Property looks lovely from outside, internally it is very tired and in need of refurb, it’s a diamond in the rough. Spoke to a few local people who know the place and worked here over 30 years ago and told us it’s never been touched since they were there!
Great location, stunning view from the room, room was really nice and staff were so friendly and helpful
No complaints
The outside of the hotel looks nice.
The room smelled. There was a background smell of mustiness and age, partly masked by bleach and cleaning products, but still very noticeable underneath. It wasn’t pleasant. The furniture looked as though it had been bought from a clearance-house auction for £1. Nothing matched, there was no real sense of décor or style, and for £130 for one night we expected considerably more. Most frustratingly, the room looked nothing like the photographs we had seen online. The difference was so stark that we genuinely felt misled. The whole place felt like a time capsule from the late 1980s or early 1990s. I half expected Jeremy Beadle to spring out of the wardrobe and tell us we’d been set up. We couldn’t find anyone in a position of authority. The lady on reception was pleasant, but unfortunately wasn’t able to resolve our concerns. Other staff tried to help, but nobody seemed to have the authority to actually deal with the problem. We even waited in the bar hoping a manager might appear. Nobody did. The bar prices were ridiculous too. £17 for a pint of draught beer and a gin with soda. For a moment I thought I’d somehow ended up in Dubai. Breakfast was another low point. I’ll simply say that cracking open one of the boiled eggs from the continental buffet is an experience I’d rather forget. We genuinely tried to make the best of the stay because Chipping Norton itself is lovely, but this hotel is not representative of what the town has to offer. The one positive was that the sheets and bedding were clean. My recommendation: stay somewhere else. Even the Premier Inn around the corner would be a better option, and I genuinely can’t believe I’m having to say that.
Good location
Parking difficult
It was very clean in our room and around the hotel .
Our bathroom smelt very musty . It was clean but no air could get into it as no windows apart from in the main bedroom. The WiFi was not good . Could only watch itv which still kept losing connection. The breakfast on offer wasn’t good . Would have loved a proper cooked breakfast, considering the price of staying there you’d think breakfast would be included. But £9.00 for a bowl of cereal selection of bread , cakes and fruit was not worth it .
Everything was great !
Nothing!
Great location staff were very friendly and the room was very clean

Excellent
Nice and clean room but dated needs updating

It was very quaint. The staff ad Linda were top notch.
The beds are to hard. Didn’t like the three flights of stairs. A lot for someone pushing 70
We loved the character of the building and the location was great-close to amenities and good restaurants. The breakfast was plentiful too and worth the money. Staff friendly but quite “chilled”. The room we eventually got was quite nice but could have been cleaner.
We arrived for our anniversary weekend having booked for Friday and Saturday stay via booking.com. The hotel then told us that we were down on their system for Sat and Sun. We don’t know whose problem this was but we knew it wasn’t ours. After a 15mn wait, we were told we could have another more basic room and then be transferred to the double with 4 poster the next day. Our first night would be reimbursed. This wasn’t a great start but we saw that the staff were doing all they could to rectify the situation. The main issue was that the next morning, we had to vacate our( very basic) room at 11 and then return at 4 to check in again to the other room. This meant that we HAD to stay out of the hotel. It didn’t give us an option of just chilling in our room. Also ,the website had mentioned a pool so we had brought costumes only to find it had closed down.
+ Room was available 30 minutes before the standard check-in time + Excellent location, central + Great FREE parking at the back of the hotel + Pretty flowers and hanging baskets in the back courtyard areas
For £128 a night without breakfast, we would have expected some basics in the room - no rubbish bin in the bathroom - filthy, smelly toilet brush; had to hide it from view in the bathroom; needs throwing away! - no shower gel, only shampoo provided - no bath mat/towel to step onto when getting out of the shower to dry feet - no drinking water glasses, only single-use flimsy plastic glasses - not environmentally friendly and not nice to drink out of - No drinking water bottles on tea tray - Extremley worn out pillow cases, overused fabric discoloured and fraying - Scottish biscuits on tea tray - tasted nice, but support local and have English biscuits when in England - En suite smelled very strongly of damp - Our bath towels were on the bed upon check-in, but the hand towel was neatly placed on top of the toilet!?! The towel was also very damp. - Overall, the room was bland and beige, missing some TLC, looks tired and ignored.
