We stayed at The Evenhill to visit Howletts Wild Animal Park. The Evenhill is a great place to stay, the accommodation is in a separate building to the Pub, which made it quieter. The room itself was large, very comfortable and even had a bath, which I was really pleased about. We had dinner in the pub in the evening, the food was very tasty, and we had a good breakfast in the morning. We would definitely stay here again.

Convenient for Canterbury on a good bus route, food all cooked to order and tasty, friendly and helpful staff with good humour. Breakfast was very good lots of choice. Lots of parking. Accommodation was set well back from the pub and road it was very comfortable and clean.

Good location, good parking, pet-friendly, good wifi. Standard breakfast.

Bed was comfortable, but room was not cleaned during our stay, despite a staff member asking us in the morning if we wished to have fresh towels (we said yes, but nothing was done, and we ran out also of toilet paper: they had provided one roll only in the room). Room is advertised "with AC" but weirdly they installed an air cooler with its exhaust pipe going through the open window: not an efficient way to cool the room situated under the roof. Bathroom was large but had the tiniest, lowest wash basin I have ever seen, with a broad glass tablet over it, making using it really uncomfortable if you are an adult (maybe the tiny wash basin was designed for school kids?). Lighting in the bathroon should be improved: the main ceiling light can only be switched on through a string hanging in the shower cabin. In a dark bathroom, how are you supposed to find out that there is no wall switch?. Checking in you get a rather cold and unwelcoming reception from the owner, although staff is in general very nice.

Lovely quiet, well appointed dog friendly room. Comfy bed, nice bathroom, good shower and easy parking. Pub served good honest pub fare and good beer. Very friendly dog friendly pub.

Beautifully located in the countryside around Canterbury, very close to the city. Very warm and friendly welcome. Very nice and spacious suite, decorated with taste and style.

Room wasn't always attended to as efficiently as expected. Bin never emptied for the duration of our stay, and one day there was no towel replacement

The staff were friendly made us feel welcomed, nice and quiet in the evening when you were sleeping, food was lovely.

Lovely welcome by Debbie who showed us to our room., that had everything we needed. We even had air con and a fridge . Friendly atmosphere in the bar area. We had a really good nights sleep , the beds were comfy. Breakfast was great ,we will be back here again in the future. Thank you Debbie , we can see how hard you work to have such a lovely place .

Breakfast was good. Sausages were a little disappointing but good value in general as included in the room rate.

I would have liked a soft armchair or similar in the room. WiFi dropped out a few times.

Location sicuramente caratteristica tipica del luogo, così come la colazione nel il telefono pub che fa parte della struttura. Posizione molto comoda rispetto alla linea del bus che collega con Canterbury.

In generale la struttura è stata ristrutturata ma i servizi igienici a mio giudizio avrebbero necessità di ulteriori interventi di ammodernamento.

Tutto ok: camera, cena e colazione.

La climatisation pour l'une des deux chambres que nous avez réservées. Nécessaire quand vous êtes à l'étage, sous les combles. Le petit déjeuner, à la carte pour le petit déjeuner anglais et buffet pour le petit déjeuner continental. Les repas pris au restaurant de l'hôtel, qui est en fait un pub, étaient copieux pour un prix restant raisonable (environ £18,00 par personne)

La douche (il faut grimper dans la baignoire) mais bon je le savais en réservant puisque pour l'une des deux chambres réservées, il n'y avait pas le choix.

Personeel was erg vriendelijk. Ontbijt was prima. Je kon aangeven wat je graag wilde hebben, naast het buffet.

Accommodatie is enigszins gedateerd.

A lovely country pub in a small village, with comfortable air-conditioned rooms, mainly in a separate annex / “barn”. It is ideally located for visiting Canterbury, plus a convenient 20 miles (45 mins) from the Channel ports.

Not having a full breakfast! Served from 7.30am but we needed to be away by 7.45am to catch the Dover ferry 😩 (it looked lovely too)

Our room had aircon and a fridge which was wonderful in a hot summer. We were at the back of the building so it was very quiet. Rooms are in a converted barn behind a rustic old pub. There were several other people staying but we hardly heard them. Lovely breakfast included in cost, served in pub. Room very clean with good amount of storage for a smallish room. Easy parking. In the countryside but short drive to Canterbury.

Rustic features included intermittent water pressure and spluttering taps. Window blinds don't completely cover windows. TV quite small.

Posizione fantastica, non molto lontana da Canterbury in piena campagna. Il miglior Hotel dove abbia soggiornato nel mio viaggio in Inghilterra, camera ampia con tutto il necessario, pulitissima e profumata, ottima colazione. Non da poco, parcheggio completamente gratuito.

English Breakfast war gut und lecker. Ebenso kann man das Restaurant und Pub empfehlen, das Essen ist gut. Das Gebäude ist vom 1600 Jahrhundert, daher eine gemütliche Ambiente.

Ciekawy zajazd, w dawnym klimacie przydrożnej karczmy. Cicha i spokojna okolica. Pokój wygodny i czysty, chociaż dość skromny i nieco mało funkcjonalny, podobnie jak wyposażenie. Dobre śniadanie, chociaż brakuje świeżych elementów jak pomidory, ogórki czy ser.

Pokoje czyste, ale mało komfortowe. brakuje drobiazgów, które mogły by dopełnić ogólnie dobre wrażanie, jak szafki na kosmetyki, czy chusteczki higieniczne.

