Everything is 5 min away from the hotel

Good breakfast but lack of organisation.

Upgraded to a suite but 16 steep stairs to get from bedroom to bathroom. Also the sink was blocked so could not use and also did not use the shower because not clean dead spider in tray cobweb in bedroom window.

The location is brilliant

Dinner time - the restaurant staff have forgotten my tea & needs to be reminded, when it came, it's a wrong one. The room was dusty, with the cupboard having the skirting board out. The bathroom shows sign of wear and fear - handles chipped. The coffee making amenities in the room looks like have not been replenished before our arrival

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was big enough for us and it had everything we needed. The location was perfect and the view from our room was very pretty.

The crib that we requested didn't really have a mattress, so our baby had to sleep with us. I understand that lifts need to go through maintenance, but it's not ideal when you have a baby and your room is on the 3rd floor.

Seaview, wonderful. Plenty of hot water, large king size bed very comfortable and bed linen spotlessly clean. Good steam iron in room.

Room on 4th floor and lift out of order. Strong angel of damp in room on entry. No gluten free sausages available for coeliac, very little bacon, eggs, fruit or cheese/meats available when we arrived for breakfast well within the advised breakfast time. Long wait to be booked in for breakfast while member of staff nearby on computer...

Perfect location, great staff..gentleman on the reception was very accommodating for my disabled wife who cant walk far, we originally was on the forth floor but as the lift was broken he helped and moved us to a lower floor

The lift was not working and also the room was not properly cleaned. Also it was a lot of banging doors in the morning which was very annoying.

Our room was good. The location was excellent. The free parking in the parking lot was very convenient. Water pressure and temperature was good.

The elevator/lift was not working for all of the 3 days we were there.

Had to pay to park, lift, out of order last day, breakfast expensive and not open for long. Misleading for pool and spa facilities. They were in sister hotels but they were good there. 4th bed in room was a chair, not great for a 13 year old being 6 foot.

A lot of added charges, for parking, for baby cot (not advised in advance this would cost), for a fridge (didn't say rooms did not have a fridge and for 4* it was expected), for breakfast. Lift broke twice when we were there and halls etc felt very aged. Hotel room was expensive even without the added extras and annoyingly price dropped to 40% the cost once the free cancellation time was over

Location was excellent. We went to see a show at the theatre which was perfect just a walk away.

Get a lift installed we stayed in one of your suites which was at the top too many stairs to get to it.

Being on the fourth floor with no lift working

The hotel is in a great location.... In my opinion, it's tired and in need of a complete overhaul. Carpets are not in-keeping with their attempts to freshen up some of the interior with contemporary wallpaper.

A receptionist greeted me and guided me through a straightforward check-in. I was then told I needed to pay another £14 per night for parking, which he claimed was clear on the booking site, but it wasn't, and I couldn't find any notes about it anywhere. So parking, which it should be, is not free! I had booked a non-smoking room with a sea view. As I made my way to the room, the hotel smelled of stale smoke. When I got to my room, there was a smoke aroma the kind you get from old clubs when smoking was allowed, probably, still in the carpets, evidently very old. I complained, asked the receptionist to come and listen to my complaint, on himself entering the room, he apologised, saying as a smoker, he couldn't smell anything. Another room wasn't offered, I think this was probably the same throughout the hotel and that's why. The room was clean, bedding clean, etc. On exiting on my last day, the one single small lift, having had problems all weekend, was broken, so I had to try and get from the 4th floor down to the basement with heavy cases. This was slightly difficult for me considering the meandering nature of tight hallways and poor sign, exit notices, but I am reasonably fit. Anyone else, would struggle, reception, staff members, not very helpful to even hold doors, watching me struggle to my frustration. The pictures on their site make it look quite contemporary and vibrant, beware, it's not and smells bad.. Coupled with being slapped with parking charges, not an enjoyable stay here.

Staff were lovely

The lifts were broken twice and we were on the third floor and my boyfriend had a hip problem. Also the hotel doors are so noisy when they close so we got woken up a lot

Most of the staff were excellent. Pasha is an absolute gem and was doing everything everywhere to make everyone's stay better. Guido was very warm, welcoming and friendly. Breakfast staff were very polite and efficient and happy to accommodate their guests in a caring way which was really nice to see. Great location, a short walk to the pier, beach, gardens, town centre.

