I am not a first-time guest at Dar Al Tawhid Makkah Hotel. In fact, I always stay here whenever I visit Makkah, especially during Ramadan. I know the hotel and its standards well, which is why I felt the need to share this experience. During iftar yesterday, I politely asked Mr. Khaled Kahilah if I could take a small dessert plate to my suite to enjoy with coffee. At first, I was told it was not allowed. Then he said it would be fine as long as it was a small plate. However, when I tried to leave, I was stopped and told it was not permitted. I explained that Mr. Khaled had approved it, but in front of the restaurant entrance, his response suddenly changed and I was told I could not take it. This created a scene at the entrance and was honestly very embarrassing, as if I were making something up, even though I had asked politely and followed exactly what I was told. What happened was not professional and not acceptable!! I hope there will be clearer communication among staff to avoid situations like this in the future!

Being an IHG member does not count. The occupancy is so high not because of the service, which is extremely does not fit InterContinental brand, it is because of its location the closest to the Grand mosque. Renovation is a must. Food is the lowest. Value does not match the price at all. Lack of experienced and hospitable staff.

Warning: If you have allergies from perfumes or strong smells, stay away from this hotel, even with wearing a mask the perfumed air freshener is suffocating. Despite a few concerns, this is still my favorite hotel in Makkah. It is right in front of the haram and less crowded in front of the hotel compared to the areas in front of Hilton and clock tower hotels. Across from the back door is Jabal Omar shopping center and food court. The hotel says they have a kids play room. We stayed in the old classic style floor (not the renovated modern floor), facing the haram. The whole hotel has the prayers on the speakers. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and many amenities including robes and soft slippers. Beds were comfortable. However, there was no prayer rug (was it missing?) and there is no real mini-fridge, it is a tiny bar that can only fit a line of canned drinks. Also, the central system of lighting is so complicated that it takes half an hour to click countless buttons to figure out how to close a curtain or turn off or on a certain light. It was also very cold and we couldn't figure out a solution (there is no heat). Even after turning off A/C it was still freezing so we asked for extra blankets. The restaurant breakfast buffet was incredible and everything tasted amazing. We also tried the dinner buffet which was also amazing. There is a cafe with great food. Room service was limited in options and overpriced, but the chef generously cooked for us a special meal not on the menu. All staff throughout hotel were wonderful. What bothered me most was that the hotel seemed understaffed, with both restaurants and Zamzam cafe and housekeeping staff all running nonstop until they were sweating and panting in order to keep everything going perfectly. This is unacceptable, just because the customers are satisfied is no excuse for such slave labor, you can afford to hire more people and if you have a shortage then don't accept so many customers.

InterContinental Dar Al Tawhid Makkah January 6-9 stay, room 631 The nearest hotel to Almasjid Alharam and with a beautiful prayer hall facing Almasjid Alharam My stay was perfect from check in till check out. Special thanks to Mr Hazza' Alzahrani;he did the best, checked in early , my room was upgraded, and for recognising my membership, Thanks also to all team in Altaybat breakfast buffet restaurant many of varieties and well distributed. My thanks to Mr Abdul Latif, Mr Mohidul Foyes housekeepers and their supervisor;always on time, my room was very clean with full amenities. Special thanks to Mr Mohamed Elshikh in executive lounge for meeting my special requests, politeness and his follow-up; he is one of the best that I met in executive lounges. Thanks to all in the hotel for their attention & polite attitudes.

I had such a great experience at Dar Al Tawhid. From the moment I arrived, Meshal at the check-in counter really stood out. He was warm, patient, and genuinely helpful. He made sure everything was smooth for me, answered all my questions, and took care of my needs. The hotel’s location couldn’t be more perfect right in front of the Haram making everything so simple and comfortable. The rest of the staff were also amazing, polite, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Overall, my stay was relaxing and memorable. I felt welcomed and cared for from start to finish. Thank you to Meshal and the whole team for making this visit special. I’ll definitely come back.

