Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Breakfast was replenished throughout the morning. There was more than enough. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We asked for a wine glass and the front desk actually found us one! They were very accommodating.
Room was a tad small - two queen beds, but we were there just to sleep and move on, so it was fine.
Location of the hotel
Breakfast items weren't refilled, multiple people were waiting for refills and/or gave up after waiting for more than 20min
We liked the bathroom, and the location was great.
The size of this family room (in the basement) was definitely lower than the announced 32 m2. We were supposed to have a lounge area, which we are still looking for. Very difficult to to just walk around the beds.
Frühstück mit wenig Auswahl und lieblos präsentiert
Sehr altes Hotel - Renovierung nötig
Parking was a block away, not fun when traveling late with 2 young children at night. Bathroom was not as clean as it should have been.
In a good spot for restaurants and the lake front
Very little parking on site. We were traveling in a Ford F150 that was loaded with camping/ fishing gear. We had to park two blocks away in a public lot. The rooms were small and the window air conditioner hung over the bed. They seemed understaffed at the reception desk.
The proximity to the waterfront and downtown is ideal. There are no others hotels this close to the waterfront that I am aware of. This would make the hotel a prime location. The hotel has a beautiful vintage feel, the rooms have been updated and beds were comfortable. The solid masonry of the building kept the street noise out. The check in clerk was helpful finding us dinner accommodations. And the clerk at check was super friendly and courteous.
The Parking is behind a bar and the first thing you see as you pull into the parking lot are overflowing dumpsters and seagulls on the vehicles. The rear entrance to the hotel is dirty and shows signs of deterioration. While checking in, the cleaning staff interrupted our check to complain to the front desk clerk about the location of the room she had to clean. Then when we got to our room, another cleaning personal was blasting explicit music. And later he began cursing at the speaker when he asked “Alexa” to change his song. It made us feel very uncomfortable. It’s a shame, this hotel has such potential to be great. With some TLC in the parking lot and rear entrance as well some professional training for some of the staff.
La ubicación y el personal
Las habitaciónes que nos tocaron fueron en el subsuelo y no son muy atractivas y con poca luz, ademas el desayuno era bastante pobre y no havia sitio para sentarse
The room was adequate. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Newly renovated bathroom very nice. I think generally fine given that it is a very old building. Staff very friendly.
No complaints.
Nice and clean, near to beach and shopping street,
Nothing specific
Check in went smoothly and we got upgraded to a room with a bigger bed for free, which was appreciated. We went for a nice walk down to the waterfront, which was close by.
Unfortunately we didn't have a view of the lake from our room, but the room itself was comfy and clean.
Nice
The property is reasonably close to the Casino ( 15 min by car). There is a restaurant next door.
Location has limited on site parking, additional parking is a block away. There is no drop off area for luggage without interfering in parking for businesses next door. The facility is older with aging bathrooms. The breakfast was minimal.
The staff are helpful and friendly. They were happy to accommodate me with a room change and an early check-in. The rooms are bright, clean and conveniently designed. Helpful to have a fridge.
Initially given a very dark basement room facing the parking lot. Had a very sharp metal bar sticking out of the base of the bed - cut my shin! Ouch! The in-room fridges are in cupboards that seriously overheat...when I opened it, it was like an oven. Clearly a fire hazard! Really need to look at providing a less plastic-packaged breakfast; keep the water dispenser in working order and the tea bag selection refilled regularly.
Great hotel. Very comfy beds!! Parking can be a bit of a problem. Stayed at this hotel to go to Casino Rama. Just get an Uber!
There’s not very many parking spots! We got lucky and got a spot. Advice is to get there a ok bit before your check in. Also fyi….you have to go outside to get to the restaurant. Note the restaurant is not owned by the hotel.
location excellent
Really friendly staff. Great location by the water but also downtown. The room was small but had everything we needed. Good car park on site too. The breakfast was included in what was an excellent price. The breakfast itself was more than sufficient. Overall really pleased with our stay.
As mentioned the room was small but did what it needed. We got the room by the ice machine and door to the car park so it was noisy but I guess someone has to have that room.
Great location, on-site parking
No elevator
Good
The location ..proximity to the waterfront and downtown shopping was excellent
Slight smell in the room. Musty Breakfast was disappointing..no eggs.. no bacon
Looks nice
The parking is awful. We had to park a block away. At least have a parking spot just to register.
