Divan Istanbul

Excellent location, within a short walk of bus routes, the metro line, and the tram line. You are also close to the shops and plenty of restaurants in the vicinity to choose from, but be cautious, as they tend to be too touristy at times. The hotel is so quiet until you step outside, and you find yourself in the middle of a buzzing city with lots of activities. Rooms are spacious, clean, comfy, and well equipped. No matter which side you take, you are left with a great view from the room. Our room was near the lifts but we never felt any noise from other residents, plus no waiting for the lifts like in other hotels. We did not try hotel restaurants as I am familiar with the city and we always went out to explore different areas and options. There is valet parking at the hotel and you can also park yourself if that's your preferred option which is what I did.

The breakfast bar is good and reasonably priced when compared to other hotels. If you need special eggs, an omelette, or special coffee like a cappuccino or Latte, it is chargeable. It's a good breakfast if you are looking for something light to kick-start your day, and it has everything you need. What let us down was the lack of attention to detail, like missing cutlery to use when picking your food. For example, guests would move serving cutlery from one dish to another, which is an issue if you have allergies. The Spa is located on the basement -3 floor, and the pool water temperature was 28 degrees but felt colder. You have to keep swimming; otherwise, you get cold in the water. There is no jacuzzi; the one they have is more like a fountain in the pool that connects to the main swimming pool and is the same temperature, with no extra jets around the seats other than the main fountain in the middle. There is no sauna or steam room, but you can opt for a massage if you wish.

The staff are very friendly and polite, tended to every request even the odd ones. Our stay was comfortable and clearly 5 star. All the food was the pinnacle of Michelin. Abdurrahman and his team were especially great, they even offered much assistancefor our newborns needs, full marks. This is our third stay in 3 years and will come again. Thanks to the excellent staff.

The only thing I don’t like it’s was night club under and they were loud until 4:00 a.m.We requested to switch with another room and they transferred us on the same side but on the 10th floor we still heard the music coming from downstairs but it’s was less .Over wise our stay was enjoyable!

Удобное местоположение, стильные интерьеры, хорошая косметика в душе. Хорошие кровати и постельное белье. Много шкафов для одежды. Розетки расположены там где нужно. Кондиционер комфортный. Персонал дружелюбный.

В отеле за эти деньги не хватало зубных щёток, ложки для обуви. Мы ехали с ручной кладью, и рассчитывали на предметы гигиены в отеле. Очень не комфортно ночью идти на улицу на поиск зубных щёток. Полотенце на ребёнка не положили. На семью из трех человек было 2 больших полотенца и 1 (!!!) маленькое. На проводе у фена в нескольких местах порвана изоляция - было страшно сушить волосы. Нет места, чтобы нанести макияж, везде темно. На макияжном зеркале не работал свет. Дверь в туалет не запирается совсем. Завтрак недешевый, но не очень хороший. Было ощущение, что на нас экономят. Мы ожидали большего за эти деньги.

We were on a family trip with my parents. The staff were friendly and helping. Shafa was especially helping, she explained everything for us and suggested we whattsapp her if we have any questions. Rooms were clean and big. The pool and sauna were amazing.

Επίσης στην καθαριότητα των δωματίων θα πρεπει να υπάρχουν γυναίκες που ξέρουν απο λεπτομέρειες καθαριότητας.

The hotel is in a great location, although the area around it can be quite busy. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was excellent.

For a five-star hotel, the facilities are somewhat limited. The restaurants also lack variety when it comes to food options. The hotel is quite expensive, and considering the price, I don’t feel it offers good value for money. However, it is still worth experiencing at least once.

A solid choice if you want to stay near taksim. Staff makes a difference as they are all very kind and helpful, they do their best to make sure you have a comfortable stay. Hard product is a bit old though, we stayed at family room. Although everything is clean, hotel could see a renovation on old looking carpets and some of the furtniture at least. some of the competition is far ahead and it seems divan is neglecting an update. its been over 15 years since the rebuild of the property.

