Walkable to shopping restaurants and chicago theater
Older building but still felt safe and clean ! Did not like the street noise .. we Westin the 13th floor in corner room
Beautiful building inside and out
Building work outside window room 513 early morning and awoken by constant noise
Great location. Easy to walk to the Bean and museums, or walk north for some retail shopping. Boats for architecture tours are close by. Lots of food options within 10-20min walk. Free water provided daily.
Elevators are very slow.
The cleanness , the taste, the bed, the welcome drink, the staffs...
Nothing
I'm so disappointed that I can not get the invoice for the room charge I paid. The Booking.com told me the hotel shall be responsible to issue this invoice directly to customer, but the hotel refuse to do so. I do not know where is the problem, but as the customer, I can not get the invoice for the amount I paid, this is so strange and completely unacceptable!
Good location
Slow elevators which seemed original, ill equipped to cover the needs of a 30 plus floor facility. Halls throughout the hotel were dark and dingy. Sliding shower door wouldn't stay shut during actual shower. The well advertised roof top deck had a private event on Saturday and was closed Sunday and Monday as well which apparently is the schedule but no where was it posted or explained during check in Really poor, disappointing experience especially considering it was $1,500 for 3 nights with no breakfast included. Spend your money somewhere else. Lousy experience

Elegant but not pretentious. Great location and friendly staff. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were clean. Will definitely stay there again.
historic building location exceptional staff; above and beyond bellman service; we felt well taken care of
no cashier at the property
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Sent us to an excellent restaurant. Helpful in planning our activities for a short stay (3 nights) in Chicago. Nice breakfast experience at the restaurant. Again, excellent service. Room was not all that clean. Stains on the carpet which would not be expected from a hotel of this caliber. Towels were frayed which was unusual for a hotel at this level and supplies not ample. Would stay there again based on quality of service and location.
Gorgeously appointed hotel in a fantastic location. The building is iconic and the staff were so helpful and delightful. They could not have done enough to assist.
Nothing. It was perfect!
Our experience was terrific from beginning to end. Micheal greeted us at the door and he was the last person we saw upon our departure. He took very good care of us
I stayed at The Pendry Chicago for several nights and booked through Bilt’s Home Away From Home program. Given the property’s reputation and price point, I expected a much more polished experience. Unfortunately, the stay fell well short of what I would consider luxury. The problems started at check-in. There was no mention of the package, no acknowledgment of the benefits, and no explanation of what was included with my booking. The front desk associate seemed unfamiliar with the program, and there did not appear to be any note attached to my reservation. No one gave me any real orientation to the hotel either: restaurants, breakfast, amenities, Wi-Fi, or even the basic details you would expect at check-in. I eventually had to ask for a manager, who provided a one-level room upgrade and walked me through the on-property benefits. At a hotel in this category, that should not require escalation. One of the benefits was a $60 breakfast credit for two people. In reality, that does not come close to covering breakfast for two once coffee, tax, and service charges are added. A luxury hotel benefit should feel like a benefit, not a minor offset against already high pricing. Service throughout the stay was inconsistent. The bell staff and room service delivery team were friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the front desk and concierge experience felt detached and unwelcoming. There was very little warmth, polish, or sense of hospitality. The room itself was fine, but not memorable. Comfortable enough, but very average for the rate. The light switches were oddly configured, including needing to go toward the front door area to turn off certain lights. There was also a light inside the wardrobe area where pants were hung that flickered like a strobe and would not stay on properly. The windows were visibly dirty. The Wi-Fi was painfully slow, which made the room even less functional for anyone trying to work. Room service was also extremely expensive, with delivery fees and additional charges layered onto already high menu prices. The biggest issue by far was the noise. I had read other reviews mentioning it and assumed it might be typical downtown-hotel feedback. It was not. The noise was constant: sirens, honking, emergency vehicles, street activity, and maintenance or repair work with power tools. This was not occasional background noise. It was disruptive enough that working from the room, taking client calls, or getting meaningful rest was difficult. For a property at this level, the soundproofing is simply not adequate. Better-insulated windows should be standard, especially in a downtown location where street noise is predictable. Overall, I would not stay here again. Chicago has too many strong hotel options to justify luxury pricing without a luxury-level experience. Between the inconsistent service, average room, painfully slow Wi-Fi, expensive food and beverage, and the inability to work or sleep without constant disruption, this was a disappointing stay.
Spacious room and a fantastic location
Traffic noise was very loud… but quieted late in the evenings
This location is just perfect, in the heart of the city, adjacent to the museums and the Magnificent Mile, walking distance to the riverwalk and SO MANY RESTAURANTS! The accommodations are very clean and it was a great ambiance. Chic and vibrant but quiet at the same time. I would definitely stay here again!
