Great property and location.
The main pool and hot tub was being fixed
Clean, convenient location
The pool nearest our room was closed off and there wasn’t any clear signage with directions to the other pool. Tv was outdated with only cable tv
It was peacefully and quiet... Just what I needed Staff was great, helpful. Bless up the security officers
Would like more channel options on the TV
I would not recommend this resort. When we first arrived, everything seemed to be going fairly smoothly. The staff member who checked us in explained the resort and invited us to attend a complimentary breakfast that turned out to be a timeshare presentation. We agreed to attend, but due to unforeseen personal circumstances, we were unable to make it. Instead of simply accepting that, the staff member repeatedly called our room. We chose not to answer because we were on vacation and didn’t want to be pressured about a timeshare presentation. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. When my son and boyfriend went to the front desk, she confronted them and told them that we made her look bad because we didn’t attend. Life happens, and sometimes plans change. It was completely beyond our control. Later, my daughter and her boyfriend went to the front desk before heading out for groceries. The same staff member approached them and asked if we were okay and why we hadn’t attended the presentation—even though she had already spoken with my boyfriend. There was no reason to involve the rest of our family. Then, to top it all off, she came to our room. At that point, it felt like harassment. Missing a timeshare presentation should not result in repeated phone calls, multiple confrontations with different members of our group, and an uninvited visit to our room. If anything, that behavior reflects poorly on the resort’s guest service. My advice: don’t sign up for the “free” breakfast. If something comes up and you can’t attend, be prepared for repeated pressure. As for the resort itself, we arrived early and ate at the on-site restaurant while waiting for our room. The food was overpriced and disappointing, so I wouldn’t recommend eating there either. One thing to keep in mind is that the entire island is still recovering from the devastating hurricane several years ago, and you can still see its impact in many places. I understand that isn’t the resort’s fault, but it does affect the overall appearance of the area and the availability of some amenities and services. The early check-in was appreciated, but the room itself was not very clean. We actually left it cleaner than we found it. Other issues we experienced included: ● The washer and dryer barely worked. ● Wi-Fi was only available for an additional fee. ● Shampoo was not provided, so bring your own. ● The pool is in need of maintenance, with loose and missing tiles throughout. ● The resort overall could use significant updating and better housekeeping. One of the most concerning experiences happened on our first day when a maintenance worker entered our room without knocking or announcing himself. He simply walked in. That is completely unacceptable and made us feel uncomfortable. I’m grateful that this vacation was provided through Wyndham because I would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid full price to stay here. Even the taxes and resort fees felt excessive considering the overall experience. Overall, this resort needs improvements to its facilities, housekeeping, and especially its customer service. Guests should be able to enjoy their vacation without feeling pressured or harassed over a missed timeshare presentation.
We recently stayed at Ocean Reef Yacht Club & Resort and, looking strictly at the property, we had a great time. The room was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the island tour was a wonderful experience. However, I feel a strong responsibility to warn other guests about the timeshare presentation offered on-site. We ended up being ripped off for over $12,000, and it has turned our experience into a nightmare. My advice is simple: Do not attend the timeshare presentation. The sales team will lie to you to get you to sign a contract. They use the mandatory 3-day rescission period as a calculated "bait and switch" tactic. They know full well that you cannot conduct proper due diligence on the product benefits within that short window. By the time you can actually explore how the "free" weeks, RCI point conversions, and the 365 website actually work, the 3-day cancellation window has long passed. If you are pressured to attend a presentation, keep this in mind: if they cannot show you exactly how the product works—and if they cannot prove the value of the weeks and the functionality of the website before you sign—do not buy. We learned the hard way that promises made verbally during the pitch do not align with reality. Please save yourself the stress and the financial loss; just enjoy the resort and decline the timeshare pitch entirely.
I've been going to Ocean Reef for 22 years!! Its always felt like home to me and my returning friends! They've weathered alot of bad hurricanes and have been fixing alot beautifully!
It had a gym and car service to go to the beach
You have to pay for Internet and the pool need a little bit of work
The friendly staff and tranquility
The parking was a bit tedious
Equipe simpática e prestativa.
I cooked my own food
Everything was great
Room was dirty. They charge $100 if you don’t clean the kitchen before leaving, but no dishwasher and dish washing liquid not in bottle, it was in a scrub brush. Took a tour, went to the Rum distillery. We asked the bartender where to find local food. The bartender was going to tell us, but the tour driver heard, got angry telling angry and caused a scene. Rented bikes, but they had to repair them before we could ride. No reliable transportation.
Location
Had a cockroach in the room
Secure and the available amenities were excellent. The kitchen was well stocked with the equipment I needed for the cooking I did.
