Loved the location. The suite was a nice size and comfortable. The mattress could have benefited with a mattress topper bur we used the duvet. It was comfortable using just a sheet without the duvet. The bathroom floor was slanted but okay. You had to appreciate being in a building that old and be prepared for irregular items, as that is also part of the charm. Staff were fabulous with us and also helpful with parking when we found out the RingGo app does not support phone numbers that are not UK. But odd that a car lot just for the hotel has a third party payment that is not part of the hotel fee. Loved the bar and enjoyed happy hour..,and they had a very good breakfast.
Well, being next to a pub with a live band on Friday night was not wonderful but we were staying right in the middle of Canterbury. Did not like the parking set up but then don’t understand it either. We would not stay at the Falstaff in the summer as there is no air conditioning and it would be too hot. The room was warm even now but manageable, and it was complicated by being in a room on the Main Street so we did not leave the window open overnight due to noise. Not a major deterrent if you know what to expect. A fan was provided with the room, which was necessary. Room cleaned and tidied daily so nice to come into at the end of the day!
Trotzdem ruhige Lage, keine Hektik.
Breakfast was excellent with many choices on offer. Location very good girl train station and all amenities.
All good.
Nothing special
Rooms small, no AC. Superior room no AC too and older wallpaper who falls off the walls in the room
Perfect location and friendly people
Room lighting
Camere accoglienti e pulite, in posizione centralissima.
The breakfast is absolutely amazing.
Staff pleasant though all very young. Room was small but comfortable, breakfast was fine. Location was good. Quirky historic building. Clean bathroom.
Overpriced for what was available. Took more than one attempt to convey breakfast order each day ( slight deviation from the veg breakfast). Scottish accent may have defeated them! No evening food on offer. Rust on bathroom window.
Great location, friendly staff and very good breakfast
Bed wasnt the best
Location was good
Too expensive for what it is.
Close to city centre.
Very expensive.
Can’t say enough about the Falstaff!
No complaints at all.
Like the period features, nice bar, excellent food and drinks. Room was facing the street and very very noisy at nighttime
Noisy, issue with booking room - was given wrong information and ended up getting stuck with the basic room which isn’t what we wanted.
Staff was great, bar and downstairs area were great
No circulation, no windows that could open, stuffy, hot room.
Great location, pleasant staff and fine breakfast.
Parking was expensive and pricing do with being adjusted to give better value.
The worst hotel I ever stayed in. I'm awaiting an e-mail from booking .com regarding a refund.m please contact me
Sehr hilfsbereites Personal an der Rezeption! Vielen Dank!!!
Location, lighting, decor and comfort
Breakfast - the full English was obviously sitting in a vat next door- watery eggs and overcooked bacon. Mushrooms looked boiled! Everything else was fine but this particular aspect of the menu felt like it belonged in a low budget chain
Ausstattung ist geschmackvoll.
Zimmer war sehr klein sowie das Bett.
Gran desayuno, genial ubicacion y buena habitacion
Nada
Very nice and pleasant
Nothing
Very close to everything we wanted. Parking was easy. Bed was comfortable. Not much road noise and we were right at the front of the hotel looking onto the road. Good options for breakfast as well
Centrally located you can park up here and easily explore Canterbury. Lovely quirky hotel with unique rooms. We stayed in one of the classic rooms, lovely decor and very comfortable. The breakfast choice is extensive, well cooked and presented and all the staff are really welcoming and friendly.
Outstanding teabags in room. So nice to stay somewhere that doesn't just put out revolting PG tips. Excellent location - cross the road and you're in town straight away. Impressive breakfast choices - we had the full English and it was excellent. Lovely happy hour idea for guests - not only 2 for 1 cocktails but also complimentary cheese and biscuits. The whole place was clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
Feather pillows, ugh. It is a little bit noisy as you're right by a road but we didn't find this too difficult to cope with. Broken plug in sink which wasn't sorted while we were there.
room was comfortable, breakfast was very good, parking on site was convenient, location was great for walking around Canterbury.
parking cost 36 pounds for two motorcycles. I realize this was a separate operation but seemed excessive. As they fit in one parking spot, the charge should have been 18 pounds.
The price was very good, the breakfast was great and the staff were really good, nice bar, restaurant and hotel overall.
The room was a little small (expected and not the bad point) but because it was small, it was very warm. With the one small window opened and no air conditioning, sleep was a little difficult. Appreciate the weather was high 20's and may not be like that all the time. You could hear music playing all night long and from the early hours, don't know if it was the bar / restaurant but wasn't ideal. Also, the shower door is hanging on for dear life. Also the parking was a little dear for just an overnight stay. Thought guests may get free or discounted parking fee.
Location, decoration. Space for seating inside and outside. Parking onsite was excellent too.
We had a room at the front. The secondary glazing came loose and came down. The bins were emptied right outside our window at 5am Monday morning.
The staff were very helpful.
Friendly staff , clean and great location
ubicacion
Fabulous location and a lovely hotel
Nothing
Perfect location but very small room, small dangerous bathroom with no handle to get into the bathtub, no hand held shower, no fridge, no air conditioning though there was a small ventilator. Felt more like 3 stars rather than 4.