The four poster bed was splendid, a real nice touch to match the quirkiness of the property. Staff were friendly and helpful, to receive chocolates and prosecco in celebration of our wedding anniversary was a lovely touch. The bar was fully stocked with friendly bar staff. Good parking in the rear courtyard.
The only real downside was a damp smell from the bathroom, perhaps from the shower curtain set up needs reviewing as the smell was overpowering.
Excellent stay great breakfast and clean room very comfortable

Value for money
No breakfast on Mondays
I askI stayed at your hotel on Friday night. During my stay, I asked a member of staff for some teabags, but unfortunately they were never brought to my room. I was disappointed that my request was not followed up, especially as I had specifically asked for them. I am now back home, but I wanted to bring this to your attention as I expected better service during my stay.ed staff for teabags and the said
Location and food.
Decor in need of a refresh and cleaning not the best.
The staff at the property and the lady in reception were very welcoming. The hotel has a lovely vibe, very relaxed feel to it. Great value for money.
The location
The room was dirty, smelt and was noisy. Reception was ok; bar staff average; food poor. The breakfast croissant was very stale. The banana was ok.
Lovely garden and clean spacious room. Amazing breakfast
Beautiful great location lovely outside seating areas cosy bar and great staff couldn’t do enough for you
Nothing
Had real charm and sense of history. Very homely atmosphere.
Nothing not to like.
Location and outer decor and on site parking
Window in room 4 hard to open or close.
Room comfortable with excellent view of landscape. Shower powerful and hot. Free parking.
A little dated, no full length mirror or sockets near dressing table. Noisy door closures and adjacent guests.
Stayed for 1 night and would recommend staying here. The staff were super friendly and polite. The hotel itself has an old English charm to it. Some things were dated, but that added to the overall feel. The rooms were clean and tidy. We had food in the evening, which was lovely and reasonably priced.
Nothing
The staff were absolutely excellent, did everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, the food was incredible and the view from the room over the cotswolds was unmatched. Everything you need and parking was very easy.
Rooms and beds are very comfortable and a lovely style.
Breakfast was great, super selection and really easy. Twin bead were great
Room was tired, bathroom particularly. Windows backed on to the patio so loud talking until quite late and people walking past constantly so not very quiet at all. Very hot in the room
Old style hotel. Staff were lovely. Room was spotless and very comfortable. Located slap bang in the middle of the main street.free parking. Stayed 4nts when leaving felt we were saying goodbye to friends.would definitely go back.
No complaints.
The hotel lobby and bar are very charming and old world village and really. Staff were very nice and helpful however while the rooms were over all clean some decorating is required, fresh paint etc and general updating.
The rooms are a little dated however I do understand it is an older hotel, didnt like old Lino/oil cloth in bathroom and skirting board needs to changed and be painted, rooms were a little tired
Beds were very comfy view from the top floor was excellent bar was lovely and cosy
Location
Accomodation rough, interior very dated and shabby, staff niserable, beer awfull
Good location right in the middle of chipping Norton
Car park very small and tight , inside very tired and in need of up grading especially the carpets and decor
Great overnight stay from start to finish. Hotel was easy to find lots of choice for breakfast
Everything, superb in every way thankyou 👍
Nice hotel
Fantastic location on the main street with private car park to rear
The main street is busy, and therefore the front facing bedrooms can be noisy
Dog friendly, very polite and welcoming staff!
Car park is too small
Nice layout. Nice atmosphere, nice location, good parking.
