Great breakfasts. Comfortable beds. Central location. Evening entertainment. Own large car park. Friendly staff. Lovely sea view. Many and varied restaurants nearby.
Crumbling building. Many areas need cleaning better. Minute lifts, only one of which working. General lack of maintenance. Poor Internet reception.
It was beautiful hotel needs a bit tlc but very good value for money
It was all good
Clean and friendly staff
The only thing I can fault is on the final day I asked about paying for parking and they said I didn’t need to and then I was fined £50 for not paying it.
Staff were nice.
Asked for a room with a walk in shower but only got a shower qubical and the entrance to the bath room was not wide enough for my wife to get in with her zimmer frame which ment I had to helper Everytime she needed to do anything in the bathroom. Also main lift not working for over two months and only had a tiny one working and the lift doors kept on shutting on my wife as she tried to squeeze into it as they gave no time for a disabled person to get in which ment I had to fight to hold the lift doors open for my wife to get in safely. You could wait up to 20 minutes to get into the lift as it was so small and all the guest were trying to use it . With all these problems we ended up going home on the Sunday three days into our holiday because it was too stressful for my wife and me . So So Disappointed with the hole experience and a waist of money especially as it was the first time we managed to have a break in five years.
good breskfast
decor needs a little update
Comfortable bed.
Lift nearly always a queue as would always only hold 2 maximum. Cups were never washed and the wash basin was cracked. Shower pressure not good.
Nothing the hotel us terrible
Staff poor, room poor for the price
Grand old lady of a hotel, location fantastic, breakfast fine. Decor a bit dated. Extremely good value for money !
Location Staff friendly
Large lift not working only small 2 people lift working Needs updating especially outside
Lovely and close to shopping centre.
The room was ok
Food
Reception. Location
The shower was terrible. Water pressure so low I couldn't rinse my hair.
Excellent breakfast. Relaxed buffet. Always plenty of well presented produce, especially the hot options. Room comfortable.
The lift was very small and claustrophobic so used stairs. Bit of a climb to 4th floor.
View & location was excellent, unfortunately first impression was bad as the exterior looked like it hadn't had a coat of paint in 20 years. Inside was clean & smart. The staff were friendly & ready to help out.
Lifts were very small & only 1 of 2 was working. Bathroom was very dated & older people do not like climbing into a bath to take a shower. Food in restaurant was very limited with only a small choice of 3 course set meals, whereas the bar had a better choice of individual courses. Room wasn't cleaned after 1st day!
Amazing stuff allways happy to help with a smile as I wos using a mobility scooter
SAFETY TO THE ROOM AS ANY ONE CAN WALK IN GO INTO THE LIFT OR UP THE STAIRS UP TO THE ROOM AND PICK THE LOCK ITS THAT ESEY AND YOUR ITEM'S WILL BE GONE.
Great location. Staff are lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Good to have parking behind the hotel.
It’s in desperate need of a deep clean and some modernising. Only 1 of 2 lifts worked and the one that did could only just fit 2 people and was incredibly slow.
Great location, great reception when we arrived . Great breakfast
£20 for one night for out dog seems a lot to pay
I had a really lovely stay at The Burlington Hotel in Eastbourne. I did have an issue with my room when I arrived, but the staff were absolutely amazing and dealt with it straight away, moving me to another room without any fuss. The staff were friendly, helpful and made me feel really welcome throughout my stay. The breakfast was also delicious, with plenty of tasty options to choose from. Overall, I was really impressed with the service and how quickly they resolved the issue. I would definitely stay at The Burlington Hotel again and would happily recommend it to others! 😊
The building itself was a little warm during my stay, but I can imagine it being lovely and cosy during the winter months!
Location was good beds were comfortable
Run down needs tlc carpet was disgusting
Great staff and great service
Nothing
The room was very spacious and having a dule aspect view it was amazing, the bed was very comfortable and having a separate shower from the bath made it so much easier for us. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I have seen, plenty of choice be it full English or cereal.
