Maldron Hotel Derry

Shannon the receptionist greeted us warmly and was very welcoming. The hotel has accommodated my requests in terms of my health and couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel was clean, warm, the room was very spacious and it was central to the city. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of options. I would definitely recommend.

I couldn't fault anything about the hotel. It was great.

Rooms could do with a refresh

Reception staff on both days were very friendly and helpful including giving us a map and booking us on a tour. We were able to use the hotel carpark which was appreciated.

The room is a bit worn and felt quite basic, more of a 3 star. We also had a room right by the aircon vents which were noisey.

Bed was comfortable and though the first room down the hallway from the elevators, it was quite. Nice comfortable room. Located well by the city wall with lots of restaurant offerings just through the gate across the street.

It did not have an in room refrigerator. It was a bit stuffy when we first arrived and we cracked the windows. Then, we found the AC control. If you get 2 keys, you can leave one in the card reader to operate things while you are gone. Also, while the hotel is nonsmoking, you have to get through all the smokers just outside the door. That is true of all of Europe it would seem.

Hotel location is excellent, next to City walls and near centre of the old city. Great for sightseeing in Londonderry/Derry.

We had a problem with the heating in our room that took some time and persistence to get fixed, but once that was dealt with we had a very comfortable night. the breakfast was was excellent, a wide choice of things to eat.

Great Location in the heart of the city. Close to the historic walls and local nightlife plenty of bars and good places to eat.

Das Hotel ist mitten innerhalb der alten Stadtmauern, Pubs und Bars sind fußläufig zu erreichen. Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Parkplätze gibt es in der Tiefgarage oder an den angrenzenden Straßen.

Eine richtige Dusche hätte ich bevorzug. Es gibt eine Badewanne mit Duschvorhang.

No help nor offer of help with luggage on arrival. Buffet breakfast on first morning very dry, kept warm for too long. Much better second morning.

Breakfast was a little cold,but we were there nearer the 10 o clock finishing time.

It was clean. Location had pros and cons but overall the cons outweighed the pros. Pros: centrally located so easy to see sites and eat out. Other good things about the property were the great breakfast buffet.

Cons: so very noisy at night with kids racing their cars and revving engines. All. Night. Long. Then in the morning the street cleaning truck was making so much noise we were unable to sleep. Other cons were that when we checked in, we were told to go move our car then return. Ok. That is reasonable. Only we were not even allowed to unload luggage. We were directed to a parking lot a short distance away and I was told it was free overnight and the next day and quote: you don’t need to pay. Don’t pay. When we returned the desk staff was new. I double checked re free parking and was told I did need to pay until 6 or I could be fined. So we had to go back to the lot to pay. Mixed information.

Super Lage des Hotels mit Parkplätzen (wenn auch sehr eng und schmal) inbegriffen. Frühstück war ok und alles verfügbar. Zimmer sauber und mittlere Größe, allerdings ein Durchvorhang ist wohl nicht mehr angebracht. Grundsätzlich das Hotel aber empfehlenswert, auch wegen Preis/Leistung.

I paid ahead for breakfast for all 7 of us through booking.com, and they had difficulty finding the record of that being pre-paid. They had the hotel charges paid, but not breakfast.

Brilliant location for exploring Derry, right beside the city walls. Lovely staff. Rooms are spotless and beds are really comfortable.

Location was excellent, right next to the city walls and close to the start point for the murals walking tour (the reason for our visit). Staff were excellent- very friendly. Used the restaurant for evening meal and bar for drinks, both good. Got free parking space in the underground carpark (optional donation to air ambulance) and staff let us leave the car after checking out while we did our walking tour. Room was huge and very comfortable. Price excellent - we did a 9 night road trip around NI and this was the best but the cheapest night's stay we had!

Great location right in the centre of Derry close to all shops bars and restaurants. Underground secure car park, good breakfast.

No air conditioning, so windows open to try and cool room however lots of street noise until middle of night with people shouting and cars reving their engines etc.

Fantastic location, less than a minute walk to the City Wall and Waterloo Street. Walking distance to the majority of Derrys’ attractions. Breakfast was great, lots of options. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room itself was comfortable and clean. And free car park is a bonus.

Expensive for what you get .we paid £28 pounds per day extra for breakfast which when we thought was excessive after experiencing it.. we then found out that the hotel offered others in our party the same for £10 per person per day which was £8 per day cheaper than us..we have stayed here at the same time for the last 5 years and this year there was a noticeable decline in service and more expensive.

I recently stayed here and had a pleasant stay and was delighted with the service from the minute I walked in the door all the staff I met were friendly and very helpful, Shanon from reception was very attentive and friendly, there was an underground car park which was convenient and had plenty of spaces when we arrived, we had dinner in the hotel and a few drinks which were all amazing and the lyric bar is lovely and the 2 lads working the bar were amazing, breakfast included a buffet which had everything you could want for breakfast and all the staff were very hard working and kept a high standard of work throughout my time in there, Joe Calum and Amy were very good at ensuring the breakfast ran smoothly and were very friendly to talk to, the room was as spotless and I was speaking to a housekeeper who’s name I didn’t catch but was also lovely, the stay overall was exactly what we needed and I will be back

