Great location the free shuttle into town at night was a bonus
I wish there was an expresso coffee machine in room and breakfast instant coffee in room and filter for breakfast not. Good enough for room rate
Well kept modern hotel in a lovely setting. Particularly attentive staff. A pleasure to stay for our one night.
Nothing
Good quality room and quiet, with a pleasant view of the cathedral spire and river from our king room with comfortable bed.
They is no dinner, but they do provide a free shuttle service into the city square and back for the opportunity to dine at some rather (in my opinion) low quality pub restaurants.
Easy parking, beautiful location, very helpful staff, lovely building, beautiful room, lovely terrace and garden plus a courtesy bus into the centre

The location for getting to the city and cathedral although not if you have limited mobility
Even though the hotel information states that the restaurant isn’t open in the evening there should be at least a limited bar meal service. After travelling for many miles and hours, I’m sure, myself included, that the last thing one wants to do is to go into the city to find a suitable eating establishment. There is no proper lounge area. The seating arrangements are either in the bar or breakfast room. The bedroom although large with a lovely big bed and wonderful views, was very bare with no character. For the price paid it was very much like a “ budget” hotel room. There were no shelves in bathroom.
Excellent spacious room with view across meadows and the river towards Salisbury Cathedral. About a twenty minute walk to the city centre. No evening meal but a free shuttle service to and from restaurants. Very helpful and friendly staff. And they remembered my special birthday.
Great location!! Within walking distance of the Salisbury Cathedral (and the Magna Carta!) In fact we were lucky enough to get a room with a view of the cathedral (and sweet little sheep grazing by the river) right out of our window. The room was spacious— very welcome from other rooms we’ve stayed at in our travels. And there was a very spacious patio area to enjoy a drink from the bar or just relax and enjoy the views.
Having the shuttle bus from hotel was excellent.
Everything was great. But the terrace overlooking the stream (with swans), the field (with sheep) and the cathedral was amazing.
Location ideal. Views of Salisbury Cathedral and beautiful riverside garden. Lots of parking. Bar prices better than in town. Lovely 20 min walk into town via Cathedral
All good Breakfast was average
Lovely location
Disappointed that not more is made of the bar and terrace especially as there is no dining.
Location was excellent. Quiet room and clean except for windows. Receptionist Anna very good and helpful.
Booked a riverside view room however could only see small section of river but mainly a flat roof (see the photo). Watch room number 32z Windows were filthy. Basin hot tap did not work. When reported to reception told by Victoria should have turned it the other way. Come on!! No meal on Sunday evening. Definitely over priced.
Have stayed here before and the location is perfect for us
A lot of the services they offer stop before the published times…. Can’t get a coffee at the bar after 9pm because they clean the machine, no cocktails either. Last shuttle to town is 9:30 yet they say 10pm.
Great location, good parking and very spacious room. Friendly staff too.
I think they should consider the staff taking guests to their table at breakfast, rather than free for all. We sat at a empty table next to the window, only to be approached by a guest who was getting breakfast that that was their table.....very awkward and easily avoidable.
Fantastic location and the rooms were excellent.
Restaurant was not open however the hotel did offer free rides into town.
The hotel and staff were brilliant
Unfortunately, they do not offer evening meals
Sehr freundliches Personal. Super Lage. Alles gemütlich zu Fuß erreichbar.
Location
No food in the evening
Location and relaxed atmosphere.
Facilities are quite limited but you want to be out and enjoying the area.
Love the back terrace by the river. Enjoyed a couple of evenings with a bottle of wine on the terrace. The front desk staff were very helpful and nice.
The rooms are a bit small, but when there is a beautiful terrace, who goes to their room except to sleep.
Very clean modern rooms
Beautiful
Great location, rooms clean great breakfast.
Sehr freundlich.
Zimmer sehr einfach
Location, environment, staff, room size were all fab!
Only downside were the pillows. They weren't the best and made for quite an uncomfortable sleep.