Once again another memorable stay at The Pendry! It’s always a pleasure to stay here because of its location but the staff of The Pendry Chicago is second to none! Always excited to arrive because I know without a doubt we’ll receive the warmest welcome. It starts off with the doorman Dolapo! He’ll say welcome back with a salute and the warmest heartfelt smile. Also included in the greeting is the Valet staff of Mike, and the whole staff. Then comes Perry who always smiles and loads our bags and escorts us in. Muriel is next with a welcome back and trust me a very professional front desk lady who handles the pressure of so many checking in and out seems like non-stop. Crystal, Daniel, Maria, of the front desk staff always take care of us throughout the day as well. Jalesa will always contacts me to make sure everything is going well and if I need anything she’ll help in anyway she can. Now Christian from room service made a special trip just to bring some condiments, Olivia was very pleasant and was enjoyed as well. I know I’m missing a few names but that’s ok I’ll do better to remember next time. To be honest, always sad to go, but happy to return!
Always love staying at the Pendry Hotel in Chicago. Location, size of hotel, love the historic building and what they did to preserve it and turn it into a hotel. The staff, lounge areas, bar cafe.... and beds..... all fantastic.
Room was extremely noisy from outside the sirens and horns. You will not get a good sleep. The valet expect you to carry cash to tipon hand. If not, then they will be extremely rude. Make sure that you are in a suit to fit in the tire, because if you are in any street attire, the management will look at you and judge you and look at you like you do not deserve to be there. If you’re going to this place, make sure you wear a three-piece suit and look like you have $1 million because if you don’t, you will definitely get judged and you will definitely not like the vibe that you are getting there. I recommend trying somewhere else I would never visit this place again.
The Pendry is in a class of its own: sheer elegance with top notch, dedicated staff all around that one would expect from this high caliber of a hotel. Located in a beautiful Art Deco building in right Michigan Avenue, plenty of F & B and fun attractions/options nearby, attached cafe/brasserie Venteux, unforgettable rooftop bar and wonderful gym. Bar/"living room" area east of the foyer, also a great spot to enjoy some cocktails. Spacious rooms, comfy bed & sleek bathroom. 5 out of 5!!! Thank you the staff again --- Tre
Stayed here for 1 night before Chicago half marathon. Reservation via FHR from Amex. There were 4 of us including two adult children running the race next day. We arrived around noon and a room was available but on a lower floor. I was disappointed that the only upgrade option through FHR was to a room with one king bed. I feel upgrades should be able to accommodate the same number of guests. Our room was nice. Two queen beds and standard amenities. Nothing over and above what I would consider normal room amenities. Coffee maker, water, overpriced snacks and alcohol. My biggest complaint was SO MUCH noise from the street below. Between sirens, horns and showoffs it was non stop until after 10:30PM. The staff was kind. In general it was just...fine. Valet is $82/night. I realize we had limited exposure to the property with only a one night stay, but for a 5 star location, it was just somewhat underwhelming. Probably not anything we would seek out on a return trip. There are plenty of other options for the same price in the area.
The service at this hotel is incredibly uneven. We did not receive our upgrade that was supposed to be rewarded through American Express. I complained about loud noise banging in the middle of the night, and no one made any attempt to resolve the situation. And while there was a generous credit for both breakfast and other amenities in the facilities, no one offered to make a reservation or mentioned that it would be very difficult to actually use that in the restaurant, which is always full and has a long line. The rooms are perfectly adequate.
Dolapo was just the most wonderful doorman! We was so kind and helped us. And remembered our kids every time they came in. He is just the best!
The hotel was wonderful and the staff was incredibly friendly, especially Dolapo! He was very friendly and super helpful with anything we needed. He took great care of us!
As you well know, Chicago has so many hotels but only the Pendry has Muriel Tan, Perry and Colin. I mean it when I say that when the word hospitality comes up I will have their smiling faces and incredibly attentive service immediately coming to mind. Muriel tracked down CityPass procedures for us and sent us a most timely message as we explored The Art Institute. Perry did not just give me directions he walked me to the Hop on Hop Off bus stop while also suggesting other special experiences for visitors and Colin in Engineering so patiently and graciously helped us reboot our TV to watch Netflix. My husband and I were looking forward to our visit to your "Windy City" but we never imagined that the professionalism and friendliness of your staff would be one of the highlights. Please thank them for making our trip such a lovely memory. The Pendry is rightly recognized for its beautiful architectual exterior but the hotel staff within is what really makes this such a delightful hotel experience.