The Burlington Hotel is a grand old lady well over 170 years old and as such she is in need of a little TLC in places. the main issue was one of the lifts (the larger of the two) was not working, so moving suit cases to & from our room was difficult. There only seamed to be a gents toilet on the ground floor and no ladies toilet, the only one my wife could find was down another set of stairs which was difficult not only to find but to get to. As most of your gests are elderly it maybe something to look at.
The hotel is ideally situated on the seafront. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
None
Staff were friendly. Breakfast plenty to choose from. Position of the hotel by the pier ideal.
Only 1 very small lift working. Not enough lifts for size of hotel/or the type of guests who frequent the hotel. No hot water for shower in the morning.re
Location very good . Choices at dinner good some evenings but disappointing once or twice. Safety bars on the bath no high enough for using the shower . Breakfast very greasy . All staff friendly.
Friendly staff and a very good location right on the beach front. Shops and restaurants just around the corner . Breakfast was nice - good choice of buffet options .
Decor was a bit dated and dinner was not great ( we booked a package) with little choice and not great food .
Close to seafront
Needs a lot spent on it. Our bathroom needed a really good clean especially the skirting boards and pipes. The shower cubicle needs replacing very dirty. Carpet was badly stained. Lift was out of order. We were using the service lift which would only hold three people. There was always a queue waiting. Not everyone can walk up three flights of stairs. A lady I was talking to said it was the same the last time she came
The room size we had
Food poor quality, only 1 lift working the size so small only 2 people could get into it at a time,no entertainment ,very poor atmosphere.
Very dated felt like my room was a mental health room very bland
Location and it was a pleasant atmosphere
Things were a little dated and the disabled facilities were non existent
Location and lovely staff
Dirty. Smelt of Dog and the place is falling apart
Breakfast was great
My room smelt of smoke and weed, so I had to change to another one, further from my daughter. This one was fine though.
Great location and usually priced well, especially if there's a mobile discount. It's definitely faded glory but comfortable and the staff are nice. We generally try to stay here. I haven't had the food options for awhile but remember the breakfast being hot and filling.
The lift was out of service again. There are two, with the larger having issues. It's not great if you have suitcases or can't manage stairs. Our window required a wooden block to hold it open, which didn't allow for much air circulation.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Hotel is tired and in need of some serious updating. One lift not working and only one working. Not ideal for a Hotel of this size.
Nothing
Only 1 x lift working and other so small Stinky bathroom Asked to have towels changed they didn’t do this No shower/bath soap in dispenser Bathroom door didn’t close
My mum was disabled and you put her on the fourth floor and there was only one left working so most of the stay they waited for the lift
As always a lovely stay
All was good. Staff great
Location is great
The property is dated, however for value for money it was as expected. It was a good overnight stay.
Staff are friendly. Breakfasts were reasonable
One of the lifts was out of order, leaving one small lift that would not hold 2 people plus luggage. The rooms were not serviced. I can make my own bed but the sign in the bathroom tells me to leave dirty towels on the floor for replacements. When I called reception to say that nobody had been to the room I was asked if I had requested housekeeping? Apparently you have to ask for it now. From overheard conversations, I wasn't the only one to be unaware of this new system..
Rooms in good decorative condition. breakfast was good.
outside was in need of total redecoration and refurbishment of windows. Only one lift working which was the service lift and really could only take 2 people.
de locatie was ok, tegenover de pier, maar deze was totaal verlaten.
dit hotel is ernstig aan renovatie toe, verf, muren, ramen, kozijnen, alles valt uit elkaar. De lift is klaustrofobisch klein
Along the sea front so very convenient. Staff extremely helpful, always had a smile and very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area especially the team on reception. Drinks a bit expensive. Lunch and Breakfast very good
Only one very small lift in reception working the whole weekend which made it very difficult getting up to fourth floor. Always a queue due to this. The bigger lift has apparently been out of order for a long time so needs be fixed asap.
Staff where ok
Was very unclean email you no response from yourselves
Staff were very friendly and flexible check out.