This review deserves a 5 star but just because of the staff with their selective treatment at the club lounge - Walid, Mansoor and Ayman. I had booked lounge for easy access for my elderly parents, but these individuals ignored us and despite sending several complaints on the ihg feedback, these gents did not improve. They will tell us food or drinks are finished or make a face when we ask for something. The only staff who catered to us well in the lounge was Yasin - gem of a person! Every other staff in the hotel from reception - Abdulaziz Thabit, breakfast - Kamal - manager with Itehad, Motaz and cleaning team led by Alamin Ali. Beyond expectations. That compensated for the club lounge staff. The rooms, amenities, facilities and the breakfast all wow! I highly recommend this hotel because of the general staff, excellent location and food, with well maintained rooms but the lounge not worth with those staff and their behavior!

Again and again, this hotel will stay my favorite. Apart from the usual positive aspects being in the heart of Haram and in a magical location; the team is amazing. From the minute you enter the hotel, the smell, the smile, the genuine passion of every team member to make you feel welcome and recognize is beyond expectations. The whole team at the front desk are so professional, going further to the dining experience, the royalty feeling at the lounge takes you somewhere else. At the restaurant (I experienced Al Tayebat) you will meet the unbelievable team out of which I may name Mohamed Traibia, Ashraf Tabobi, Abdel Maguid Al Zahrani and many more rendering exceptional services. As for the food quality and taste, I really thank all the chefs who never cease to surprise me. Thank you, Intercontinental Dar Al Tawhid, under the fantastic management of the real hospitality figure Mr. Mohamed Serag.

We enjoyed our breakfast at InterContinental Dar Al Tawhid Makkah. We were warmly welcomed by Achraf and the lady at the front desk, a pleasant start to the morning. A big thank you to Manager Salman for his great leadership. You can truly see his influence in how well the team works together and how smoothly everything runs. The breakfast spread was amazing with variety of choices, from local dishes to international ones, all fresh and beautifully presented. All the serving staff were polite, courteous, and always ready to help with a smile.

Major Renovations I have been a guest at this hotel since 2002, and unfortunately, my most recent stay in November 2025 will likely be my last. The property appears to be in need of a comprehensive renovation, as many areas show signs of aging and wear. During our stay in a two-bedroom suite, we noticed that the room had a persistent odor, and the furnishings and décor seemed quite dated. The bathroom facilities could also benefit from refurbishment, as there was a noticeable musty smell that affected our comfort. Additionally, the carpet and some surfaces appeared in need of deeper cleaning or replacement. The hotel’s primary advantage remains its excellent location, which continues to be very convenient. However, considering the current condition of the facilities, I found the overall value to be below expectations, even with the discounted rate we received.

Having checked in after a night flight and feeling very tired I was greeted by super polite staff mashallah excellent welcome and automatically I felt at peace. I didn’t book the haram view as no option was shown on booking.com but the gentleman was VERY KIND to give me the room with a view. I walked into the room and subhanallah the view was like a dream! I felt like it was picture in front of me. I have been blessed to perform umrah many times always staying in the clock tower. Staying at this hotel is a game changer for me, and inshallah moving forward I will always book this hotel. It felt authentic it was very clean the prayer rooms were amazing. Having returned home I can not stop talking about how beautiful this hotel is from inside to the location. It was perfect and from the depth of my heart thank you for the warm hospitality.

Back at Dar al Tawhid after a year. This hotel has the best location in Makkah. The rooms are outdated but very clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was lovely with a large selection. Can't beat this hotel for convenience.

I stayed in this hotel from October 1, 2025 for two nights. In fact, words fail to describe all the hotel staff, especially the reception staff, in terms of their open-mindedness in dealing with customers and the smile that never leaves their faces. As for the location of the hotel, it is more than excellent, opposite King Fahd Gate and the distance to enter the Haram is only a few steps. As for breakfast, it satisfies all tastes in terms of the varied selection. As for the rooms, they are excellent and have everything we need, and the hotel is very clean.
