Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel reception, bar and restaurant were pleasant. Good tea selection in room.
The parking situation was not practical and I expected on site parking for the cost. The room was small, with very uncomfortable beds and pillows that should have been replaced a long time ago. They were lumpy and well used. I found them so disgusting I slept with my coat rolled up instead of using them. The bedding was clean, but again well used and not good quality. The room had a smell that I found disgusting. It was a mix of damp and sweat, which hit us as soon as we opened the door. We used the restaurant twice - once for a drink while we were waiting to check in, and again for breakfast and we found some of the staff seemed to turn their nose up at us because we were dressed practically, and not smartly. There was a waiter in particular who looked at us, judged us, and clearly found us lacking. I had to ask him to come over and take our order because he was trying to ignore us! And the breakfast options were odd, and the food quality was poor quality and badly cooked when it arrived. Overall, this hotel is not worth the price they charge. It doesn’t even have a good location.
Mountain views were incredible, great location with only a short walk away to bus stop, friendly staff and outstanding restaurants with delicious room service breakfast from the nest
No shuttle bus from airport to accommodation
Beautiful staff, beautiful views
Unfortunately the amenities provided were lacking - nothing like a hotel, no snacks provided, the tv was subpar, the room was not super clean (I’m not usually fussy but there was dust and did not smell nice) however for the price not worth so would not stay again, would just stay in a hotel next time
Staff were good
It was a buffet which was very disappointing after paying good amount you expect to eat to fill your belly but it wasn’t the case also the food gave us stomach ache
The view from our room (Lakeview room) was amazing as was the view from the restaurant. The staff were so friendly on Reception as well as in the Bar, and Dining Room. Very pleasant. The breakfast was first class.
For us - nothing. We were very happy
The view at breakfast each day was stunning
Rooms were clean and beds were comfy
We had a wonderful stay at Kamana Lakehouse. The views are absolutely breathtaking and made the whole experience feel so special. The room and facilities were beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and maintained to a very high standard. One of the highlights was the bed, it was incredibly comfortable and we had such a great night’s sleep. Everything felt thoughtfully designed, peaceful and luxurious, making it the perfect place to relax after a day exploring Queenstown. We would highly recommend Kamana Lakehouse to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable stay with unforgettable views. We would happily return!
Amazing view, great staff at reception
Staff at restaurant not so polite
Location and the bed
The bathroom can be improved
Views from our room and breakfast / dinner amazing
Lack of amenities included for price point.
We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival and it was hot
awesome staff and incredible stay, the soak is such a fabulous touch.
Location, cleanliness and staff
There were no snacks in room available at night and I had to order Uber eats. There should be a mini bar and some snacks available in the room.
Soak/ hot tub was a lovely experience
No milk provided for tea and coffee in the room. Rooms were very small and compact for a family of 4 compared to other hotels around the South Island.
fantastic stay at Kamana Lakehouse, top notch staff, great breakfast, and the views are truly to die for. Were really accommodating of our kids too.
The hotel was a small boutique hotel, and it was not far from town. There spa was an added bonus, our TV volume was not working and WIFI was not the best. The Breakfast was great but would be nice to have some toast on the cereal table. The NEST restaurant we went for dinner, I cannot fault it was a beautiful experience, and food was amazing especially the Creme Brulee WOW I recommend
WIFI and TV
Friendly staff and great Lakeview.
The restaurant was beautiful and the rooms were nice with beautiful amenities.
Didn’t like that our room was seperate from the hotel, which meant if it was raining and we wanted to go for breakfast we had to walk outside to get to breakfast. The shower pressure was also very low and very sensitive when you change the temperature it would change dramatically.
Accommodation was really modern and cleaned daily. Breakfast was fantastic, and great view to wake up to. We had dinner at the Nest twice and fantastic both times. Cocktails and coffee were also excellent!
Only issue was the bathhouse, a bit disappointed that the glass has been frosted over - so you can’t see the view when you are in the pool. They probably need to update their marketing material to more accurately reflect the space. They are also building some extra rooms and buildings which now slightly obstructs the view from both the bathhouse and the dining area.
Extremely friendly staff and the bonus of an upgrade was fabulous.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
The views were incredible. Esteban provided exceptional service at dinner.
Unfortunately, our experience was very underwhelming. Given the cost of the stay, we were particularly disappointed by the level of construction and noise, which wasn’t disclosed to us beforehand. The rooms also felt very dated and weren’t as clean as we would have expected. There was visible mould in the shower, which was particularly disappointing. I really wanted to love this property, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. In hindsight, I’m very glad we kept our alternative accommodation rather than committing our entire stay here.
The accommodation was modern and clean. I especially liked having breakfast at the restaurant and the staff were excellent there.