Rear entrance from parking lot was not nice. Parking was tight. Room was small. Some linens did not appear fresh. Alarm clock went off at 4:30, even though I did not use it. A/C heat system was loud and did not seem to respond to the controls - I had to unplug it. Breakfast was marginal.
Staff were nice and close to shops and restaurants.
Small room, garbage piled up in and around the dumpster in the parking lot. We’re told by the staff at the Social restaurant that the area is unsafe and not to leave anything in your car. Limited parking spots.
Close to restaurants and shopping
location
no swim pool or gym
We had an overflow parking lot at the Wolf Café in a dark , unlit neighborhood. Our car was damaged , somebody wanted to break in our car. At the driver’s side there were deep scratches on the door. We reported it at the hotel bug we are still waiting for a reply
Nice and clean. Lovely and accomidating staff.
Pricey for a room next to the street when the sound proofing is quite bad.
Great location close to the waterfront and downtown.
We were on the lower level and room was a bit cramped but not bad.
Perfect location, very good bed. We had bicycles and they accommodated our bicycles without any problem.
We had a basement room, it's a bit claustrophobic, but we knew that when we booked it.
Very kind staff, clean hotel, close to yhe waterfront
Location
Damp basement room Ran out of breakfast food
Breakfast could have been better, other then that it was great
Excellent location! The room was great, very comfortable beds, nice bathroom and good size. The breakfast was good with some hot items. Good value and thanks for the upgrade Bookings.com
Nothing
the hotel is in a great downtown location and in close proximity to the waterfront park and ferry.
The rooms are so small, there were 3 of us in one room and nowhere to put suitcases…one chair at a desk that took up most of the little bit of free space. we ended up having to go back down to the desk when we got home late at night to get our keys redone daily. We could not park onsite and had to park a block away and the second day parked there we scanned the QR code on the ticket the hotel gave to us to open the automated gate and it didn’t work so had to park the car and go back to the hotel to get another ticket. the handicap door openers don’t work, there was no breakfast eggs or sausages this morning as the order was not in. we stayed for for 4 nights at a cost of around 1200.00 with taxes and fees so very dissatisfied with what we spent to be there! This is a tough call that I have never done before but I will not return and I do not recommend this hotel.
Location. Excellent staff especially Darcelle.
Breakfast Eating area- too small
Basic amenities were good.
Water pressure was very low. Towels could have been bigger and more of them.
Do not go to this hotel - they lie and are incompetent from a 'manage the reservation' perspective. They overcharge, then they lie about it. In fact, they simply are a mismanaged hotel with zero values. Pathetic. Rooms are mediocre at best. Not to be trusted. Choose another orillia hotel. I stay in a lot of hotels and have never written a review, but this place is so bad, its worth writing to help you avoid it...I wish there was a zero (vs 1) rating. Avoid this place
Incompetence and dishonesty at the front desk ruined our stay. The manager, Sahil, verbally agreed to match our Expedia rate but then overcharged us anyway. At check in, he claimed he would call Expedia to help resolve the issue. He then walked into the office behind the front desk, only to disappear out the back door and never return. We were left waiting with no resolution. This level of unprofessionalism and outright deception is unacceptable. Guests deserve honesty and accountability, especially from management. I would not recommend staying here.
Absolutely the most disappointing hotel I've ever been to.
From the greeting to the " basement room" he stated was all he had, we requested to see if 1st and he said " since Covid " we don't show rooms. And he stated he was all alone in the building. but did put a " I'll be right back sign and showed us the dingy basement room, musty and with a small window with outside bars facing a brick wall. We declined and he said I have another I can show but it was disappointing to say the least!!! No refunds, no contact # for further discussion and NO RESPONSE FROM BOOKING TO DISCUSS. DISAPPOINTING to read previous reviews on booking as I depend on those to choose my stay. Parking is about 2 streets away as the 15 spots by hotel are full, we were told after we circled the hotel 3 times searching. D I S A P P O I N T E D !!!!!!!!
The hotel location. Darcelle at reception was amazing, very accomodating and nice.
There was no hot food for breakfast when we were there on June 28.
Darcell at the front desk was so friendly and helpful making our stay wonderful😃
Beautiful hotel in the beautiful place in my lovely Orilia
Nothing. It’s so good
Room was excellent. Lots of choices for breakfast. Clean hotel.
