Nice comfortable room Good quality breakfast
Generally, the hotel is lovely. The Spa is great, although at the time of booking I was not aware of the extra charge if not booking directly with the hotel. The restaurant is attractive, with nice covered, outside seating.
The food was hit and miss on the two occasions we ate there. The first meal, I had the chicken wings to start, the sirloin followed by the sharing dessert board. All was very good. The second evening, I had the croquettes to start and, following having a taste of the brisket the previous evening from my sister’s meal, I opted for it for the second meal. Unfortunately, instead of the soft, moist meat I expected, I received a very dry, cold lump of beef which was disappointing. The biggest issue was the cleanliness of the room we had, room 124. The sheets on the bed and the towels were clean, however the bin in the bathroom wasn’t emptied prior to us checking in. There was also tissue on the bathroom floor, below the sink unit. There was also food waste left under the bedside table and crumbs on top as well as on the desk. The room was re-serviced when these issues were brought to the receptions attention, however this was not very thorough as the food waste below the bedside table remained, as did the tissue on the bathroom floor. The hospitality tray area felt sticky and tacky, even after the additional service. There were coffee stains down the front of the unit below this area. The blue glasses in the fridge had black mould in them. The top of the milk jug was tacky, and the paper top stuck to it. The cups did not look/feel very clean. There were lots of very small moths in the room, many of which had been killed by previous occupants and their remains left on the walls or on the skirting boards. The carpet was very worn below the hospitality tray area and beside the bedside table, possibly moth eaten? The room lacked any robes, although the price leaflet was left. Despite requesting robes on two occasions, these were still not provided which made making use of the spa awkward. As we were staying two nights, we requested via the QR code for the room to be serviced, unfortunately this was not done.

Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Lovely place, clean and comfortable
Place was clean and good location to many kids stuff if you're driving.
Expensive for what I paid. Had to pay extra for pool, and breakfast, despite the almost 200 quid a night stay for a slightly bigger room because I have two kid's.
Easy to. Book last minute
Room service didn’t answer phone so couldn’t get food or oat milk delivered for the room. Shower curtain sticking to us during shower, really got in the way and made the shower annoying! Odd plug socket locations not very practical
room was very comfortable and spacious. restaurant and bar were very pleasant with plenty of space and a good menu. the spa facility was excellent, well staffed and well run.
my in bath shower was a hassle. The shower head was fixed so I couldn't position it at a convenient angle. The curtain sat too far into the bath, making the space cramped. But that is my only negative feedback.
Great hotel. We stayed for a night after visiting Paulton's park and found it absolutely perfect for what we needed. We loved the the pool and spa, our room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was delicious with lots of choice, convenient amenities (e.g water/milk dispensers on floor, EV charging) and other little touches that made it special such as the staff leaving a birthday treat for my daughter in the room. Would happily stay again.
We had a meal at the pub on site. Good atmosphere but the food was very average.
Hotel is clean, well presented. Gym facilities are good, pool is great (especially having a kid free time)
Check in is after 3pm, we arrived at 4:30pm and the room was still not ready, had to wait an extra hour until after 5pm to get the room. Entrance needs cleaning due to pigeon waste from the nesting birds, guests need moving from the entrance as walking through clouds of 2nd Hand Smoke is not delightful Room is not worth £380+ for a 2 night stay, and breakfast is not work £20 Bathroom facilities are in need of a serious upgrade, shower is good however you cannot alter the shower head and jet is directed to stomach and groin area; you have to crouch down to get the top half of your body wet, it is ideal for someone that is 5'4".
The staff were lovely
Silver fish Bugs in the bath, unclean shower and just over all unclean
Did not eat breakfast but the dinners were very good. There was meant to be a milk station but we could not find it but the bar staff were great so it did not matter.
Having to stand in a bath for a shower and battle with the safety handle that sticks out of the wall where you are showering. There was nowhere sensible to stand the shower gel and shampoo.
The spa
Dirty room and tv didn’t work
Smooth experience. Friendly staff on reception.