L’atmosfera tipicamente inglese e l’arredo della stanza
Good location, spacious suite.
The furniture and carpets felt a little shabby and could do with an upgrade soon. No mini fridge to keep water cold.
Lovely room
Ceiling fan could be helpful
Le style olf fashioned
Goeie plek in Canterbury! Loopt zo t centrum in.
The hotel is in a very central location to explore Canterbury and its attractions. The room was spacious, clean and well presented.
The room we had was next to the road and traffic noise came through. The tables were a little close together at breakfast. Parking is hit and miss as there are limited spaces available.
Stanza splendida e colazione ottima.
The room was lovely. Fairly small, but everything was beautifully decorated with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. We were in a small building beside the car park. The main hotel reception, bar, dining room etc is gorgeous. The staff were without exception friendly, welcoming and helpful. We had yummy cocktails at the bar in the evening and breakfast the following morning was great. The hotel is just a short walk from the city centre and has its own car park, which is a bonus in Canterbury. Much cheaper than using car parks around the city. We would definitely consider the Falstaff for our next trip to Canterbury.
A bit of noise from the road at night, but that can't be helped. Apart from that everything was great!
Rooms were small but cozy enough. The building itself is quite old but well preserved. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good as well.
The only inconvenience we found in our room was the kettle which was a little bit dirty.
Great location, good breakfast and beautiful decor. Nice lounge and drinks available late 👍🏻
Awful old windows with dreadful secondary glazing which was scary to remove. No aircon. I’m afraid that in today’s climate, all rooms must have aircon, either installed or portable units
The Hotel is very conveniently located at a stone s throw from Canterbury West Station and the logo is eye catching with the distinctive F. The name is well chosen and as you walk in you get a good impression. The staff work very hard and support each other and do more than one task outside of their immediate department so be prepared to be patient if you have requests. Their set up can be a bit frustrating if you are trying to contact them about something only because they have fewer people who can answer specific questions and also because their system seems like it could be better linked up to accommodate what should be expected traveller requests. However I have never let them deter me from staying with them as the bigger picture is a well meaning friendly staff who often get very busy as it is a popular hotel. I Breakfast is also decent. Air conditioning may be worth installing for them but it is my go to place despite sometimes gavk g to call or email more than once to have a simple reauest dealt with. The sitting room is very nice and their other loyal customers say their afternoon tea is very good but I believe it has to be pre ordered. I gave always found them friendly and welcoming. Do try this hotel.
Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast . Comfortable and chic spaces.
Noisy people in the street late at night.
Comfortable bed, good location, nice breakfast
Drilling outside my bedroom at 8.30am followed by the fire alarm . No chance of sleeping in!! Works should be done later in the day
Très bon emplacement. Parking. Literie exceptionnelle. Calme. Personnel très agréable.
Chambre très petite pour le prix. Petit déjeuner anglais servi à l'assiette mais réchauffé.
Posizione, camera spaziosa e letto molto comodo.
Location, staff was very friendly and the rooms were very chic!
It was hot due to heatwave but they helped with the fans.
The hotel is in a very central location, which was convenient for getting around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the room was quite small and had very limited storage, making it difficult to keep belongings organised. Unfortunately, the bathroom was disappointing. There was visible mould and dark buildup around the shower seals and corners, and the overall condition of the bathroom suggested that it needed a more thorough deep clean and some maintenance. The location is a positive, but the small room, lack of storage, and mouldy bathroom made the stay less comfortable than expected.
The bar area was beautiful, as were the surrounding sitting rooms. The rooms were attractive and I appreciated the fan.
Having asked if mine and my husband's rooms could be next to each other, we were put on different floors. My friends, who also came and booked after me, were put next door to me. They could have been given the room on the other floor so my husband and I were next to each other as requested. It was strange and not very helpful. The buffet at breakfast was laid out on a small side-board area so there were queues. It would be easier if it were spread out on a larger surface. It's a small issue but I didn't enjoy getting my coffee from a push-down-top thermos canteen. It was tricky to use and reminded me of a work venue or conference centre.
I did not like that the staff did not remind me - or informed me about the parking procedure and I am haveing a lot f problems trying to solve and pay fines and it is to much.
Close to the town
No air conditioning, no safe in the rooms, very small rooms
Posizione eccellente. Parcheggio comodo.
Location is perfect
It was very hot in the room, no aircondition.
We have stayed here before and so booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary weekend in Canterbury. What a lovely hotel! The staff were excellent, friendly and attentive, especially the lady on reception. We had a cosy room, which was very cosy and comfortable, and the bathroom was great. The WiFi was problematic getting on to, but to be honest we had a strong 5g signal and we weren’t there to stare at our phones. Breakfast was great. Overall a very good hotel, that we shall definitely be returning to. 😀
Very clean , great location and excellent customer service.
If you have a room facing the road , its very noisey as windows are not double glazed.
