Good location and big comfortable bed and spacious bathroom.

The decor or lack of is probably trying to be trendy but in reality is really tacky and depressing. Polyfilla marks left on the wall for example. Some of the flooring outside the room I staying in (208) was so bouncy it was like a trampoline. The exposed pipework and electrical ducts meant there was noise and flashing lights going off all night which was super irritating.

the view was not great but expected in such an industrial setup some of the appliances in the room didnt work eg: hairdryer and steamer tv remote was hard to use the choice of toiletries is questionable - who wants to shower with a parsley or kale flavoured product? surely i dont want to smell like a walking salad

The modern reception area, food & drinks were excellent. They had some great upgrades deals you could arrange direct with The Alan after booking. A good amount of plug sockets in the room. My room had a window that opened, which is quite rare. It was a comfy bed & my standard double room was spacious.

One of the lifts to all upper floors where the rooms were was broken, the other lift was very slow. We often had to queue to get in. Both room keys didn't work at various times so again we queued for the lift back to reception. The rooms themselves were adequate and only had basic facilities. The room decor was very tired.

The WhatsApp “text service” doesn’t work, I requested additional toilet roll, tea and coffee as stayed two nights. Asked at 10am & had to chase again at 9pm that evening. One pack of biscuits between 2 guests and the worst toilet paper ever, I would just expect more for almost £400 (for 2 nights) Air con leaked in the night, was dripping onto the floor so had to use the bin to capture the leak as it was 4am & didn’t expect a resolution at that time. Tv only had 2 working channels, however I did raise this and they advised it might be a loose connection which I then sorted myself. Fridge wasn’t cleaned out as had previous guests items in there For the price I just expected more

Good value deal. Easy to get to main areas of interest by walking. I didn’t use public transport but there seemed to be some links nearby. Room was a big size. Large bed. Didn’t have any external noise - I was on floor 5. Wooden (rather than plastic) key card entry. Building felt secure. Quick check in process. Luggage storage on check out if needed.

It ran on the cooler side in the room, I found. Shower controls were on the outside of the shower, sort of hidden by the shower curtain and as someone who is very short sighted when not wearing their glasses this took me longer than it should have to work out/locate/operate. Carpet in my room had a couple patches that looked like stains.

Large beds and nice overall decor. Steamer provided in room which wasn't much use, but upon request and iron and ironing board were provided. Staff were pleasant on check-in.

Beds not very comfy, woke up with a very sore neck. Bathroom layout is very cramped and awkward, you couldn't get to the sink or the shower with the door open and had to shimmy around [not ideal for more than 1 person staying]. We were on the 1st floor unfortunately so the room was very dark and got almost no natural light, would request a higher floor if possible next time.

The rooms look great but the practicalities/logistics if the rooms not very well thought out. I had a couple of other minor hitches but the hotel dealt with them so all good.

Staff, make my stay at The ALAN... Though LOVE The ALAN, as a Hotel, & have my favorite room, but NOT telling you which..??? Maria, has been my muli meeter & greeter, on my many stays, for check ins, lovely, kind young lady. Kai, Jamie, Seren, Precious, Robin, Yasmin, James & Jess Nothing is too much trouble for them. Into the evening, night time hours, the staff are SO kindly towards me, Jorge, John, Alex, Arthur, Tracey. As a older traveller, they ALL steer me in right direction, where to go, in Fabulous Manchester...whatever I ask, nothing too much trouble for the ALANERS....! Staff get on, work... SO, VERY WELL TOGETHER ALWAYS.....make stay, VERY enjoyable, at my go to Manchester hotel. Michael, (football chap), SO lovely to talk to, in his less hectic moments..... Tracey, Jorge, John, Alex, Arthur & Jamie were there for me, for friendy chats, as Solo traveller, on my late night returns from going out in Manchester, The Welcome back Team... Location and value were great

While the public areas are well maintained both the corridors and rooms could use some attention. Scratched paint and furniture starting to fall apart leased the experience. There was also a disconcerting stain on the chaise longue made the mind race with images of previous guests.

