Great location

Wall paper on the walls and ceiling peeling off. The finish on the bathtub was also peeling off leaving a 3x7 inch brown spot on the white porcelain. The room heaters were not functional. But mostly, the 60 yr old blonde lady at the front desk was arrogant and condescendent like a school teacher lecturing a 5 yr old. Very unpleasant and unprofessional.

No draught lager , unfortunately the one night I stayed there was a power cut and cold water went off as well , electric ppl were outside my room window from 11.30 pm till 5am with digger, power tools , very noisy so didn't sleep much , not the hotels fault tho

When we checked in we got a room on the 4th floor and the lady at the reception mentioned that the lift is not working. So without any help we had to carry 2 heavy luggage bags ourselves to the 4th floor. To add on at midnight the fire alarm went off and everyone had to rush out of the rooms in the middle of the night. Moving in to the next day the electricity of the hotel was off for almost 13 hours leaving the lift not working and also there was no water in the taps. It was a ridiculous stay

Needs refurbishment, peeling wallpaper in places. Had an electricity blackout in the night that lasted until we checked out mid morning.

Joli hotel au pied da la rue piétonne High street. Le personnel est vraiment agréable et la chambre même modeste était confortable. Nous avons bien dormi , un endroit silencieux et paisiible. Stationnement privé et déjeuner sur place. J’y retournerais sans hésitation.

Room - described as 'superior' but was very small, the bed overhung the doorway and the room smelt (smoke?). Although the sheets had obviously been laundered there were 3 large stains down the middle. The shower was great but didn't drain so we were left standing up to our ankles in water. Overall hotel is sad and tired. Front of house staff - very surly.

Het hotel is vergane glorie, het raam van de kamer ging niet meer dicht en was ontzet en de verwarming kon niet meer uit . Het personeel was niet onvriendelijk maar deed alleen hun werk, geen plezier in het werk en geen vriendelijkheid. Onze kamer was aan een flinke opknapbeurt toe. Kortom veel te duur voor wat geboden werd.

We stayed for one night. Unfortunately, there was no hot water in the room (and it seemed to be a general issue), so we had to shower with freezing cold water.

Very noisy, room next to a plant room made it impossible to sleep when boilers fired up. Room was grim, peeling wall paper, water stains, hadnt seen a paint brush for years,. Stupidly overpriced for the facilities, definitely stay there again

Very dated rooms and no hot water in the morning. When reporting it to reception we were told its not the hotels problem. Dor nearly £200 a night i expect to have hot water for a shower in the morning.

A lovely traditional Scottish hotel! The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. It's perfectly positioned - a very short walk from the centre and also from both the bus and train stations. I certainly recommend it!

We stayed here because we were going on the Jacobite Steam train the next morning; the hotel is perfect for that being just across the road from the train station. The breakfast was also good.

Where to start?! The hotel was in very poor upkeep: so bad that the elevator (lift) got stuck while my wife and I were in it. She's very claustrophobic so started panicking almost immediately. Fortunately, we were only about 60 cm up so the mechanic was able to open the door quite quickly. Speaking with staff, this was a KNOWN issue! Reading pas reviews confirms this. The owners are obviously more interested in lining their pockets than spending money on badly-needed maintenance. It's no wonder that at the time of this writing (September 2026) the hotel and its sisters ar win receivership. It's very expensive, which wouldn't have been so bad if the hotel lived up to the expectations set by its price. Avoid,a dine you don't avoid, do NOT use the elevators!

Staff were super friendly. My room was clean and comfortable. I had dinner at the restaurant, which was lovely, and the waiting staff were very attentive.

The hotel could use a little bit of TLC.

The hotel is in a beautiful old building, but unfortunately the soundproofing reflects its age. I could hear people talking on the floor below and walking and talking upstairs. Thankfully I had earplugs, although some noise still came through.

The location was perfect and there was so much variety! We climbed Ben Nevis explored the walking trials of Glen Nevis went to the free museum explored the beautiful city centre saw the Jacobite train and had great meals in town we can’t wait to come back to Fort William!

Frühstücksraum/Restaurant glich einer Bahnhofskneipe aus den 50ern. Fahrstuhl konnte entweder nur mit 2Personen, oder einer Person mit Gepäck genutzt werden - ein Witz. Rate von EUR 299,-- völlig überzogen.

Camera moderna, ampia, dotata del necessario. Letto comodo. Simpatica hall. Parcheggio in uno spazio all’aperto, protetto solo da videocamere e di libero accesso, sebbene sia necessario passare davanti l’ingresso dell’hotel. Posizione centrale e comoda. Colazione sufficiente , tutto a buffet, scarsa per chi ama soprattutto il “dolce” e non il “salato”.

Finestra della camera alta e di difficile apertura e chiusura. Ascensore insufficiente.