We did not like having to take the stairs from the parking lot.
We did not spend the night it was dark dirty smelly muggy.
It was right down town. Easy to get around.
The parking was not on site.
Location was great, staff were very friendly and it was a pet friendly place.
The room was incredibly small ..the bathroom window as it rained and makeup bag got wet
Location
Room we were in was very small
Love everything about this cute boutique Hotel The walk in shower was wonderful
Toilet was too low for anyone over 5 ft or didn't practice daily squats This is my only complaint
Excelente localização, quarto amplo e confortável, ótimo banheiro
Café da manhã básico
Comfortable bed, hotel location
Room very small and dated Breakfast was average at best
Ubicacion
Que limpien más seguido
Location is great just walking distance to the lake , close to restaurants.
Room had small window and it was covered with overgrown bushes from outside .
Love the location to multiple restaurants and the water. It's a historical hotel that has been fully remodeled to a modern look. The beds and pillows are super comfortable.
Breakfast is limited to the usual continental yucky packaged stuff. We have a coffee and take a piece of fruit and wait for lunch.
The omelettes and sausages were surprisingly delicious! However, a good deal more options need to be provided to earn a good rating.
The Wi-Fi signal was absolutely non-existent.
We were welcomed by a friendly staff member at reception. Our room on the 3rd floor was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was omlette and sausages with a variety of bagels, muffins bread for toast, tea, coffee, fruit juice and a waffle maker. The hotel is situated downtown a short walk to the waterfront and the main street.
Great location. Room was really nice. Staff very friendly.
Ac didn’t cool enough Breakfast food was cold
Very clean and location
The location.
Close to downtown shops and restaurants. Clean and comfortable. Free breakfasts a good option to have. Parking turned out to be ok even with construction fence limiting so of the options.
Small vanity with minimal countertop No clothes storage areas except for a few hangers. (No drawers).
Loved the location. Unfortunately it rained all weekend so were unable to walk and enjoy waterfront activities or walk the Main Street. To me it is a beautiful boutique hotel in the middle of the city. It was so clean and fresh from the moment you walked through the door and the rooms were superb. The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful.
We stayed for two nights and the breakfast did not have a lot of variety. I am diabetic so need protein in the morning. Both mornings were tired looking omelettes and sausages. There was only white bread offered for toast. Saying that, the breakfast was more substantial than most hotels.
Location
We were told we an upgraded room. However, the wallpaper was peeling. There was no cover on entry door light. The toilet would run randomly throughout the night which was disturbing. We purposely stayed because of the breakfast offer. However, the coffee machine was out of order and the hot breakfast was stone cold.
Was close to the waterfront, people were friendly. I had my dog with me so I stayed in the basement in a small room
Parking is shitty, I had to use the secondary parking which was up the street and the first left, was raining so I had to wait until the rain wasn't so bad and then walked back to the hotel with my dog. Then when I was going to check out. I had to walk to get my truck and park it close to the hotel. Fortunately some parking in back of the hotel freed up so I was able to get my stuff back in the truck without hauling it all the way up the road, continental breakfast was as crappy as a continental breakfast usually is, cups are too small. The coffee machine in a room stopped working. There was no microwave for me to warm something up. The fridge was barely cold. People above me were noisy for a little while. I would not return to this hotel.
Good location, close to waterfront, beach and restaurants. Place was clean and modern. Staff was friendly.
Breakfast was limited, no hot food, no staff to refill cutlery or cups. Limited parking on site. There is extra parking elsewhere but is inconvenient when traveling with luggages.
The location
My safety was compromised on the first night (April 20th- 22nd) by giving access to my room to a total stranger who happened to be another customer. I was terrified as I was alone in my room and thought I had complete privacy while someone opened my door. I was lucky enough to run to the door before they could gain full access to me and my room. I was traumatised and fearful of sleeping that night and thereafter. Nobody came to my room to address this very massive safety breach. The next day, I happened to be in the lobby and the Manager on duty casually mentioned that he heard about what happened and apologized. An apology is NOT a resolution to what had occurred. I took the liberty of sending their corporate office an email and NO ONE has responded till date. No compensation was offered. I will NEVER recommend this place.