Гель для душа был сильно разбавлен водой Уборка отеля посредственная , потому что не понятно как в ванне мог оказаться большой дохлый жук которого не могли убрать при уборке

The staff were absolutely wonderful. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I enjoyed having a little chat with them whenever I came in or went out. The overall design of the hotel and rooms were beautiful. My room was very spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for everything. The internet connection was excellent. Even though my room was on the ground floor towards the back, the Wi-Fi worked perfectly throughout my stay. The heating and ventilation also worked very well. I had informed the hotel that I would be arriving late for check-in, and when I arrived, I received a very warm welcome. The check-in process was quick and hassle-free. The room had everything I could need: an iron and ironing board, hairdryer, tea, coffee, and even hot chocolate. The complimentary cookies were also a lovely touch and delicious. :) I didn't get to try the breakfast as it wasn't included in my package. However, from what I saw during my morning departures, it looked like a very extensive breakfast with plenty of options. The location is another major advantage. Being right in the city centre makes it easy to get around. The tram is only a 1–2 minute walk away, and the main shopping street is around 5–10 minutes away. Manchester Art Gallery is also just across the road, and I would definitely recommend visiting. Check-out was just as smooth. You can also leave your luggage at the hotel free of charge, which is very convenient if you have time to explore the city before your flight. I would absolutely stay here again and would happily choose this hotel every time I visit Manchester. Thank you so much for everything! :)

Personally, I prefer firmer mattresses, so the bed was perhaps a little softer than I would normally choose. However, it was still very comfortable, and this is obviously a matter of personal preference.

The convenience to everything and the car park. The staff was amazing and attentive to all our needs.

The windows do not have sheers, only curtains and the room faced an office building. Not very private unless the curtains were completely closed making the room dark and requiring many lights on in the room even during the day.

Mention, I must, the kitchen staff, behind the scenes, unsung hero's of The ALAN. Spoke to a few of them, but not ALL of them, (Breakfast is really good....!) Chefs, Alex, Arthur, kitchen staff Maxwell, Pascal, lovely chap from Nigeria. El ruido. Justo debajo de mi ventana estaban los contenedores y cada vez que vaciaban el vidrio me despertaban. Las primeras noches un par de veces cada noche. Un día incluso me despertó el olor a basura. Muy desagradable.

Loved the brutalist style decor, fittings and furniture, and the fresh linen on the comfortable bed. Well kept beer in the bar and good fresh breakfast without the ‘everything you could ever think of’ overwhelm. Interesting art under the kitchen counter. Loved this. Lovely staff who seemed happy in their work.

Spacious and stylish rooms.

The room was brilliant. It was our wedding day so I had my groomsmen come to he room in the morning to help me get ready, and it was perfect. Super stylish and perfect for what we needed. The breakfast was really amazing too with super friendly staff, everyone we dealt with was great

We had contacted prior to arrival that it was our wedding stay, I think reception didn't know this for some reason so quickly went to sort out our room, and told us when we come back from our event they would change the room which was very nicely dealt with after the miscommunication. Breakfast was great, but the music played during it was a little intense for first thing in the morning. It was our wedding morning and could have done with something calm but it was intense electro. Our large bed didn't seem to have a sheet that fit over it's entity so we were sleeping on quite an exposed mattress.

The room was beautiful, lots of space. Breakfast choice was great, I'm not one for the typical fry so it was great getting to choose poached eggs for breakfast. Never had to wait for a lift either, big bonus.Thank you for helping to celebrate my birthday, really appreciate it ❤️ great facilities in the room. I'd definitely go back!

Inside the room, there was a constant clicking noise, which seemed to be coming from the ceiling - maybe the air con. I'm unsure, fine for me but others may have an issue. Couldn't cast my phone to tv, other room numbers were coming up, except mine 😢

Breakfast was delicious and fresh, hotel was clean and stylish, staff were absolutly the making of this hotel. Attentive, polite, engaging, interested, doing their job with the right balance of when to complete a task and when to ask a question without being an interruption. The atmosphere was fabulous and the staff facilitated that.

Cool industrial vibe. We travelled the night after our registry wedding and they decorated the room with towel swans, petals and Prosecco. They also threw in 2 complimentary cocktails!

Perfect location. Hotel was clean and tidy. Our rooms were super comfortable. Love the decor of the whole hotel. We didn't have breakfast during our stay, so cant comment about that. Staff were fabulous

Wonderful experience. The reception people were brilliant, professional and yet very friendly and welcoming. We had a nice chat with both the bar tender and other people at the bar which is open til midnight. The room was beautiful, stylish and clean. The bed was super comfy. The building and the main hall have stunning architecture and interior design.

Nice room with bathtub. Friendly staff - Andrea was especially kind and efficient.

I wish the windows opened a few inches wider.

The shower needs sorting. Can’t adjust the shower head so had to stand at the end of the bath, bit like being hosed down 😂 Tap needs sorting at the sink. That’s it!

Wonderful, absolutely a delight

The rooms were lovely, staff were so kind and helpful, it was in a great location. Over all we had a fantastic stay and plan on coming back next year.

Location was brilliant for getting to all areas of town. The room was spacious and the bed was incredibly big and very comfortable.

We stayed 4 nights and asked the front desk staff for our room to be cleaned/turned over and for fresh towels on the 3rd day/night. But no-one ever came.