Some staff at the restaurant were very inexperienced The pool and spa should be included for hotel guests
Pool and spa were nice
Very disappointed that the kids could not use the spa after 6pm. It did not make this clear on the website and the kids had been travelling and looking forward to a swim all day. No tables to put bags in the room
Great facilities, lovely spa & garden.
The mattress wasn’t very confortable
My hubby and I booked for a relaxing getaway, and that was what we had. The atmosphere was very chilled out, the spa was lovely, and the food was brilliant.
Wish the adult and kids pools were separated, but there was plenty of allocate time for adults only.
Location - nice touches in room for child
Had to pay £30 for 2 swims - the pool water looked dirty. Room dated but clean.
Very clean , great location,
Had to wait an hour after check in time before gaining access to the room . No access to spa facilities due to booking with booking.com. A guest is a guest !!
Near to family in Portsmouth
No sugar for my cup of tea
High quality facility. Well maintained. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Recommended.
Spa facilities were great and breakfast options were really lovely. We ordered poached eggs which were perfect and even tried the ice cream bar which the kids loved at the Parsons pub! Tennis courts included which was a nice addition plus a movie night in the bean bag cinema made this hotel one to remember
Spa cost indicates that you can use for 48 hours for £30 but in fact you can only book 1 hour per day. The dressing gowns were not in the room on arrival but I requested them and they were brought over which was lovely.
Food was amazing for breakfast We have already recommended the hotel to other family members
Nothing
The hotel inside is very grandiose and lovely. The lady that served us on arrival plus the ladies working the restaurant for dinner on Monday were the nicest of the staff we came across. The room was clean and lovely. Breakfast was delicious. Treatments at the spa were great.
The rest of the staff we encountered weren’t rude, and I certainly don’t think they needed to be smiling all the time, but we did feel like we weren’t really acknowledged. For example, on our first morning at breakfast, no one asked for our room number when we arrived, so we didn’t realise that we had ended up sitting at a table that hadn’t been prepared. When we asked for some cutlery, we were made to feel as though we were the problem. It was a little similar in the spa, where even checking us in to use the facilities seemed like a chore. The funny thing is that we rarely ask for anything, so it was particularly noticeable when simply providing the basic service seemed to be an issue. One other thing I would mention, especially with the recent heatwaves, is that it would be lovely if a fan could be provided, as the room doesn’t appear to have air conditioning. It does get quite warm, even with the window open. And if fans and aircon are actually available, we didn’t know that, partly because by that point we were a little reluctant to ask, as we were already feeling like we were a bit of a nuisance for just being a guest.
Lovely clean hotel, nice room with four poster bed and excellent air con
Other guests, bar prices extortionate - £5.20 for a cup of tea! Screaming kids everywhere even at breakfast time.
Location and the spa facilities were amazing
The room I had was nothing like the picture though of a signature room
We enjoyed our night here, the room was great, nice and big with a super comfortable bed and good aircon. The staff were friendly too and we loved the outdoor area for drinks. There was a good vibe despite it being a busy night.
Only complaints would be some confusion around breakfast in the spa. The staff seemed surprised we wanted to eat in the spa area despite the tables there all having menus with breakfast available on them. We were told we could have breakfast but it would take a while - fine - but then when they came to take our order none of the breakfast items on the spa menu were even on their system. The staff member's response also came across like we were the ones making an unreasonable request. It didn't ruin a good night or anything, but was an annoyance. We were also almost charged for extra items we didn't order at dinner, and found the information around spa times poorly written and confusing. The email we received before mentioned adult times for the spa, but it read like these were the only times adults could be there rather than the times when children could not. It was poorly phrased and we nearly didn't use the spa at all because we didn't think we could use it in certain times.