A shame the lift was broken and the room door seemed like if anyone gave it a shove it would give way despite being locked.
Location
Room (especially bathroom) was not clean, staff attitude unhelpful "may I have some fresh milk for the room?' response 'how many nights are you staying?' while putting a couple of UHT pods in a bag. Breakfast poor and needed to request own cup which was delivered to the table.
excellent location right in front of the sea shore, and I really enjoyed the beautiful views and the convenient food huts located just outside.
My stay at the Burlington Hotel in Eastbourne was a terrible experience because the room was incredibly dirty and poorly maintained. As soon as I walked in, I noticed that the room felt neglected and deeply unhygienic. For example, the desk fan was completely covered in a thick layer of grey dust, making it unusable and a real health hazard to turn on. The bathroom was just as bad, with thick grime, dark stains, and accumulated dirt gathered in the corners under the sink in the toilet. On top of the filth, the actual structure of the room is falling apart. The paint on the doors and hinges is chipped, the skirting boards are cracking away from the walls, and the wallpaper is visibly peeling off behind the rusty radiator. It is completely unacceptable for a hotel to charge guests for a room in this crumbling condition, and I would strongly advise everyone to avoid staying here.
The Burlington was lovely hotel clean and tidy the staff is amazing even helped when needed to change rooms the breakfast was very good plenty choice Yes it’s abit dated in some areas but your not in hotel long enough to worry about it The only negative side is we was there for 7 nights and we did not have our towels changed anything was not replenished or beds changed but overall it was lovely stay
Everything
Friendly staff. Central to everything. Plenty of breakfast choice.
Unfortunately the main lift broke down and queues for the smaller one. This was obviously not the fault of the hotel and staff but just an unfortunate thing to occur.
Closeness to where we were visiting and use of car park. Good selection at breakfast
The room was a little bit depressing. Needs some updating
The location is fabulous
It's so run down and dingy. I don't think our room had been touched since the 70s the sink in the bathroom was cracked and black with dirt. The toilet seat didn't fit properly and was hanging off. You couldn't open the window and it had a huge crack in it. The fan provided was dirty and full of dust. The whole room smelled dank and dirty
Very nice staff
The Room was Clean and Tidy, Well decorated and the Furniture was Modern, I took the Self Service Breakfast and that was Very good, selection of Porridge, or Cereals, Juice, toast, and a Selection of Cooked Items. Including, Bacon, Sausage, Black Pudding, Hash Brown, Beans Scrambles Egg, Fried Eggs and a Cooked Whole Tomato, also Meats and Mini Croissants
Nothing especially the room was Clean, Clean Towels etc, only One lift worked but It was all very Good as a Base to explore from
Breakfast was good
Sadly one of the lifts was out of order so a long wait to get up to the third floor. We did, however, walked down stairs
Location really good
Bit dated
The breakfast was the only saving grace! It was excellent.
The fact that my wife’s purse was STOLEN from our room when we went out for the evening on Saturday 5th September. It was taken by someone who had access to the room via a key. Draw your own conclusions! As this is currently the subject of a police investigation I shall say no more other to advise in the strongest possible terms for any guests present and future to take ALL VALUABLES out with them whenever they leave the room. Suffice to say we shall never be returning there again!
Sea view was great, beds were clean and comfortable
The hotel was beautiful once upon a time I'm sure but like many in the area it looks incredibly tired now. The old carpet in the room made us sleep in socks, but the beds were clean and comfortable. The room was a good size and though dated the bathroom was clean and shower was good. The room did however have an a great view of the pier and it was lovely hearing the sea through the night
Excellent location friendly staff
A bit shabby. Menu a bit too limited for half board.
Breakfast was cold and not very nice only had it on one morning of our stay it let the hotel down no more I can say did tell the staff at reception and they apologised
The food it is the only thing that let the hotel down
Breakfast was great staff were brilliant and very helpful. Location was spot on. Hotel was dated but that did add to the character of the hotel. All in all a lovely stay and we would without a doubt stay there again.
The one and only downside was that there was just one lift working.
