Did not like the fact we didn’t see any staff at all the time we were there it felt very impersonal its not for me a self serving b&b,

The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast very good with all I needed

The location was excellent for what we needed. My sister was getting married at the Trinity church (4 doors down) and her reception was across the road at the Storyteller. The room was ok and did what we needed it for. Self check-in and breakfast were as described and we received plenty of information to make our arrival so much easier. I paid for 2 days in the parking zones, fine on the Friday, but couldn't locate one on Saturday at all. Ended up paying an extra £10 to stay in the car park opposite. The member of staff in the morning was helpful and assisted my husband, who is partially sighted, locate, set up and use the iron and ironing board - whilst I was performing Matron of Honour duties!

Wouldn't pay for zone parking again and breakfast was a little lacklustre. But, there are plenty of eateries close by to get a cooked breakfast.

Comfortable bed though very creaky, Fairly near to town centre.

Manque de choix au petit déjeuner. Pain, cereales, une confiture et un pot de Nutella vide. Le personnel qui n'est pas sur place pourrait penser à vérifier que tout est opérationnel.

Convenient, clean , comfortable

I think you do yourselves a disservice by marketing Portland as luxurious. Hospitality tray not replenished, poor towels, incredibly basic DIY breakfast cannot be described as luxurious.

It is ideally situated for the car park and the town itself.

Be very careful with the taps. In our room (25) the hot water was extremely hot as soon as you switched it on and the cold tap was never cold.

Great communication, spotlessly clean, central location, quality fittings and laundry. Loads of plugs, just where you need them.

Location was fine, shower was good.

Unfortunately when we arrived the sheets were not clean, we messaged the staff and as nobody was on property they directed us to where the clean sheets were so we could change them ourselves. Very early the next morning another room's shower set of the fire alarm so all guests evacuated. None were able to contact any staff so after 30mins outside on the pavement in our pyjamas we had to silence the alarm and go back to our rooms to get dressed and leave. Overall it was a disappointing stay.

The location was very central and close to both parking and the Cheltenham centre. The facilities in the room were very clean, with a good self-serve selection for breakfast in addition. I appreciated the availability of tea's and coffees as well as fridge-cold water due to the warm weather. The owner as well was very responsive to messaging, which was also appreciated.

We noticed that the shower didn't seem to close all of the way, in our room, but the owner was very responsive and this didn't affect our stay. It should also be noted that the rooms got very warm, however fans were provided and the we had access to opened windows to assist this.

Self check in was quick and easy. Facilities were nice. The room was clean and tidy.

Prior to arrival we received a lot of information about our stay, very friendly hosts. The building was lovely and our room was very clean and tidy.

Was not happy with the breakfast. No yoghurt, no bananas, average bread. The place itself was nice. Room was clean. No sign on the property, door colour was different from the picture.

Room was clean and tidy. It was convenient for the town. Big car parking opposite, which you have to pay for, but we didn’t use it.

The room was right at the top of the house up two flights of steps. We do prefer places where the owner is present, which was not the case here. Just felt impersonal.

Great location for the restaurants and bars, rooms were spacious and clean, self service breakfast with tea, coffee, juices,cereals and breads was plentiful, pay car park opposite was guest house was handy, would definitely stay again next time in the area.

The room was clean and comfy and had everything we needed. The breakfast was good too. The staff responded to messages very helpfully and promptly.

Some people might think some of the bedroom furniture is shabby but it didn't bother us.

The room was a good size. The bed was comfy. We had a downstairs room & it was quite cool. There were 2 windows so quite light. It’s a great location. We booked a car park permit and found a space within 5 minutes walk away. Although there is a car park opposite which is only £10 for 24 hours. The self service entry worked well. All the info was on a what’s app message. The breakfast was self service & had vegan and gluten free options. There was oat milk. The continental style breakfast makes it good value. There are plenty of places nearby if you want a full cooked breakfast.

Though parking was included with our booking,, I believe it will not be the case for future bookings. You need to be mindful of this for any future bookings. Secure parking is typically an issue in the UK..

Attention to detail…… umbrellas left in the hall for guests to use. The breakfast room - whilst unmanned- has every detail covered.

Great location. It was like being in an historic building with great character. The manager was great and helpful.

No staff on site after 2pm. It is more like an upgraded hostel setting. No frills but quaint and comfortable. The building is in the process of being repaired and updated which will make it even nicer. The free parking that the hotel can provide was never available as it is on street parking which was never available. There is a paid parking lot directly across the street which is the best option.

The gluten free bread was inedible bread, the youngest had all gone, as were the crumpets, croissants would have been nice . But on the whole just about adequate.😊

Bathroom door did not shut. Breakfast was very basic . It was a DIY breakfast with just cereal and toast. Would have been nice to have individual pots of jam and marmalade not a large jar.

Het personeel was erg vriendelijk en erg bereikbaar via WhatsApp. Er was wat onzekerheid met de bagagetransfer, maar uiteindelijk verliep alles vlot en stond de bagage op ons te wachten in de kamer.

De kamer was op zich in orde. De badkamer was erg schoon. Mijn partner en ik zijn alleen slechte slapers en werden 's nachts wel eens wakker van het gepiep van het metalen bed. Voor wie goed doorslaapt is dit waarschijnlijk geen probleem.

I thought the cleaning was poor in the whole of the building, hair in shower etc. and the hall was in need of a good clean. Breakfast was unimaginative and was a do it yourself job. Toast and museli but no yogurt. However, they did cater for gluten free bread and cereal. Mattress needed throwing out and replacing, springs were actually sticking into my body. Overall the building did not feel clean or cared for.

It was clean, tidy and well-organised. I was very impressed by the messages prior to our stay - polite and responsive. The parking arrangement and the access to the property were efficient.

