Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It was a nice building. The room is spacious and the bathroom is updated. However, the room decor, furniture and carpets are a little tired.
The carpet and the furniture. It was also far from Heathrow. It costed about 100 pound taxi ride.
Facilities and location in large grounds are good. Restaurant and bar service excellent.
Booking for restaurant had not registered but was resolved.
A1++++=++==
The room was clean and comfortable
Could have done with a long length mirror in the room
Nice hotel and grounds.our room being ready at 1130am
When we 1st checked in and given room in 1st fl0or,we ended up on walking in on someone as room was occupied. Coffee from machine at breakfast not nice.
Location
No full length mirror in room
Good location and parking set away from a main road with nice grounds. Very helpful staff. Very good breakfast.
The room would benefit from being freshened up.
Location and room size
Very quiet
I stayed at this hotel for 3 days, it was awful this was supposed to be a 4 star hotel bit this was far from a 4 star and more like a 2.5 to 3 star just about, all the carpets were extremely dirty and old i have included picture of stains all over the carpet in the room we stayed, the shower head in the room hardly had any water pressure and was a basic hand held one, every time I called room service calls were never answered, I was struggling with my luggage and was never offered help once with luggage and had to deal with all myself. Very unhygienic smells old building, only one positive the receptionist was polite and nothing they could do, this quality for a 4 star warrants a refund for such bad hygiene and all these carpet stains not to also mention dead fly's stuck to my curtain which I can send a picture of if needed. This booking definitely warrants a refund will never go back here again.

Ok
Breakfast was expensive for what it was and would have expected for price of rooms to be included
Beautifully located, in own grounds but a short walk or drive away from local villages
None
The staff were lovely. Outside of the hotel, the lobby and hallways were all perfect. We only had a one-night stay, arriving late and leaving at the allocated check-out time. The car parking was easy to find and easily accessible. We would consider staying here again if the price was good and next time maybe take a room higher up.
There was some confusion about the inclusion of breakfast in the price, which may have been due to the type of Booking. In the end, breakfast was not included, but the price was acceptable to us. The room itself was very large and comfortable. However, there were pipes in the wall next to the bed that appeared to activate whenever a facility was used upstairs. As we were on the ground floor, this noise was quite noticeable and did keep us awake intermittently during the night. There was no view from the room, which was not a problem for us as we were only staying for one night. However, for a longer stay, this could potentially have been an issue. We could also clearly hear the guests in the room above us. Their footsteps and the noise of them getting organised were quite noticeable, and this was disturbing at times. Overall, the room was spacious and the price was acceptable for a one-night stay, but the noise from both the plumbing and the room above did affect our sleep. there was also a light offensive odour of something in the room.
Very helpful reception team
Good location
Didn’t stay long to have an opinion
The rooms were ok
The money charged on top of the booking The breakfast was awful
Location
No lift access to first and second floor
Good location, lovely building
2 lots of stairs to get to our room. No lift!!!
Many modern luxury hotels are cleverly designed to create the impression of space, but the bedrooms and corridors are often still quite small. This hotel is genuinely spacious because of the original proportions of this magnificent historic building. The enormous high ceilings, spacious bedrooms, wide hallways, grand dining room and even the check-in area all give the hotel a wonderful feeling of space and grandeur. It feels authentically regal and full of character. The service was exceptional throughout, and the hotel was also very reasonably priced for such a beautiful place. I genuinely struggled to find anything negative to say. A rare and fantastic find that I thoroughly enjoyed.
The only thing I would change and that's just a preference. The beds were quite soft. I prefer firm.
The room was comfortable. The location of the hotel and parking was great.
Very spacious rooms and great amenities. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit.
Staff very friendly.ambience made the stay feel special.