Some of the interior of the hotel room needs to be freshened up. The spa pool was too cold and so we couldn't have a spa.
Restaurant was good food for breakfast
No view as advertised it's simply view of a full car park not "internal court yard" No car parking so had to walk down the street with all bags and when asked at front counter was told it is stated everywhere when booking about limited parking
The soak experience was great, and the view was excellent. The staff left us some chocolates for our anniversary. The bar staff were incredibly friendly.
The room felt a bit basic for the price, a little too much motel vibe, lighting was not very atmospheric, just downlights. I felt sad for them that building construction was on going. The noise was not audible from our room and apart from a crane in the way, it didn't change our stay much. The first night arriving in the bar/restaurant, I don't think we were made to feel very welcome.. they had an event on... The bar staff we a standout.
Extremely comfortable and big beds! Amazing accommodation, will be back.
N/A
nice big room. dining area/lobby well designed. stunning view over the lake (but you are also looking over a car park unless you book a room in front of the hotel. downhill walk into town.
the front of the hotel is currently a construction zone. uphill walk from town. guest hot tubs were booked out all sfternoon/evening.
Extremely comfortable bed and good breakfast. Amazing view.
Only one night there plus construction in front of the hotel. Hope it doesnt block the view.
Restaurant
Sunna spa
The location
La vista desde el vestíbulo y su desayunador.
Las habitaciones un poco chicas.
Amazing view!
There was construction next door - obviously that isn’t there all the time!
Breakfast was a la carte but has an amazing selection. Food was amazing!! Best breakfast we had amongst all our hotel stays.
Internet connection in the mountain view and garden rooms could be better. Soak tubs would be better if temperature could be adjusted. 39 degrees was too hot.
Fantastic location, facilities, inclusions and a perfect winter escape for all ages. We loved the common lounge where we could spend time by the fire. The breakfast included was second to none and service was exceptional. We will be back.
View, ammenities, rooms, soak tub and Nest Restaurant.
Nothing.
Our room met our expectations in every way, featuring excellent, immaculate bathroom facilities. The complimentary products were a highlight—they smelled divine and kept my skin beautifully soft despite the dry, cold conditions. One of our favourite details was the seating area outside the breakfast room; enjoying a morning coffee by the fireplace offered a wonderfully cozy, calming, and intimate start to the day. To top it off, the staff's catering services were exceptional. We booked dinner for our final evening, and the outstanding presentation and quality of the food made for a truly memorable meal.
Our room was located at the back of the car park, which required an outdoor walk to the main reception area. If it’s raining, foggy, or wet, this walkway can become quite slippery and a bit of a hazard. Additionally, we were told about the hot pools upon arrival, but because they book out quickly, it would have been ideal to know about them beforehand. It would be a great improvement if the booking team could suggest reserving the hot pools to guests prior to their arrival so they can plan accordingly.
Breakfast was delicious
Maybe a few sweet cakes on the breakfast bench to have with the coffee . Cereal can be boring.
Amazing views of the lake and mountains
Room smelled. TV did not work. Room was not properly cleaned.
Beautiful views from my room and restaurant space! Loved that breakfast and the onsen was complimentary. It is a little further from town but ubering was easy to do.
This hotel was amazing! The view was incredible and the rooms were clean, modern and spacious. The staff were friendly and attentive. 10/10 stay
Nothing
BEWARE - CONSTRUCTION OUTSIDE PREMIUM ROOMS UNTIL LATE 2027 & APALLING BOOKING EXPERIENCE. I've had a very poor booking experience with this hotel so far. I initially booked via Booking.com, but we had to amend our dates (no fault of the hotel) and then faced a much higher price after moving from June to late July. I've worked in the industry so understand dynamic pricing based on demand/utilisation.. I then contacted the hotel direct and dealt with their Reservations Manager, who was very polite. However, when rebooking I found that they required payment 30 days prior to travel, which wasn't the original terms I had booked under. When speaking with Reservations Manager he then offered/suggested that we upgrade from the Remarkables King Lake View to the Tahuna Lake View premium rooms, at a small upgrade price. I agreed to both the upgrade and paying in advance and completed the credit card authorisation. I explained both on the phone and via email that I was travelling with my wife and 5-year old son (who had been included in the original booking) and had a couple of significant milestone birthdays occurring during our stay. We had also pre-booked dinner at the Nest restaurant as a resultt I was then contacted a number of days later by the Reservations Manager after we had previously received a full confirmation, and was advised that they cannot accommodate a child in the room - even though he would share the King bed with us. This feels discriminatory and also the fact that they do not clearly advertise the significant construction project in front of the hotel's premium rooms that has been occurring since April 2024 according to the one line in the T&Cs on their booking confirmation. I only found out about the construction from another Google Review and was only told after I enquired about it. It would be very simple for the hotel to add a small banner or pop-up on their website to advise in advance that it would likely disrupt the stay and the lake view. Having worked in the tourism industry for well over a decade I have found the entire experience very poorly handled and largely misleading. They have offered us a downgrade to a lower level Twin Room (not Premium), or to cancel the booking as they are yet to charge our card - even though I had to authorise payment days ago due to their strict policies. After having made the original booking over 4 weeks ago, the prices of other accommodation have increased significantly since then so I will be financially penalised as a result. I requested the General Manager call me directly which he has failed to do so, and they claimed they do not have my phone even though I provided a number of times during booking and credit card authorisation. Very disappointed and buyer beware. I will be reporting my experience to Destination Queenstown and on other review sites. As a proud Kiwi and former Queenstown resident I am frankly appalled and ashamed if other international visitors should experience this level of service.