Everything. It is a lovely relaxing place. Nothing is too much for the staff. Great facilities
So lovely to stay here its our 3 visite clean tidy everyone do freindly
Only thing dissapointed was not able to use the pool unless we purchased a day pass we stayed for 2 nights and we had bookec treatments in the spa
I had to change rooms because I booked them separately in doing so I left a pair of linen trousers in the wardrobe . I asked at reception the same day they got in touch with housekeeping and they were not in the lost property all I can think is whoever cleaned the room didn’t do a thorough job as they were not found so did they not check the wardrobe when they cleaned the room
Starting with a professional welcome, clean lobby and room was ready. The facilities were great and being well used by the other guests and locals. Plenty of outdoor space and shade. Variety of dining options including the on-site pub. All the staff were very helpful from housekeeping to reception and the gym and bar and restaurant. Room spacious and clean.
Very little.
L’emplacement et la qualité des installations.

The tv was broken had led problems
Location, music in the meadows,
Dinner was very poor, bathroom not very clean, shower head needs a bloody good clean
Fantastic hotel with lovely grounds and facilities. I was particularly impressed by how they treat young guests, my 7 yeast old loved the goodie bag in the room, especially his own mini robe and slippers! Spa and pool are top notch, beautifully decorated and spotless.
It was a really nice! The staff where very helpful and happy
Nothing
Air con in room a rarity these days and needed this summer.
The sofa bed for our kids was awful and the cover not big enough for two of them( housekeeping sorted the cover tbf) The extra charge to use the pool was ridiculous IMO. I get its a spa hotel buttl the pool aldo felt very anti kids and i think the extra charge to have pool usage limited was pretty unfair when the pool was dominated by adults doing lengths in the windows when they allowed kids in there. Not worth the money.
Quiet location with easy access to M27. Very good facilities. Good size rooms. Large, secure free car park. Helpful staff.
My bedroom was a connecting room to an adjacent room so could hear the very loud guests late at night. Very noisy air vent in bathroom, TV remote did not work. Apart from those details all very good.
Lunch was delicious. Club sandwiches, coronation chicken salad and the Reuben sandwich - good sized portions and very tasty. Shirley who served us was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Gave us some tips about optimising our hotel booking and booking with them directly. We all had a great time.
Went for My graduation and the hotel was lovely situated near everything, LIDL shopping centre was across the road,KFC near by. I loved the milk and water dispensers, tennis court and the garden Meadows bar. Will visit again for the spa amenities 😅
Lovely stay 😃
Location good and nice communal areas
Room wasn’t clean and was put in a disabled access room which felt more the like a hospital room (did not request disabled access) and which had an ancient and very slow flowing electric shower. The walls were extremely thin so I had to listen to the very noisy family next door until late into the evening.
Very appreciative with the way the room was set up to cater the children. Complimentary rainbow cookie and milk, with children’s gowns, slippers and a toiletry bag. The spa was lovely and well maintained. The garden was especially nice.
Suggest more shade in the garden area, especially during the hot summer months. The bathroom in the room was nice, though dated. Needs modernising. Small moths were present in the bathroom.
Lots of activities and space to lay down under the sun, play badminton or tennis, swim, sauna, steam bath, there’s a bar in the hotel and outside as well, coz we visited in summer.
Relaxing atmosphere.
Lovely touch for children having goody bags on their bed with a cookie and drink - they were so excited! Everywhere wand clean and staff were very friendly- would come back
My biggest gripe is that I had to pay £30 for less than an hour swim as it was busy. I appreciate it was busy, as school holidays. Booked through booking. com and was not made aware that I would have to pay £30 as did not book direct with them. What really annoyed me was that I was not told I would only get an hour allocated time, even when I enquired prior to visit about the swimming as it is important to my grandchildren to swim. I could have made an informed choice if given this information. I was absolutely fuming upon my arrival when given this information and will be contacting the hotel directly to vent my frustration.
Staff were amazing from moment arrived at reception, to the spa and restaurant staff through to housekeeping. Real credit to the hotel. Facilities were great as always.