The building is showing its age. The room we stayed in had noticeable bowing in the floor. It felt like walking uphill in some parts. The floor was also creaky which made it difficult to tiptoe silently around a sleeping baby. The mini-fridge in the room was little more than a ventilated box and didn't keep anything cold. We asked if there were any with a freezer section and one of the guys at reception said they don't have any. We asked Pasha the next day and she sorted it out for us. The lift was out of service for parts of our stay, meaning we had to carry the baby and pram up and down the stairs. When staff were nearby they always offered to help. (thanks again Pasha) Luckily we were on the first floor, but unluckily our sea-view was obstructed by the roof of the hotel entrance. I'd recommend a higher floor (assuming you're ok taking the stairs) There were also extra charges: Parking was extra unless you booked directly. Baby Cot was also extra

The lift not working

The Luxury suite was wonderful. The location was amazing. Next to the Bournemouth Pier, the gardens and 8 minutes walk to the city centre. The staff was very nice to us. When we did not like the room that we had initially booked they put us in the Luxury Suite. The breakfast options were not spectacular but satisfactory.

I would only recommend the Luxury Suite here. The other room I had initially booked which was a sea facing double bed room, I did not like it. It was too small and looked very dated. The hotel on the whole looks dated and old but the Luxury Suite was extremely nice.

Staff were extremely helpful and considerate. Restaurant staff were amazing, whether it was fir breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner. Location of the hotel was really good and literally 2 minutes walk from the beach.

Bathroom facilities were poor with leaking shower screen and leaking basin trap. Water pressure was extremely low throughout the day. Seal around the main window was non-existent which meant rainwater came into the team and wet my bags which were placed by the window.

I love the room. The size is cozy but comfortable. The facilities are well functional.

The lift was out of order at the time of the visit.

Condition should reflect the price. Little more than a travelodge. Assistant manager could not even really be bothered to speak to us with any engagement. Staff in the restaurant were the nicest ever though.

Location good. Breakfast good. Staff lovely. Room was very spacious, but no drawers.

Hand rail in bath was rusty and chipped, looked like it had been painted over. Bath was chipped and bath taps did not look clean. Toilet roll holder was rusty and dirty. I did take photos. Round table by the window was unstable.

Staff very polite. Room was large and clean. Air conditioning worked well.

We stayed in a family room with 3 children. The 3rd child's bed was advertised/described as a bed where we booked online but was in fact a futon/sofa bed. The extractor fan in the bathroom was incredibly noisy so we had to turn it off.

The staff are friendly and accommodating - thanks in particular to Pacha during the mornings as well as Emyr for mornings and evenings.

The location is fabulous being just across from the beach and the sea view was great. We had requested a walk in shower and when got into room we had bath with shower over so I mentioned this and without a problem we were given a room with walk in shower which was excellent service. The staff at breakfast were great, being very polite and Kiera was exceptionally friendly and made a point of coming up to us whilst we were waiting for taxi on last day to wish us a good journey home - she is a credit to your hotel.

The bar service. We were surprised for a 4 star hotel that it was not constantly manned but instead 2 cameras were behind the bar and staff monitored the bar for people waiting from reception. They clearly didn’t monitor it very well, as often people were waiting to be served and without knowing where the staff were, we witnessed several people just leave. I actually had to go to reception and ask if anyone was serving and I timed how long one couple waited whilst we were sitting in the bar enjoying a drink and they waited 3 minutes which I don’t believe is good service for a 4 star hotel. Also the lady who served a Pimms had to be told what fruit to put in which is not acceptable for a hotel of your calibre . Her attitude was not right either as she tried to make excuses saying she was not a bar tender but bar staff. Also the hotel needs a bit of loving care with some decorating needed as a few areas were showing signs of wear making them look shabby.

Extreem kleine en gedateerde kamer. Ruimte tussen voeteinde en muur (om aan de linkerkant van het bed te komen) was ronduit slecht omdat er een TV op schouderhoogte hing op 10 cm voor de muur (30 cm doorloop ruimte maximaal). Badkamer erg klein en vervallen.

