Crown Cottage, newly refurbished in a contemporary style in 2022, offering a fully furnished property complete with everything you need for the perfect stay. An end terraced, one bedroom cottage located in the center of Appleby (2 minute walk from the Crown & Cushion and the market square) consisting of a lounge/diner and fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, oven and microwave. Upstairs there is one good size bedroom (with the choice of super-king or twin beds) with its own walk-in wardrobe and flat screen TV, a superb large double shower room with underfloor heating. The cottage has a 55ins flat screen wall mounted tv with Sky, Netflix and complimentary WIFI .
You can park directly outside Crown Cottage on the street, this is free between 6pm and 8am and has a three hour restriction at other times with a parking disc (disc provided in the cottage), alternatively, the town’s main car park is 20mtrs away (come outside your cottage turn left and it’s on your left (very reasonable charges).

Reviewed Sep 12, 2026Location was in a pub in the centre of Appleby. Very friendly staff. Good atmosphere in the pub although we arrived too late for food . The bedrooms were pleasant .. we were in a twin room. Excellent value accomodation which included breakfast.
I didn’t sleep well as I was too hot, although my sister did. I could hear the noises of my neighbour through the walls and also noises from outside the property.

Parking is restricted around the property. We parked on the street behind which is a short walk which is fine but as we were attending a wedding, we didn’t check in until after midnight which made getting our bag etc a little more difficult.

It was pretty hot so we had the windows open - the bells from the nearby church are chiming all night every 30 mins or so… There were earplugs provided, you will need them if you’re not a heavy sleeper!

Ate in pub in the evening and Food great and good hearty portions. Lots of dogs around which we loved. Information Book in room was helpful but also gloriously funny and quirky . My daughter and I laughed our way through some entries. We did a quiet walk up to the grounds of the castle at sunset and found it quite magical to walk round an early medieval castle keep when we had the whole of the grounds to ourselves.
Nothing. You have to be prepared for a busy local pub atmosphere but we liked that. If you want a spiritual retreat quiet experience you probably will find not your cup of herbal tea., although they do stock it!

Reviewed May 3, 2026La camera era spaziosa e confortevole, letto grande dove si dorme benissimo, bagno moderno quindi ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Abbiamo cenato al pub, cibo molto buono tipico e ottimo servizio, gente amichevole.
C'è stata un po' di confusione serale nel pub che si trova al piano terra, io ero in vacanza quindi non mi dava noia ma è un fattore da tenere da conto.

When we walked in it smelt really fresh and clean. The bathroom was great with a walk in shower, bed was super comfy. Overall lovely stay and would highly recommend it..
