I appreciate old buildings with character, but unfortunately, the charm of this hotel was completely overshadowed by the lack of cleanliness and maintenance. There were stains on the bedding, dusty surfaces, and the glasses in the room had clearly not been cleaned properly. Our third-floor room was extremely warm and stuffy, with no air conditioning, which made it very uncomfortable. The breakfast was very basic and, sadly, not particularly tasty. The coffee was also disappointing and barely worth mentioning. The condition of the hotel’s common areas was not much better. The carpets had visible stains, and there was debris in the lifts, which gave the whole place a rather neglected feeling. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and certainly not what I expected from a stay in Eastbourne. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

Room was OK but could do with a makeover. Bathroom door wouldn't close, there were paint blobs on the floor, and the sink was seriously cracked.

Checking in time ie, 3 pm and checking out 10am.Nay be extend the checking out to 10.30, but otherwise it was fine.

It was sold as seaview and was charged extra for that, but in name of sea view it was one window where one can see the sea through large scaffolding Felt like cheated

It very much did what it needed to. Pleasant stay and plentiful breakfast.

The room was horrible. Dark , dirty walls and crumbs on the floor. We paid £180 for 1 night which was a rip off for the room we stayed in.

Great location on the front and close to all amenities. Our room was a good size with fridge. Private parking to rear at £8.00 per night.

There was no safe in our room this time.

Staff not entering the room during our stay. Comfortable room. You could watch the TV from chairs instead of having to watch from the bed.

Location was very good.had breakfast second morning only.The staff were efficient and quite friendly food was fine all in all ok.

We paid for a superior twin room but felt it wasnt worth the extra money.window only opened few inches and room quite small.

The double bed is two single beds together, they are opening in half, it is not comfortable for a couple. The room is very bright, because the curtain is not enough to make the room dark.

The staff were kind and tried to help as best as they could but ultimately run off their feet.

I had bed bugs and was bitten, the window couldn’t lock so no security, the shower pressure was weak.

On the whole acceptable except the eggs. They were fried and put on the hot plate but because so many were done at once there were a number that lay on the hot plate too long and became unpalatable.

The cleanliness on the room left a lot to be desired. On arrival found rubbish that had been left behind the curtains for some time and there was a goodly layer of dust there as well. The cabinets and fitting were very tired looking and were coming apart. Paid £500 for 3 nights for a bit of comfort and was very disappointed. Visited this hotel some years ago and had happy memories of ladies weekends and this visit burst the bubble. Very disapointed

first room was awful, beds so old, toppers on bed covered in urine and semen stains , absolutely disgusting!!! Room full of cobwebs and balcony filthy. Second room offered was the same and finally third room had newish bed.

The hotel was dated, unclean and tatty. The staff were unhelpful. We were not given any information, we found out there was an information leaflet. Our room wasn’t cleaned during our stay. We asked for customer services email and given the wrong email address. We paid for 3 nights parking when we checked in, which I know was on a first come basis but not told there was a wedding on the Saturday night, so we couldn’t get a space. We did have the money refunded but I thought it should have been may aware

From start to finish Danesa the receptionist was an Angel She made sure our stay was the best hotel experience in the world , checking to make sure our room was ok to giving positive and friendly advice throughout the stay nothing was to much trouble Such a lovely run hotel

Didn’t dislike anything, just the room myself and my other half was in, was very warm. As if the heating was on? The radiator wasn’t on so who knows!

The room was very comfortable and the location was close to all that we wanted.

The evening meal we stayed in for and both breakfasts were very disappointing. Both breakfast and dinner were buffets with no table service at all. The food was mediocre or worse. The fried eggs at breakfast were hard and the croissants inedible. We stayed here a few years ago and expected the same standard. We would never stay again.

No air con in rooms, very warm though , no grab rails coming out of shower which I felt were needed.

Great position right on the seafront so close for evening food and entertainment. Room clean and everything we needed. Friendly staff but a bit drawn out booking in Recommended

Een fantastisch romantisch hotel uit vroegere tijden I love it.