Das Zimmer ist sehr schön und sauber
Great location in Canterbury. Short walk into town. Near Canterbury West station. Room was clean and comfortable. Shower was good. Staff were excellent. Alexandra was very helpful. Food was good. Bikes accommodated in locked garage. Thank you.
Room didn’t have a window. Had a light well with mirrors, which was ok for one night. More hanging space for towels would be a great improvement. More hooks or rails
God frokost
Badekaret
I arrived at the Falstaff hotel around 16:00 and was immediately concerned with my choice. Locating the hotel car park was a nightmare and what would have been a huge help was to have found information on the website relating to this. It was a significant challenge when I arrived outside the hotel (on a main city centre road) and there was zero signage and I was literally on the High Street. In the end, I had to leave my car on a side street and risk a ticket whilst I ran to the hotel for guidance. This was freely given, however it would’ve been much more helpful had I been provided proactively with this information when booking. There was some vague information on the website, but this was totally inadequate for someone not familiar with the Canterbury. A physical map or photographs would’ve been hugely helpful. The second issue on the back of the above were the arrangements for parking in the hotel car park. The small car park, whilst owned by the hotel, is operated by an external company and you have to register with them after you’ve arrived as space is limited. This can only be done online with the company, however the Wi-Fi at the Falstaff is not the best and securing a connection, or even using my own data, took well in excess of 30 minutes to achieve a successful connection. It was also frustrating that I could only book for one day when I was staying for two. That made it necessary to do a second booking the next morning to increase my stay by 24 hours. I strongly feel that it would be far superior for guests to register their car at reception for the duration of their stay at check in, which is a more common practice with hotels using a parking agency. Having got the negatives out of the way, the positives are that the hotel is very well located for accessing the majority of local sites without the need of using a car. The hotel is quite an old building that has huge character and occupies very attractive premises. Check-in was quite straightforward and all my details were accurately confirmed. I had reserved a luxury room and this was a decent size and had the benefit of a rolltop bath in the bedroom as well as a decent size bathroom with a good-sized shower cubicle. The room did not have air-conditioning, but did have fully opening windows that gave a good flow of fresh air. A fan was also provided. The super king-size bed was very comfortable. I met the housekeeper in the morning and she was very efficient and friendly. The room had a hospitality tray and bottled water, a wall mounted TV, but no safe. Breakfast was taken in a small dining area and parts of the main restaurant were opened if necessary should too many guests arrive at one time. I found Luke to be exceptionally helpful and nothing was too much trouble. He had a good personality and was friendly. Food servings were plentiful and all items were high-quality and tasted fresh. I looked into the possibility of a late check out after my second night, and was accommodated with an extra 30 minutes, which was quite helpful. The price of the hotel is fair for the quality, and my stay was very pleasant and comfortable. The Falstaff is an excellent base when visiting Canterbury.
Location was great, rooms were lovely, breakfast was really nice. Parking was a bonus, even if it did come at an extra cost because it was convenient.
When we asked for a drink at the hotel bar we were told they were shut…even though it was 10:30pm, we were guests and even though we could have ordered room service, the staff member actually said they woul walk us to another bar rather than serve us. We did go to the other bar, the drinks were nicer and we didn’t drink at the hotel bar again, but the reception staff and restaurant staff for breakfast were really friendly and helpful and the hotel in general was really lovely.
Great location, fabulous bar and breakfast
Nothing
Wonderful location, amazing property with a lot of character, really nice staff
Leuk, historisch hotel in het centrum. Parkeergelegenheid
Lovely characterful property with friendly staff
The noise from the road until the early hours of the morning was very problematic & windows are so old you can’t close some and can’t open others. Sleep was very tricky.
Location
Smart Tv
Prima ontbijt, goed bed en vriendelijke service
De douche was wat eenvoudig
Lovely bar and lounge, staff polite, friendly and helpful, good breakfast.
The room was tiny, boiling hot and on the main road, so very noisy as the window had to be open. The shower was weak and tiny, no fridge, for £220 it was awful.
The employees.
The rooms !
The hotel is in a lovely location in the centre of Canterbury, the bar and lounge areas are lovely and they have a happy hour with complimentary cheese and meats and 2 for 1 cocktails, all the staff are lovely and helpful, this is why I have given 3 stars, the room I would give 0! We were in room 2, in the rafters and we walked into a tiny, boiling, stuffy room, how they can charge £220 a night for it baffles me! If you are over 5ft 5 you wouldn’t get into the shower! We asked for a different room but they were fully booked, we even tried to book a different hotel as it was unbearable, all booked out. We had to leave the door open and the window open to get some air inside, which wasn’t good as we were on the main road and heard every single noise, not the hotels fault, I know but again not worth the price we paid, I think I got 1 hours sleep. Breakfast was good and again, lovely staff and service. Would I return, maybe, but I would make sure I didn’t have room 1 or 2, but to be honest, I have probably learnt my lesson and will only book hotels with aircon in future.
Lage zur Fußgängerzone , erstaunlich gutes Frühstück
Parkplatz etwas entfernt, Treppen, kleines enges Bad,
Accueil moyen. Mauvaise insonorisation.
