The location is amazing, So close to town you can just walk anywhere, The bath was amazing and so relaxing. Would definitely stay again!

No lift for the upper levels however that's a minor thing in the scheme of things.

An amazing historic venue warm and cozy in a winter wonderland. The dining hall with a open fire and cocktail bar was a real bonus. the gardens that surround the venue were also amazing.

The staff was lovely and helpful, the food was great, very good room.

We had a west side room and it got so hot in the night. We had to completely turn off the heating and open the windows to sleep.

Location is about the best you’ll get in Hanmer. The place is overall lovely and clean, and the staff are friendly.

The sound proofing is a little lacking between rooms, so it’s easy to hear people walking down the hallways which are a bit creaky. The room was also a bit hot and difficult to cool, even near the end of winter. Beds could be a little more comfortable.

Special place isolated and wild. Great to see old building restored and kept alive. Grounds special. Simply and comfy room. Good food service, average wine, great staff.

Ensure house staff do not move furniture into awkward places for the visitor.

It was a bit dated but clean, everything we needed. Enjoyed dinner meal at restaurant but was large area so a bit cold.

Sehr nettes, schönes, älteres Hotel mit Charme. Sehr gute Lage im Zentrum, genügend Parkplätze in der Nähe, aber nicht vor der Tür. Poollandschaft und viele Restaurants in der Nähe. Frühstück sehr gut. Schöner Hotelgarten.

Personal beim Frühstück etwas überfordert. Wartezeiten, bis Speisen beim Buffet nachgeteilt wurden - dafür aber frisch.

TV generic channels, no movies etc, tea station, room layout, lighting. Stains on bed base and sofa. Decor tatty. No cleaning cloths available.

The lighting in the room was terrible - 3 lamps and no overhead light. This is extremely poor for New Zealand.

No where to wash dishes. The cleaner washes them in the bathroom. The meals are over priced and not worth the money . furniture needs updating in the Hotel lounge .

The room was a bit tired, with a cracked sink in the bathroom and broken blind. The garden room was located separately to the main hotel which we didnt realise. There was no lighting on the path from the main hotel to the accomodation which was poor at night and unsafe.

Was convenient and loved the old worldliness of it. A bit of history. And it was warm. The corridors were warm and welcoming as were the rooms.

Our room was above the kitchen and we got food smells on the Sunday morning drifting up to the room. Not a major problem

Good room size, warm in winter, heater electric blanket. Large bathroom with heater, plenty of hot water, excellent water pressure. Fluffy large towels. Very quiet pretty outlook

Better lighting in bedroom.

We stayed in a greenhouse unit. It was comfortable and warm. We liked that it was away from other units.

We paid extra for breakfast which was a buffet style and continental. There were only 4 hot items. Scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and sausages. This was very disappointing. The eggs and bacon were dry and the sausages were tasteless. The hash browns were nice as they had just been cooked when we arrived. They had warm pastries which were delicious. We did not try the continental breakfast.

The lighting outside the building is very bright ,i would suggest that the hotel invest in blackout curtains for the rooms as normal curtains do no block the light from the very bright halogen lights just outside the rooms

Hotel is very classic and beautiful by design (let down by the bad lighting), with well kept and beautiful garden grounds. Great location, good supply of car parking available. Staff were nice. Rooms were clean and comfy with good amenities.

The lighting in the hotel is truly a let down and ruins the classic architecture and furnishings of the hotel. It's a white LED light, that does not suit the hotel interior design at all and brings the quality of the hotel from an 8/10 potential to around a 4/10. We didn't have the breakfast buffet but did go and have a look to decide whether we wanted to, and would say that the selection looked quite lacking. No lifts but the staff on the first night helped us carry our luggage up the stairs which was nice.

Only one chair, blinking light on phone, no lift. Unsuitable for old people with heavy luggage. Room not cleaned completely, empty beer can left in bathroom on heater.

The roast meal was not a roast which was disappointing and no Kumara when told there was kumara

Great location, nice hotel just lacking a couple of things.

No one was on the desk when we wanted to check in so drove around for half an hour before trying again. Ran out of hot water while showering. When we had checked out but child needed to go toilet the lights wernt going in public ones so had to drive to public toilets on street instead.

Lovely sheets and towels...I guess the laundry service, not the hotel. Put some books in the actual library and open up spaces as lounge areas or if rooms that get no sun. If guests are staying at fetal nights as i did.... give them a nicer room with a view and sunshine.

Clean the bathroom blinds. Dirty. Toilet right behind the door and shower door both placed poorly.... the shower door needs to be designed differently so you can access the shower handle!

Location was amazing, staff were fantastic and friendly.

The dining room was a bit cold considering it was mid winter was the only negative.

We were very pleased with the in house restaurant evening hours accomadating us after driving delays due to the heavy rain events that day. Also the staff assistance that evening and the lovely kitchen staff accomadating us both that evening and the next morning at breakfast

Perhaps a need for a large family unit where we could stay together but with separate bedrooms and bathrooms

Bathroom was outdated and old. Only Freeview TV, hallways are old and need new carpeting. Heating was an electric heater...no heatpump or even wall heater! Fridge opened wrong way too.

I stayed as a lone female on a grab one deal for a bit of mid week rest and recoup after a difficult time. It was a lovely stay. I have stayed previously and noticed the big step up in service, rooms and restaurant from the prior owners. The room had been heated for arrival,, towels large and fluffy, staff helpful and friendly and professional. The brekkie was delicious and the bed enormous and super comfy. They also accommodated my request to arrive early and get my hot pools tickets before I checked in, so I got to spend extra time there too. Overall a big thumbs up and will be back soon.