Only minor issues. Mattress in our room was probably due a refresh as could tell where people had sat on the bed. Bit of paint coming off above bath but nothing major
Booked a overnight stay for myself husband and grandaughter this was a birthday treat for her , we have been before but her first time , we honestly had a fantastic stay , ballon’s and little birthday treats in our room , she loved it , her sofa bed was comfortable and she was impressed at her dressing gown , pool was lovely as was our sleep and all followed up with a great breakfast , we ate our evening meal in the Parsons Collar again that was lovely fresh and tasty , a nice meal at a decent price . All the staff from check in to leaving are lovely , highly recommend the Solent Spa , this time I had no treatments but in the past iv had a lovely relaxing facial . Nothing to grumble about , thanks guys we will be back
Comfortable bed and the room was cool as air con. Near the motorway. Quiet room. Appreciated the hair straightener ceramic plate.
Bathroom needed updating. Expensive room without breakfast included.
Staff were lovely checking in and out. room was really nice, amazing bed! air conditioning was a treat.
Nothing.
Had the most wonderful evening celebrating an 80th birthday with family. The service was brilliant by lilia. The food was excellent and in all we could not fault the service of the hotel and staff. A special thank you to Rio who helped organise the event for us.
We had a wonderful stay and dinner here for our anniversary. We were served by Lilya in the restaurant, she was lovely and so attentive. The food was perfect and service was top notch.
Fabulous lunch, great service and I even came away with some fantastic book recommendations! Highly recommended – thank you Shirley!
Came in for lunch and the food and service we received from Louise & Ellie was fantastic. I would highly recommend the club sandwich washed down with a cold beer.
Beautiful rooms with character, absolutely spotless and well equipped. We have been here for 4 days, and each morning, we have had the pleasure of a beautifully cooked breakfast in the dining room. The ingredients were excellent quality, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I feel the need to mention Sam, who was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond for us and other diners. He really is a credit to the restaurant and hotel. We will definitely be back.
I had a lovely relaxing day with my daughter. I would definitely revisit and recommend to family and friends.
Here now, hotel nice but terrible room 208. Other people’s hair left in sink and bed literally backs onto the lift shaft so EVERTIME someone uses the main lift you will hear the noise of the lift shaft and doors opening and closing all night long…no chance of a good night sleep. Summary, i get other people hairs in the sink would just be an oversight by the housekeeping team but paying £150 a night for a few hours sleep between people using the lift is terrible.
My lovely friend brought me here for my 50th Birthday treat. Staff were great, afternoon tea was fabulous. Treatment in the spa was 5 star. Girls night in package was amazing! Food was superb, only criticism, and it’s tiny, is that there was so much for one person I felt like it was wasted, however, Daniele who brought us up the food was great and gave us take away boxes for any leftovers.
The food menus was disgusting, when we received it it was even worse. For this hotel to get a better score or even us to stay there again it would have to improve dramatically as far food and amenities. That has certainly dropped the scoring of this hotel !!!
Faye made my Nan’s birthday very special by giving her a very nicely decorated birthday plate. We loved our time there.
I loved all of it. I needed somewhere I could relax and take time out and this place exceeded all my expectations. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for them. All in all a lovely place to relax. I decided to go for 6 nights and I am glad I did because there is such a lot there. I loved the various seating areas, where you can spend time on your own or with friends
There wasn't anything I didn't like
The outside area
Pay for pool access No aircon Dirty room
We have been here many times and everything about this hotel is very good. All the rooms are different. We've never been disappointed, always clean and we really nice , we like being able to get fresh milk from the machine and ice cold water, that's a real good touch.. The breakfast is lovely and there is a great selection, hot or cold..
The main meals can be a bit expensive .
The staff we encountered made the stay such a pleasure
The food was good in the restaurant apart from the thin over salted peppercorn sauce and why are they still serving food on wooden choppingboards so outdated and not hygienic
I've just had the most amazing, relaxing facial treatment from Michaela in the spa. My skin is glowing and I feel so revived. Such a lovely therapist with a good touch too. Thank you, Michaela and I look forward to coming back. 😊
Great gym and spa facilities with lovely locally sourced food Thank you to Ellie for looking after me at dinner this evening
Lovely spa day spent with friends at the Solent Spa, coming away feeling totally chilled. My spa treatment with Hannah W was blissful,, the scalp and shoulder massage was so relaxing. The day also included complimentary coffee, smoothies and buttery flapjack, which were delicious. Plenty of sun loungers on the lawn available, sun or shade. Definitely recommend and can’t wait to return.