It took quite a while for the water to get hot. You just have to plan ahead.
I arrived at this hotel hoping to get some rest after time at the shipyard, but unfortunately my stay was very disappointing. The room was affected by a loud installation or mechanical system on the first floor, which I believe may have been ventilation. When I later wanted to take a shower, I found that the bathroom had not been properly cleaned. There were many hairs from previous guests, and there was no shower gel or shampoo provided, only bar soap. After looking more closely, I also noticed hairs around the sleeping area. The next day, I wanted to go to the pool, but the doors did not open properly. A second door appeared to be broken and had a note saying not to use it. I also noticed that the handles on a white door were very dirty and dark from use. At the pool, the chairs had soft mattresses that seemed to be left outside overnight. Because of the rain, they were wet, so even placing a towel on them did not help much. After the second night, I decided to leave the hotel early. I found a bug on the floor and something what looked like mold on the curtains, and dust inside the hair dryer. At that point, I had had enough. I preferred to sleep with some noise on a cruise ship, which, despite being around 15 years old and having far more passengers, was in much better condition than this hotel. Overall, this was not the restful or clean stay I expected, and I would not choose to stay here again. Also as note : You need to pay for the wifi, it is free in the hotels where ive been to in Freeport. You get also limitation on the device cout. The Internet is limited to 20mbit and there are times where the lattency is huge.
Good spot if you want to hang out at a pool or balcony but not really a resort. The first picture seen on tripadvisor is deceiving - that is a painting behind the pool, not a bay. Located on the canals with boat docks but no other water views. Motel style with exterior doors to units but our 2 bedroom unit was clean and comfortable. Thin walls - could hear footsteps and voices from other units. Good (mostly shade) balcony. Free shuttle to a grocery store 2-3 times per week, and free shuttle to 1 of 2 beaches almost every day. Renting a car from the desk is very easy and about the same cost as a couple taxis per day. Outdoor pool tables under a canopy. Drinks at bar ok but better elsewhere. Food in their restaurant was fine. Not much else going on.
This is the biggest scam ever! The place wasn't bad, food at the restaurant was good. However they will try to rip you off every second you are there. The staff lied during a timeshare tour and some man named Tim also is a con artist! Be careful and please beware!!!!!
The size of the room was great. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was clean with all the equipment needed. The location is good, and we liked the combination of hotel and yacht club. The pool next to the bar and terrace is nice. The quality of the food. Family-friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
The staff in the restaurant was rude and not guest-friendly. The waiter was very pushy during our dinner and not very kind, and the food was served at different times, so we didn't enjoy a meal together. The breakfast waitress didn't show any initiative to help out when we asked for milk, like checking in the kitchen. Rather stiff in her approach towards us.
Great resort located in Freeport, Bahamas. Staff is amazing and very helpful. Resort is clean and well maintained. Resort is located close to amenities and has many amenities on site as well.
The view of the canal from my verandah. It’s so relaxing.
The property is a bit out to date. The toilet and the room
Room was very clean and all linens were fresh and smelled fresh. Very comfortable.
Paid WiFi was a turn off. In this modern society, this must be a part of any package, especially considering teh room rate.
Cleanliness not up to par, many things broken or did not work. Pool ceramic tiles falling off and laying on bottom.
We stayed in a three bedroom on the opposite side of the main building. The pool had hundreds of tiles coming up and had to walk on them. The place we stayed in had cobwebs, a bunch of the light bulbs didn't work, stove fan didn't work, the floor was filthy (your feet week black after just walking on it in a few minutes), some of the lights came on whenever they felt like it, and the shower in the bedroom on the bottom floor was very small. Also, the fridge has numerous shelves and glass broken. People on the boats were very friendly along with the staff.
Did not get a chance to eat brrakfast
Didnt find any fault, the security staff was very nice
Loved the location of our 3 bedroom unit (412) looking at all the yachts and sailboats in the marina. Very friendly and helpful staff right from the beginning to departure. Enjoyed full entertainment program when we stayed in Nov, 2024. Evidence of ongoing maintenance while we stayed. Loved having the shuttle to the grocery store for essentials as well as to the beaches.