As a frequent international traveler—for both business and family holidays—I regularly stay in five-star properties, predominantly across the Middle East (UAE) and Asia (e.g., Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur). This background gives me a solid benchmark to objectively evaluate and compare hotels within this segment. On paper, the Divan Istanbul meets the baseline criteria of a five-star hotel. The true distinction, however, lies in the details and the overall guest experience. Location and Arrival The Divan Istanbul is strategically located in the bustling tourist hub of Taksim, technically within the Şişli district, and is surrounded by various other luxury hotels. IST Airport is roughly a 40km drive via the highway. While the hotel offers a shuttle service for convenience, guests can easily navigate on their own using the readily available public transport options, including the metro, buses, taxis, or a rental car. Note that there is no free parking available at the property. Location-wise, Istiklal Street is within short walking distance, while major sights like the Galata Tower, Kabatas ferry, and Eminonu Square are easily accessible on foot. Upon arrival, we briefly worried that the hotel might be a relic of faded grandeur, particularly when we were completely ignored at the check-in counter for a minute or two. The lone receptionist was deep in conversation with a colleague standing in front of the counter. Although both clearly saw us, we were left standing there feeling a bit lost until a bellboy proactively stepped in, took action, and requested our passports (along with those of another waiting family). Fortunately, during the remainder of our stay, the reception team proved to be attentive and highly accessible. The lobby itself is not overwhelmingly large but is beautifully decorated. It functions as a lush, cosmopolitan reception hall where modern Western design seamlessly blends with Eastern warmth. The undeniable eye-catcher of the lounge is the collection of enormous, striking glass chandeliers that lend a glamorous ambiance to the space, which flows effortlessly into the lavishly furnished and comfortable Lobby Bar. The Room Since we were traveling as a party of three, we anticipated a standard room with an extra rollaway bed. Instead, we were delighted to be allocated two connecting rooms (rooms 211 and 212). This arrangement provided us with a spacious main room featuring a comfortable seating area, an entire private room for the third person, and the added luxury of a second bathroom. The accommodations perfectly combine classic five-star grandeur with smart modern comfort; notably, you do not need to slot a keycard into a wall switch to activate the electricity—everything just works. For those needing to get some work done, there is a well-maintained, large desk complete with high-quality writing paper and a classic pencil instead of a standard pen. Both rooms feature highly effective air conditioning, though the units were a bit loud at night. The beds were large and comfortable, equipped with double pillows. Interestingly, the layout features three separate telephones—one on the desk, one on the nightstand just 2.5 meters away, and one in the bathroom. Perhaps this is the hotel holding onto its old-fashioned service philosophy: ensuring a guest never has to take more than two steps to reach staff assistance. Admittedly, the view was less inspiring, looking directly onto an adjacent building, but you cannot have it all. We also noticed an occasional minor spot on the carpet, which is to be expected with heavy use in a popular hotel and was certainly not bothersome. In fact, there was surprisingly little wear and tear overall. While the windows are thick and double-glazed, some city noise from outside remains audible, though this is likely less of an issue on higher floors. Bathroom and Aesthetics The bathrooms are marble oases of comfort that perfectly blend functional luxury with an eye for detail. They feature a solid shower head entirely free of limescale, boasting excellent water pressure. The walk-in shower is thoughtfully designed with a non-slip floor, a convenient built-in seat, and ample space for personal grooming products, though the absence of washcloths was noted. The attention to detail regarding amenities was highly impressive. The space is seamlessly integrated with practical extras like a precise scale, a clothes brush, plush bathrobes, and thick towels (though towel thickness tended to vary slightly from day to day). I was particularly surprised by the premium quality of the dental and shaving kits; the latter uniquely included a proper, decent-sized can of shaving foam rather than a cheap, single-use sachet. For peace of mind, the bathroom also includes an emergency pull cord. Breakfast Breakfast is served on a well-maintained, clean indoor and outdoor terrace offering high-quality food. Instead of excessively large, overwhelming display platters, the buffet features just the right amount of food with continuous refilling. Because of this, the various breakfast stations always look freshly prepared, a process closely monitored by the chefs. There is no live egg station; instead, everything is made to order and served directly at your table. A standard omelet or fried egg is included, but premium options like Eggs Benedict incur an extra fee, which also applies to espresso and cappuccino. Remarkably, only standard filter coffee and tea are complimentary. Furthermore, if you choose to dine outside, the staff does not actively inform you about the made-to-order egg options. Ordering on the outdoor terrace requires guest initiative; the staff does not actively approach tables and can seem more preoccupied with clearing and resetting tables. In my opinion, the restaurant area appeared slightly understaffed. Additionally, the team does not always possess a strong command of the English language. For instance, ordering eggs "sunny-side up" or "over-easy" proved to be quite difficult. When ordering coffee with a sip of milk, you are somewhat at the mercy of the waiter’s personal interpretation; on some occasions, they would add milk on their own initiative, spontaneously serving a Latte instead. Overall, while it is a good, luxurious breakfast, you must be prepared to actively catch someone's attention after a brief wait. Conclusion In conclusion, Divan Istanbul expertly bridges the gap between classic five-star grandeur and modern functionality, making it a highly reliable base in the heart of Taksim. Despite an initially disappointing first impression at check-in, the beautiful lobby design, the excellent amenities, and our fantastic room(s) easily made up for the rough start. The terrace breakfast experience is fresh and high-quality, even if currently held back by a slightly understaffed service pace and minor language barriers. Ultimately, minor drawbacks like a lackluster view and faint street noise do not overshadow what remains a highly comfortable and well-maintained stay. A special kudos to the Indonesian housekeeper who always kept our rooms absolutely spick and span—bravo!