View from dining room was great
Didn't know we had to reserve hot tub, surcharge on food and drinks due to holiday.
Beautiful spot outside of the crowds of Queenstown. Gorgeous view! Staff was friendly and helpful - hopefully to return on our next trip to Queenstown!
Very comfortable, spacious and clean.
Nice view from the room and the room was clean
Considering the price the room was rough paint flaking from the exterior wall on the balcony table in the room was peeling on the laminate coffee machine hadn't been cleaned inside we did the hot soak and the tint on the glass had been ripped off in areas with a building site below and a giant smiths crane parked right infront if the viewing area this was advised before booking the hot soak but it definitely was a disappointment
Beautiful views, nice comfy bed, nice breakfast. Room was upstairs overlooking the lake which was very nice
Traffic noise from street at the back of the room and the coldness coming through the main metal door and a cold bathroom.
Staffs. Amazing hospitality. Nice bar and restaurant. Views were amazing
Overrated . Great views, but you’re in Queenstown and that’s a given. A day prior to arrival we rang to extend our stay. There was some confusion about our booking and the reception was dismissive and even when they located our booking, we were told our room wasn’t very good anyway cause it didn’t have a view. Apart from that the tv didn’t work, there was no milk in the fridge and no hair dryer. Overall having stayed in hotels all over the world this place apart from the beautiful view from their restaurant was a disappointment and I won’t be recommending it. It’s the little things that make your stay. Kamana Lakehouse needs to work on the details. Thanks to all the staff who were helpful and pleasant.
Cleaniness
Television system worst part . Its really hard to connect with chrome cast
The Kamana Lakehouse was exactly as advertised. Everything was excellent - from the service and meals to the rooms and soak tubs. Not to mention the spectacular view from the dining area. This is a must visit for anyone travelling to breathtaking Queenstown.
The view is stunning, rooms very comfy food was delicious
Great stay!!! 100% recommend - would definitely come back! The soak was very relaxing. The mountain view room is worth it!
Fantastic housekeeping, clean rooms ,great breakfast and lovely view
Customer service at Reception, when we arrived wasn't very inviting he handed us over to the his colleague to check us in tho neither of them were doing anything but standing there weren't welcoming, then he proceeds to give her our room card after she wasn't able to locate, then upon checkout again different staff but again the lady at front desk did not smile put a really dampener on my 1st impression of a property I was looking forward to staying at
A genuine 10/10 experience from start to finish. The accommodation was beautiful, the food was outstanding, and the service was warm, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. The hot baths were a real highlight and the perfect way to relax while taking in the stunning surroundings. We also loved the convenience of being able to hire one of the on-site cars by the hour or day, which made exploring the area incredibly easy. A special thank you to Andrea, the Duty Manager, who showed exceptional kindness, care, and professionalism when we experienced a personal family issue during our stay. Her support and genuine compassion made a difficult situation much easier to navigate, and we are very grateful. Every detail was thoughtfully considered. We would happily stay again and highly recommend Kamana Lakehouse to anyone visiting Queenstown.
The public areas were great
I paid for a good quality room with a view of the mountain. However, outside the hotel there was a lot of building work around the perimeter. The actual views were marred by only seeing the building site rubble and any work in progress. I think the hotel should have warned me and also put up screens to mask the work. Neither was done.Plus compensation for the lack of care in presenting the hotel in such a bad light. The staff were unfazed when I complained. All the rooms were affected. I booked the hotel in the strength of the high quality photos. This was a 'Remarkable Room'.at around £350/night. I've booked 16+ plus hotels for my 3 week New Zealand trip. This was the most.expensive and the most disappointing.
Lovely beautiful location. Very friendly and professional staff
Nothing. Would recommend to add in a microwave
I liked the service i received, the resturant was lovely, beds comfortable.
A had a cheese platter in my room on arrival but no cheese knife to cut the cheese. We didnt ring and ask for one to be brought up. I used a spoon.
