Hyatt Select Galveston Beachfront

Our room was very clean, I like that you have flooring and no carpeting, everything in the room seemed to be very clean. The bathroom was very clean no bugs I woke in the middle of the night and there was no bugs lol, I always noticed that, the staff was very nice when I asked several questions and I needed a blanket and extra towels, I will surely be staying here again, very convenient location across the street from the beach.

Have to call to get a receipt for your stay if you need to expense your visit which is a waste of time and I still have not received it. It makes me think they are trying to hide hidden fees.

Our safe was broken and not replaced, they did let me put stuff in the main safe, but I thought it should have been repaced by the 2nd day, it would have been more convenient to have our stuff in our room The shower surround wall was loose and looked like it was seperating from the wall The peep hole had toilet paper shoved in it, Upon arrival the toilet wouldnt flush and the seat was broken off, they sent maintenance to repair, he did replace the seat, but it still took 3x flushing to even flush urine down. We gave up and just flushed 3x each bathroom visit. On check in we were told that 50.00 a day would be held for incidentals and as security for the property. I don't think we could have done more damage to the room than was already present on arrival.

The view and location

The toilet had a water leak and every time you flushed water went all over the floor. We had to use a towel to keep it dry. Check in was 3 and we never got a room until 4:45. They need someone to watch the kids at the pool! They are very unruly and do not listen to the posted signs about jumping and diving into the pool. It was very crowded and unsafe for everyone. We had to leave. Breakfast was very limited and cold. You would think the hot items would be hot when u get them.

It's an older property that has been updated. The rooms are small & it would have been nice to have towel bars or hooks in the bathroom. The staff is super nice. The exercise room is very nice, clean, and had a good selection of equipment. The location is great for exploring the coast.

No signage in the parking lot below and behind the hotel to indicate where to park or how to access the lobby. I ended up having to drag my luggage up a hill / drive to the 2nd floor to access the lobby. This is not ADA compliant property. The elevators and lobby areas were filthy. My room was recently upgraded and clean but I will not stay here again even though I am a loyal Hyatt customer.

Nuestra estadía fue de dos dias, esperaba limpieza de la habitacion de la primera noche, fue frustrante llegar de un dia de turismo y playa y encontrar nuestra habitacion sin limpiar. La piscina exterior realmente estaba MUY sucia.

This hotel has a great location, on the beachfront. It has Kroger nearby and close to shopping area with Marshalls, Ross, and Burlington. There are also plenty of restaurants and fast foods such as McDonalds. There is plenty of space for parking. Our room was spacious. The general manager is a friendly lady keeping everything running smoothly. An Asian girl is effective attending both breakfast and house keeping. The breakfast is just okay as can be expected by the price of the rooms. The only negative experience we had was checking in with a tall lady with glasses at the front desk. She was cold and unwelcoming, as if she was unhappy working there. Other staff were friendly and professional.

The front desk lady was very sweet and accommodating My granddaughter is scared to death of elevators and asked her if we could be on the 1st floor and she made that happen that was very sweet and appreciated ❤️

Location?

Only one elevator so cleaning crew is using same elevator. Wait times were extremely long for the elevator room was nothing what I was promised and breakfast in the morning was nothing like was advertised. Very disappointed

It was a great location and lots of eateries within walking distance. And the balcony was nice. The indoor pool was very nice and the fitness room was an added bonus.

The room was much smaller than anticipated. There were gnats in the breakfast area and in the room. Possibly from the renovations that were ongoing but not what I want to worry about while trying to grab a bite.

The refrigerator seemed not to work properly. I was suggested to change rooms but I was too tired for that.

I checked in on June 30th and it’s been horrible. I always read the reviews this time I just hope it would be better. We got a partial Oceanview Room, there is no Oceanview at all. Basically all you see is other hotels. The rooms are ok, but the smell is old. They have no iron or ironing board. I am here until July 3rd. This is the worst vacation. I am a Hilton Honors Member but they had no rooms available, next time I’ll just stay home. The Hyatt is not it.

Checking in was difficult Desk clerk did not know how to charge my card correctly for incadentals There was not enough food for breakfast if you didn't go down by 0800 there was no sausage. Juice ran out also . We were there for 2 mornings and this happened both days A/c was leaking in dinning area and a large bucket was collecting drip water with flies floating in water while we sat there trying to eat If you wanted the outside pool we had to go to hotel next door

The mattress appeared to move on the bed and was not fixed. The breakfast was lacking ; more of a continental. No lids for your coffee.

The fire alarm went off 3 times during my stay. My key card had to be reprogrammed and I was locked out of my room at 5 AM. I went to get coffee at 7:15 and there was not any and staff was still putting breakfast out. I was taking a nap at 3, someone knocked on the door and woke me to come look at the furniture in the room when I had my do not disturb tag out. It is not the hotel to go to if you are trying to rest.

AC unit would go up to 78-80 while we were gone and it was very hot coming back from the beach . And the breakfast was just okay at best.

Front desk was very nice and welcoming.

The back elevator was not working so only one elevator at the front of the building when everyone has to park in the back.

Staff was rude, they clean the rooms every other day???? What does that mean, I had to go down 3 times for towels toilet paper and my card was deactivated, it was awful air conditioner was never comfortable either too hot or too cold.