Great position opposite BIC. Close to bus stops. Walking distance to gardens and seafront excellent. Breakfast was lovely plenty of choice. Kerry morning waitress deserves a special mention for being the kindest most patient and helpful young lady. A credit to the hotel.

Felt very rushed at dinner . One particular waiter made us feel as if we were in "Macdonalds"!! Not something you expect in a four star hotel. Breakfast was lovely although all self service. I expected table service for tea and coffee in a four star hotel. More serving staff needed and trained to slow down with serving customers. It's not a race. Housekeeping was abysmal. Patchy. I had to go to reception several times for toilet rolls a bath towel as they had collected mine and not replaced it. Plug for kettle behind large immovable chest of drawers. Ended up having it on my bedside table !! Not ideal. Then having to walk repeatedly across room to get milk tea bags etc. I requested a ground floor room as my companion is disabled kettle plug location not sited correctly in view of this. Hotel were aware of situation beforehand as I emailed them to explain.

The standards, cleanliness, the deco in the room, spacious room, good shower, good value for money, safe for my family, great location, car park, staff are friendly and helpful. We had a great time.

A luggage stand,instead we had to open them on the floor or the bed. Besides that, everything was excellent. The prices for 2027 have doubled. So, not so happy about that.

A/C in the room gave off a buzzing sound every few minutes, so couldn't get to sleep. Sounded like an alarm. Turn it off and the room was too hot. Nightmare.

The location is brilliant. The sea view from our room was great. Comfortable bed in large room with big television. The lift was repaired during our stay which made the room easier to get to. Staff were generally friendly however there were a few that seemed miserable. The reception team were all good.

The floorboards really need dealing with as we could hear movement from above at all times. At one point it sounded like children jumping up and down which I class as a fault of the parents rather than the hotel. Shower was pretty poor with quite a bit of limescale. General cleanliness is pretty good apart from a few things at height. Lots of marks near curtains which the housekeeping team probably couldn’t reach. Bed was clean but under the mattress protector was lots of hairs :( A barman didn’t know what “Southern Comfort” was :) Dinner menu changed nightly and didn’t really accommodate children so we didn’t use it. There is a separate bar menu available though. Breakfast was good if you wanted a hot selection but not much choice for a continental style. Some yogurts were out of date.

Location, view, room condition, food and staff

Lift was out of service but they informed me after booking confirmation. So there was nothing we can do. However it wasn’t a big deal.

Unfortunately, I was given a different room from the one I booked. The room I booked and fully paid for through Booking.com was shown as having air conditioning and a TV, whereas this room only had a fan. There were also spider webs in the corners of the walls. The room number was 600, and unlike the other room numbers, which were displayed above the doors, this number was written on the side of the door in a different way. I’m not sure, but this may even have been a room normally used by the hotel staff. When I paid extra for breakfast in the morning, the staff member asked for my room number. He had a list with all the room numbers on it, but he manually wrote “600” at the very top of the list. Since I was only staying for one night and had things to do outside, I didn’t want to spend time dealing with the issue.

Hotel was great all round apart from the sofa bed I had to sleep in, its was terribly uncomfortable and very uneven and I really struggled to sleep. Being disabled with severe back problems, it wasnt great. The rest was great.

The only positive thing about this property is location.

Rooms are very dirty and lift was broken which made our 2 days very very difficult with 2 small children.

The staff & location were great. The first room we were given was very small & quite tired looking. It had only one frosted glass window 😕 But when I asked to move we were given a much nicer room.

The Beackon.

Location was brilliant, few steps away for the beach. Offered us complementary free car parking during our stay as their lift was not working (our room was on second floor, so we didn't struggle much to take our luggage to the room but there is help on offer if required).

Would've have appreciated a later/longer breakfast time on weekends, but that's just a personal preference.

Great location, rooms were clean and comfortable. Housekeepers did a great job and we had everything we needed. Staff at breakfast were friendly and the food was good. There wasn’t a huge amount of choice at breakfast but no complaints.

The lift was out of order and it was very difficult to get 3 children including a baby up 3 flights of stairs multiple times a day. Luggage took a long time to get up and downstairs as we had to do quite a few trips.