Bedroom was cramped
kamer aan voorzijde erg gehorig veel verkeer, bijna niet geslapen, geen uitgebreid engels ontbijt.
Staff were lovely and friendly, Sean on reception was particularly helpful and cheerful. Always welcoming and bar staff were too. Lovely seating areas in the courtyard of hotel and in the bar area. Right in the centre of Chipping Norton, so very convenient.
The noise from the traffic in rooms at front of hotel all night.
Breakfast was excellent one of the best variety we’ve had in the UK. Location & gardens lovely.
Cleanliness was very poor. The room wasn’t clean. Cobwebs and dust on the bed , curtains & other places in the room. Crumbs on the floor when we arrived & still there when we left. The seat in the room broken & unsafe & I nearly fell through it.
Its location
The price was very expensive
Lovely and very friendly staff , great location for what we wanted, the building had charm and character
The pillows were too hard for myself.
Breakfast and great location!
Wi-fi didn’t work in room but did in shared areas.
Location
Hugely overpriced 3 star accommodation dirty carpets in rooms . Our extortionate rates didn’t include any drinking water in the rooms or breakfast .
It was absolutely amazing and staff so kind
The breakfast was lovely Location was amazing
Car park needs sorting or lines to be re done We asked for a glass of Prosecco only to to be told At 7 pm on a Saturday we had to buy a bottle
Good location
Too many steps, room was too hot difficult for sleeping
great location. really good accomadation ,really different to a commercial hotel. so nice , quirky id say.
can't say I disliked anything. everything was location appropriate ,village feel and atmosphere . great value . so only thing I didnt like was that I didn't book for longer.
Friendly staff and good location.
Could not wait to return to see Linda and the lovely staff again. Each time its a adventure. This hotel has so much character both in the decor and around the area of Chipping Norton. This time tried the breakfast may i say the choice was extensive and everything cooked lovely.
Didnt book for long enough.
The location and the free onsite parking. The room was exactly what we needed.
The room could have done with a more thorough dusting.
The owner who checked me in, was delightful, and made sure I was very comfortable in a quiet room after a long car journey. Old-fashioned courtesy which I like!
High step in over bath to shower!
Great location & good parking
Dated rooms, cramped & fusty
Lovely private room, very quiet , with a very comfortable bed. In a gorgeous old hotel,in the middle of a picturesqe town. Absolutely lovely lady who runs(? owns ) the hotel, and very lovely young lady at check in. Fabulous place to stay! Excellent location! Right in the centre of town. There is parking at the back ( we didn't realise but it is close to the free car park as well). Great meal in the bar downstairs. We were there in a heat wave ( there is no aircon) but had fans, which were totally fine.
Nothing. Loved the stay at this hotel! Guests should be aware that there are lots of stairs - it is a very old gorgeous building.
Excellent stay thanks everyone staff were great as was the room
Large bedroom and very comfortable bed. Great location
Had a bar meal unfortunately my husbands fish had not been filleted so quite off putting
It was old with great features but with modern style Great place with great atmosphere with kind employees .
The full English breakfast more the bacon as not the nicest and gave me upset stomach for the day but not enough too put the hotel down.
Mycket hjälpsam och trevlig personal, god mat.
The bed was comfortable
The staff. We were left sitting for ages before anyone attended to us and the front of house lady seemed to be 164 and just like cybil fawltey!
The location is excellent. The bar area and outdoor seating area was lovely. Our room was large and bed was very comfortable. Staff were very helpful.
The bathroom could have done with an update. There was no option for food, not even a breakfast even though these were advertised outside the hotel. We did ask about it and was told the extractor fan was being cleaned and we could get breakfast on the Wednesday, the last day of our stay. We went to the dining room to be told that they only did cooked breakfasts on a weekend and bank holidays, if that was the case, why were we not offered the continental breakfast on our arrival.
Nice spacious bathroom. Fast flowing shower.
