Very nice room. Small but for only one night it was ok. The shower was very good. Breakfast was very nice.

Some motorway noise.

Evening meal was Ok. Did not like serve yourself breakfast.

The bathroom was far too small. There was hardly enough room to use the toilet. Too tight to move about to wash hair. Ver disappointing

Lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and a spacious carpark. There are visitors landmarks in the walking distance. All the staff we have encountered were absolutely lovely - very friendly, approachable and helpful - this includes reception, bar, restaurant, breakfast and cleaning staff. The room was great - well decorated with all the necessary amenities. It was clean and we were able to open the window (what a rare thing)! We had dinner at the hotel and it was both very delicious and a great price for what it was. The bar was well stocked and overall we were very happy with our dinner.

The biggest disappointment was breakfast - options were quite minimal and the quality of the was medium. We had enough to eat, but overall it was not very exciting and next time I would go have breakfast outside of the hotel as i was not able to source a decent coffee :( I must also note that overall the rooms are quite warm. We slept with an open window and even in September we would have liked it to be cooler. There are little fans in the room, but no aircon. The hotel general areas (hallways, lift, dining area) are a bit dated. The room felt much nicer, but common areas are just a bit tired.

The location was perfect for us to break our journey from the north of Scotland. The shower was excellent.

The room was small and the breakfast didn’t provide all the selection on the menu. I also felt the public rooms were in need of care, stained furniture and chipped paint etc.

The hotel was dirty and tired. The room itself was ok, but so noisy you could hear the next room talking. We checked out at 5.30 am the next morning not waiting around for breakfast we paid for, because the food was that bad the night before. When I complained to the young waiter about the food he just laughed and said fez, no apology, no refund from the bill. I also had what looked like bed bug bites the day after. Never again !

Numerous Got locked out of room, wasps in bar (100’s) staff aware for days, looked much more tired than last year, although the room issue was ‘eventually’ resolved by moving us to a suite we only had one night for our anniversary and it was ruined by the time/effort/inconvenience of moving etc the staff on this were good and the manager, but by this time it was spoilt

We paid for a family room, the room we had was very small. A third bed squashed in, one chhair at the desk, no AC , no fridge and no enough storage for 3 people. Room was very hot.

Guy on reception was really nice and helpful. First room we were given was lovely but shower door didnt open far and wouldn't get in. Went back to reception and was allocated another room with no problem. Other roo. Was lovely.

It was a perfect location

There was no air con in the room which quite surprised me as the rooms were all quite recently refurbished,the room was very warm,we had the window open all weekend which wasn’t ideal as our room faced towards the motorway so we heard that noise all through the night too.

Exceptional stay – highly recommended! Our stay was absolutely excellent and far beyond our expectations. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and comfortable, with an exceptionally comfortable bed. The free parking right in front of the hotel was also a great convenience. The breakfast was outstanding, with a great selection and very high-quality food. The hotel also offers dinner, and the food was genuinely excellent — everything we had was delicious. However, I would especially like to praise the lady at the reception. When I returned to the hotel by taxi at around 11 p.m., the taxi driver did not have the option to accept card payments. I had no pounds with me, only euros, which he was unwilling to accept. When the receptionist realized what the problem was, she went above and beyond — she personally drove me in her own car to the city centre to find an ATM and then brought me back to the hotel so I could pay the taxi driver. This was an incredibly kind, thoughtful, and genuinely human gesture. It is not something you experience every day, and I truly appreciate her willingness to help me even though it was late in the evening. Thank you very much for the wonderful hospitality. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel!

Nice comfy room. Great location. Staff helpful. Breakfast was good. Had to eat dinner at the sister hotel (Smiths Hotel which was a short walk round the corner) as the restaurant in the hotel was fully booked. The food there was really nice and the same menu. Would definitely stay again.

Love the location and we were married there 3 years ago.

Staff were all friendly, welcoming and efficient. The bedrooms were very comfortable with quality fittings and furniture. Immaculately clean! Wheelchair access was second to none. The wedding element created a happy atmosphere. Not noisy just happy.

A wee bit of road noise ( disappears with room windows shut), but the positives hugely outweigh this minor thing.

A nice atmosphere around the hotel. Good to see so many happy wedding groups. Brought back memories- my wife and I have been married 58 years!

I cannot honestly think of anything to dislike; we both enjoyed our stay. Felt like golden oldies- but we had lots of fun with the bridal groups. I like winding the young ones up!

the restaurant was very good, for both dinner and breakfast.

the bath was a little too high. We are old, short, fat women and couldn't get into the tub to shower properly.

We were placed in a room above a wedding party that played incredibly loud music - over 80 dB in our room at one point. Staff were unable to switch rooms or help, and didn't really seem to care very much at the time. They were not able to provide any explanation for this weird choice of rooms or to provide any commitment that they would address it for future guests.

Reception staff on restaurant were quite abrupt as we had not pre booked. It was very busy in bar and although glasses were collected, tables need wiping more often. Read of hotel was shabby, needs painting and weeds growing from gutters.

Sadly the hotel looks very tired from the outside and seems to be shiny on the inside but only where you can see at a glance. On closer inspection you can see it’s not quite as clean and shiny as you would expect. The grounds however are beautiful and as we were there for a wedding the ceremony building was lovely.