Breakfast was fine. But being l walk with a stick walking form one side of the room to the other was hard with food or drink.

great balcony & view of the sea.

We were woken by a dog in our room. Enjoying the sound of the waves, we had left our balcony door open at night and so had someone who had a dog. Since the balconies all interlink albeit with a small barrier, the dog simply walked into our room & wouldn't leave us be. There we also lots of dogs, with owners, milling around in the hotel communal rooms and many of them barked and/or tried to fight with each other. Because of the unpredictability of some dogs, and some owners, we would prefer a hotel that has far fewer dogs in future.

The location was perfect not only for our event place but in general it was the perfect location. The staff was very considerate specifically the receptionist, and the hotel is clean and the rate per night is absolutely good. Thank you Cavendish hotel for the excellent short stay experience🙂.

Everything was good it's just that maybe the morning staff should be a bit more friendly. But all in all it was a good experience.

The room wasnt what i requetted , they told me this was because of the festavals goi g on , the bedroon or should say the sleeping area , was rediculous you couldnt get into the beed fron the side because there was no room , , the light in the sleeping area disnt work , and the dranage from the sink wouldnt empty , and the bed itself was so hard , it was like sleeping on the floor,

The location and front of house are brilliant.

The rooms were not good value for money. Behind the front exterior everything is very outdated. The rooms were not very clean, very very basic and the beds were awful and extremely uncomfortable.

Reception staff were not at all welcoming. Arrived a little early. Went in. No hello. Asked if the room might be ready early. I was told come back at 3. I asked where the bar was and she just said its closed. No information at all. I had to ask where the car park was.. My partner came in and asked if she could at least check to see when the room was done as we were both soaked from walking to the hotel. She then bothered to check and it was ready. Went to the suite which was lovely although not very clean. All smears everywhere. Couldn't connect to any WiFi. No info at all in the room. Rang reception 3 times for WiFi. No answer at all. When we checked out. Was told from the back of reception, just chuck your cards in there.. Made us feel as though we shouldn't be there. Lovely old hotel with so much character, but awful staff. Not one hello, good morning, etc from anyone

We stayed in room 104 and it smelt of wet dog when we checked out asked the lady on reception if all the rooms where allowed to have dogs in she said yes if we was told this at check in I would have not stayed as am allergic to dogs and the bed was that old it was on wheels

Breakfast was ok. Our room was very tired. Stains on walls & ceiling. Shower leaked everywhere from the shower it's self and onto the floor flooding it. The pillows were badly stained & there was a dogy smell on the one side of the bed. The fan had never been cleaned dust in the fins

Fantastic hotel! Staff couldn't have been more helpful, we stayed in the bridal sweet it was absolutely stunning, the rooms were spacious and clean with a great sea view. The breakfast was lovely, just an all round lovely vibe within the premises i would highly recommend. Great value for money we will definitely be returning in the future.

Good price for breakfast. Good option in the buffet. Room was great . Good size for a family and bathroom was clean . Hotel lounges rooms are amazing .

Staff should be more friendly. We didn’t hear a welcome to stay there. They seem to be sad people . In 4 days we didn’t have a housekeeping service . No fresh towels.

Well its like a sauna inside but very damp its run down but for me it was the rip in the net curtains and hair in the bathtub i then had to change rooms as the tv didnt work but that turned into three trips up and down to reception as the keys wouldnt work and having to search for reception staff each and every time think they was busy getting dinner

Excellent location on seafront, opposite the pier, only a short walk into town for shops etc. Room booked with seaview for which we paid extra, was good (but a bit smaller than the one we had had on previous occasions staying here). Good buffet breakfast with lots of choices. Very useful to be able to park off street in hotel yard (for an added fee).

furniture in room was a bit shabby; and beyond hotel's control that we were in a heatwave, but their requirement to keep windows closed when not in room because of seagulls made it unbearably hot. Windows only opened a short amount for night sleeping and no aircon or fans.