I will never stay there again.

The facility was well lit and location was very convenient to many restaurants along the Seawall.

My room was not cleaned during the day and coffee supplies were not available.

Rooms we’re not ready we wait and we have to called and checked after the time we were supposed to check in to see if the rooms were ready.

No one answers the call at reception. No one at front desk at night. The kitchen cleaning person for breakfast was rude. Room toilet was dirty.

The view wasn't so great. I expected the pool that I seen on the app would be the property itself. I didn't like I had cross the parking lot to go to the pool. Didn't not see the restaurant in the phone. Very disappointed.

Breakfast, WiFi super slow, only 1 person working during a busy time of day to so long to get checked in myself and several guest were upset. Everyone had to take stairs because either elevator wasn’t working or was to slow

Good "get away overnight" place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked having a room with a balcony where you could see the ocean.

I wasn't aware that the hotel was undergoing renovation at the time I booked my room, but the only real downfall was that you had to walk to the hotel next door for breakfast. Once the renovations are completed (which they may very well be by now), I will probably book a room again when I feel the need to "get away" for a day.

The change in breakfast they could do better for the price you paying to stay there . Waffle and Begals and toast is not breakfast.

The location is nice. It is next to Doc Hollidays and the beach. The fishing pier is close and you can walk to several places. It is too far to walk to Pleasure Pier or Murdochs.

The first room had a broken AC, thermostat, and safe. Then the closet rod fell off the wall. The second room had no working vent in the bathroom , a cracked toilet, and constantly dripping water in the shower. We tried to use the balcony but the stink of Marijuana was so strong, it made it unpleasant.

The only thing I liked about the property is that it was right next to the beach.

I disliked most things about my stay at the Hyatt. I paid over $2000 to stay there for a week. The management was rude. The staff was rude. It was dirty. The pool was filthy. There’s not enough carts to bring your luggage down. There’s a major things that need to change at that Hyatt. I tried to pay the first day. I was there with cash and they refused my money. Then on the seventh day, they called me and said I have to come pay, which is not a problem. But I’ve been trying to pay for a week and they wouldn’t take my money. The food the breakfast is disgusting. That was the worst stay in a hotel I’ve ever had in my entire life and I’m 44 years old. I do not appreciate the way they treated me. They were rude and considerate and they just didn’t want to talk to you and answer questions. So I will not be staying at the Hyatt in Galveston because they made me feel horrible. I was double charged. I checked out 4 days ago and still have not been refunded.

This was a bad experience from the moment of check in. It took about 25 minutes to even get to the front desk even though there were only 2 people in front of us. While I stood there I asked the front desk person "Lala" if there was a way to check in online because she seemed to be struggling with the people she was trying to check in at the time. Her response was "Wat u tryin to say?! I'm SLOW??" It was incredibly unprofessional and rude. I was in fact trying to offer a solution to her obvious bewilderment of basic job duties. In addition, my child was standing there and he felt nervous and that she was being aggressive towards his mom. The room was beat up, the AC was loud all night, neither one of us could sleep. There were plastic buckets in the lobby to catch leaks from the ceiling. The room also had a weird smell. I tried to email and call the GM whose card I took from the front desk (Moynassa Gonzalez) 3 times over the course of 2 days, emailed her 3 times. She did not call me when she said she would in the first email and did not answer any subsequent emails or calls. Apparently she only works from 10-4pm according to the front desk on "certain" days. Hyatt used to be a brand you could count on, gross. Needless to say I will NOT be returning.

Immediately noticed all bedding in my room was extremely wrinkled. Did not appear to be freshly laundered. One had a few brown specs. Can’t prove it, but I don’t think sheets were changed. Toilet had to be flushed multiple times for #1 with a little tissue.

Indoor and outside pool and plenty of parking

The room we got didn't have a closing bathroom door, staff helped changing us the room. The lady that did the check in didnt want to be there and was very clear at how much she was bothered that we were checking in. She didnt even want to tell us about breakfast without asking everyone in the room for her attention and basically screaming that breakfast was from x to y time. It was very uncomfortable and dont you dare to ask any question.

When booking the hotel, the website advertised an on-site bar, restaurant, and pool. Upon arrival, I discovered that these amenities were not actually attached to or located within the hotel as reasonably represented. These amenities were a major factor in my decision to book your property, and I feel the advertising was misleading. Additionally, the check-in experience was extremely unprofessional. I waited more than 20 minutes to check in, and during the process, the front desk clerk attempted to take my credit card from my hand without first explaining the charges or authorization amount that would be placed on the card. This created an uncomfortable and concerning interaction in which I would encourage you to check the cameras to review. Most troubling, however, were the conditions around the property itself. Throughout the exterior areas of the hotel, there were numerous large rats and cockroaches visible. I have video documentation of these conditions and am prepared to provide it upon request. The presence of such pests created a very unsanitary environment and raised serious concerns regarding the property's cleanliness and maintenance. The only reason my family and I remained for the night was because we were unable to secure alternative accommodations on such short notice. We checked out the following morning by approximately 9:30 a.m. and left as soon as possible.