Breakfast service was all DIY unless you asked for a pot of tea or coffee and then it arrived promptly with a smile
Breakfast was excellent and the grounds of the hotel were fantastic- great views and splendid ancient trees
Fewer aeroplanes would have been great
Good location Historic hotel Nice atmosphere Great free parking Quiet room Comfortable bed
Room was a little tired Very busy with wedding guests on both the Friday and Saturday No availability in the restaurant even though I tried to book well in advance
Just an overnight stay but an absolutely fabulous hotel. Room was large and nice to see 2 chairs instead of the usual 1, not everyone likes to lie on the bed. Nice hospitality tray selection and spotless bathroom. Took dinner in the main restaurant and couldn’t fault any of it same with breakfast-plenty of choices and HOT. One little gripe was our room was close to a wedding reception being so a bit of noise. However when you are so tired we felt a change of room wasn’t necessary and hey (hopefully) you only get married once. Talking of which as we were leaving an Indian wedding was starting, absolutely beautiful sight, wish them all the best. Everyone looked so happy.
All went well but stay not long enough to comment about the facilities, for instance!
Hotel position. Hotel ambience. Very spacial.
Bedroom 2119 very noisy toilet system throughout the night needing attention. Breakfast too expensive.
Very clean and the beds were comfortable. Lovely breakfast.
There are no stairs and not only myself but there was lots of elderly people arriving and struggling to get their suitcases up and downstairs. Our room was quite a distance from the hotel reception which involved several stairs. The sink in the bathroom was blocked and the air-conditioning was rubbish.
We had an excellent High Tea at the Oatlands Park Hotel. The dining room is most impressive in the historic building with great views all around. The sandwiches and pastries were all top quality with the finest ingredients. The service was exceptional with helpful recommendation from our waiter for their excellent strong English Breakfast tea which perfectly accompanied the meal. Highly Recommended !
**Wonderful stay with excellent service** We had a lovely stay and were very impressed with the beautiful room, which was modern, comfortable, and had a wonderfully comfortable mattress. Check-in was warm and welcoming, with a special mention to Giuliana for making the process so smooth. The breakfast served in the Mulberry Restaurant was delicious, and the service from Mahesh and his team was absolutely lovely, friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, and we would be very happy to return. Highly recommended!
I wanted to leave a special thank you following my son’s recent stay. I had contacted the hotel beforehand as he was planning a very special surprise for his girlfriend, and I wanted their room to feel extra special when they arrived. The end result was absolutely wonderful. Annabel and Sara went to so much effort preparing the beautiful room display, and the personalised sign was such a lovely touch. Everything looked perfect and really helped make an already special occasion even more memorable. I had also arranged for cocktails to be delivered to their room and, in my son’s words, the timing was “perfect”! 🍹❤️ It means a lot when hotel staff take the time to add those thoughtful personal touches, particularly when you’re arranging something special from a distance. They certainly did us proud. A huge thank you to Annabel and Sara for the care and effort they put into everything. My son and his now girlfriend had a wonderful stay and a very special memory to take away with them. Thank you! ❤️
It's very comfortable and quiet Gives me peace of mind
Hotel location, pleasent staff and good food
Location of room
Outstanding customer service and clean facilities - Greta value and I highly recommend this as local premium bar bistros on the area have overpriced themselves for much inferior facilities
Beautiful grounds and always very peaceful when we stay
Beautiful scenery
Slow checking in
We had a wonderful time at Oakland’s Park hotel as we celebrated our wedding anniversary. The room was simply stunning and the hotel was beautifully presented, with a lovely attention to detail. The staff were efficient, polite and helpful and we would like to record our specific thanks to Annabelle who went “above and beyond” to ensure our stay was so memorable. Thank you!
I was bitten badly by bed bugs when I stayed at this hotel for just one night. I've been in contact with the hotel to let them know as well as providing pictures as evidence. However I have been told that they still have not finished their inspection of the room 2 weeks later! There has been no refund or recognition that they were at any fault.
The location was close to the Brooklands museum, RHS Wisley, and Polesden Lacey, all the places we were going to with our tour with One Traveller group.
