Great location (hotel with the best location within Melrose Arch), exceptional staff who do everything with a smile on their faces, comfortable and spacious rooms, and lovely breakfast. One of the gentlemen at the front desk, Atlahang (I hope I got the spelling correct 🙏🏽) deserves a special mention - he is simply wonderful!

The rooms were clean and the property is close to restaurants and other shops. You have to try their meals at Sebule restaurant they are amazing

Nothing not to love

I just completed a 15-day trip through six African countries and stayed at numerous hotels along the way. African Pride Melrose Arch was, without question, the best hotel of the trip—and honestly one of the best hotels I can remember staying at in quite some time. The property itself is beautiful, our room was amazing, breakfast was genuinely next-level, and dinner was excellent as well. But what truly made the stay stand out was the service. Every interaction felt warm, polished, and genuinely attentive. It seems clear that this is either a reflection of outstanding training or an exceptional hotel culture—probably both. A few team members deserve special recognition: Prince, the bellhop, was welcoming and helpful from the start. Prince, our dinner server—a different Prince—provided fantastic service during dinner. Lizwi—I hope I have the spelling right—made breakfast especially enjoyable. Nathaniel, another bellhop, was equally friendly and attentive. And most of all, Zinny at the front desk was simply outstanding. She was next-level: warm, capable, thoughtful, and memorable in a way that genuinely elevated the entire stay. I would gladly return to this hotel even if Zinny were the only staff member I interacted with. It is rare for a hotel to get every part of the experience right: the room, the food, the setting, and—most importantly—the people. African Pride Melrose Arch did exactly that. I would recommend it without hesitation and look forward to returning.

Completely Professional, the best service and wonderful staff

What a fabulous hotel. It is my favorite place to stay! The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful and they really go above and beyond the call of duty. It really feels like a home away from home. The rooms rooms are extremely comfortable. It is immaculately clean and so quiet. I always have a great nights sleep!

I came to Johannesburg on August 18th for my birthday. I stayed at this beautiful hotel. It's location could not have been more perfect for me since I was a solo traveler. There are a lot of restaurants and shops near the hotel so food is definitely not a problem. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with it's boutique style. The rooms were very spacious and clean. There are also two restaurants inside the hotel. The Auduna restaurant was my favorite. The staff recognized me as a regular. The amazing staff were very professional. They made you feel right at home. They were able to answer any questions that you had about what to see. Dingaan and Nathaniel along with so many others were very accommodating. Dingaan arranged a special birthday treat for me in my room. The waiter, Marsello, at Aduna was always so very generous along with all the other staff. Whenever I return back to Johannesburg I will definitely be staying here.

This hotel didn’t only go through a revamp of asset ! But equally in service culture ! One of the best hotels to stay at in JHB! They look after elite members with lots of care !

Had a beautiful stay in a suite and breakfast was amazing and had a range of different options. Check in was great and the atmosphere at the reception was warm and welcoming.

From check in everything started smooth and professional and the room was outstanding housekeeping did and amazing job the gesture of the sparkling wine was thoughtful and also the hotel porter was amazing and atlegang did an amazing job checking us out overall the whole team was fantastic

African Pride in Melrose Arch, South Africa has been the most magnificent hotel stay. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond any and all expectations! It is a must stay hotel!!!

The location is amazing, situated in Melrose Arch, a very safe suburb of Johannesburg. The hotel staff made our stay. They went out of their way to help us and were so much fun to deal with during our stay. The rooms were very modern, well appointed and clean. The food was delicious, with two restaurants to choose from. I would highly recommend this hotel!

A little more space on the one side of the bed would be good for a two person stay. Some aspects of the rooms and bathrooms could be upgraded.

The hotel is located is a very safe upmarket area with plenty of cafes and restaurants. The hotel has very modern facilities. The staff from the Doorman who greeted us to the reception staff and restaurant staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The breakfast at the restaurant was excellent too. Fantastic experience at the hotel. In retrospect not an ideal family hotel by the facilities- but the food and the spectacular service made up for it. Consistently great and friendly staff. Minor niggles - constant problems with second room key (something to do with my wife not using my name 🙄) - there is no proper lounge area, so if you eat outside the hotel and want come back for a nightcap you are in a corner of the restaurant - small outdoor pool not ideal for winter - but that’s common in the area.