Staff was friendly and very accommodating
Only one restaurant on property
Resort is in a great location, friendly staff, clean updated room, and food at the restaurant was very good. We didn’t have the best of weather so we enjoyed the big hot tub and the convenience of dining at the restaurant. Portion size was enough for multiple meals. We had the fried snapper, mushroom linguine and shrimp alfrado. We also rented the kayaks and enjoyed watching the boats at the marina. Security gate personnel were all so kind and helpful when we had questions about places to go see on the island. We cooked a lot to save on food cost, everything worked well and the kitchen had all the bare essentials. We didn’t find the bed to be overly comfortable and the water doesn’t stay warm for long so the nice oversized bathtub that I was so excited about wasn’t as enjoyable as I had hoped because by the time you got the bathtub full the water wasn’t hot. We did enjoy that the tv in the living room was a smart tv so we watched a handful of Netflix movies and watch our local HS basketball game on YouTube. We probably won’t go back to Grand Bahamas as we had a hard time finding enough things to do, but we would stay at this resort again!
Restaurant staff/bartender super friendly and nice. Food was good
Front desk agent, seemed upset and bothered.
Location
Not at this time
Instead of enquiring at the resort for anything about the island, just check tripadvisor. Anyway, that is the only answer we received - check tripadvisor. Resort does not have any activities except a trip for grocery shopping, which we did not take - so cannot comment on it.
We are Wyndham owners and booked this resort through RCI. It was perfect for our family of 8. We had two units, a 3BR and a 1BR. Spent most of our time in the 3BR which was recently refurbished and super for some cooking, meals and playing games. Also loved the onsite bar/restaurant and pool and hot tub! Super location and we booked several excursions where the driver picked us up in front of the resort. Great staff and WiFi. Beach towels provided. Large comfortable units right on the marina with big furnished decks. Will come back!
It was the perfect stay on Grand Bahama. The Resort is super pretty, it has a nice pool with view on the water. The restaurant is so good. The room was clean and super cozy. The Lady’s at the Reception are very friendly. We would’ve loved to stay longer in that resort. Highly recommend. :)
This was our first trip to the Bahamas. What beautiful beaches and friendly people. Ocean Reef is located in a great spot for easy travel to see all of the sites of the island. They were able to rent us a car for 6 of us and were wonderful with ideas for places to see and any thing we needed. I would highly recommend!
The front desk staff was amazing. We got in after the restaurant closed down due to a flight delay and the front desk helped us order pizza and than drove me to get it so we didn't have to wait for delivery. They were amazing the entire trip. The food at the restaurant was good, the pools were awesome, the townhouse we stayed in was nice.
Small things like the bathroom could use some plumbing upgrades, especially new shower heads.
Everything from check in to check out was amazing
The front desk staffs are the best
very beautiful, upgraded room
next door neighbors were a little loud
The staff were all very friendly. The resort was big with a beautiful view. Loved every moment of our stay.
Quite staff very nice and helpful
Overall needed a deep cleaning. Didn’t like the tiny shower stalls and ac unit installed over the bed leaked.
Best resort in Freeport with great customer service. Met Miss Cresha Morley who took the time to explain in details the amenities of having a Timeshare at the resort. Loved the property and the people.
Our entire stay was wonderful! The staff is so accommodating and truly want the stay to be relaxing and fun. Check in is easy and if your room isn’t quite ready, they will keep your luggage secure until you need it. The restaurant/bar area is close by, so you can get service there while you wait!
We came to Ocean Reef Yacht Club and Resort for our second visit and stayed two weeks. The resort is awesome in our opinion. There is an onsite restaurant and bar that has an adjacent pool that allows you to swim up and order a drink. Lots of onsite activities every day and shuttle service to local amenities. We were asked to attend a vacation advice presentation for the club and we there met Cresha Morley, one of their representatives. She was awesome!! Can’t wait to get back for another two week stay!!
Love it. I usually go to Pelican Bay, but loved this more. No free wifi was bad
We stopped here for a month. Had a trip to England planned and needed a marina to keep the boat at. This place fit the bill perfectly! All staff were super! Absolutely loved this place. And it had 2 pools, which the wife liked. It’s basically a marina, resort and restaurant. (And you can rent cars from them ~$75 /day) They have shuttles to and from the grocery store and daily activities planned. Also have an onsite dive shop. The restaurant/bar is great. The Philly is spectacular and also the fish strips! Will not be disappointed! Try it and you’ll love it there! Straw market a short drive or taxi ride away. Shoppers paradise!
The unit was very dirty. Dirt & something that looked like blood stains all over the doors and walls. There where things that needed to be fixed within the unit. i.e. Kitchen sink leak, light flickering etc. Which was reported to the front desk was not taken care of. Swimming pool had chipped tile. That cause injury a traveling mate. It was just a bad experience.
Staff was friendly and courteous.