La struttura ha decisamente visto tempi migliori e non è stata rinnovata. Probabilmente negli anni '80 ha avuto il suo momento di gloria, ma ora siamo nel 2026 e sarebbe ora di darsi una rinfrescata. Nella maggior parte degli ambienti c'era odore di chiuso. Dalle tubature bagno della mia stanza proveniva un odore poco piacevole. Bagno poco funzionale - mancava anche lo spazzolone per il WC. La stanza era antiquata e poco curata, con pareti macchiate e carta da parati scollata. Una finestra un po' difettosa aggiustata alla meglio. Appena fuori dalla finestra del bagno escrementi di uccelli, e non era stata installata alcuna protezione dai volatili. La lunghezza della tenda del bagno era ridotta e toglie la privacy proprio all' "altezza" dove è più gradita. Staff non particolarmente accogliente. Nel complesso, non ci tornerei. Per il prezzo offerto, i servizi sono sufficienti. Ma dovremmo smettere di prenotare in strutture di questo tipo altrimenti non saranno mai costrette a rinnovarsi.

Great location, reasonable choice for breakfast. Staff aware I was travelling solo and showed me my room details rather than telling me where someone might overhear.

A bit dated and in need of some decoration & repair. Paint peeling off around windows, carpet a little grubby and warn in some areas. Single room was small with limited space around bed and no sockets near the bedside table.

Packed lunch given to us when we were leaving early for day on train, VG Delighted to get the walk in shower I had requested. Level 4 was not a problem as lift was small but very reliable.

The entrance and ground floor were up to standard. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was very nice.

The rooms are in desperate need of updating. The bathroom stank of damp, the tv only had 4 channels, no fridge, toilet waste pipe filled with expanding foam. Wallpaper peeling off.

The hotel's location in the heart of the city was perfect, close to the train station, the city center, and with ample free parking. The breakfast was very good and plentiful.

If you're looking to step back in time to the 1970s, this hotel is exactly where you need to go. The rooms have their original decor and furnishings, and the bathroom looks just like the one your grandmother might have had since she was a child. All joking aside, while the hotel was very clean, it definitely has an old-fashioned look and is in dire need of renovation. Given this outdated feel, the price is exorbitant.

If I had to sum up this hotel in a single word, it would be shabby. Considering the price being charged, I expected a much higher standard of accommodation. Everywhere you look, there is a clear need for investment and repair. Damaged furniture, wallpaper peeling from the walls (I thought the wall in my bedroom was curved at the top - it was just the wallpaper coming away), missing grout on the bathroom tiles, and a general sense of neglect all contribute to an environment that feels old, tired, and well past its best. Breakfast was more than adequate, with a reasonable selection on offer. However, it was served in a dining room that lacked any charm, atmosphere, or personality. It felt more functional than welcoming and certainly didn't encourage me to linger any longer than absolutely necessary. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with this experience. There is undoubtedly a need for good-quality accommodation in this area, but unfortunately this hotel does not currently fit the bill. Until significant refurbishment and maintenance work are undertaken, I struggle to see how the room rates can be justified.

Ironing boards and irons (x2) left in corridor (which was useful) as well as empty cardboard boxes. Only stayed one night, so put up with it.

Location is great. That is honestly the only good thing I can think of. I assume some 40 years ago this was a great place to stay.

- extremely (!) overpriced but we had no other option - it was impossible to open the windows. The entire room smelled of bathroom cleaner right from the start which was rather disgusting - additionally, to ventilation/AC or anything like that - during our first day, there was no hot water. After having finished the West Highland Way beforehand, we didn't care much about that, but for most people this would be understandingly unacceptable - hair of previous guests in the shower - one faucet nearly fell off, also the bathroom door wouldn't close properly - dirty floor everywhere - catastrophic breakfast, everything was really awful - it felt like hours before anyone would fill up the otherwise empty buffet - a horde of employees being in the breakfast room without any visible task. Some were just standing there looking at you which was rather funny - fire alarm check early in the morning without prior information to guests (only directly at reception desk same day to which you would not go normally in the time between waking up and having breakfast) - an original 70s equipment CAN be nice and stylish if properly maintained. This is not the case for this hotel. Everything is run down, dirty and not working properly. Classic example of dysfunctional management. By far the worst accommodation we had in Scotland. It was very disappointing to go through this the very last day @ the West Highland Way.

It is a great location and the staff are lovely but it is incredibly overpriced for the condition of the rooms and state of the building. I would not stay here again unless it was under £70 a night.

We paid just over £200 without breakfast - the hotel is well in need of a refurb (bathroom falling apart, carpets sodden and threadbare, doors don't fit frames so you can hear everyone walking past). The owners clearly don't care about customer experience and just want cash.