Il vero punto di forza è senza dubbio la posizione: l'hotel si trova all'interno delle mura di Derry, nel cuore del centro storico, e permette di raggiungere a piedi tutte le principali attrazioni della città in pochi minuti. Per visitare Londonderry è davvero una scelta ideale. Un altro aspetto molto apprezzato è il parcheggio privato. I posti non sono molti e vengono assegnati in base all'arrivo, quindi non sono garantiti a tutti gli ospiti. Noi siamo stati fortunati a trovarne uno e la comodità è notevole: dal parcheggio si accede direttamente all'hotel tramite l'ascensore che conduce alla hall. Il personale merita una menzione speciale: tutti estremamente cordiali, disponibili e professionali, sempre pronti ad aiutare con il sorriso. La camera era ampia, ben arredata e molto confortevole. Pur essendo situata al primo piano, offriva una splendida vista sulle mura di Derry e sul panorama circostante, un dettaglio che ha reso il soggiorno ancora più piacevole. Letto comodo, bagno funzionale e ambienti ben tenuti: tutto ciò che ci si aspetta da un buon hotel. Anche la colazione ci ha soddisfatto. La parte salata è quella tipica degli hotel irlandesi, con i classici prodotti della colazione tradizionale, mentre il buffet dei dolci è risultato più ricco della media, offrendo una scelta più ampia. In conclusione, è un hotel che consiglio senza esitazione a chi desidera visitare Derry senza utilizzare l'auto. La posizione centrale, la qualità delle camere, la gentilezza del personale e la buona colazione lo rendono un'ottima base per scoprire la città.

En realidad no me emociono nada, un hotel simplon, en el que nos dieron una habitacion que miraba a la cubierta de instalaciones y con una paca de polvo impresionante, los accesorios y azulejos del baño llevavan meses sin limpiar.

Todo, solo salvaria un poco el desayuno.

From the moment we arrived at reception Kadie meet us with the most fabulous smile I have ever seen and made us feel so welcome from the very start Kadie checked us into the Eleonor suite which was a huge room with our very own living room and a great view of the Derry walls, we left our bags and headed down for some food we ate in the bar and I think the young girls name was April sorry if I got this wrong but the service we got was second to none its as if she had knew us for a lifetime which is so rare in hospitality and the food didn't disappoint either I had the prawn pilpil to start and my wife had the chicken wings great sized portions and cooked to perfection big shout out to the chef pilpil was the best I've ever had , for the main I had the fish and chips which again great portion and the batter was lovely my wife had the bang bang salad which she said was delicious , next morning it was time for that great Irish fry up and again the Maldron Derry did not disappoint , guys truly you all made our 2 days wonderful we have never been so relaxed and we cant wait to come back again!! The hotel was clean and easy to get to. We had everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect for us, close to the theatre. Food was excellent. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, they are friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. So considerate of my autistic sons needs and preferences. Big shout out to the kitchen staff Dani and Jonny, I feel bad for forgetting the lovely, helpful receptionists names, and I didnt get the friendly housekeepers name either but thank you everyone at the Maldron Hotel Derry!

No air conditioning but hey it’s Ireland and unusually hot.

Posizione dell'albergo molto comoda, è stato possibile visitare le aree turistiche senza l'utilizzo di mezzi pubblici. La stanza che ci è stata assegnata, seppur "essenziale" era molto spaziosa, pulita e silenziosa.

La stanza che ci è stata assegnata aveva un bagno con vasca da bagno e tenda da doccia impermeabile in plastica, assolutamente poco igienica, ricettacolo di germi, tenda che muovendosi a causa dell'aria calda spesso finiva per aderire sulla pelle del cliente provocando enorme repulsione. Abbiamo chiesto alla reception di poter visionare un'altra stanza, ma era disponibile soltanto una suite con una doccia in vetro molto piccola. scomoda e limitante nei movimenti. Segnaliamo che Il parcheggio auto dell'hotel è molto piccolo a talvolta parcheggiare diventa faticoso soprattutto se si è in possesso di un'auto grande (fortunatamente non è stato il nostro caso in quanto abbiamo noleggiato un'auto compatta). Deludente la colazione, almeno quella consumata dai noi alle 8 del mattino, in quanto una comitiva aveva appena terminato di fare colazione, era completamente terminato il cibo a disposizione (toast, marmellate, succo d'arancia,croissant) senza essere rifornito da parte degli addetti di sala, almeno per i restanti 30 minuti.

I had a perfect stay at the Maldron Hotel in Derry. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. The room was spotless, spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hotel's location is excellent, making it easy to explore the city on foot. Breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options, although some hot items could’ve been a bit warmer. The overall atmosphere throughout the hotel was friendly and inviting. Everything exceeded our expectations and I would happily stay here again. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Derry!

We loved the location inside the old city walls. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely.

I was content with my room as I booked a small double for one person, however, it would have been better if the double bed mattress was on a double bed base. It was in fact on a king-size base. This made the base wider than the mattress. The problem was that the divan base (similar to many divans) was in two halves connected together by a latch on each side of the bed. Each time I got in and out of bed my shin knocked against the metal latch where it protruded.

The breakfast wasnt great, hot food was quite cold. Coffee wasnt nice, sink in bathroom didnt drain properly, took out the plug and the plughole was full of gunge and black mould, so was around the taps in the bath

Parkplatz nur begrenzt verfügbar, wir mussten 10 min gehen. Zimmer sehr hellhörig und nicht verdunkelbar. Es ist um 5 uhr morgens hell , schlafen unmöglich. Wir haben mit Polster und Decken alles halbwegs verdunkelt. Musik vom Pub außerhalb sehr laut. Betrunkene Gäste am Gang auch laut.

Excellent location inside the gates and helpful staff.

Parking is not ideal (what they have was full and difficult to find) and no real temporary pull-off to unload. Plan ahead your navigation to a public lot. Room was warm. While it is not uncommon that there is no air conditioning, together with parking the price is only fair value.