We now always pop in here for a coffee rather than anywhere else in Whiteley. Lovely clean and comfortable surroundings and good coffee with a little treat on the side. Our favourite server is Fay. She always remembers our order, which is very impressive considering how many people she must serve each day. She is friendly and polite and nothing is too much trouble. Good service makes such a difference to the whole experience - even if just having a drink 😊
So many very good things about Solent, were unfortunately undermined by one serious flaw. Obviously, any ‘tired’, dated rooms - especially bathrooms - cannot be instantly addressed, and it is acknowledged that refurbishment might be planned. However, the existence of faulty toilet fittings is inexcusable. Having been in two different rooms over our two-night stay, the bathrooms in both were disappointing. Neither toilet flushes worked properly; and, in the second room, the toilet flush was hardly fit for purpose. Therefore, it is suggested that a professional plumbing review is immediately conducted to address such serious issues. These are significant concerns, but it can be acknowledged that they contrast with other, extremely positive, aspects of Solent. Restaurant staff are excellent, providing great service, and quality food. The leisure facilities are similarly impressive, while our parking arrangement was faultless. Cleanliness is another commendable characteristic of the hotel, with public areas especially welcoming and comfortable. Overall, the cruise deal we enjoyed (with the exception of the bathroom issue highlighted) is highly recommended, with the caveat of advice to confirm satisfaction with one’s room on arrival. If management commits to the suggested important repairs, then Solent will enjoy deserved status as one of the area’s top venues for a safe, enjoyable, and very relaxing experience.
We recently stayed at the Solent hotel and spa and it was excellent. Our whole stay was organised by the resort manager Jeremy, he went above and beyond to ensure our stay was brilliant from start to finish. We stayed for dinner and breakfast in the morning and both were fantastic. The facilities in the spa are gorgeous - we cannot recommend this hotel enough.
The restaurant food was good, but a little thought could have made it excellent, it was a bit “pub grub” style and not freshly made stuff, which was a pity as I’m sure the staff were up to providing that bit more, given the opportunity.

Review by Andy L, used to travel consistently pre Covid and a past top 3 UK reviewer with trip advisor. Lovely evening dinner at FYR restaurant with friends. Looked after by Sasha our waitress tonight. Variety of mains chosen, I would recommend the steaks but to be honest everyone was happy with their choices. One of those warm evenings so sat outside under the canopies. Super service - thanks Sasha.
The food was amazing and the waitress extremely helpful and very friendly - no needs were left unmet and I was offered alternative menu ideas as hadn’t been well and didn’t have the greatest appetite - thank you Daniele for making this a positive experience for us.
Room was spacious, spa was incredible
Had a spa and afternoon tea booked and was left for an hour in the restaurant ignored whilst 4 members of staff stood chatting. I asked at 30 minutes if I could have a cup of tea and then another 30 minutes passed before food was bought out. I am still awaiting a call back to discuss with someone and it has been two weeks. Very disappointing customer service.
Excellent breakfast and regularly fresh food topped up
Pool and gym facilities very good but sitting area too small could do with outside area being made bigger
The location always convenient and served its purpose but doubt will stay again! After 20yrs of staying at least 1-2 a year the service is appauling , no loyalty and fog you off every time with those awful ground floor rooms with tatty wood furnishings , AC never works, can't open windows, depresssing rooms definitely need refurbishment
As usual I arrive after I had booked months ago and I get given a dark old room down the back on ground floor and it was a heatwave ! No Ac it was broken , plus unable to open the French doors as opened onto parked cars! I refused to stay in there. Why not change those useless doors to windows ! Plus refurbish the room it's been the same for 20yrs. I will add that the young man I think called jack was very patient with me and found me a room on 2nd floor which had AC thou can't say it's really powerful enough plus room again had some random old tatty desk amongst an attempt to update the room! Whoever designs the rooms need to go on a training course as no eye to detail or flair for hotel rooms.
