The water pressure in our shower was comically low.
Pool ist toll für Kinder
Liegen sehr schmutzig, kleine Zimmer, Sauberkeit geht so, Frühstück nur mit Voucher der die Kosten nicht deckt. Frühstück sehr teuer.
Boutique vibe, aangename voorzieningen.
Te veel gasten laten afval achter aan het zwembad of nemen eten mee in het bubbelbad. Daar mag iets kordater wat over gezegd worden.
Clean, hip, great staff at bar and front desk. Good showers.
Pool filters need upgrading. Cleaning ladies would do well to knock before entering.
I think that charging $28. a night for parking in their parking lot is ridiculous.
Whenever I visit Santa Cruz, I look forward to staying at the Paradox. It's like no other hotel I have stayed in anywhere. Seriously. And it feels like home. It's the people. From the check in from Blossom who was so welcoming…to Rainbow who works behind the bar as I pull up for breakfast…who recalled me and even some of our conversations from my last trip 5 months ago to the night bartenders, Kelley and Jeffrey, who remembered our conversations about the surf scene (Jeffrey is a surfer, not me) from last visit the place is welcoming and has a consistently positive energy. There are families there using the pool and homey open feeling lobby. The rooms are revamped hotel rooms so fine but as far as I can tell a lot of guests seem to come here with their families to come here and vacation at the hotel and pool. I am consistently amazed at that energy.
Lovely rooms with modern beachy vibe. Pool was great but on the afternoon we arrived there were pool pass people ( not guests,. locals) in so was busy to start. When we left had it to ourselves!! Ate s'mores the hotel supplied by the firepit, chilled in the lovely hot Jacuzzi and stayed in the next evening till 10pm. All to ourselves again. Was heavenly. Beds comfy, 15 min walk from beach and boardwalk so don't drive!! Save parking fee!! Would stay again!! Xx
Breakfast was good but felt hurried
Expensive for a standard room
Belle deco Piscine jacuzzi très bien
Lit d’appoint très inconfortable et à ressort Drap du lit taché et pas repassé Service petit déjeuner très lent
Food was good. The pool area was nice.
Our air conditioner didn’t work and they didn’t do anything to fix it. Also there was coffee spilled in all the drawers of the dresser. We asked for a receipt upon checkout, but they didn’t email one.
It was beautiful, loved the pool granddaughter had fun. They had pool noodles for her to with. Games if you want to play, Jenga and I believe a ping ping table Jacuzzi
They have a bar, the only thing is for a small cup Margarita it was $20 for one and it was mostly ice🤨 The bed was way too soft..
This hotel, however sparkly it seems, is run by children so if you have a problem, you will be shunted from one incompetent person to another and never get a resolution.
Great entry
Rooms were smaller than expected and not connected to front lobby. Patio fireplace faced parked cars. Marketing gimmick for upgrade
We stayed at Hotel Paradox last May and had a really nice time. We showed up a little bit early and the front desk was able to accommodate us and get us into a room. The room was adorable and clean, but a little snug. We loved that the restaurant and bar opens to the outside patio and pool, its beautiful! The food is very good! we were wondering how it would be and everything we tried was very very good! Some of the best double smash burgers ( Drive Thru) we have ever had! The beef skewers were good too! What can I say about the staff? They made us feel welcomed and we got the best service! Liz, Iris and Rainbow were very kind and went above and beyond! When you are in the lobby, look for the dog treats!!! they are baked with love from a very cool staff members husband ( who is a chef ) IYKYK - our dog who is picky couldn't get enough! Can't wait to go back!!!
Good location. Easy parking. Restaurant on site.
Could be cleaner. Very loud until midnight.
Good payable breakfast.
Location.
The location
Rooms were small and toilet was noisy didn’t enjoy the pebble flooring in shower. Toilet door was loud
Nice room. Pool overwhelmed. Kids everywhere. Running around, wild. Likely better for families. Not great for couple or business. Also not a great location.
breakfast while tasty was definitely overpriced as were all meals & drinks
extended stay was double original night, deposit not released for almost 5 days and was excessive considering I'm a repeat cutomer and Genius LVL 3 on booking.com
Friendly staff and really fun, family vibes
The room was a nice size. Nice fitness and pool.
The pillows were not great according to my family. Parking was expensive and not great .
a responsive management and works to solve issues
a bit strained on the weekend
Dog friendly
Too many floaties in the pool to be able to swim Too expensive for very mediocre room Tiny fridge No microwave Very expensive drinks at bar
The property was beautiful. The beds are extremely comfortable and the cleanliness is good :) Loved the fire pit outside and that they came to turn it on fast.