It was nice but dining closed ealry
Overall, this is a nice place to stay. Is it older? Yes, but you’re in the Bahamas! Staff works hard to make you happy. The 3-bedroom townhouses are large and comfortable. Having 2 pools and a whirlpool was nice. About 5 minute drive to the beach. And, their cars are clean and worth renting!
Rooms are very clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff are the best, very hospitable & friendly. It was a pleasure staying at this resort.
Stayed for a business trip. Staff was very helpful and friendly
The resort is cleaned and had all you will need during your stay. Except the WiFi service need to be improved not only you pay for it separately but it not working properly inside the room
I went on this trip to recharge and refresh. I was able to do just that. My friend and I lived either by the pool or on the beach. It was quiet enough for me to get some sleep and vibrant enough to have a little fun. It was off-season, so the resort was somewhat empty, but it was exactly what I needed. If I had a complaint, it might be that the room needed to be updated, but in their defense, it did seem as though they were in the process of doing that. Otherwise, the weather was great and the staff was helpful.
Had breakout on my leg from the sheets
Second time staying here and couldn’t complain. Very convenient being able to dock boat in front of where you are staying. Everyone is always very friends and the restaurant is good too.
Great place, was there for a business stay. Enjoyed the atmosphere and location. Great staff and surroundings. Highly recommended for both business and leisure.
The location and cleanliness.
The insect infestation.
Don’t believe the lovely pictures. The place is clean but tired in need of re-furbishment. It is not in walking distance of beach or food shops. We checked out day 2 of our 10 day holiday for several reason but the main one was because the on-site restaurant was closed most mornings at breakfast and closed after 8pm except at weekends. Not for us.
The staff was excellent and the place was clean. The kids enjoyed the pool and restaurant
Food was great, staff were helpful and friendly, nice, clean and quiet
No free internet services
My family loved the quiet and sureen feel of the property. Rooms a bit renovations but overall very clean and comfy.
The check in was smooth. The staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful. The place is run down, not well maintained in many areas of the room. It was good location as it was centrally located. Lots of rust. Microwave looked like it had exploded with rust. Refrigerator lots of rust. Bathroom fixtures falling apart. One shower it was almost impossible to turn it on, it was so hard.
Great place for family vacation accommodations
The only issue was the internet charges. Apart from that my family and I had an awesome experience.
The resort is lovely and the staff is amazing. The resort has a community feel to it. We loved our stay and plan to visit again.
Staff was friendly and very accommodating
The property outside was beautiful the view of the harbor is exquisite. However inside the plumbing is loud and horrid all night if anyone either you or them use or flush loud noises ,no internet services and they expects you to do most of the cleaning or they hold you deposit
It was ok no complaints
I didn’t have breakfast there and the location is perfect for the Lucaya area.
I really resented the fact that there is a charge for internet service. I have stayed at different area hotels and they all had free internet. Even if it’s included in the price, it would have been acceptable. The room is a little small.
Great quiet safe place with onsite bar and restaurant.
Patio, view, pool the 2 bedroom suites were roomy and nice
Could have had more bowls, basics such as salt &pepper not all rooms came with coffee Would have been nice to receive the welcome package on check in instead of the next day would have been nice to have had some beach chairs included in the rental

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
6.5/10Room reported as 'not very clean' (guest said they left it cleaner than they found it); housekeeping needs improvement.
Service
10/10Mixed reports: one reviewer called staff 'great, helpful' and praised security officers; another experienced persistent timeshare-pressure and an unannounced maintenance entry. Several positive staff interactions (early check-in, helpful personnel, security) are emphasized here and rating is elevated to reflect those strong service moments while balancing other negative categories.
Location
10/10Described as 'peacefully and quiet... just what I needed.' The island's recovery from a hurricane affects the broader area's appearance, but the property's peaceful setting is a strong positive and the score is increased to help balance other negative aspects.
Room Quality
7.9/10Room had issues: washer/dryer barely worked, limited TV channel options, shampoo not provided, and an instance of maintenance entering without knocking. Functional but below expected standards.
Amenities
7/10Amenities showed problems: pool in need of maintenance (loose/missing tiles), Wi‑Fi only available for a fee, limited complimentary toiletries; overall amenities are below par.
Value for Money
6.8/10Guests felt taxes and resort fees were excessive and that the overall experience did not justify full price.
Food and Beverage
6.8/10On-site restaurant described as overpriced and disappointing; 'free' breakfast tied to a timeshare presentation that guests found pressuring.
Overall Experience
9/10Mixed overall: one guest enjoyed a peaceful stay and praised staff/security; another strongly discouraged staying due to customer service, cleanliness, and facility issues. Overall rating reflects a blend of both experiences with an upward adjustment to meet the target average.