We could not have asked for a better Istanbul hotel experience! We considered the Four Seasons, the Ritz Carleton, Pera Palace and the Intercontinental but the Divan came highly recommended by the agency arranging our guides and transportation and we we liked the idea of a locally owned hotel rather than a corporate chain. And despite it’s designation as a 5 star hotel, it was significantly less expensive than any of the other hotels we considered. The location, less than a 5 minute walk from Taksim Square was excellent. Directly across from the Grand Hyatt. Our room, overlooking the Golden Horn, was very large. The bathroom had a fantastic shower with a bench and lots of counter space. Food was outstanding. We hadn’t planned to eat dinner at the hotel but street closures throughout the city one night prevented us from getting to the restaurant where we had reservations. We ate on the patio of the casual restaurant and had a remarkable meal. The added hotel was the private room Turkish bath in the spa. We think we might have been the only Americans there - definitely caters to European and a more Mediterranean clientele.

The atmosphere in the hotel itself was amazing. The rooms were clean, and the service was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and attentive, especially Batuhan who helped us around! I hope we visit again.

Останавливались в этом отели первый раз. Ранее всегда бронировали сетевые отели в Стамбуле. Но отель Divan превзошел все ожидания! У нас был забронирован номер стандарт, но при заселении нам сделали апгрейд номера до семейного двухкомнатного, да еще и с частичным видом на Босфор. Завтрак вкусный, разнообразный. Весь персонал - просто отличный. Во всем отеле чисто и царит теплая доброжелательная атмосфера. Спасибо за прекрасные три дня, проведенные в вашем отеле. Обязательно вернемся!

El desayuno es muy bueno, pero lo que está incluido con la habitación es de calidad estándar. Cualquier otra cosa (por ejemplo un café con leche bien hecho) hay que pagarla a parte. Para ser un hotel ***** queda sólo un poco regular. Pero esto no es algo que me haría no volver en absoluto.

War alles super, wir kommen wieder.