Staff here are wonderful and are why I’ve rated this property with four stars. However, we were a bit disappointed with our room. I’d booked a Kingsize Riverside Room which on the website described it as ‘Riverside room with king bed. Overlooking our beautiful grounds, the River Nadder and views of Salisbury Cathedral is a fantastic choice for corporate or leisure stays.’ I’d specifically asked for a quiet, upper floor room in my booking notes. We were put in a very dark, basement feeling room which was nothing like the Kingsize Riverside Room images on the website. Instead of a bright large window we had a small window and door which opened onto views of the (not quiet) outside bar, a wall, and extractor fans (see photos). Not quite the special experience we were hoping for. After a long journey I was too tired to ask to change. Perhaps double check via a phone call when you book to ensure you aren’t disappointed as several of the lawn level rooms have this outlook. Yes you can use the chairs outside the door but you’re very near your neighbour and the noise of the extractor fans. The shower was very weak, and I reported problems with water flowing away slowly on my departure. A squeaking toaster machine at breakfast could do with some wd40 to avoid a rather irritating dining experience! At £220+ a night I’d also expect to have water and biscuits replenished by housekeeping. Perhaps I had too high expectations following other reviews, but as someone who travels regularly for work, this hotel at this room rate fell a bit short in comparison with others at a similar level. Staff should however be commended. They are fabulous.
Our room was clean, comfortable and offered good amenities and attentionto detail. Excellent welcome and check out experience. Reception staff are friendly, professional and attentive. The breakfast buffet provided a limited selection, but what was on offer was of excellent quality and tasty.
The welcome and service from breakfast staff was some what lacking. Only filter coffee available at breakfast. I would of happily paid extra for a coffee of my choice. Also, we were never offered any freshly cooked eggs, although it became clear other tables had ordered these.

Great location by the river, close to the centre, 20 mins walk but they offer a free shuttle bus to and from the centre. We had a room with a river view and cathedral view. Nice decor, clean and really lovely friendly staff. They don’t offer dinner but provided a list of places to eat and even highlighted those which provided gluten free and dairy free options which was so helpful. The breakfast was also great and again provided a gluten and a dairy free option when we enquired.
Nothing to dislike!
stayed here with my partner from 22nd to 23rd August. While the hotel itself was great my experience was completely ruined at checkout. The way I was spoken to and treated by the staff was entirely unacceptable. I was made to feel like a criminal over a standard checkout procedure. I expect professional and polite customer service, not disrespect. I am deeply disappointed and would not recommend staying here based on how poorly I was treated.
Amazing property, great location Our bonus view of the cathedral and air conditioning was fab! The riverside garden was beautiful
What a wonderful hotel. Location by the river was superb and we had the bonus of the eclipse in the luxurious garden setting. Shuttle in to town for evening meal is a super bonus. Staff super friendly and the rooms are everything you need.
All staff we were encountered were extremely friendly and helpful, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. This is in a fabulous location close the centre of Salisbury plus has super views of the cathedral. The room was neat and well appointed - we were able to login to our NowTV on the TV in the room and watch the golf! It's a lovely venue for a small wedding but equally great for a visit to Salisbury.
My only issue was that the hanging space in our room wasn't tall enough to hang a knee length dress which I had brought for the wedding that I was attending at the hotel. I had to hang it on the door closer. The cleaners had also missed one or two of the less obvious spaces such as the shelf above the hanging space - my husband put his jumper there and it was very dusty when we took it out.
5 out of 5 . Due to a recommendation from a local lady, I visited the Riverside hotel and I had a well priced , tasty lunch in this hotel as an outside guest . The staff were friendly and welcoming. The attractive hotel has a relaxed comfortable vibe with gorgeous views over the river and Salisbury Cathedral . I really enjoyed my visit and if I come back to Salisbury I would definitely come again . Thank you for a relaxing chilled hour
Super top
Well located hotel close to Salisbury and a short pretty walk. Beds were adequate, super clean. Garden and views of the river and Salisbury cathedral spire were very nice.
Breakfast was a disaster, terrible taste and the cooking was not four star standard. Coffee was really undrinkable. If they changed the chef or learnt to cook would stay again.
Staff, room, view etc
Nothing really.
Really lovely hotel and freindly Staff, even showed me to my room on arrival, and I did not use this and enjoyed a nice walk in to town, but the hotel provide a free shuttle bus in to the town.
I did enjoy my stay, only one thing, as I was serving my breakfast on my plate, it was not till the end i noticed there were no eggs, later finding you needed to order fresh, which is great, but to late for me.