Bed was very uncomfortable. Room extremely small could hardly move round it. Bathroom extremely tiny with no where to out anything, no where to hang towels except on a radiator towel rai placed above the toilet so if the lid was down the towel fell into the toilet. Ridiculous. Staff behind the bar was extremely rude and slow, 1 lad was making cocktails whilst 1 girl constantly walked up and down the bar completely ignoring that I was stood waiting for almost 10 minutes the lad then said something to her and she the came to me with “yea, what do you want “ very rude.

Had a small wedding on 2nd August 2026. The day was excellent and went without a hitch. All the staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble.Special thanks Jill,Lynn and all the wedding team.Highly recommend this hotel.

Simple check in with staff, ample parking. Very friendly staff, and a brilliant breakfast.

Provided travel cot didn't have a fitted sheet (important for baby safety) but this was communicated to us before, and so we brought our own cot.

Staff were friendly, the room was a fair size for the rate charged. The outlook was reasonable, looking across lawns however the motorway could be heard (not excessive) if the window was open. Bathroom was cosy but shower was spacious. Building has character due to its age - pleasing exterior. Grounds were well maintained and appear to be plenty of parking spaces

Walking past a couple of rooms and whilst looking in, their outlook was very poor. Breakfast was supplied, choice only fair for a hotel of this size however restocking was slow. Our table was NOT cleared once whilst we were there which I feel is poor. We were in room 109, due to layout of corridors it was not initially easy to find.

Stayed here for our wedding. Cannot fault this hotel. Staff professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Accommodation spotlessly clean. Great amenities. Food good choice and delicious. Wedding planners and wedding day perfect. Highly recommend. Will be back for our anniversary.

It is a quaint hotel with the traditional kissing gate and anvil for weddings. James on reception was brilliant. Very helpful and friendly. Room was nice; traditional and functional.

No ev chargers at the time of our stay (which is why we had selected this hotel to stay in) but we were informed that they had been removed to be replaced by fast chargers and also where we could find others to use.

The energy saving light switch was difficult to figure how it worked, would not stay on for long, especially in ensuite as it was in the corner of the room, no sunlight during day.

Ordered the Caesar Salad for dinner. The croutons were stale ciabatta bread, which were disgusting in taste and texture, complained that stale bread are not croutons but was told the head chef allows this????? Needless to say the Caesar Salad was removed from our bill. Felt sorry for the waitress as she was obviously getting some grief from the kitchen, sort this out Head Chef!!!

Comfortable bed. Good location for exploring Gretna. The hotel grounds made for a nice walk, if a little noisy from the road, and the old buildings were interesting and attractive. Clean. Staff were courteous.

Decor needed refreshing, knocked and shoddy in places and felt more 3 star than a 4 star hotel. Carpet in our room was stained in several places, looked like drink or food spillage. Hotel close to road and very noisy with the window open. Items on the breakfast menu other than the buffet were not offered by the staff. Food and juice options not replenished very quickly or only after asking a staff member.

Stayed here as we were getting married at Gretna Green so was an ideal location, lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. Staff were so friendly and helpful, ensured everything ran smoothly. Loved the bar/lounge area, great choice of drinks, comfortable seating and a very relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was lovely as was the afternoon tea we had. Had a king size room with a lovely patio/table and chairs. A few points I would make are that the carpet was stained and could have done with a shampoo. There is nowhere to hang wet towels, hooks in bathroom would make it easier. Also there is nowhere to put toiletries in the shower so you are constantly bending down to reach everything. On the whole we had a wonderful stay and would return.

My now husband and i went the 4th of july with 30 guests we had the best time ever we hired Smilers to decorate the room it looked beautiful and i had hair and makeup done by Spoit at the sister hotel i was nervous but they listened to what i wanted and i looked lovely. the bagpipes played us in and out and we had photos by Clarke studios thanks to all of you it made our day special. Thanks to all at the hotel everything went smoothly food was amazing too and we have a beautiful day to remember can't thank you all enough. photos left are taken by family not professional xx

I booked the hotel directly , there was advance as 78£ or so . This does not clarify that of you cancel 2 weeks before your advance is not refunded , see booking details about cancellation if you book through hotel break. Come , you can cancel with fees of £7.50 even 2 days before your date of arrival However once we reached here , we were given a good suite , staff at kitchen were also very helpful , staff at reception were also good Cancellation Policy Flexible: You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 72 hours prior to your arrival. If you cancel your stay within 72 hours of arrival or in case of a no show, the balance of your stay will be charged in full. However when I challenged that , it did not go well with them . My wife wanted to go through hand binding for renewing vows. We managed to get back there , once we got another day , we did not loose deposit.

Shabby noisey and over rated. We stayed for just one night in a very small room on a very warm evening and so we had to open the window. Being so close to the main road we got very little sleep. The food was average at best. It may have been a 4 star hotel in the past but not now.

We had our wedding here on the 3rd July 26, it was absolutely perfect and that’s all thanks to the staff for going above and beyond to make your special event perfect.there wasn’t one hiccup , the food was delicious as well , it was flawless and so well organised they just took you through each step of the way. So friendly and reassuring.Can highly recommend signature Suite 1 for bridal suite it was really spacious and modern with everything you need.We loved getting married in the Coach House ,very intimate and the minister was lovely .