Mediocre. Not luxury. Overpriced on the Chase sapphire reserve card and Amex platinum benefits. No upgrade given Loud Ac that kept me up at night. Found bugs in my room
This hotel was a truly marvelous experience that I will never forget. I traveled with 4 friends (3 rooms) and we were all blown away by Pendry. First of all, the building itself is likely the most beautiful Art Deco gem I think I've ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on. They have preserved the original 1929 *PEAK* Art Deco lobby, added respectful updates in the reception and lounge areas, and created a gorgeous (and publicly accessible) modern bar/resto that feels chic and ambient. On the top floor, there is a publicly accessible rooftop bar which is loaded with a food and drink menu unique from the lobby bistro, offering a sun-drenched selection of tasty treats and thoughtfully curated drink pairings. Attached to the hotel but, yet again, publicly accessible, is a culturally faithful French bistro serving three meals per day-- a great place to have a quick coffee, leisurely croque madame, or a happy hour oyster spread. The entire staff is highly competent and efficient. From bell hops to housekeeping, they are clearly experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled. The level of service and attention to detail they provide is something I've never experienced before and doubt I will again. The delightful little things they took the time to add were so surprising and thoughtful! Each of us found enormous joy in the many unanticipated bonuses they provided. We loved the location right downtown on Michigan and had no trouble accessing taxis, public transit, or walking to significant sites nearby.
I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Pendry! From the moment I arrived, the customer service was exceptional. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and genuinely focused on making my stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. I really appreciated all the complimentary amenities as well as the variety of additional items available for purchase that added an extra level of comfort and convenience. It’s clear that this hotel puts a huge emphasis on attention to detail, and it truly shows in every aspect of the experience. I honestly cannot recommend staying at the Pendry enough. This stay completely exceeded my expectations, and I’ll definitely be looking out for more Pendry locations during my future travels!
EXCELLENT Hotel, EXCELLENT Service, EXCELLENT Room, EXCELLENT Location I went with my wife to visit Chicago and celebrate our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival they told us that they would give us an Upgrade as a gift. The suite we were assigned was unique, spacious, modern. They gave us some covered strawberries and a prosecco The hotel is first class. The location is the best to know all the points of tourist interest. The detail of arranging our bed every night and leaving us some chocolates. The infusion in the hotel lobby created that addiction of wanting to stop by, greet the staff and serve you a glass of that refreshing drink
Perfect location a block from riverfront. Room was great and the service was amazing. Will look to stay here again. Was able to walk to most downtown places within 5 min and the weekend house car was there if needed!
Lovely hotel but the loudest hotel room I have every stayed in. The windows clearly aren't double glazed and the non-stop sirens throughout the night made it impossible to get rest. I was on the 9th floor. I stay in urban hotels 50% for business travel and have earplugs, white noise, etc. - this was beyond that level of loud.
The Pendry is one those few hotels that actually delivered on all levels that it promised. I took my wife there for an early birthday getaway. First and foremost, we love Chicago, so that was an easy choice. Where to stay? That's the hard choice. I am happy to say that if you choose the Pendry you will get the following. You will get a wonderful reception from the time you walk in the door until the time you check out. Before I arrived, I had several questions about the room, and certain amenities that could be provided. Not only was Muriel extremely helpful on the phone, but she remembered our conversation when I arrived. Not only did she provide exactly what I had requested, but I didn't even have to ask again about it. It was simply taken care of. Not only that, but Muriel also remembered that we had a matinee show to go to, and had Nike, the house driver, on call for us. Nothing made us feel more important than that. I also don't want to dismiss Nike as just a driver. He made you feel safe, and well taken care of from the time we got in the vehicle, until the time we were dropped off. The simple fact that she knew our schedule, and made it magical. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was going to be something special. The fresh flowers in the lobby and sitting areas smelled amazing. It simply exudes refined and quiet luxury. The hotel location is located right on Michigan avenue, and walking distance to many landmark locations and attractions. It's a little bit of a hike to go north to some of the shopping malls, but that's fine. Of course, if you are looking for food, you don't need to bother leaving the hotel. The dining was top notch. Breakfast was Ventieux was unbelievable. I decided on the hamburger for breakfast (once you eat a burger for breakfast, there is no way back), and was floored. As a retired manager of a restaurant, I know my way around food, and this was perfection. A medium burger arrived cooked medium. Room service the next morning was provided promptly, and very delicious. The eggs benedict shouldn't be missed. Speaking of the room, it was spacious and beautiful. It came well appointed with a large bathroom, and plenty of natural light. The bed was comfortable, and it was spotless to match. No stray hairs or anything. Upon checkout, we received our itemized bill from the hotel, and found nothing was overcharged. I did have a question about a feature credit that we had, and wouldn't you know it, Muriel took the time to send me a more detailed bill that actually cleared everything up to me. How helpful is that? I wasn't brushed off, I wasn't put on the back burner, I was simply helped, and I can't ask for more than that. My wife was extremely happy about the entire trip. She loved feeling like she was the most important person in the lobby each time we walked downstairs. And I don't think it was simply lip service. I truly believe that the people at the Pendry really want you to enjoy your stay. Thank you Muriel, and thank you Nike. As well as the rest of the staff we encountered to make it a perfect weekend for my wife and I.