The workmen were working on our window frame and were chatting loudly to each other while being able to see into our room.

Good location. Central. Also near Park. Surprisingly quiet at night. (My room was at back) When I did meet Gabriella she was lovely.

Was unprepared for self check in and hostel style self service cereals and toast. Also the ongoing works and scaffolding. But these things have to be done. Not a luxury stay. But it was all I needed and the bathroom was good. I had booked really long in advance so things have changed since then I think. However it meant I got a good price. So in the balance I was happy. Lots of awkward stairs. But again that’s the nature of the building.

The room seemed a bit shabby compared with photos but obviously having work done outside tape around windows and woodwork The fact that you don’t have a personal welcome as it seemed quite a nice inviting guest house from the photos shown and also shows cooked breakfast with nice tablecloths and tables set nicely and I personally think it’s a shame to change it from that I just felt for me personally changing it to self service guest house just lacked the nice welcome feel instead it felt unwelcoming and cold which is a shame but I think that’s a personal choice and it would suit people who like that I think the breakfast could be a bit more inviting set out on a higher table and could of had a bit more selection maybe pastry’s / yoghurts / better fruit selection not everyone likes bananas for me that was a bit of a let down … I’d say it’s a very basic selection and could be better

Felt like home from home. The lovely bits of older furniture made it feel homely. The help yourself breakfast was great, very relaxed.

Staff is terrific. Property under renovation so lots of scaffolding and trades men,.. should be great by May 2026. This is a social enterprise schem, I believe, so support it as much as possible....good vibes...nice communal areas to hang out :)

The bed had very noisy springs - not for a honeymoon! Continental breakfast a bit limited - good quality crumpets and bread, but not yoghurts, cheese fruit (apart from banana)

The room was pleasant enough. The self check in was straight forward enough too although it did feel a tad impersonal. It was ok as it was just for the one night stay that we were staying at the property.

Sadly this property is let down by the lack of close by street parking. We did have a permit during our stay but with luggage to carry and a pet and a pram we both found this rather difficult especially as there was nowhere close by available to park. Then with a flight of stairs to navigate into the property and then downstairs another flight to our room was quite stressful to say the least. The car park opposite we noted would incur an additional £10 for an overnight stay ☹️ Disappointing breakfast options. Sour milk in the fridge and the mouth of the milk jug was unclean! Unable to even open the marmite Jar that had previously been opened and sadly the lady in the kitchen I saw earlier re the milk issue was nowhere to be found to assist. The basement room was very hot. Portable Air con unit was plugged in for the duration of our overnight stay.

Could do with a really good hoover, but thats a very small thing, i'd still recommend to anyone staying in Cheltham.

The accommodation was clean, I appreciated being able to have the heating on. The communication with the hosts was easy and clear check-in instructions were communicated in advance. Convenient location, with easy access to nearby bus stops and short distance to the shops and the high street. The breakfast room was really gorgeous.

Poor breakfast options and setup. The selection was very limited and almost entirely sweet, however only salted butter was provided, which did not pair well with the sweet condiments. Overall though, I would have appreciated more savoury options such as cheese, ham and vegetables (e.g. avocados). Guests were expected to refill items if they ran out, as well as clean and wipe down tables after use and return their dishes. This was not communicated in advance. It would have been helpful if this information, along with details of the breakfast menu had been included in the description. Overall, the price point felt too high for what was effectively a hostel-style setup breakfast. The room I was given was in the basement with small beds and a poorly insulated window. I could feel a draft and hear outside noises even with the window fully closed. Lacked a sense of privacy and safety as the room was by the main road and people walking by could potentially see inside, if my roller blind was up. Poor soundproofing overall, I could hear from other rooms and the floor above.

Perfect location, staff friendly, parking permits sorted for our stay. Private bathroom was lovely and smart, the bedroom pleasant and beds comfortable enough.

Carpets were worn and stained so made it look a little grubby.

The location is great, within ten minutes walk of the town centre and very close to a bus stop, and my freshly decorated bedroom and bathroom were very attractive. Check-in with the new self-check-in system was very easy.

The management is new and arrangements for breakfast are still being trialled, so it was a bit chaotic and guests were getting in each other's way trying to work out where everything was. Presentation could be improved. There were lots of old plastic flowers on the window balconies and in the hall, which didn't suit this stylish Georgian house.

The continental breakfast was included in the price, room spacious and all you needed.

The bed was too soft for me but that is down to individual preference.

The guesthouse is located just a few minutes walk from the centre. My room was small although lovely and clean, very tastefully decorated and had a selection of tea and coffee and also toiletries - nice thoughtful touches.

There is building work taking place on the actual property- renovation of the attic I believe, which they fail to tell you until they send you the self check in details on the morning of your arrival. I was in room 7 - which should definitely not be used during this time. The scaffolding is against the wall of this room and just before 8am on Saturday morning I was woken by two workmen at each of my windows, drilling, hammering and shouting. The noise level was horrendous not to mention the total lack of privacy. I'm not sure if in other rooms it was this bad, but this work I was told, will be continuing for the next six weeks. I also read the questions and answers relating to the guest house before booking, which included leaving luggage before and after arrival. However, since they have now moved to self check in, this service is no longer available - they really should consider updating this information. Although they did eventually respond to my request about the luggage saying they would try to accommodate me, it was after I had arrived and had since made alternative arrangements. If I had known all of the above before booking (and paying) I would not have stayed here.

A beautiful room and incredibly kind staff. Let me drop off a bag before check in and moved it down to my room so it was there when I arrived in the evening. Easy, contactless check in. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well, so didn't get to try the breakfast, but the owner/manager noticed I hadn't come to breakfast and came to check if I wanted anything. Really appreciated the kindness.
