Campanile Hotel - Basildon - East of London

Location was good

I think the rooms could do with modernising. Continental breakfast was stale. Croissants tasted as if they were a couple of days old as did the small cakes.

Location was great for what we needed. Room was clean and comfy ,bathroom was gret.

Maybe the electric plugs could be more convenient. Lighting could improved by checking the bulbs, one of our were not working.

Very basic but fine

Location was good for our needs and whilst basic the food was good. Staff were pleasant.

Property is very tiered rundown looking the inpost and amazon lockers don't help. Reception very scruffy and receptionist while pleasant was scruffy. Room was clean but dated and drap with damaged furniture.

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom ample for our needs. Convenient location.

A little pricey for a budget hotel.

Campanile a has friendly efficient staff. The room is comfortable.

The position of the power point under the desk. I am disabled and was unable to reach it. I didn't notice till late or I would have asked for assistance.

Everything about the hotel was fabulous

It was good to be able to take the dog onto the grass outside the door.

I could hear the people next door, also the smell of cigarette and other smoke from other guests coming into our room.

Price and free parking

The soap dispensers were both empty. The receptionist tried to give me a twin room instead of double.

The full English breakfast

The bathroom had poop on the wall. The shower curtains had boogers on it and the room only had two outlets. The pictures on the website did not show how dirty it was. Damp and gross.

Not a lot, it was bang average There was a fox wandering in the carpark which was cool It felt like a sketchy USA motel where us marshalls would come to arrest felons

The rooms were ridiculously hot, we did get provided with a small fan but it didnt do much The beds were so uncomfortable, i hand on heart didnt sleep 1 minute during the night 2 drunk men, 1 with no top on clearly staying at the hotel probably on the tax payers bill walked up to us when we arrived, asked what we did for work -not ideal when i have a van with me

Not very much, but it was representative of the price.

The room was very gloomy (poor lighting), a bit noisy and warm, but it served a purpose.

Everything. The Council put people up is this so called hotel, which wasn’t mentioned when booking. I had people next door with kids who were constantly shouting. People smoking and setting of fire alarm. Food was basic and not great to be honest. Would definitely not be staying in this place again.

Neighbors are noisy

The room was very small and dark, poorly lid. Old worn carpet on the floor and an unpleasant smell. Horrible curtains and table, a single plug under the table. 3 out of 4 nights could’t sleep because of shouting, some violence next door. Worst hotel stay in my life!

The room was neat and the bed comfortable to sleep in. I never had breakfast there. The location is perfect.

I felt the building looked outdated and the parking area needs updating too. As a single woman I didn't like the fact that I was put in a room at the back of the hotel, where I had to walk up stairs in the open air and then around a corner along a corridor alone to my room. The back rooms of the hotel are concealed and I felt a bit uneasy. They could see that I was a woman on my own and should have put me in a room facing the parking area, which would have felt for me a bit more safer.

The bedroom was ample, the breakfast was fantastic, cooked to order and hot The staff were great and extremely helpful

The overall appearance is a bit shabby and needs some investment such as the paths and the decoration. The location is a bit noisy as is very close to a main road

Pleasant staff. Not expensive. Cleaned daily. I feel the low rating is unfair. You cannot expect the completeness of the biggest chains, but I found pleasant and genuine staff, great location and a very good experience. Overall if there was a premier inn side by side, I'd probably still go with Campanile given that price is a big pro and overall service was very kind.

The room was clean.

The area felt unsafe and unsuitable for a woman travelling alone. Everything was old and weary. No lifts, which is bizarre for a hotel.

The location.

The structure, facilities and the very first staff I met at the reception.

We stayed for 1 night, clean room and bathroom. Tea coffe facilities in the room is good. There are plenty of parking but you need to register your car and its free. I just needed a budget hotel for overnight and its good. This is a budget hotel so dont have 5 star expectations.

No AC but fan in the room. Our room 91 facing the road so noice of vehicles. If you are a light sleeper then will be a problem. There are other rooms looking toward the car park and believe this will be less noisy.

The room smelt really badly of smoke. It clung to all the furniture. It also stuck to our clothes. The cleanliness of the bathroom was poor.

Lack of air, hot and uncomfortable. Breakfast was awful someone should tell the chef the grill needs cleaning, came out black and greasy Beans were the best, it’s the only think we eat. Not going to stay agin rather pay more and enjoy the stay

The location was good because I was only using it for a local job.

The room smelt musky. I thought it was because of the wet carpet by the bathroom door. I spoke to staff, and they sorted that issue out. But the smell remained. I discovered that it was mould in the extractor in the bathroom. Kept the bathroom door shut with the extractor on, and it almost cured it. Could do with a serious clean up. Oh, there is an outside light right outside the window. When it comes on, the room lights up like daylight, and it is on all night.

Well positioned for our visit and the whole team were fantastic during our whole stay 🥰🥰

Contrairement aux avis négatifs qu'on a pu voir nous avons été agréablement surpris par la propreté de la chambre. Elle était bien équipée, propre, confortable. Au niveau du bruit, nos n'avons pas eu ce soucis dû à la route puisque nos dormons avec des bouchons d'oreille mais même au petit matin l'endroit était plutôt calme.

有很多泊車位，也可以泊近在房前，上落行李輪椅很方便。

訂房時要求在同一層地面的，因為有輪椅人士，酒店也答應了，但到來check in時無法做到，我們雙人房要上樓梯到2層。 而且房間的插頭位置在枱下面，以致使用時不方便，要強力移動桌面。

Estava sujo e os quartos eram mesmo muito quentes. Sofri lá dentro. Além disso, não havia fichas para carregar o telemóvel ao pé da cama.

Got kicked out and banned for no reason, dirty baths, most of the rooms doors don't even lock, dirty bed sheets, loud noises 24/7, staff are extremely rude, constant police presence. Got kicked out @ late hours of night and got refused refund on stay and the staff even had the cheek to try and accuse me of tampering with the smoke alarm in my old room when I even had police walk me into my old room with their bodycams on record. So yeah I WOULDN'T recommend staying here ever. Smell of weed everywhere,

Location was good with a usable valcony

Room smelled badly on arrival definitely NOT that fresh linen smell. We need to open doors turn on a fan and spray deodorant

Staff very friendly and helpful. Bedding and bathroom were clean. Bed was comfortable enough for one night and good pillows. Fan had been left in the room which was very necessary as no air con.

Quite shabby and visibly grubby areas of the room. Room was quite cramped especially on one side of the bed. Bits of the underside of the bathroom door were falling out so left bits of foam all over the floor every time it was opened. Towels had marks on them.

The speed of the fan in the room is too low,maybe fan with high speed is advisable,especially with the warm weather,guess they would be able to improve on that,apart from that,the rest are good,and the hotel site is good location

The windows didn't shut properly. The toilet, basin and bath were all cracked. Not enough plug sockets. Very tired and dated. Needs updating.

Leaving it

People openly smoking drugs, alcoholics fighting downstairs. Staff extremely unfriendly and unhelpful the place is more like a halfway house than a hotel. Degenerates everywhere.