Our stay as with all our stays at the Montage Group hotels was fabulous. The Pendry is an iconic building of the Chicago skyline. The interior is understated but with class. The staff was professional, attentive and friendly. We could not ask for a more pleasant stay. It was the perfect place to stay for our Chicago getaway. I would particularly like to point out the exceptional service we received from Muriel Tan at the front desk, Annie the Concierge, and Chris at the front door. Thanks to all of you as well as your fellow colleagues!
My daughter and I visited Chicago for the first time on Easter weekend and had the BEST time largely due to the excellent staff at the Pendry. Muriel and Dolopo both made us feel like royalty checking in and getting us settled in our beautiful 22nd floor room. The hotel is both gorgeous and historical but the staff was what truly made it magical for us assisting us with every need and offering fun suggestions of things we could try. It rained most of our stay but Annie at the Concierge desk kept us busy with getting us tickets to Hamilton, the architectural boat tour and telling us about the secret entrance to the Art Institute that avoids the crowds. Chris and Dolopo were amazing bell-people making sure we got cabs (even in the pouring rain!) and greeting us when we returned from our adventures. Housekeeping staff (Maria?) was terrific and scheduled around when we left the room for the day and helped us with a messy room situation we made with grace and kindness. The hotel was excellently situated, right where we wanted to be. The Speakeasy night was fun and the singer was great but the service and food was meh. Venteaux was a big disappointment for both food and service as well. The hotel bar was great both times we went and we did order room service after a show one night and it was delicious arrived timely. I was really blown away by how well taken care of we were throughout the weekend and we cannot wait to go back. I cannot recommend this pace enough.
Beautiful Hotel. Very accommodating and staff was great. Dolapo the concierge was awesome. Took care of our large group in the lobby for a 50th Birthday Party!
Excellent experience. Would stay again! The hotel is beautiful, great location. Clean, great service. Lobby bar service excellent by Anis and Isaiah.
My wife and I have been to the Pendry Chicago a few times and always had a great experience, the hotel history and central walking location is perfect. This visit I booked a one-night stay for my 37th Anniversary and once I met Muriel at the front desk, she made sure our stay was perfect and memorable, she is truly professional and great at her job. We also enjoyed the fantastic Jazz band at the speakeasy, the adjoining French restaurant and the lobby bar is always enjoyable. To top it off Muriel asked Deavonte (the house driver) drove us to therein station and saved us about an hour and a half wait.
If you are looking for a "4 star hotel" with high level accommodations and excellent guest service, just stay somewhere else. This hotel is not 4 star. It appears 4 star, as the lobby is gorgeous and the building is historic, but it does not operate as a high level hotel should. Wifi did not work in our room, our guest room phone did not work and was disconnected, food is overpriced, elevators are slow, check-in process was slow and they had so many people waiting in the lobby. If this is booked with fine hotels & resorts through American Express then DEFINITELY avoid - you do not get nearly any of the amenities they say they can/should provide.
Hotel was a bit outdated, breakfast service was horrible. Hostess had a major attitude and the food and waitress took forever to come. Hotel room was noisy.
The Hotel Pendy's prime location is conveniently close to Michigan Ave which is perfect for a lovely walk to shops and food. We were very pleased with the room which was well kept, clean and comfortable. The Verteux resturant on site was excellent, we loved the oysters! Bar Pendry was nice to stop for a drink and relax. I would definitely return for another stay at hotel Pendry.
The Pendry was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The hotel itself was very well maintained. I loved the blend of design between historic Chicago with modern upgrades. Small touches like refilling glass waters in the room each day, to bathrobes, to quality linens really elevated the stay. My room was beautiful. The room service was top quality. I ordered breakfast in every morning. The lattes and chia seed pudding were delicious. The location of this hotel is perfect, I was able to walk everywhere. I would absolutely stay here again.
Great stay! Wonderful and kind staff made the stay comfortable and welcoming. Thanks Muriel and Nike!