Pool
Food
Attentive staff and thoughtful additions. In particular the free ice cream and the real milk in the rooms with a great selection of teas and coffee.
I can honestly say nothing!
The little touches make a huge difference. Pillow spray, robes, fresh milk etc.
It’s a lovely hotel, with some investment into the rooms and decor this would be a fab hotel.
Great hotel, the rooms are a little tired now, I have heard it’s due for a refurb, ideal to visit New Forest, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight, the restaurant is great the food is amazing, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly Overall excellent. The hotel has a large swimming pool, Sauna, Steam Room and Spa where they offer a wide range of treatments.
Great spa experience with Grace today. Lovely treatment in a lovely relaxed room. She was very good and would go again
I have stayed here loads for work. This time I booked through booking.com as work system was down. To be told on arrival even though price qas same on solent system I have to pay extra for spa and gym one main reason why I stay and I dont understand why different systems you get different access and facilities. Also I qas given room by door lots of banging. So I do wonder if its because I booked using this app. If you going to treat customers different dont use booking .com. very disappointing
Fresh milk and water. Lovely shower and very clean alqays parking and speedy check ons.
I have just had a great shoulder and head massage with Izzy. She was a delight to talk to and her massage was great, with good pressure as I had requested. Will be back ....thanks Izzy
I had a quick meet up with a business colleague who kindly bought us coffee. A word of warning, the car park has plenty of space but I was charged £6.00 parking for just over an hour. If one spends £10.00 in the hotel parking isn't chargeable . It really isn't made that clear either in the car park or within the hotel, and isn't an issue if you're a resident or having food. But many people must use it as a meeting point as I did. I am still unclear whether it is a flat £6.00 charge or increases by the hour.
Not a lot it was an okay hotel, not the best or the worst I have ever stayed in but certainly not worth the money. It portrays the idea that it s a spa hotel, which it has, but it not much better than a budget hotel
The room is grey and tired and not up to the latest standards, I could hear the toilet flushing next door and the kids in the familly room. I would not use it again. The window looks to the side of another block or rooms.
Location and good amenities, comfortable bedding.
Room was visibly dirty. Service was terrible.
Lovely massage from Hannah W, very professional and friendly. Highly recommend.
Stayed here on there cruise package, sasha in the restraunt and Andrew on reception really stood out with fantastic customer service, friendly and helpful. All round nice stay, clean room and lovely vibe.
Massage with Mariana absolutely amazing. Feel so relaxed now.
Great hotel and spa. Food was delicious all staff were friendly. Fay provided an excellent service looking after us on our last evening meal. Above and beyond. Thank you Fay.
We liked everything about this hotel, lots of nice touches. 3 adults and a 3yr old, in a family room and a king size. We would definitely stay again.
I had a facial with Michaela - I felt so relaxed and refreshed- I am planning to book another facial in with her 😊5 stars for Michaela.
The rooms are spacious and good air con. Love the spa facilities, lovely swimming pool wotg plenty of sunbeds . Gorgeous outdoor meadow bar in the summer . Delicious buffet breakfast
Nothing. Loved it all
We had a wonderful afternoon at the spa - Emily was amazing at the spa and so friendly! Then we enjoyed a lovely meal at the bar and grill. Sasha served us and was fantastic and so helpful. It was the perfect afternoon during the heatwave - thank you so much! ☺️
We had a very relaxed day in the spa and a really nice dinner in the FYR restaurant. Fay was our waitress, she was so friendly and helpful. Thank you
Easy and convenient when flying in from Australia. You always know what you are going to get which is convenient consistency.
The spar use through booking.com was not free as it is with a direct booking yet the same price! When your booking multiple accommodations in advance you don’t have time to read all the small print
Excellent visit for treatments , all staff friendly and Michaela is fantastic at massage and facials , very welcoming and overall the best massage I’ve had - will definitely be back xx
Came for a lunch meeting. Sat outside in nice surroundings, good food and great service. Shirley was very attentive and helpful