Lack of evelator, I know it is temporary... but we arrived at 11 PM and did not have someone to help us up, neither down... but thia will be sortes in sone time probably The extra ben in the family room, which was a coach... was not good, not bad, but for sure not ok... of that is a family room, better put a permanent bed there... Windows were either super old or not clean, on the outside, which is sad, having in mind the view

It’s a little bit old looking but very good value for money

The location is brilliant - right in the heart of the pier, with the town easily accessible too.

For the four days I was there, the lift wasn’t working, which was quite inconvenient. There was also a noticeable drain smell coming from the HVAC system. The room was okay-ish. I expected it to be slightly bigger, so I can’t imagine how small their "compact" rooms must be!

The food was excellent breakfast/dinner. The staff were excellent. Especially one member Hunter. Love this hotel stayed many times.

I’ve been coming to the Hermitage with my family for several years now, and it has become a much-loved annual holiday for us. Every visit has been truly special, and we have loved our time here each and every year. The stay is always exceptional, and the staff are incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive. I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Hermitage for their wonderful hospitality and for making every visit so memorable. We always look forward to coming back

Only issue was the lift was out of service this time round, however the staff helped us with the luggage so very thank full.

I love the location of the hotel with its conveniance being near the beach. The breakfast was wonderful. The hotel staff were really friendly and professional and very helpful irrespective of the problems e.g. lift out of order, issues with my hotel room plumbing etc.

I was on the fourth floor and the lift was out of order for the entire stay. Ian over 70 years of age and found it very difficult. I know we were ore advised if the issue, but U thought the hotel management could have offered some level of discount / credit/ free drink etc to demonstrate their apology for the inconvenience that I was subjected to

Great location, the staff was great and food was good in a half board booking. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

For the rate we paid the room had horrible view and the style were below expectation feeling too tired and old. Also the lift was broken and the rooms are very basic.

The hotel was fantastic and great value for money! Staff are so friendly, it was really clean and the location is perfect, 2 min walk to the beach! Nothing to complain about

The staff were absolutely fantastic. Super helpful and organised. The breakfast was perfect - good range of options but not overwhelmingly so. They also accommodated for dairy allergies by providing alternatives. The hotel is right by the beach. It really felt like we were abroad!

The car park was small - if I had to make an improvement on our stay, it would be to have a bigger car park as I don't know where we would have parked close by enough if there was no space. We're a family of 5 with small children so it was convenient that we found a space in the car park.

The hermitage hotel experience has been above our expectations, the staff are all so friendly and happy to help accommodate where possible, we was given a ground floor room during the lift closure to help with our toddler and baby as going up stairs was challenging so we appreciated the support to be on ground floor. Electric car charging available on site. The breakfast was 10/10, fresh, sausages are meaty fresh and delicious, delicious omelette cooked to order, everything is topped up frequently and if I needed something topping up, the staff were quick to top up and there wasn’t any delays getting our cooked food. nice selection of yogurts , fruit and pastries, it does the job to be fair what more could one ask for. Location is perfect and easy walk to the sea front beach. Nice bar and outside area for drinks, nice refreshing ciders. Nice traditional hotel takes me back to my seaside trips as a child. Couldn’t have asked for more, great experience, would stay again for sure.

Parking was difficult "oh yes our carpark is full, go across the road to the BIC" no information from staff about how much that might cost or how to get there. In the morning the car park was clogged with cars parked outside of actual spaces.

How close it was to the seafront and restaurants and bars.

The room was very dated. Hairs in the bath, light in the hallway stayed on all night which the light came through the bottom of the door, creaky floor boards.

The hotel's website says that parking is available but fails to indicate that there are very few hotel parking spaces. We paid £270 for 1 night in a small room and a small double bed. Included in the price was a very average, limited choice buffet breakfast and a far from restaurant standard evening meal. There was only one vegetarian option for the main choice. Although the room was clean, the hotel had a tired and somewhat grubby feel, with chipped paintwork everywhere. The carpets looked decades old. Also, the only lift available was out of order - incredibly difficult for elderly or infirm guests, having to walk up to four flights of stairs!
