean and tidy.. I liked the size of the room and the bed was very comfortable It was very nice and quiet where the room was situated
Ii didn't like that I could not use the fan as the PAT test on it was dated July 2024 and thought it was out dated so felt it was unsafe to use and the room got too hot. I did ask a member of staff about it and they said they would look in to i but didn't hear more about it. There wasn't any toilet roll in the bathroom on arrival and had to ask at the reception deck. I found that embarrassing and also there was no toilet brush to clean inside of the toilet. On the second night the handle broke off one of the cups...came off in hand, I was lucky I hadn't put any hot water in the cup yet. I mentioned it at reception and was told they would replace it, but it wasn't replaced. I found there wasn't enough hangers for the clothes for 2 adults staying 5 nights. There were only 5 hangers. On the website it stated it had a hairdryer available in the room, so I didn't take mind, but there wasn't one in the room.
Location, and reception staff good ,Plenty of hot water.
Room dirty ,mould on tiles in bathroom, no fridge, no safe for valuables. Wardrobe handle missing .and a large pile of rubbish Out side window of room 112. First time we have ever left a bad review. Would rather not leave one.But this was bad.
Petit déjeuner complet et varié en formule buffet - English Breakfast disponible, très apprécié. L'accueil a été très aimable, un bon accompagnement et une grande disponibilité. Parking disponible pour un prix raisonnable. Centre ville à proximité.
Comfortable and friendly staff.
I stayed for 3 nights but each 24 hours the keys would lock and I could not get in any door so many times I had to go downstairs again to unlock it even have said I was staying for 3 nights. And that was very annoying .
chambre petite, propreté à revoir.
Location, the very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast
The lack of a lift is a hindrance but only when first arriving and leaving with suitcases.
The hotel was ideally location for my purpose/function and the price was reasonable. We arrived early and every effort was made to accommodate us.. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
We were disappointed that there were no walking shower as we requested disability facilities.
Great location and perfect for work travel as its got parking so easy to walk in and out of the city.
Does exactly what it says on the tin - not glamourous but clean and comfortable
Lovely and central to everything
Nothing
Staff were nice and helpful
The room was inaccessible due to technical issues with the room key and door, meaning we had to ask reception staff to open the door each time we entered. The toilet was continuously dripping throughout the night. Bathroom sink was blocked.
Price was great . Paid for a single room and got a double, bed comfy , staff nice
My room needed a little love , in places was a little damaged and had been badly repaired , large water stain on ceiling , wobbly handle to get into the bath ,
Great location. Wonderful staff.
Mold in bathroom.
The Breakfast was nit good no fried eggs no fruit flavour yoghurt. No taste in the coffee
All of it
The staff were kind and the breakfast was fine. The proximity to the train station and the town centre was convenient, while being away from a lot of noise.
The room was slightly grim. Some light touch ups could go a long way. Aircon should be installed. The hallway was very hot and clammy.
Location perfect for intended visit
Noise from my window early hours of the morning
Great staff and facilities

Basic hotel
Room very hot
Perfect location for my visit. Its near the venue I was attending a function
Comfy bed, location
My bedroom window was broken and wouldnt close, I did report it and they offered another room but the other room seemed smaller so I just kept the window on safety lock. There was also constant banging doors outside and sometimes early in the morning and no fridge to keep drinks etc cool
It was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
The shower had hardly any pressure and it was either hot or cold.
The hotel is in a great location, around an 8-minute walk from Derby train station and within easy reach of the city centre. We stayed during Download Festival, and it was a convenient and affordable base. The bed was comfortable, and overall we felt it offered good value for money given the price and location.
The room was quite dated and on the small side. It also wasn’t as clean as we would have expected, and the décor could definitely do with some updating. While it was perfectly adequate for a short stay, those looking for a more modern or polished hotel may be disappointed.
Great location. Wonderful staff.
Mold in bathroom tub.
Nice and quiet
Breakfast
Convienient for railway station and city centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
It was great for the cost
I ordered a halloumi salad (after waiting an hour for the small restaurant to clear) which was actually really nice.
I can't believe that you pay for this experience (£75!!!). The place is falling apart and dirty. The bed was so big in the small room that you couldn't open the door fully (fire hazard?). The towels were stained and when I opened the window at night during the recent heat wave, I woke up to pigeon crap on the window sill inside. They had put a huge fan in the wardrobe (there was no where else it would fit) as there is no air co. I had only hung up one outfit for work, but when I came to put it on, the fan had been whirring out some white something or other and it was stuck to my clothes! Oh, and the sink in the bathroom was blocked. Get the impression the front of house staff try to be very friendly to make up for how awful it is but they can't do anything to improve the situation. Edit: the photos I attached to show the bird poop on inside window ledge, the door that couldn't open fully and the dirt on windows and clothes have been removed by booking.com
I have a enjoy stay at the hotel it is early got in to city centre and I am glad there tesco is next door
I wish there a lift it is will be easy
Great location for what we needed Huge room, lots of space even with the bed and 2 pull out beds Good breakfast, variety for the kids Staff friendly
Hotel has its own car park but you had to pay to use it Feels a little run down, could do with a coat of paint Shower pressure perfect if you wanted freezing cold, slow trickle if you wanted warm water Boiling hot day, no air con, fans did very little to help
The location of the hotel is convenient
The family room on the ground floor was filthy dirty, toilet seat broken. Black trash bins in the corridor. Extremely hot room. Dirty carpets. Dusty cupboards. Having to buy antibacterial wipes to wipe down all surfaces as I had a very active toddler with me. Never booking this hotel ever again ❌️❌️
Shower was very poor, very weak with little pressure. Hotel was in general a bit old and outdated but ok.
Shower. No nuts, seeds, granola, raisins etc for breakfast
Friendly efficient staff
Easy check in, helpful staff.showers.were excellent.
The toilet made a squeaking sound. Rooms were essentially clean but could do with a little more TLC
Location and staff.
Shower and bathroom needed updating.
**AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COST** Firstly if you see any of my other reviews you will see I don't complain about anything, ever.. until now!! This hotel is Horrendous! It is dirty, the carpets are worn through to the threads in several areas, one of which my wife tripped on, the walls are dirty, damaged and in need of repair, the general wood work is done!. The place stinks of cigarettes. The car park is insecure, shady at best and you have to pay for it!. There is no air-conditioning, no lifts. Just rickety old stairs. The stairs i can live with but everything else was to much!. (Please view a couple of pictures i took as we were leaving). We politely asked for another room to which they agreed, apart from being on the first floor unfortunately this was in worse order than the first room and still no air-conditioning. The final straw was the attitude of the "Manager" who point blank refused to refund us despite the fact we were at the hotel for 10 mins max and never touched or used anything, he reluctantly agreed to send an email to attempt to refund our second night stay.. We will see if that materialises! I am not done with this unprofessional lack of care to the customer. **AVOID**AVOID**
Pleasant reception staff Handy parking round the back Clean room Tesco Express next door
Intermittent WiFi Intermittent hot water in shower Boiling hot room, not necessarily their fault but still made it impossible to sleep even with a provided fan Hammering, drilling and sawing directly above us from 9.30am onwards Sunday morning