My stay at the Pendry Chicago was truly exceptional and made my first trip to Chicago incredibly memorable. From the moment I arrived, the level of service stood out. Every detail felt thoughtful and elevated. A special thank you to Dolapo, who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was seamless and enjoyable. That kind of genuine care and attention makes all the difference and does not go unnoticed. The hotel itself is beautiful, perfectly located, and has such a great atmosphere. Everything, from the rooms to the overall experience, felt refined yet welcoming. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Chicago and I’m already looking forward to my next stay.
I recently stayed at the Pendry Chicago for a quick trip, and while the property itself is beautiful and well-located, what truly stood out and what will absolutely bring me back was the level of service. Muriel and Michael, along with the entire bell staff, went above and beyond to make me feel genuinely welcomed from the moment I arrived. Their attention to detail, warmth, and ability to personalize the experience with great recommendations based on my reason for visiting did not go unnoticed. It’s rare to encounter a team that strikes such a perfect balance between professionalism and authentic hospitality, but they absolutely delivered. I travel a lot, and this was a standout service experience. Because of them, I would not hesitate to return to the Pendry Chicago and would confidently recommend it to others looking for both a beautiful hotel and truly exceptional service.
Our stay in the city was absolutely amazing, and a big part of that was thanks to Pendry! From the moment we arrived, the entire team made us feel so welcome, and every stay here continues to feel special. Pendry truly has a way of making the city feel even more enjoyable, and this hotel always feels cozy. A very special shoutout to Muriel Tan, who has been consistently wonderful during each of my visits. Her professionalism, kindness, and dedication always stand out, and she has a remarkable way of making every stay feel personal and memorable. It is rare to come across someone who delivers such genuine hospitality so consistently, and she is truly one of the reasons I always love coming back. A true professional! The location is also one of our favorite parts of staying here, absolutely beautiful and perfect for walking to so many of the city’s best spots, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. Pendry has made our stay feel like home once again!
Thank you, Muriel, for your personalized care and service during our stay, which made our visit stress-free and memorable. Your attention to detail and warm hospitality truly exceeded our expectations and created a wonderful experience for us.
My room never got below a very humid 71/72 degrees the entire night. I was unable to sleep the entire night. A fan was provided but this was zero help… I have never been at a “luxury” hotel that did not even have functioning AC. I was extremely disappointed by this “2 key Michelin star” hotel… I would have rather stayed at the Citizen’s M across the street.
Excellent location. We have gone a couple times to this hotel and is not overcrowded. It is charming, calm, and easy going. We like it every time we have stayed here. We feel relaxed and almost feel like if we were staying outside the city. And the price is great for the amenities you get and the location.
My mom and I stayed at the Pendry Chicago, and it was easily one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. Our stay was truly unforgettable thanks to Muriel's exceptional service. She went above and beyond in every interaction—welcoming, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. It’s rare to come across someone who brings that level of care, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail, and it made a lasting impression on both of us. The hotel itself is beautiful, comfortable, and in a great location, but it was the personal touch that elevated the entire experience. Thanks to Muriel, what could have been just a nice stay turned into something truly memorable. I can’t recommend the Pendry enough and I hope Muriel gets the recognition she deserves. We’ll absolutely be back!
We had a great two nights at the Pendry. It's an awesome location - walking distance to Millennium Park and the Art Institute and much more. We used the Chase Sapphire Edit credit to stay and received an upgraded room, free breakfast, and $100 property credit. The room was amazing, breakfast was so filling and delicious (we chose room service) and the Venteux Restaurant was wonderful to use our property credit. Lariza at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. I would stay again without hesitation. One minor downside was some street noise/sirens, but it wasn't terrible. Definitely consider this hotel for your next Chicago stay!
Muriel and Crystal at the front desk were excellent!!!! They were very knowledgeable, very helpful and overall perfect. Great people make a hotel great.
Bar area and rooms are nice
The man at the concierge desk I heard him talking to a woman that was needing to order balloons and I overheard him telling the check in staff that he had already talked to the woman so when he called her and then hung up he made a face of annoyance. I was waiting for my car to pick me up and I observed it all ….he was bothered and annoyed…not good
The staff was extremely accommodating. The room was cleaned to perfection every day we were there. Above and beyond.
Amazing stay at the Pendry! Perfect location for getting around town! Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday was such a fun experience, super close to the river and overall great time! Hotel axing with lobby and great rooms! Looking forward to returning! Jackie and Crystal at the front desk amazing!
Our room was huge, appreciated that.
Pretty loud at night, from outside noise. Not hotel’s fault.
