The hotel is stunning. We had the two story/ level room and it is excellent. The facilities, dining and bar also excellent. And gin masterclass excellent.

Our arrival and welcome at the hotel were truly amazing. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff made us feel incredibly welcome. Whitney and Olivia were so friendly, warm and eager to assist with anything we needed. A very special mention must go to Lourens and Layla, who are absolute assets to the hotel. Lourens, in particular, went above and beyond. Even though he was off duty, he went out of his way to get us an umbrella and personally walked with us all the way to our rooms in the rain. That kind of genuine hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile really stood out. Every time we saw him, including when he served us in the Gannet Restaurant, he was friendly, attentive and made us feel welcome. The bar staff were equally fantastic. The service throughout was friendly and professional, and the overall atmosphere made our stay feel very special. The wonderful staff and exceptional hospitality really made an impression on us. Whitney, Olivia, Lourens and Layla deserve special recognition for the way they represent the hotel. People like them are what turn a hotel stay into a memorable experience. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

Unfortunately, there was one issue with the room. The air-conditioning unit kept dripping water directly onto my head, which was quite uncomfortable and definitely needs some attention. They could have given Marriott’s member a better price for the gin tasting as it was our birthdays. Ashlea was reprimanding a staff member in front of guests.

Staff were very friendly. Had a restaurant and gin distillery onsite which was fab. Room was lovely and comfortable. Whitney at reception was amazing.

Der Blick auf das Meer. Der Empfang war freundlich. Weil die Eismaschine nicht funktionierte, brachte man uns unseren Willkommensdrink (Gin) aufs Zimmer. Das Restaurant zum Abendessen. Tolle Auswahl und alles sehr frisch.

The room was nice and clean, and the hotel kindly upgraded us and I had a balcony with seas view which was a lovely. The location is amazing, right on the waterfront. The staff were fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was very good and included some halal options, which we really appreciated.

The staff at Protea Hotel were absolutely wonderful. They couldn't do enough for us from the moment we arrived. The room was beautiful and the view over Mossel Bay was spectacular. We highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in the Mossel Bay area.

What an absolute beautiful hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. We also felt very safe. Everything was in walking distance. The staff was extremely friendly and helpfull. The barman at the bar where my husband and I ended up every night after going out was so friendly and helpful. I'm a very happy customer.

The staff was absolutely amazing. From Daniesha at Reception, Siya in the bar, to Ronnie at Cape Saint Blaze gin. Every single staff encounter was great. The extent to which they went to ensure our stay was the most comfortable and personalised experience was just mind-blowing and the best my wife and I have experienced at any hotel we've ever stayed at. The hotel is centrally located to visit most attractions. We will definitely return.

DSTV remote was faulty Building repairs underway with an angle grinder in the room next door - so we were moved to another room. The next room had a faulty shower/basin plumbing issue But...the staff were very responsive and courteous..and went the extra mile..so hats off to them.

I think it would help to check the towel rail in the shower. It is going to come out of the wall when somebody next leans on it. The wall plugs are too small for the grip. Otherwise I will be back. Room 226

Amazing Hotel, It was a last minute find as we were driving the Garden Route towards Cape Town. Very friendly and helpful staff, Hotel is beautiful, room is spacious enough for two people with all the amenities. Great beds and shower is phenomenal!! would highly recommend and will stay there again. Thank you

Beds were comfortable view was as exspected. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The bathroom stank of sewage, it was really strong and we noticed on check in that the room had just been cleaned and the bathroom had a heavy smell of bleach or some king of disinfectant. All the doors and windows were open, obviously to air out the room. This is a clear indication that the problem is known to management.

We weren't expecting such a fabulous hotel as it's chain. How wrong we were, luxurious, stylish and comfortable. Great food, lovely staff and a lovely welcoming local gin and tonic!

The location wasn't our favourite, not very scenic, but that wouldn't stop us staying again.

The views were absolutely incredible and really made the whole stay unforgettable. The staff were amazing, so friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. They truly made our stay feel special. The restaurant on the property was also fantastic, with really delicious food.

The room was amazing with a beautiful view of the harbour. Everything was very comfortable and the restaurant was lovely. We had a wonderful stay. Friendly welcome with a nice gin and tonic.

Terrible half door shower enclosure - water splashes outside very easily and wets the mat thoroughly!

Dieses Hotel kann man nur empfehlen. Das Gebäude sowie auch das Zimmer sind äußerst geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Das Restaurant ist sehr schöne angelegt im Garten und grenzt an den Pool. Unser Zimmer war überdurchschnittlich groß und sehr schön. Große Dusche und sehr sauberes Bad. Alles was benötigt wird, war vorhanden.

Das Hotel ist ein kleines Paradies, wir waren sehr positiv von der Größe, der Ausstattung, Design und dem Angebot überrascht. Durch einen kleinen Park kommt man direkt zum Strand. Abends haben wir lecker im sehr schön gestalteten Restaurant gegessen und wurden zuvorkommend und humorvoll bedient. Wir können das Hotel unbedingt empfehlen!

Väldigt trevligt mottagande vid incheckningen,bekvämt rum med fin utsikt över havet!Frukosten var mycket riklig och vällagad.Trevlig gest personalen hade tvättat rent bilrutan inför utcheckningen och Garden route.

Det som drar helhetsintrycket för oss var att vi hade bokat bord i restaurangen två dagar innan och när vi kommer dit så vill man placera oss i frukost restaurangen för att man skulle ta emot ett större sällskap med folk boende på orten.Maten sjötunga var smaklös då man inte lagt på tillräckligt med sås.Servicen var väldigt saktfärdig.Man sätter inte hotellets gäster i första hand utan lokalbefolkningen,så jag undrar varför man i receptionen var så angelägen om att vi skulle boka bord i restaurangen.

Het buiten gebeuren met restaurant; goede keuken en vriendelijke bediening.

De kamer: Heritage Room, donker en gelegen aan een drukke weg. Nog laat lawaai en om 05.30 uur reden de eerste auto’s al door de kamer. Dus nooit meer een heritage room!

Well positioned, established building, close to the harbour. Good reception area with polite and attentive staff, who offered a welcome drink which was greatly appreciated following a journey! We did not have breakfast, so cant comment on that. The restaurant was heaving for a Monday night so a good job we booked a table on arrival. Food was good and plentiful. Nice outside bar for when the weather's good and you can eat there too.

Parking proved a nightmare and was not 'on site' although we did get some help in the end with luggage. We were largely disappointed that our overall expectations did not quite match reality, mostly due to room position.

Our room was close to the road into the docks wagons sounding horns 6 am. Given a choice would stay well away fro the road Our room did not get cleaned after first night

We loved this hotel. A bit of luxury in the middle of a very long tour. The staff without exception are very friendly and helpful. A smile goes a long way. The room was very comfortable and modern. The Gannet Restaurant lived up to its reputation and our expectations. We had lovely views over the Bay and the working Harbour.

No complaints from us. All good news.

The staff were very welcoming especially those on reception. They and the reception area met Marriot standards. The room given was excellent, the views of the bay and the bathroom had everything that was needed. A special mention in the restaurant for Monique who served us. The menu was varied and the wines excellent. ( we live in a wine country) . Moinique's smile helped to accept the long wait for food. The hotel car parking was secure.

It seemed that the kitchen was struggling to keep up with the orders and so it took almost 1 hour to receive the first course which was a small 2 gambas creation. After explaining/ complaining to the restaurant manager, the service improved. The hotel was close to the harbour and so there was noise in the night from heavy lorries ascending the hill.