The view of the sea and pier from the bedroom was lovely
The car park was not sufficient on the second night of my stay, so I had to park on double yellow lines and keep going outside until a space appeared in the road at 9.30 pm. I'd paid for 2 nights parking when I arrived, and when I left after the second night, the receptionist was loath to give me a refund for the second night, even though there wasn't room in the car park.
The view was good.
We booked a superior double room with sea view but when we checked in we were given a standard double room with sea view. In the bathroom, the bath was so close to the toilet that it was difficult to get in and out, and in the room ‘s rubbish bin a used tea bag was stuck to the bottom of the bin. The next morning, we discovered that the mattress cover was very stained so we took the covers to reception, but they did not have a replacement cover for the mattress. They informed us that the housekeeper would sort this out in the afternoon, and we stayed in the room all afternoon, but the housekeeper did not appear. When we complained that the housekeeper had not come to our room, the hotel reception said that the housekeeper was sick and they offered to move us to a superior double room with sea view, and we had to move all our things to the new room. When we got into bed we discovered that the bed was wonky, one of the wheels on the base was missing, and so we informed reception and they promised to tell their hotel maintenance team. We had to put some papers under the base of the bed to make the bed level. We complained again, but apparently maintenance could not see anything wrong with the bed ! Also the sash cord for one of the sash windows in the room had snapped, so we had to lodge open the window with a folded magazine. The shower screen in the bathroom did not have a seal between the glass at the bottom and the bath, so water from the shower was dripping on to the floor every time we had a shower. We rectified this with some towels to reduce water spillage. The television did not have good reception, and when we were watching a film the image froze, and we could not finish watching it.
Nothing
Poky room. Small bed. Noisy. Poor view. Dreary. Couldn’t sleep
Location
Very dated in of upgrade and way too hot in the upstairs rooms, also need to up on the cleaning
311 room need to close, and not renting anymore
I'm surprised is still working
Staff very friendly nice spot
Breakfast was so good , View outside was beautiful
A little bit of dust inside the room
I love this hotel, even though its tired and needs some TLC. The food is really good and lots of variety. The staff are welcoming and very friendly, willing to go above and beyond. We are looking at our next mid week break.
The weather was mixed, nothing else.
Staff great as always, great value for money
Needs a little spruce up but great value for money.
I love this place, but it is NOT for the faint of heart. I love it for all its warts and faults, and the fact that when I stay here, I’m dropped right into the middle of Roald Dahl’s “The Witches.” It is a hotel from truly a bygone era, with the majority of the clientele also from that same era. The elevator barely works, if at all. In the summer, it is absolutely blistering hot in the rooms with no real capability of cooling or ventilating the room. The bathrooms in some of the rooms are right out of the 70’s flick “Taxi Driver”, while others were brought into the modern age recently. The beds are ok, water pressure dubious, at best. The breakfast time is brimming with entertainment as long as you posses that quirky sense of humor and copious amounts of patience. I will forever come back to this hotel as long as they do not renovate. Nowhere else can you get this level of historical cultural inculcation at such a bargain price. Splurge for a seaside view to make your stay truly spectacular.
Room, view and breakfast was good. The situation was excellent. We had a most enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The lift. Very difficult to use too small for such a lovely hotel.
The location was perfect
Television didn't work properly
I liked the people. I liked the staff who work there.
I didn’t like the smell. The hotel was very old, and the lift wasn’t working. It was very small, and one of the lifts wasn’t working.
Nothing
Old dirty rooms hotel needs updating
Staff are professional and friendly and very helpful Location perfect for all attractions
Nothing everything was perfect
The location was top notch and the staff very nice and helpful.
For the price I would have expected the room, bathroom and the overall situation of the hotel more maintained. It looked like a 1 star hotel (2 top) and the rooms were unbelievably hot. The overall areas were very rundown.
Location and clean
Lift not working for whole stay, it was not working when we stayed in spring either. Service lift working but small, when it did reach 4th floor people in it wanting to go to ground floor. Ended up taking luggage down stairs.