Cannot rate the Riverside Hotel high enough! Jo and her team were brilliant in helping us make our wedding day even more special. Jo, especially made sure everything went smoothly and allowed us to enjoy our day. Beautiful location and the food was out of this world!! If you are thinking of getting married in Salisbury, definitely check out the Riverside Hotel, you won't be disappointed!!
A really great hotel in a fab location within an easy walk to Salisbury Cathedral
We had some problems with hot water but that was soon sorted and the staff were great in dealing with it
Ideal situation, shuttle bus to city centre was useful, views, outside seating and rooms were great. Nora on reception was a multi tasking genius!

Location
Rooms were too warm - even with air on
Charming building but the terrace and gardens were exceptional. Air conditioning was a massive plus as was the evening free shuttle service into the city for dining. The giraffe in the garden was spectacular.
Getting out of the bath could do with a wall handle to help steady but minor thing in an exceptional hotel. Would have liked breakfast included in the price but that’s a personal thing.
Staff very kind and helpful, beautiful place, comfortable room, evening shuttle to town, and great breakfast.
Long walk to town, would have liked shuttle offered a couple of times earlier in the day, maybe 10am and noon. Also, would have liked a small mini-fridge.
The location within walking distance of the city.
Breakfast wasn’t very good.
Schöne Aussicht von der Terasse
Kein Aufzug.
Clean, comfortable, great location
Could have done with hair conditioner in the bathroom
Reasonable size room and a good view over to Salisbury Cathedral. Beds OK
There was no internal phone system. Could not contact reception or housekeeping. This mattered because the hot water failed in the hotel due to a central breakdown. While I accept these things happen we could not contact reception who made no effort to contact us. We were badly kept advised and when I enquired what they would do if the water was not restored the reception staff had no idea. Fortunately it was reinstated The internal lighting in the bedroom was totally inadequate.i require a decent light to read by and there was not one in this room Breakfast was a buffet and adequate. Eggs were overcooked. Could not get a hot coffee in the bar after 9.30 on a Saturday night as the coffee machine was cleaned overnight in the kitchen.the bar was otherwise deserted. There was no restaurant but there were signs up outside offering lunch deals. Nothing was mentioned to us in the hotel
Prachtige locatie, mooie tuin en zeer fraai uitzicht. Netjes en heel Engels!
Twin bedjes zijn erg smal. Saaie kamer. Vochtige kleine badkamer.
Sehr schöne Terrasse mit Blick auf Salisbury
Very nice boutique hotel; character rooms; very friendly staff; good breakfast; plenty of parking; shuttle bus to town but only a 15 minute very nice walk.
Nothing. Although not in the centre if you want that. But shuttle bus was great which runs to and from the main square in the evenings very regularly until 930pm going back to the hotel.
Lovely food, very attentive service and superb value
We enjoyed a very pleasant lunch at Riverside today. The food was fine, but what really made the experience special was the beautiful riverside location and the outstanding staff. They kindly produced items for us that were not on the menu, and all at an exceptionally reasonable price. The hotel was busy, with at least one large lunch group being served, yet this had no impact whatsoever on the friendly, efficient service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily return..
Shuttle Service to town
Terrasse müsste etwas sauber gemacht werden
Lovely small hotel - great staff, very nice place to stay.
We had a wonderful stay at the Riverside Hotel in Salisbury and only wish we’d booked more than one night. The staff went above and beyond throughout our visit — they accommodated an early check-in when we arrived ahead of schedule, and gave us excellent local dining recommendations that made planning our evening effortless. The hotel itself is a quiet, charming manor house with real character. Our room was spacious and spotless, and the back garden is a real highlight — it overlooks a small river with a lovely view of the cathedral spire in the distance. It’s a peaceful spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was very good too, a nice way to start the day before exploring Salisbury. Overall, a genuinely welcoming place to stay with a great location and staff who clearly care about their guests.
The view is beautiful
The staff were excellent ,cheerful and a very pleasant location it is perfect to walk into the city and a free shuttle service from 6pm if you don't fancy the 15 mins walk
nothing
Nice garden view
No elevators!
