Best Western Ship Hotel

Not much, staff were OK but seemed disorganised.

Hotel rooms are a little tired, but were clean. My main gripe was the oppressive temperature in the room. Even with the windows wide open, the heat was oppressive, and obviously a recognised issue as there seem to be many other reviews raising this issue, and also basic free standing fans are provided. Some of the other public areas were also stifling. And, i appreciate that the car park is privately run, but £7.50 to park my car was a bit steep.

The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, the room service was good, with fair portions & options available, & the cleaners worked hard.

There was a lot of noise coming into our room from the corridor & surrounding area (doors slamming shut, the courtyard noise echoed into the room, & we could hear the cleaners starting their shift early outside). Maybe some noise/draught excluders would help? Or asking all to keep noise to a minimum before 9am? The cleaners were very efficient with the daily clean, but I did notice that the base of the toilet hadn't been cleaned from a previous person & so this was quite off-putting. I understand the Cleaning Team has a lot to do, but maybe they could work together in pairs to briefly double check smaller details before leaving the room? At breakfast, it did feel a little bit like you were being watched, & could only have a certain amount before your plate was taken, which did make it less relaxing but I do understand that the prompt and attentive service may appeal to others. The stay was very basic overall, & I didn't feel the stay stood out to me, especially as it was for a special occassion, & would suit more someone that was staying on business I would imagine.

The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were very helpful and polite, the location was very good, the breakfast was good and compared to the prices you would pay on the main street outside, was good value for money, we ate at the restaurent in the evening and found it very good, car parking on site, you have to pay but it was reasonable

Some rooms overlook a courtyard and there is noise from people talking and drinking out there, should be a time limit, no later than 2200.

Bath took ages and ages and was not hot. USB plugs didn't work so couldn't charge anything. What a nightmare!! Room was hot due to weather. They supply a fan but no plugs next to bed so couldn't get the benefit of really needed fan. Plugs right over the otherside of room. No good!!! We stay regularly but this time very disappointed plus you now have to pay for parking in their car park. Food was good

I had a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed.

No air conditioning, we were in a family room on the top floor, in high temperatures. One small window opening an inch and one small desk fan. No one slept as was far too hot.

Parking was ok, yet not secure for private price of 7.50 a night. Rooms were nice, shame of no air-conditioning, made sleeping unbearable in the heat, plus the beds not being the best.

Would have been good to have cold running water from the sink in the bathroom instead of warm when turning the handle to cold. Could have had 2 packets of the biscuits as there were 2 of us instead of having to share one each.

The staffs....Aspecally the Bar staffs was Great very friendly and Engaging with the Punters, we come back to the bar for the Chats ... Alex n Cladia make us feel we were a Local. Our room had A/C wonderful n Clean.

It was very nice hotel for the price of it my das thought we would only get 1 child bed for a room for 2 children and 1 adult but there were 2 child beds whitch was nice I thought there would be a swimming pool because all the other hotels from thos buisness had one but overall I was a good place to stay

We had a particularly poor experience. There was a wedding party booked , which we were not told about and the experience was horrible, Staff did not care at all about our complaints. Besides that the place is tired and worn out .

Location, facilities, friendly staff, very clean. We stayed there for one night with two teenagers for a trip to Thorpe Park. It worked well for us and was the right price point for the hotel.

No electric charging point for the car. But this is a minor thing.

We have stayed here many times. Everything was perfect. Check in went smoothly, room was nice and well looked after. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

Horrific ! Our room was so Hot we had to have the door open to the hallway to get the cooler air in. Had to sleep with a cold wet towel on us to keep temp down. Requested different room advised the other rooms were of same standard / temperature unless we wanted to ‘upgrade’ to executive. Terrible customer service management not on site we emailed got no response whilst on site. Wouldn’t refund our stay when we followed up post trip. Would not recommend

Traditional coaching inn style in the heart of the town. Spacious rooms and excellent beds with an exceptional breakfast.

The layout is not suitable for everyone! Even with the lift, stairs can appear out of nowhere!

The staff were friendly and professional. The room was clean and spacious. On balance, the tariff was reasonable for a hotel that was just 1.5 miles from Brooklands, an attraction we really wanted to see.