The breakfast was great! Omelets, breakfast sausages, waffles and big banana nut muffins. Location was very good. Walked to everything
Rooms were small. Not as clean as expected. Hair and dust in the door jam of the bathroom. Walls needed a good clean. I expected a bit more sparkle.
Staff was nice and it was very clean and peaceful
Nice and comfortable stay with a nice view on the lake. The rooms are ok and equipped with everything you may need. The staff has been kind and helpful, and the breakfast served in the lounge offers both sweet and savoury options. Very good overall for a short stay.
The soap and shampoo containers in the shower were empty.
The hotel was within walking distance to restaurants and the main street. We originally had booked a basement king room, but we were upgraded to the main floor without asking which was a very nice surprise. Unfortunately the room had a musty smell. I asked if we could change rooms and our request was accommodated without any problem. We weren't able to get a king bed but that wasn't an issue. The room was small but cozy and we actually preferred it to the original larger room. The rooms come with a Keurig and complimentary coffees. You can easily get milk from the breakfast bar just off the lobby. The staff are very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The parking lot is small but there is free offsite parking if needed, which we did.
The bath towels are on the small size. Not a standard size. They did the job but a bigger towel would be nice. Having decaf coffee at breakfast would be a nice touch for those of us who can't have caffeine.
location, cleanliness, staff, beds were great. nice ambiance in lobby area.
there was roof repair gioing on so noisy at times. complimentary breakfast was not great. there was a wall fireplace in our room but it didnt work!!
We had a wonderful evening and would stay here again if staying overnight in Orillia
Downtown
Very small room we were in the basement very noisy
clean and good location. it did the job.... needed a place to stay.
breakfast was all on disposable plates and was mediocre at best... room was very small and the window was small and the person who greeted us was a bit impatient with me
It was a beautiful property, very unique and close to stores and food
the only issues we had was the parking, we had to park in a parking lot with drug addicts touching the stuff in the back of our truck, and the side of our bed had something sticking out from it that seemed to be broken, my husband hit his leg off of it a few times not realizing it was there.
Excellent location.
Traffic very noisy. Our room was ground level right by the street.
Loved the beds the walk in shower, friendly staff, pillows ,the room was very comfortable
Nothing
It was super comfortable, clean, shower was great and the staff friendly
It was excellent
Location, walking distance to many things Comfort
Ustensils; eating waffles with wood ustensils is not practical.
Location!! Newly refurbished room!
There must have been dust on the heating system ! When we arrived we turned on the fan and heater and there was a burning smell for about 10 minutes before it seemed to stop.
We have stayed at the hotel for the last few years when we go to the Roots North Music Festival. The rooms are on the small side but very clean and the beds are very comfortable. Lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance. Also the water front. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast isn't fancy .it hits the spot . Good value for the money .
linens and towels are clean and comfy
insufficient parking spaces, might have to park somewhere else
every thing as exspected
breakfast had issues but this was an exeption from past visits
Comfortable bed, clean room, well appointed, free parking, excellent location in the heart of old Orillia. Friendly staff.
Tiny window in the 3rd floor room i started in. Room was small
Location to downtown, waterfront, restaurants
Nothing to dislike
The location, the room and staff..
Being on the second floor and having to navigate stairs.
The Champlain Waterfront Hotel is a short walk from the lakeside in Orillia. Most rooms have no lake view. Our room was underground with a ceiling height window on to the car park. Surprisingly there was no car noise overnight and we slept fine. Car park is small with tight parking spaces. There is street parking nearby and another car park a few blocks away with passes obtained from reception. The room was next to the self-service laundry which was beneficial for us on our long road trip. Inexpensive efficient laundry machines. Reception was efficient and courteous. Breakfast was "continental", which here meant cold and minimal. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Decor is dark and dated. It is a short walk to the lake and lakeside park. There are shops and restaurants within an easy short walk. Reasonable accommodation for the price and good location.
The room was clean & comfortable. We also found the afternoon manager to be very helpful regarding changing our room & making restaurant suggestions.
Parking was a bit tight.
The hotel is completely charming, the room was very comfortable, quiet, and very clean. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was a lovely stay.
The area was close to some restaurants. The room was quiet.
If I am to go back, I would book a king-size bed. We had a queen-size bed. The room was small but comfortable. The parking lot was also small. The window was also small.,