Great location. Walking distance to a lot of attractions: art institute, river, bus and train stops
Had an excellent stay at Pendry during "Wilson Global Salesmeeting". Many of the different things was just "best". Best hotelgym, best hotelbar, best breakfast, best hotelbeds, even better than my own at home...;). This was my first time in Chicago, and of course my first stay at this lovely hotel, but definately not the last. If you still hesitate, i can just say...do your booking NOW! /Johan from Sweden.
I had an amazing stay at the Pendry Hotel while traveling with a client. The entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The staff was excellent—professional, attentive, warm, and truly made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The amenities were exceptional and added so much to the overall experience. Everything felt elevated, well thought out, and beautifully done. A definite highlight was the Speakeasy In The Sky featuring Campari Brands—such a unique and memorable experience. Everyone should try it. If you are looking for a hotel with exceptional service, beautiful amenities, and a truly special atmosphere, I highly recommend Pendry.
Very nice hotel! Lobby was spacious and welcoming. Bar looked fabulous. Rooms were clean and laid out nicely. Loved the bathrobes and espresso machine in the rooms! Customer service was exceptional!
Excellent
Excellent
Loved our stay!!! The staff was so friendly and they even surprised me with a bottle of champagne and cupcakes for my birthday. The room was super spacious and clean. This was by far one of my favorite hotel stays.
Only wished the rooftop was open on Sunday for brunch!
They gave us a hard time to check-in (we waited an hour), they released the room at 3:00 am, we arrived from an international flight to the hotel @3:05 am, nobody was at the front desk till 15 minutes later we arrived and they give us the room @4:00 a.m. My co-worker found a spider and a bed bug that morning and changed her room, but they didn't gave me anything for the long wait.
The restaurant was nice and bar area was cosy.
The room was tiny and stuffy.
Staff and housekeeping were amazing! The location is perfect - we walked everywhere and took the redline to most places.
There were two elevators out of the three and you had to wait sometimes up to 15 minutes for an elevator to be free and not filled with people and you couldn’t fit. The sounds from the streets is crazy - we faced the street and it was so loud. From the fire trucks - to the protestors - to the honking. It was all night long.
Great location and amazingly good value. We received a complimentary upgrade because our room wasn't ready and they even comped us some drinks at the bar while we waited. The concierge texted us a few days in advance to ask how they could help which was a nice touch. Great service that made it truly feel like a luxury hotel. And you can't beat the unique architecture.
The on-site restaurant is just so-so but in room dining was excellent. Did think it was a bit odd they charged both an $8 delivery fee and a 22% service charge for it, thought it should have been one or the either given the service is just in the delivery
Location was great! Walking distance to Chicago highlights, restaurants, and the river.
Front desk and Concierge were not welcoming, friendly, or helpful.
I was able to walk around in please 🙏🏾. We enjoyed the Soul feeling .
We enjoyed everything 🙌 ❤️
Elevators need to be modernized - very slow Room was nice
The decor was beautiful and the room was large and comfortable. Location was perfect for what we needed for our trip. The gym was convenient and had decent amenities, but it was a little small and a view would have been nice.
The elevators were incredibly slow, which became a nuisance after one or two days. Our room was right next to a staff room, so it was often loud right outside - that was disappointing for the price we paid. Room service was efficient, but very expensive. We had a meal on the rooftop that was pretty mediocre, even though the view was beautiful.
We were speechless walking into our room. Staff and room exceeded our expectations and we cannot wait to book again.
The people who worked there were great! Quick
Quick service.
Breakfast inside the hotel was pretty good and convenient when not looking to leave the room. The complementary water and espresso shots in the room also make for a great jump start or night cap when you wanted to maintain your comfort. Perry did everything to make sure any question, concern, or need was handled promptly.
After a long morning of moving about the city we returned to the hotel bar area with food that we had purchased before returning and were told that outside food was not allowed in the bar/restaurant area. We returned during check in time so the small lobby was full and there was nowhere else to dine while our room was being turned.
From start to finish great experience. 2nd time here and we will be back! We like the location - we stop at Garrett’s and Stan’s donuts every time.
Plan for delays at the checkin. Avoid rooms toward the Michigan Ave if you want peaceful sleep. Very noisy due to traffic and emergency vehicles.
We had a wonderful stay for the weekend and enjoyed every moment of our time there relaxing in the hotel and the amenities.