I wish there was more variety of food or even a continental breakfast for the 300$ we paid the night. And we did not like we had a pay a extra pay for parking
I wanted to a quick overnight getaway and a chance to swim after a long time. This was perfect, I was initially attracted the photos of the pool, the price was right and the location looked central. I was not disappointed, the staff was friendly and helpful, the lobby and rooms cute and eccentrically decorated, and the pool and large hot tub were fabulous. What a fun place for families with kids--lots of games for them and floaties in the pool and s'more kits for a large gas fire pit. I was alone but didn't mind the kids and was able to swim easy laps at 6:30pm and again in the morning--the pool was mostly empty until 11:30am. The poolside food service looked decent as did the inside/outside bar/restaurant though I didn't partake. Downtown and a Trader Joe's are a short walk across a park and pedestrian bridge. While I was on the first floor in an area used as a walkway to get to the lobby, I didn't find it loud after 10 pm and super quite until after 8:30 am. I think the walls are thick enough....
Good location in Santa Cruz.
There was a whistling in our room coming from a leak around the window so when the door was closed the wind whistled through. People had tried shoving bits of kleenex into the fap to stop the noise, unsuccessfully. They were full and couldn’t move us. Offered to reduce the rate which I accepted but they never credited my card. Paid $247 for a terrible night. Had to sleep with earplugs.
It is always FUN staying at the Paradox! It’s a friendly place for kids and dogs. They know how to keep everyone entertained by providing games to play and homemade treats for dogs. The pool is one of my favorites.
The price during peak season.
The beds were very comfortable.
The air conditioning in our room did t work we had it worked on to no avail. You could tell the property was old and they tried to make it look new and cool it just felt dirty.
It is a Bonvoy - only reason. Chose a rate online for the free breakfast.
Loud HVAC in the room did not allow sleep. Construction on room 501 in the room next to me (ironically placed down the hall to avoid noise...) was very annoying. I would NOT recommend this
We had a great stay. The pool area was very nice, and the kids especially enjoyed the pool, hot tub, drinks, and snacks available nearby. We did not eat at the small on-site restaurant, but it looked inviting. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the shower with stone flooring was a nice touch. This is a great place for families visiting Santa Cruz. We would definitely stay here again.
In a nice location, proximity to things.
Found dirty underwear under the bed. Also neighbors blasting movies/music all night long. Paper thin walls but staff won’t help.
Everything
Nothing
Reception and foyer area was nice. Staff were friendly. The pool and gym were great and kept clean.
Given a room with an accessible bathroom which was not very clean and also the shower head over the bath was extremely low. I am 6’3” and taking a shower was painful on my knees having to limbo back under the shower head. Didn’t enjoy that part. There was enough room for a taller shower head on a longer adjustable rail. Easy fix there.
We asked to have an earlier checkin. No effort was made. We were attending a wedding and had to leave by about 2pm. I do not believe that all the guests checked out at mid day. They could have had the room ready at staggered times. Considering how much we paid we did not receive any value.
It certainly wasn't worth the $500 a night that we paid. The rooms were very basic, the beds were comfortable but there was no effort to make our stay worth even $120.

Convenience, comfort and dog friendliness!
❤️❤️💯 it is such a cute and clean hotel. I can’t wait to plan my second stay make sure you get a room downstairs with a fire pit.
The lobby, bar and restaraunt area were gorgeous. Our room was well appointed and had a nice, hip vibe. We wish we had move time for the pool but it did look quite nice.
No negatives this trip.
Location, decor
Too many children but what can you do?
Pool, nice lobby & bar, fire pit, good drinking water machine, comfortable bed
Gate at end of building near Drs on Duty doesn’t lock—people can walk in from street—no sign of security.
Blossom at the front desk was wonderful, She was kind, professional, and welcoming. They're lucky to have Blossom.
All great
The staff was so friendly and amazing! I enjoyed the pool and hot tub! Don’t get rid of your hot tub! Breakfast was quite good. Enjoyed my stay. My only comment is.. $25 for parking?!?? REALLLLY! You had plenty of parking available and I just think it’s absurd when hotels charge parking in addition. Pls don’t absorb it and raise your rates; and pls stop charging it bc honestly although I enjoyed it I’d select other hotel options that do not charge parking fees.
Parking fees!!!!!
Liked the decor, quiet room with very comfortable bed; friendly, helpful staff.
Disappointing and odd that free WiFi is not included; nearly all hotels and motels include free WiFi.