Absolutely lovely hotel,we stayed for 1 night as we were going to Salisbury races which was nearby, the setting is pretty and all staff we encountered were genuinely friendly and happy to help, the family room was large and perfectly air conditioned, breakfast before we left was also delicious.
Very nice room, staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Location is quite close to the centre of Salisbury.
The breakfast was overall good but would be nice to have more options for those with allergies/intolerances.
Very clean hotel, quiet comfortable. Exceptional location with view across the river and meadows to the spire of the cathedral. Quiet good breakfast.
Rather bland interior.
The Riverside is such a lovely, postcard worthy, looking building that one almost envies the family that must have lived here at one point. Set well back from the road (so no road noise) with ample car parking on crunchy gravel and a mini country house feel as you walk through the arched entrance door. At the back of the building, rooms look out over the river and the meadows beyond, taking in the giraffe model / sculpture in the garden (?!) and our room had a mini patio with chairs and table, although there is a large solid gazebo by the riverside with comfortable furniture for an afternoon tea or evening drink. Our room was large and comfortable but, oddly, had no actual windows, with the only natural light coming in through the single door out to the patio. The lighting had been boosted accordingly and we didn't mind too much but it wouldn't have suited everyone. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Guests are provided with a list of suggestions for eating out in the city (there is no dinner service at the hotel) and a very useful shuttle bus is provided, you just queue up by the front door to catch it in to the city and arrange for pick up to come back, either by negotiation with the driver or by ringing Reception. (Please do remember to let Reception know if you end up walking back so that the driver isn't waiting around). Our car remained in the car park during the entirety of our stay since it is so easy and flat to walk into the city, with the choice of either following the main road in or turning away from the city and picking up a footpath across the water meadows; both easy and pleasant walks., although I can't remember whether I saw street lamps on the water meadow footpath which might influence one's decision of an evening. Breakfast in the morning was served just next to Reception - a modest selection of fruit, cereal, breads and yogurt and then hot plates with, unfortunately, the perennial challenge of keeping buffet style breakfast items hot. Guests can order eggs to be cooked to order in the kitchen and many guests seem to be doing this, but one then has to hope that the timing fits in with resupply of the hot trays. A good cooked breakfast is an excellent way of setting one up for a day of being a tourist and something to look forward to and, to be honest, although our experience fulfilled the first criteria, we didn't feel it was in any way a special experience. But that was the only negative of what was otherwise a very pleasant stay; Salisbury offers much for the visitor and, if staying here, one can partake of it easily on foot from a comfortable base.
Super schönes Zimmer und sehr nettes Personal. Wir würden wieder kommen
Fussläufig zur Stadt und Kathedrale. Ruhig mit ausreichend Parkmöglichkeiten
It is almost 100% BUT 1) the breakfast coffee is awful 2) the bath is dangerous lacking a safety bar. 3) and the bedside lights are only worked from the wall. Great location, great staff but no brandy glasses!
The hotel is in a great location and was perfect for our two day stay to explore the city and attend the horse racing. The room was very comfortable and lovely and quiet. The best staff work here, from the cleaners to the chef to the reception and the bar staff, every single one was friendly and attentive and so the team is a great asset to the hotel. The shuttle to and from the town in the evening was such an unexpected bonus and much appreciated. The lunchtime food is very good and excellent value for money.
Such a small thing, but I would have liked to see more choice of yogurts and berries for fruit at breakfast.
From start to finish our experience was exemplary. Booking in with Alice and then everything we needed or asked for was dealt with brilliantly by Victoria. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooking the gardens, river & view of the cathedral was fabulous & the extra details of flowers, petals & chocolates for our anniversary was a lovely touch. The buffet breakfast was absolutely brilliant & delicious, so much choice and all very fresh and tasty.. although we both need a crash diet now!! The room was fabulously clean & tidy and the huge bed was extremely comfortable. With only a short pleasant walk into the town centre this is also a great location for discovering the town, although we were also offered a shuttle bus to take & pick us up in the evening. All of the staff were brilliant including reception, bar, waiting and the lovely cleaners. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.. 5 stars!! Thank you!
Rooms were very comfortable and had AC which was a big bonus as it was unusually hot. Fabulous view of the cathedral from the back patio and covered seating by the river. Excellent breakfast.
Lovely hotel that backs onto the river.
Nothing
Niets eigenlijk!