We loved the full sized towels! My mother, in her 80s, especially appreciated the corner bath which had the shower above it. The room was spotlessly clean. The twin beds were well positioned in a good sized room. We didn't need to use the air con, but booked the Evenhill specifically because it's available in all the rooms. We had the steak for our evening meal and it was perfectly cooked. No room for dessert, but they looked fabulous. Very generous portions. Breakfast set us up well for the day ahead, and the poached eggs were also cooked perfectly. The staff were all very friendly and professional, and kept smiling during some quite trying times.

The bathroom door in room 16 could probably use some WD40, but that's a minor issue in an otherwise wonderful stay.

Silent but effective air con in the rooms A lot of free bottled water and a good sized fridge. Nice bar meals. I can recommend the ham, egg and chips if you're very hungry.

Not the hotel's fault but Kent satnav seems to cut in and out. All my trips were routed through 'Britain's smallest town', Fordwich. Not smallest based on traffic!

Wur kamen sehr spät an, die Küche war schon geschlossen, uns wurde ein super leckeres Sandwich mit Salat und tacos serviert mit einem herrlichen Bier 🍺 auf der Terrasse. Das hat uns nach einem Stau reichen Tag gerettet und wir danken der Wirtin sehr dafür 🥰 Zimmer sind klimatisiert und mit einem kleinen Kühlschrank ausgestattet.

Insgesamt sehr altes Haus, aber behindertengerecht und sauber. Sehr harte Betten.

Vecchia costruzione affiancata ad un antico pub. La padrona e molto gentile. La struttura e vecchia ma sufficientemente attrezzata in relazione al contesto del vecchio pub. Ottima la posizione per Canterbury

In the three days we were there the room was not cleaned or bins emptied also could have done either shampoo and conditioner being supplied

Lovely, convenient place to stay. The pub was welcoming and served good food, for eveing meals and breakfast.

It's not luxury but does everything needed.

If there was one improvement I would suggest at this lovely hotel it would be that the bedroom could have done with having blackout curtains - we had a rear facing room and with sunrise at just after 4am (June 2026) the room was daylight very early on.

We wilden om half 8 ontbijten, maar de eigenaar gaf aan dat dat pas vanaf 8 uur kon. Ze was er nog niet aan toegekomen om het op de website aan te passen, en overigens ook niet in de informatie op de kamer zelf. Wij hadden juist deze locatie gekozen om op tijd de ferry in Dover te kunnen halen Uiteindelijk gaf ze toch toe en konden we alsnog ontbijten (helaas met aangebrande toast) De eigenaar was een beetje chagrijnig en niet vriendelijk naar het meisje dat haar kwam helpen, ook dat is een verbeterpunt

this was only a one night stay, but myself and my 2 sons had a very nice stay, it was all clean and friendly, nice food and aircon in rooms was great. we are all saying we will make a return

Lovely decor, clean, well stocked tea and coffee supply. It was hot when we arrived and there was a very efficient air conditioning unit. Lovely breakfast and evening meal and fantastic staff really helpful. Good car parking.

De aanwezigheid van airco op deze hete dagen was erg fijn. Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk. Lekker gegeten en goed ontbeten.

Je merkt wel dat de kamers aan een opknapbeurt toe zijn. Alles was zeer schoon maar oud. Dat maakt dat de prijs voor een kamer te hoog is.

This was definitely a 10/10 stay absolutely beautiful. Food was outstanding 10/10. Friendly place to stay everybody that works there are amazing I cannot fault this place and I highly reccomend a stay here.

Vlakbij Canterbury was fijn. Leuk dat je 's avonds in the pub kon zitten. Ook buiten zitten is mogelijk. Bed was redelijk en de douche goed.

De kamer was erg gedateerd en smakeloos ingericht. Vecht vieze vloerbedekking en achterstallig onderhoud in badkamer. De raambekleding kon niet helemaal dicht dus het was erg licht op de kamer.

Absolutely loved the place. It was close to the main attractions and the staff were extremely sweet. A quaint place to relax and was very clean. The breakfast was really good. Very comfortable beds and fast wifi. The bathrooms were clean with good water pressure. One of the best stays we've been to. Worth the money. Will definitely visit again.

The property is nestled in the green countryside just outside Canterbury. The room is clean, tidy, and equipped with everything you need. An excellent hot breakfast is freshly prepared on the spot, and the staff is kind.

We had an issue with an alarm in the corridor, which was promptly resolved by the staff.

Ceilings were very low in some parts of the room which could cause problems 5ft5 would cause problems with head room.

A very enjoyable stay, which was excellent value for money Both dinner in the evening and breakfast the following morning were really good, excellent value for money and very tasty! The shower over the bath was easy to use and the water instantly hot - a real bonus!

The room was quaint but cozy and comfortable. The breakfast was first class and dinner was also very good. We had no complaints and would book this accommodation again.

If one chooses to have a light meal such as a takeaway and have it in the room instead of booking a dinner in the Evenhill then this was not catered for, however, this is probably intentional.

Pour le diner, nous avons attendu 1h30 entre la commande et l’arrivée des plats. Nous avions pourtant appelé pour reserver. Mais la cuisine était débordée, ils auraient du nous dire qu’ils ne pouvaient pas nous recevoir au lieu de nous faire autant attendre. Des vagues excuses mais aucun geste commercial n’a été fait, ni meme du pain ou des chips pour faire attendre les enfants. Cela nous a gâché notre soirée.