The prices were high, but it was a 4 star hotel In a lovely location.
Perfect location for a nearby event, lovely grounds with a short walk to the lake.
All very good
everything, especially the garden and delightful staff
nothing
Great stay for 2 nights Excellent team each as friendly and as helpful as the next I had been put off by the reviews on here ignore them go and judge for your Excellent value for money And to those complaining about the gardens look at the weather for heavens saku
Great location, good size room, was quiet
Carpet was very spoiled
Good location & comfortable room
View from the window was of old yard.
Everyone was nice and polite and it was a beautiful hotel overall.
The room was plain nicely decorated but nothing like the photos needed some extra attention in some places in the room such as the walls and the windows were dirty and we had a boring view of a skip… the spa was closed and the grounds were not as nice as we thought we couldn’t really walk around and enjoy them.
Clean, quiet
Everything about this hotel I loved. I would certainly recommend it. Beautiful location.
Nothing.
Location, surroundings, lovely building
Nothing
Everywhere was clean stylish and welcoming . Staff v pleasant and helpful .
Maybe a pillow menu ? Would have appreciated softer pillows as well as hard ones and a sheet as well as a duvet in this hot weather
This is review is for the Mulberry Restaurant only as we had a Sunday lunch there recently but have not stayed as hotel guests. This was a first visit and we were not disappointed. We had a phone call earlier in the day to advise that the “usual” buffet roast would be a plated meal but that was not a problem for us and the amount of food was plentiful, varied and tasty. We discovered during our visit that a large wedding the day before was the reason for reduced diners which was a shame as the large dining room had a lovely outlook but due to the few diners there was a slight lack of atmosphere. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Lovely gardens. Friendly staff. You’ll love it!
Big huge room
Breakfast buffet was awful
Lovely room and bathroom, staff excellent, and used the hotel to visit son and partner. Lovely area with fantastic town and local facilities. Didn’t have breakfast but the facilities were fine.
Nothing. Will likely use again.
The hotel charged me their additional £50 day rate despite me not spending that amount in the bar. (As an aside I am reviewing Consumer Rights Act to check this is legal). Yes! their there were various statements about this at reception but frankly you just want to check in or out quickly!! We stayed in room 3114.......the air conditioning unit 'chugged' away all night to the point at 05.00 we checked out and drove home to get some well deserved sleep. We skipped breakfast. Other issues with this room are the cheap bedding used and not what we were expecting. Found some hairs on the sheets. The ensuite bathroom floor was filthy, and my partner put towels down to avoid walking barefoot on the floor after a bath. Looks like the radiator had leaked at some point. The staff were polite and attentive but all were young or in training, no Leadership Management were in sight and my advice to the Managing Director and is venture out of your office occasionally to find out what is going on in your hotel.
Reception staff very helpful in organising an upgrade on arrival for a lake view room Bed and pillows very comfortable Good parking facilities
The hotel was pretty busy with a big wedding going on but at breakfast time staff were very slow to clear tables and the buffet breakfast was almost empty well before breakfast time ended; consequently this caused queues for food; we had to ask staff on both days to replenish the dwindling buffet and bread for toast. Owners/ Management should invest more in staff training; the staff were trying their best.
Wonderful customer service, amazing building and grounds
Very elegant
Nothing
A very grand looking place which claims 10 acres of grounds. But there seem to be private estate signs all around, and if you should want to stroll down to the lake which it borders, then bring walking boots! The grounds are, at best, tired. Our 'superior' room was actually quite small. More adequate than superior, to be honest. Breakfast is a buffet style affair with both cooked and continental options. But the cooked was at least in part cold even at 8.30am on a Sunday, an there were no rolls or other bread except that for toasting in the arthritic toaster, which on the first past left my slice completely white, and when I put it through again it was near cremated. The bar was, as usual, overpriced. Even these days I think £5 for an Orangina is a bit steep, as was £3.50 for a tiny 200ml bottle of Diet Coke. Ok for an overnight, which is what we used it for. But I wouldn't stay for longer, as I'd get a bigger room at Premier Inn.