We had the pleasure of staying at the Paradox on April 12th and we had a truly wonderful visit. The hotel is fun and has a wonderful pool and unique local artwork. At the front desk we were assisted by Em and Blossom, they were both very friendly and knowledgeable. We went to the Bar the first night and came back a second night. The food was at great and at a good price point and Kelley and Rick at the bar provided very personalized recommendations. They were very personable and engaging with us and every customer at the bar. It was clear that they also recognized and connecting with repeat guests and local visitors. A truly great hospitality experience
Fun environment. Great pool. Comfortable beds.
Don’t waist your money on this place, the lobby is beautiful but that’s it. The rooms and the pool are very average, there is no breakfast included. And the paid breakfast is really sucks and expensive. They literally brought me a Chianti yogurt from the fridge and a seven eleven level pastry.
I liked that it has its own unique vibe. Good food, loved the hot tub!
The windows didn’t open which was unfortunate as the cleaning supplies had a strong smell. The bar inside is very attractive and the menu looked good.
Different cleaning products that aren’t so strong smelling.
Second time staying here and it was great again! I love the vibe (I hate that word btw) Awesome pool/bar area especially when the weather is warm. Blossom checked me in and she was great as well. Genuinely friendly and helpful. Sincerely thanking me for being a Platinum Bonvoy member. Whenever it’s in company budget, I’ll be staying at Paradox for sure
Stylish design.
I love the property. I love the bar, the pool area and everything, but I had called ahead and asked for a regular room instead of the cozy rooms and they said it would be no problem but then when I got there, it was the same room.
Already said that in the previous message
The decor in the lobby is very nice.
The rooms and the building are dated and not worth the price. The parking is expensive.
I have been asking the hotel for a statement of a stay I booked and paid for and they still have not been able to provide me it to me. I am a Marriott Ambassador member and they have not been able to acknowledge that either. Unbelievably horrible service.
Excellent value for the price. This is a converted motel, albeit with modern decor and thoughtful touches. Dog friendly - modern photography for art. The bed was very comfy, and I slept well once I pulled the curtain. Nice shampoo and a pebbled floor in the shower counterbalanced the weak water pressure. If you need an inexpensive, yet comfortable place to stay when you visit your kiddo at UCSC, this is a good option.
Location was super close to MRT and bus services which made travel across city using public transport easy. Staff super helpful. Anything we needed expedited quickly. Provider with pool pass on day of departure as we had evening flight. So we could use pool facilities and bar area. Only down side was bar food near pool. Personally we found it expensive for what was on offer and a bit limited on choices in comparison to the daily buffet breakfast which was super and varied . Nothing that would not put us off staying again. I am a clean freak and found the place spotless. Bedroom was peaceful no noise transfer from corridors or adjacent rooms.
The bed was comfy and it has a pool/hot tub for the summer months.
It’s had a renovation but the limitations are clear in layout, the old fashioned bathrooms and it doesn’t have much around it in terms of location.
Friendly stuff, good location, good pool and hot tub, dog friendly
booking.com are thieves../ plain and simple everyone who didn’t book with you paid less than half of why i paid.. u are thieves.. GFU
booking.com GFU
Relaxed and very friendly!
Can’t think of anything.
The restaurant was good food but terrible service. We were a large party, so waited 20-30 min for table expected. But then she told us we needed to get our order before 9pm bc the kitchen closes. We got order in around 8:45p. However at nearly 10 when we still had not gotten most of our food, they came out to tell 3 of us they ran out of fish. They did comp some of the food but it wasn’t pleasant. We had young kids and several people had to just leave before food came.
Food service
Great
Nothing
The staff was incredible and very kind. Everything was super clean and comfortable. Being able to park and hang out as long as we wanted after check out was great. I got to watch the 49ers beat Cleveland and the kids swam and napped. The bonus was the little holiday Faire in the lobby! Thank you!
A lot of homeless in the park behind the hotel
convenient location, nice bar area, pool looked popular with folks
hair dryer in the room didn't work and when a replacement was requested it never arrived.
I appreciate the aesthetic. It’s modern and hip compared to other chain hotels, not just in the area but across the nation. I do believe a little investment to make guest feel on vacation is the best!
friendly staff, nice location, good price on parking
no microwave available for room make it hard to keep going down to the main desk to ask to heat up food and by the time we took back to our room it was cold again.
Walking distance to downtown
Nothing
I loved how the rooms were so quiet, but you could find life outside your door downstairs at the restaurant or bar. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Rooms were super clean. And, most of all, I love the nature vibe and clean energy of the hotel - rooms were appointed with natural wood decor and soft accents and outside was filled with beautiful flowers and trees. It was a bit of a haven in the middle of Santa Cruz. It was also walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Wharf!
I have no recommendations, everything was great!
Nice room, nice swimming pool and jacuzzi. We walked to Santa Cruz board walk, was a little bit far but doable.