The lift was not operating when we arrived, and we were two floors above ground level, which is a long haul for two 60-year-olds each toting a 10+kilogram bag and back packs. The room was not air conditioned and was on the highest floor, where all the hot air pooled, making for a sleepless night.

Exceptional staff - the ladies (especially one romanian lady, younger, dark hair) was very professional and we were able to move to a better room that was cooler. She was very helpful. The young barman, Alex, had a delightful and friendly manner that we were really impressed by - professiona and jolly to speak to. There was also a nice lady working in the bar/food area. Clearly someone is good at hiring staff- which is a skill in itself and rare. We would come back for sure! The courtyard to sit in is also lovely but we would wish it wasnt for smokers - but otherwise great.

Room exceedingly hot with poor fan. Fire alarm at 00:45 residents wandering the corridors not knowing what to do. Lady with walking stick unable to get down the stairs. Turned out to be someone setting off the fire alarm unnecessarily. No response from staff.

The bedrooms were very hot. i had booked two bedrooms and wanted both to have twin beds but there was no facility for booking this on booking.com. When we arrived and found my son and grandson would have to share a double bed no attempt was made to help with this situation.

Room was extremely uncomfortable at night, due to the very hot weather and only a small desktop fan in the room. I received a £50 charge on my credit card, with no communication as to why. I called the hotel, to be told that it was for a ‘deep-clean’ of the room. Not happy with this (we only slept in the room!), I enquired further, to be told that the ‘deep clean’ was for ‘talcum powder’ on the floor!!! It is possible that some talcum powder residue was on the floor following my wife having a shower, which is easily vacuumed up in a normal vacuuming of any floor. One would think that vacuuming of the floor is standard procedure after every patron leaves!!! This is a first for me at any hotel, ever! We are disgusted and feel violated by this

The lady who booked me in at 4,30 what's the most miserable person I've ever met but that was nothing compared to the dirty water coming out of the hot and cold water. Don't be fooled when you run a tab it looks good. Just run your tap into the bath with the plug-in. Its awful! I have photos of the water please see

Location of the hotel in the centre of Weybridge meant you could walk to everything. The staff at the reception were very polite and helpful

Firstly they have started charging for the car parking. We felt that as a guest at the hotel it should have been free (anyone can use it). Last time we came it was. The room was very tired as was the bathroom. No water bottles. One set of towels (we did eventually find another set in the wardrobe). Very poor products in the bathroom. We felt for the price we paid and comparing it to other places we have stayed it was very much the poor relation. The bar was barely staffed and the tables in the courtyard remained dirty all the time we were there.

It’s starting to look a bit dated and the rooms are extremely hot

The hotel was clean but there was that bowls club smell throughout with rotting rear doors and that sort of crossroads feel. It’s only a 3 star and wasn’t crazy expensive but it wasn’t a pleasant experience at all. Don’t expect any extras like a phone. The staff were as accommodating as they could be but the room was boiling, so suggest you get some ice from Waitrose next door as ice buckets for water and wine could not be provided. The bathroom was very clean. Overnight parking is charged for which was a surprise in a small town like this. Was glad to leave to be honest.

It took about 3 minutes for my shower to get hot I ordered food from the bar last night. Two starters the chicken strips were well overdone and the chicken thighs were tough and I do mean tough. I left most of it

The air conditioning unit periodically (approximately every 15 to 20 minutes) made a loud noise that disturbed our sleep. We raised it with reception but due to it being a Sunday there were no maintenance men on duty to review so this meant another night of noise or intense heat.

Grosses Zimmer, bequeme und saubere Betten und eine Dusche aus der genügend Wasser kam. Das heisst was in England! Gute Bar und ein schöner Aussenplatz.

Immer diese alten Spannteppiche...... und leider konnte man die Fenster in der Nacht zu wenig öffnen, es war daher sehr heiss im Zimmer. Der Empfang dürfte etwas netter sein!

I feel it is wrong to charge paying guests to park. It used to be free. Most hotels with their own carpark allow people to park free if they are staying. Also we wanted food on Saturday evening and were told the kitchen was closed for 'technical reasons'. We asked if we could bring a takeaway meal into the bar and were told no. We were forced to go out as a result. Very disappointing.