I can see there are some good reviews though for us the experience was very different. A treat for my wife’s birthday arrival gives hope as the building is very grand, check-in was swift and our room, located on the ground floor while comfortable overlooked the car park so we had to keep the curtains closed to maintain privacy. A drink from the bar lead us to the grounds which during our visit we found to be tatty and overgrown with weeds. Meal time was a disappointment, I was expecting fine dining though the menu offered mains such as burger and chips and fish and chips, there seemed to be a lack of waiting staff and we waited a while for our order to be taken, a further 50 minutes passed when finally our starters were presented. For mains I ordered fish and chips and another 40 minutes later our mains arrived though my meal was missing the chips, both mine and my wife’s meal was taken away while they cooked the chips, our meals were returned to us cold. One of the waiting staff apologised saying there was a private function and the kitchen could not cope with the orders. I complained to reception the following day and was promised a call from the manager, Ness Sekakmia but no call was received.
Stayed here for a couple of nights over the weekend and was in the Frederick section with quite steep stairs. This is quite tired and there are black marks all over the walls around the whole area and the carpet looks as if it has never been shampooed. The bedroom was large (Executive Double - King size bed) but again, very tired. The aircon unit sounded like a washing machine so was noisy throughout the night. The shower/bathroom was really big but the overhead spout spat water in all different directions. Needs some TLC as the building and surrounding areas are very nice.
The staff and food was excellent.
The room really should have a little fridge of it's own. Also the air-conditioning didn't work very well.
Very nice traditional place, spacious room, nice patio and great park area
The morning coffee is of questionable quality to say the least
Nice old property, bedroom fine ? air conditioning good .
Check slow , no apology , overcharged , refund sorted ,
Great location for visits to RHS Wisley and other attractions. First impressions good and friendly welcome from reception staff. Plenty of parking. It would have been a very grand building however it does require some investment. The grounds could be amazing but there were window boxes and planters full of dead plants. The outside seating areas were not inviting and everything looked very neglected. However, our room on the ground floor was big, comfortable and had excellent air conditioning. The bathroom required updating and the shower was not very powerful. We had dinner twice in the restaurant which was very good. The quality, presentation and service was of a very high standard. The breakfast buffet was also good with plenty of choice of cold and hot food. All the staff were professional, helpful and friendly.
Peaceful with enormous comfortable rooms
The grounds and facilities were nice.
Didn't like a few things. Some of the staff attitude. The chef - we ordered several pizzas - under cooked and one never came at all. Cleaner open the bedroom door prior to check out. One of the rooms was dirty. They did try to rectify matters. Such a shame as we were a party of 7 and returning guest some of us.
Almost everything! It’s a beautiful old world hotel in a lovely setting.
There was a small of sewage in some places. This was there the last time we stayed there also.
This is a really lovely hotel in a great setting which, with a little more attention, could easily have been a 5* review. Our first impressions of the hotel were of the reception staff, who were wonderfully friendly and welcoming. We had the pleasure of interacting with them a few times during our stay and each member of the team was outstanding. Our allocated room for our 2 night stay (while lovely) wasn't quite what we were expecting so reception with out quibble quickly moved us to another room. The room was huge, the bed was comfortable, and the aircon was a blessing in the intense heat. The restaurant and bar staff were equally as friendly and professional, in fact every single member of staff that we interacted with was a credit to the hotel. The corridors and staircases were quite grand, the oak panelling gave a such a sense of history, and although décor was neutral, it was to a high standard and aesthetically pleasing. Now the negatives, but these are few... Firstly, the outside terrace needed a bit of gardening work, and the furniture quality didn't quite match the rest of the hotel. And secondly, the gluten free choices for breakfast could be improved, I felt a little disadvantaged after paying the same price as everyone else. This was rectified by the wonderful reception staff, so I won't harp on about it, but it's maybe something for the hotel to look into. Would we stay here again? Absolutely we had a fabulous stay and if we are in the area again, it will be my first choice!