We started our safari adventure here to adjust to time change. Amazing, professional staff! Rooms were spacious and clean, breakfast choices were numerous and recommendations for dining and shopping were spot on. They introduced us to "Woolies" when our luggage was delayed which we greatly appreciated.

I really liked the overall stay. I had a spacious room a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. It was very quiet, too which I appreciate. The staff overall was very welcoming and nice.

There were a few small things. When I took out the iron to iron my white shirt for the day, the iron left a grey stain on my shirt. I took a towel to clean it and after, the towel had a big dark stain. I informed the reception who said they would check the iron. (I cleaned it already though. I was not asked for my shirt to be cleaned). On my day of departure I asked for a possible late check out. I misunderstood the time and when I went back to the reception because I couldn't enter my room, I was a little surprised by the rudeness after I apoligized for the misunderstanding. My colleague was surprised as well.

Good breakfast, very helpful staff on reception

The very annoying and brusque room service staff knocked on my door every night asking if I needed anything. In my opinion, this approach violates the peace of the residents and does not correspond to the level of the 5* hotel.

Great hotel and location, food is amazing

Didn’t know what to expect as I’ve never been to Joburg. This hotel beat our expectations - excellent staff, comfortable (big and well-appointed rooms), safe, easy access for sightseeing and good food at the restaurants. If you’re in Joburg, this is the place to stay!

What a perfect location for our 2 day tour of Johannesburg. Knowing it was an anniversary celebration trip, we were greeted with a beautifully decorated bed with rose pedals. The staff is exemplary - friendly, funny, helpful. So glad our travels brought us here.

Very good! Excellent customer service and a shout out to Sheppard, at check-in. Staying there our first two nights of a long trip was a great start to our holiday. We had dinner at the fine dining restaurant and it was also exceptional, I especially loved the oysters!

This was one of the best properties I've ever visited in all my years of world travel. Unathi checked me in and was a complete delight. Pete at the bar was wonderful as well. Every team member encountered was lovely and engaging. While i do not often repeat or backtrack, I would definitely visit again. Bravo!

Dingaan welcome, bless with his friendly, beautiful smile as we walked in and made sure that I are entire time. Here was a joy. If I could give 10 stars I would. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. I always felt like I was walking back into my home when we came from being out and about. Speaking of that, the location here is wonderful as it is a very safe and clean area where you can go to shopping and restaurants galore! I highly recommend staying here if you’re going to be in the area!

Being a lifetime Platinum member we have stayed at many Marriott properties over the years. The customer service at this Africa Pride hotel was the friendliest, most helpful and accommodating staff of almost any Marriott we have stayed. The safety and security within Melrose Arch is also a bonus and the included breakfast was also top notch.

If people make the place then this place has it made! The hotel itself is wonderful, but the staff are the best of the experience: friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable! Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Excellent, variety food served. I wanted a poached egg white which they could not make unfortunately. Overall, I was given what I requested. The chef should be taught how to make the specific egg.

The gowns are not matching the standard of the hotel. They are supposed to be soft and fluffy but they are hard.

This hotel was lovely and the service was extraordinary. I am celebrating a birthday and they decorated my room and left me a nice gift which was unexpected. The restaurant was also delicious. I definitely recommend staying here for a memorable travel experience.

The hotel was extremely comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was exceptional, bad for the waistline though! What made this hotel exceptional was its staff, without exception from serving staff, reception, cleaners or doormen they were delightful and went over and above what one would expect. The welcome was so warm it gave the hotel a charm of its own, and stopped it being just another smart but soul less hotel. Would definitely return.

The stay at the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel was a wonderful experience. Starting with a warm welcome of the friendly staff, the beautifully decorated room was another highlight, and the very good breakfast buffet and menu were excellent as well. I would love to come back here again and can only recommend this place.