I used my AMEX Platinum benefit for a stay at the Pendry Chicago. Sierra was the remarkable guest services agent who checked me in--and she went above and beyond for me! She upgraded me to an incredible corner suite and offered me a complimentary drink at the bar. She's a gem and I've already told all my colleagues and friends to visit the Pendry Chicago and ask for Sierra whenever they visit Chicago. My suite was very, very large and cozy with views of all of downtown. I was very comfortable sleeping there. My friends and I spent Saturday evening at the Pendry Bar. The drinks were made accurately and the ambiance was nice. I just wished the server was a bit more attentive to the guests, as we had to flag him down each time we wanted another drink. We spent well over the $100 AMEX bar credit because we were enjoying ourselves. Everyone was dressed very upscale and the bar exuded elegance and sophistication. For the $60 AMEX breakfast credit, I opted to go down to the restaurant and order my breakfast to go Sunday morning. I wasn't particularly happy with how the check-in host ignored me while I was waiting in line to ask where I need to order my breakfast to go. He saw me arrive, helped the customer in front of me, then proceeded to ask the customer BEHIND me if they had been helped, before they kindly told him that I was first. Then he rudely asked what I wanted. On the other hand, the cashier who took my order was a very friendly trans woman and I ended up giving her a huge tip for her hospitality. She was the complete opposite of the host and exuded excellent customer service. While I did not get the chance to visit the rooftop terraces and other public areas such as the gym, as a Black male, overall I was positively welcomed and will visit again in the future. Thank you, Sierra, the transwoman cashier, and the Pendry staff!
we absolutely adored our stay at the carbon suite. not only was the location exceptional but the staff was also very nice. I would love to stay here again with my family and everything was very nice. in addition to this the chateau carbide was a wonderful addition to our trip. I had no issues however it would be nice if the hotel rooms had virtual room tours or videos on the website to make it easyer to know what you where booking considering several rooms had similar pictures.
Just an average place. Do NOT recommend breakfast. They gave a credit towards breakfast to lure people in there. Eggs Benedict was the worst that we have ever had. Pancakes didn't even taste good. Asked to remove charges from bill and it took so long that we couldn't wait anymore and left. Eat somewhere else. Rooms were just average. This was a disappointment.
We cannot say enough about this amazing hotel! We have tried many, and we don’t stay anywhere else! Besides the beauty of this hotel and the rooms are great, what makes this hotel so special is the staff. The first person you see is Delopo… he transitions you from curbside to the hotel. He is on his toes and so happy to serve and have you there! Then there is Perry. Perry is your inside bellman who handles all the guests and the details with ease, and as if you are the only one there. He can also hail a pretty mean taxi. He then escorts you to the front desk for check-in and anything else you might need that he can’t provide. This is where you meet Annie who checks you in with a smile. She make sure you have everything you need. And last, but not least, there is Muriel. Muriel has been there for several years now and can literally almost work magic. Her attention to detail and willingness to make anything right is A+ and off the charts. I think she must work 24/7! With this dream team of staff, we won’t stay anywhere else, and they have all been there for several years. That says a lot.
This is the third time I’ve stayed at Pendry Chicago for a staycation with my mum. The first time we did it, it was just a fun idea during a year neither of us travelled much. It’s now become a fun tradition for us, and we love spending it at The Pendry. It’s a beautifully warm space with lots to offer! Venteux, the attached restaurant is excellent for dinner. The lounge is gorgeous and relaxing to pause between adventures - especially beside the fireplace. The welcome drink and morning hot drinks are a nice touch as well. From check-in to check-out, Pendry excelled in every way. It’s also incredibly located, a few minutes walk to shops, bars, restaurants. The CTA is right there, unlocking even more options. The only downside of being right on Michigan Avenue is probably the street traffic sounds. There were a few times we could hear sirens from the room (we were on the 17th floor) but it wasn’t constant and we sleep through most of it. The star of it all is the staff. Perry, the Bell Captain, and his team are incredible! He remembered us from our visit (2 and 4 years ago) and gave us all the latest updates of the area, the hotel, and was there to answer lots of our questions. So so friendly and really made our stay special. We’ll be back soon for the next staycation!
Temperature control of the room was terrible. We could not cool the room below 70° with the thermostat. It was so warm that we had to try to open the window, which was almost impossible. To close the window my wife and I had to put our combined weight on it to close it. The bed didn’t even have a fitted sheet. It had a single normal sheet barely covering the mattress, and only a very heavy comforter. So we either had the warmest blanket or nothing at all. The mattress felt cheap and hard. Your hotel has a lot of nice perks, but you should focus on getting the basics right first.
Great location to a great weekend in Chicago. A very historical building with a very cozy and comfortable lobby. The check-in took a while since there were long lines for the holidays. We were able to get a free upgrade, which was delightful. Sadly, we were disappointed that the room’s toilet was backed up, and after calling for fixing, the problem was still not fixed properly. We also dined at the French restaurant Vemteux on the first floor. The eggs Benedict with king crab was delicious. But the French onion soup was tasty but way way way too salty, and the mussels were sadly not very flavorful. So overall, other than a great location, was a bit disappointed in service and food.