Breakfast excellent with plenty of choice Trees and gardens splendid
View from our bedroom not very good as overlooking an untidy looking roof
Buiten zeep en shampoo was er niets in badkamer. Zelfs geen douchekapje. Ik prefereer ook een aparte douche (er zijn kamers in oatlandsdie dat hebben) ipv diuchein bad
Location, grounds and air conditioning ( it was hot!). The room was nice and comfortable apart from the comments below
Our room had etched out windows as we were overlooking a flat roof covered in ugly ducting with the constant, but not intrusive, noise of a fan. The room wasn't serviced as evidently you don't qualify during a two night stay, even though you are charged a single night rate each night. Our bathroom sink was blocked which we reported to reception. It was never fixed. On leaving we were told there were no maintenance staff on a Sunday. That wasn't mentioned when we reported it. We should have been offered another room. It's not good enough, it was not a cheap stay.
Having the air con was fantastic - the room was so cool on arrival on such a hot day! Staff and service was spot on and the ambience of the hotel was lovely.
My only criticism was that the bed was too small - we had a superior room. Also, I felt the outdoor space and patio was very neglected - maybe employ a gardener as looking out on to a patio full of weeds when dining is not the best view but overall nice hotel and would stay again.
The Hotel itself was stunning from the outside and the green space around was beautiful. The room were big and nice, but unfortunately we went there during a heatwave and the aircon was not working at all. We were offering a replace room only at 10.00pm in the evening, which is not ideal with a small toddler, so we could not change and had to sleep with windows open. When we left the room the next day and have a replace in the room there were 30 degree. The bar and restaurant were extremely slow with the food, they served before a party coming from outside of 50 people, rather than put through the order of 2 people with a toddler, so we had the food 1.5 hours later, after asking various time. The food was very low quality and lever. Unfortunately, overall I would not recommend it, as it is a bit a waste of money, despite it looks good from outside.
Bar and Restaurant were very slow and short of people and did not prioritise guest of the hotel, put the outside party. Also some rooms have a bit of a stink, maybe old pipes, while some others just did not have any working aircon. Would not recommend it on a heatwave and definitely not for family! This is only good for having a drink in the green scenic garden, nothing else, not for stay for sure. Also they did not offer any compensation for having to sleep a full day on a super hot room.
Very friendly staff
Price
It’s a beautiful building very spacious
I didn’t like the smell upstairs near the bedrooms it could do with some nice relaxing aromas
Staff very friendly and helpful
Room was a bit small but very comfortable
Quiet location Plenty of parking
Limited breakfast options for gluten free. Poor coffee
Location and parking
Room
We have stayed many times at the hotel and every time have a lovely room. This stay we were upgraded to a suite such a huge room very comfortable bed as always and nice big en suite.
Nothing everything was perfect
Nice location for brooklands and Mercedes world, building is in nice grounds but the lake view was hidden by trees. We had an executive room on the upper floor which has air conditioning and was clean although a loo brush would be a good addition. The cleaning was a bit lapse as the cups were not changed or washed and the shower room floor had paper on the floor from the day before. Food was expensive for what it was and a limited menu. The staff were all polite and helpful. Lots of parking. Good choice at breakfast. No lift when we asked but did offer a different room.
Air conditioning staff friendly
A little tired
Room basic but clean. Poor shower
My room was beautiful and huge with large windows overlooking the lake. The setting is lovely in its own parkland. Easy access to walks along the Thames
Nothing
Luxurious stay! Amazing breakfast and dinner! Staff were lovely and I was upgraded to a suite, which was superb!