I struggled to charge my mobile devices so I was hoping to have USB charge outlet around the room. Thankfully the TV has a USB but only charges when the TV is on. Plug sockets are next to the bed for anyone who remembers their chargers.
perfect for what we wanted and comfortbale
Lovely location and hotel, staff were very friendly
Needed directions to car park
Simple, clean, comfortable and a great location
The location was spot on and the staff very helpful and pleasant.
Great location and lovely garden
Questionable parking facilities 😉
Enjoying spacious room and the breakfast was excellent lots of choice
breakfast was nice
could not get a mini refrigerator , other rooms had them. Shower drain was clogged and could not run the shower at full rate or it would overflow onto the floor, Hotel mgmt knew it was clogged but could not /would not fix it. Got fines for parking, even thou I was fully paid up. Now the rental car company wants their fees , I cant seem to get it all to stop even though I sent proof I was paid up.
Plenty of parking, staff were nice and room was clean and bright.
Shower was difficult to get to correct temperature. It was either too hot or too cold.
The property was exceptionally clean and well-maintained throughout our visit. The staff was always very polite and made sure we felt welcome. It was also highly convenient to have parking available right around the back of the building.
Very comfortable and clean. The staff very helpful and gave lots of info about where to visit . Lovely
The breakfast was very delicious 😋
前台的女士非常和蔼可亲. 带花园的酒吧太棒了
住宿是带酒吧的老酒店,设施有些陈旧
The room was really large and comfortable and the location was perfect. They really made a fuss of my son for his 11th birthday with a wonderful gift for him waiting in the room - thank you so much!
Nothing no to like
Great stay comfortable bed. The food and breakfast was excellent
Excellent breakfast We ate our evening meal at the hotel too and really enjoyed the food. Good size room and pleasant decor Nice ambiance in the hotel
The water from the cold water tap in the bathroom was very warm. Given the hot weather, some bottled water would have been appreciated. Some noise carried into the room from the outside seating area but that is due to the layout of the hotel and can’t be changed. It was quiet at night which was the main thing.
Was extremely hot in the room. It was during the heat wave, so to be expected but unfortunately I was in the to for and it was unbearable. Then got moved down a floor which was an improvement but still very difficult to sleep. Needed a decent fan or air con.
Full of character, quirky, great location, friendly staff
Our shower did not work due to old fittings and limescale..we received complimentary breakfast to make ammends. Limited parking
Bra beliggenhet, koselig terrasse område
Støy, dusj på rommet var i ustand, generelt slitt
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ had a wonderful stay at the Crown & Cushion Hotel. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The hotel has a lovely historic atmosphere, and its location is perfect for exploring the local area. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options to choose from. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would happily stay here again. Highly recommended!
Location was central - shops and bus stops very close. Huge breakfast spread available at the weekend. No cooked breakfast on the Monday, but a plate of pastries and fruit was brought to my room.
The only thing I can think of was that the bar didn't have Aperol to make a Spritz 😄
Room
Lovely location
Location ..friendly staff..room was clean.and plenty of space in room .lovely comfortable four poster bed .
Went there 40 odd years ago ..Just had to go back as loved it then and will defo be back .
Central, friendly welcome
Shower not very good
Location
The restaurant very poor quality the food disgusting
The breakfast was fab and the bed was comfortable. The location is in the centre of the old part of Chipping Norton.
The rooms were tired and looked unloved with stained cushions. Unfortunately we stayed during the heat wave with the rooms unbearably hot, no air conditioning and the windows opening onto the high street which is a main through road. Although there is a car park (which we needed to directions to find), it was full when we arrived.
Location, charming, characterful, quirky
No wifi, shower didn't work
Very good
Quaint hotel with a cosi and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely location and so central. Staff were friendly.
Liked everything. No complaints
Good location and great history
No warning before arrival of work being done to roof which was very noisy and intrusive. We had travelled a long way and too noisy to get any rest and also woken at 8am with workmen able to see into my granddaughters room.