We travelled to Chicago to experience Christmastime in the city and celebrate a milestone birthday. This was our second stay at Pendry Chicago; last time we stayed in a corner king room (2112) and this time we stayed in the one bedroom river view corner suite (2212). The suite was essentially the size of two rooms combined - one as a spacious bedroom with sitting table and bench and the other with a sitting table, bench, pull out sofa, and coffee table. The suite spanned the length of one side of the hotel, allowing for views in 3 directions! We stayed 8 nights and wanted to still enjoy some of our Christmas decorations, so you will see some lights, etc. in the photos posted that are our own (to avoid any confusion). It is a beautiful hotel, inside and out. It is a stunning historical building both on the outside and the lobby area by the elevators makes you feel like you are back in time with beautiful preserved designs. The rooms are clean, classy, light and airy, and well designed, with lots of outlets. The showers are comfortable and easy to use, with good water pressure. The toiletries are lightly fragranced and very nice (I don’t like fragrance so I brought my own of everything but tried the hotel’s a couple days before check-out and discovered how nice and light they were and that they didn’t bother me at all). The beds are on the firmer side with crisp linens and down duvets and pillows. You can also ask for foam pillows as well if you prefer. The robes are some of the softest I have felt (and are available for purchase as well). The location is perfect, a block from the river and at the top of the loop! There is a delicious Jasmine - Orange - Green Tea punch in the lobby that you can enjoy during your stay and are able to get spiked at the bar once during your stay. Some people really made our stay extra special and we are so grateful for that! The first was Muriel ~ she made our stay extra special last time and this time! She goes above and beyond to ensure guests know how to make the most of their stay and what the hotel offers so that their needs are taken care of. She is incredibly hard working, thoughtful, and is very knowledgeable about the property and Chicago! She made great suggestions on what buildings to go in and explore. Chris was the bellman who helped us on arrival bring our bags up to our room and oriented us to the property and room. He was very kind, warm, and helpful! After the first day, whenever we ran into Chris in the hotel, he made us feel so welcome and remembered us. He also was very hard working and would go above and beyond to make us feel valued and comfortable. Natalie first welcomed us to the hotel was often on in evenings when we would come back from being out for the day; she was always so warm and friendly, always was able to answer any questions, and ensured we had what we needed. Michael was the bellman who helped us with our bags on departure and he also was so kind and friendly, sharing some laughs and helping us with our things and ensuring we got the right taxi for our needs. My mom and I would often leave and come back together, but one evening my mom came back to the hotel on her own and Dolopo welcomed her back and walked her to the elevators, calling one for her, which was a personal and thoughtful touch! Annie the concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful and provided us with discounts for the ‘fly over Chicago’ experience (highly recommend)! The two main ladies from house-keeping (I am so sorry, I lost the note where I wrote down their names) who cleaned our room (2212) so beautifully during our stay (Dec 13-21) were always SO friendly and kind when we would see them in the hallway - we miss seeing them already! Why I would choose this hotel again: location, style, atmosphere, cleanliness, professionalism, helpfulness, quick elevators, lots of food/drink options on site from a coffee shop to bar to restaurant to rooftop, fridge/microwave/hot water kettle (available upon request, subject to availability), complimentary car service (first come first serve) on weekends within a 2 mile radius of the hotel, windows that open a little should you want that, mattresses/box springs are encased in a protective cover to ensure no nightmare insect hotel situations (I won’t write the word here, but if you care about that, you know what i mean and this hotel you will not have that concern and won’t feel like you need to obsessively check!) Things to be aware of: this hotel can get VERY busy and there can be waits and delays to check in/things delivered to your room, etc. Just keep that in mind if that is something that would dampen your experience. As well, with its prime location and being in the fun hustle and bustle of the city, there is some road noise, understandably; both times we had higher rooms so I can’t speak to how it is on the lower floors but in the 21st and 22nd floor it didn’t hinder sleep. All things considering, if you are looking for a professional team, clean accommodations, lots of history and style, and the perfect (in our opinion) location, Pendry Chicago could certainly be a good option for you! Thanks so much Pendry team! You are a very hard-working group of people!
We recently stayed here for three nights, and also had a photoshoot with a professional photographer in the bar area. The hotel itself is fantastic, great facilities, lovely to look at. The service is great - a special shoutout to Laura S (events coordinator) who helped us organised the photo shoot well within hotel guidelines. Massive appreciation from us both!