Nothing
Beautiful location and hotel. Breakfast was brilliant, good options and variety
Our room was small and condensation on the ceiling and walls. Restaurant was overpriced
We booked a long weekend at Oatlands through secret escapes. There were good a bad points. I'll start with the negatives: The grounds, although lovely could do with a bit of work, ie, the window boxes you look out on in the restaurant were dead and full of weeds and the area outside needed weeding. There was a layer of dust on the shelf in the bathroom. The rain shower head was badly fitted to the ceiling. Our room was up a steep flight of stairs which wasn't easy to carry our bags and suitcase up. Some of the paintwork like windowsills and walls could do with a refresh as peeling away. Ok, for the positives: the hotel overall is beautiful. Lovely grounds to walk around in. Stunning high ceilings and original features. Our deluxe room was spacious with a comfortable sofa, large bathroom, comfortable king size bed and the air con was great as the weather was very warm. We used the air con to keep our drinks chilled too! Our deal included breakfast each morning, a 3 course evening meal each evening and a glass off prosecco each with dinner. The breakfast was delicious. Everything you could have wanted on offer and well cooked. Dinner each evening was lovely. Good quality ingredients and obviously a chef who knows what they are doing! The hake in particular was delicious! The staff are all extremely polite, professional and attentive. Big shout out to Kuba the bar tender. He was so lovely and a very talented cocktail maker! (Good luck with your new journey, the hotel won't find another as good as you) Overall we had a great stay and a good experience.
Super clean and calm
Room great size staff very accomafating
Nothing
Super charmantes altes englisches Hotel mit ruhiger und naturnaher Lage direkt am Fluss. Leckeres Restaurant.
Everything was good except the room. More like a university residence
Clean and helpful staff
The breakfast was poor due to the quality of products especially the scrambled eggs and tea
Great location and very nice surroundings Breakfast was excellent Very spacious room well appointed with everything you need
Aircon struggled to keep the room cool in recent heat wave. >30 degrees Very confusing hotel layout with what seems like a maze of corridors
The location was ideal for our family visit. Good sized room Breakfast had a good selection but not worth £21.50.
The room appeared to be very nice, with great air conditioning (very hot outside) so the room felt great. But after a couple of nights of something sticking in my back, checked to see what was causing the lumps in the mattress. On checking found the mattress very soiled and the mattress buttons had exposed plastic remaining straps sticking out all over mattress.😞 The bedroom window over looked what appeared to be delalicted buildings with windows covered in pigeon muck. Not coming back. Hotel appears very upmarket and vhigh grade from the from but very run down at the back.
First impressions as you drive in are very good. It was a very hot weekend stay. Check in was easy and efficient. The room was fine for a weekend break. Bathroom needed some amenities to make it better but all was clean and well kept. The restaurant was very good on the whole. More staff needed at busy periods and regular replacing of items at breakfast would be good. We enjoyed all the meals, felt the quality of the food was very good. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely and ideal for a walk after dinner. We slept well. The air conditioning worked very well in the extreme heat. We would return here as it’s convenient for Brooklands, Mercedes Benz and Wisley plus National Trust places. We liked it here.
Beautiful place, lovely staff , great food, amazing grounds. The room was also very inviting and air conditioned so sleep was easy in the heat. Would thoroughly recommend.
Carpets in common areas very worn
Loved the hotel very quintessential English. Lovely beds had exec room
Garden at the back needed some love
We went on a Sunday and they had lovely choice of starters like pate or smoked salmon followed by carvery with 3 choices of meat and plenty of veg. Then a variety of desserts like cream cakes fresh fruit and cheesecake. All this washed down with a glass of fizz! 😊 friendly attentive staff and grand setting
Disappointing.Service was good. Food was mediocre.Carpet needed a good hoovering in the hotel food area. Outside the back of hotel had a smashed window, weeds growing everywhere, and a small tree growing out the roof, part of the handrail was missing, replaced with knotted tied ribbon. Won’t be coming back