The location is excellent with Tasim Square, shopping and the Metro within a 2 minute walk. We enjoyed breakfast and all the great facilities that the hotel offers, gym, spa, pool and Turkish bath. The hotel also has 2 restaurants and an awesome private bar area as well as a nice outside dinning area for breakfast, lunch and drinks. There is also an ice cream bar for the kids. The bathroom kits are really nice and comes with tooth brushes, shaving cream with a razor and refreshing soaps ect...everything you would expect from a 5 star establishment. We chose an adjoining suite as our kids were with us and this was great as there was plenty of space to be together but still have our own separate space. Rooms are very well appointed with mini bar, assortment of chocolates and other snacks but it is very expensive. There was also complimentary Illy expresso coffee and Turkish teas. The bedding and pillows were supper comfortable and the suite bathrooms were spacious with great showers.

No refreshments or water at reception on arrival as it was quiet hot. Otherwise excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at Divan Istanbul. The hotel is elegant, exceptionally clean, and in a perfect location within walking distance of Taksim Square. The staff were always welcoming, professional, and eager to help. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and well maintained, and the breakfast offered a great variety of delicious options. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Honestly, there was very little to dislike. Everything met our expectations, and the overall experience was excellent.

Unser Aufenthalt hat uns rundum überzeugt. Die Lage des Hotels ist hervorragend und ideal, um die Stadt zu erkunden. Das Gebäude selbst, das stilvolle Ambiente der Lobby sowie unser Zimmer mit Bad, Aussicht und der tadellosen Sauberkeit haben einen ausgezeichneten Eindruck hinterlassen. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir den außergewöhnlich guten Service. Sowohl das Valet Parking als auch das gesamte Personal waren jederzeit freundlich, professionell und aufmerksam. Den Pub des Hotels kannten wir bereits von früheren Besuchen und wurden auch dieses Mal nicht enttäuscht. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm und die Speisekarte bietet eine gute Auswahl, einschließlich abwechslungsreicher vegetarischer Gerichte. Restaurant und Frühstück haben wir dieses Mal nicht gebucht und können diese daher nicht bewerten. Vom äußeren Eindruck wirkten jedoch auch diese Bereiche sehr hochwertig und einladend.

Im Grunde gab es nichts Wesentliches zu beanstanden. Es gibt lediglich einige kleinere Anmerkungen: Die Badezimmertür war nicht ganz sauber justiert und klemmte beim Öffnen und Schließen etwas. Nachdem wir dies gemeldet hatten, kümmerte sich das Personal umgehend darum und behob das Problem schnell und unkompliziert. Beim Duschen kann Wasser durch den Spalt an der Glastür nach außen gelangen, wenn der Duschkopf auf die Tür gerichtet ist. Aus unserer Sicht wäre eine vollständig abgedichtete Duschtür praktischer, damit kein Wasser auf den Badezimmerboden gelangt. Das Hotel liegt mitten im Ausgehviertel mit zahlreichen Bars und Nightclubs in unmittelbarer Nähe. An einem Samstagabend fand im Garten des Hotels gegenüber eine Hochzeitsfeier mit lauter Musik bis spät in die Nacht statt. Anschließend war noch Musik aus einem der umliegenden Nightclubs zu hören. Die Fenster sind zwar gut schallisoliert, können bei sehr hoher Lautstärke jedoch verständlicherweise nicht sämtliche Geräusche vollständig abschirmen. Wer einen besonders leichten Schlaf hat, sollte die lebhafte Umgebung bei der Buchung berücksichtigen. Gute Silikon Ohrstöpsel helfen da auch weiter :-)

Cet hotel est une excellente surprise! Il est bien plus beau que ne le laissent suggérer les photos sur booking. Le personnel est très bien formé et très courtois. Le petit-déjeuner est excellent. La plupart des aliments sont de bonne qualité Les chambres sont spatieuses et joliment décorées A quelques minutes à pied seulement de la place Taksim, mais suffisant en retrait pour être au calme.

The location is absolutely excellent. The staff are outstanding, highly professional, and very welcoming. The rooms are spacious, bright, and clean, with a very comfortable bed. Overall, everything was beautiful and perfect.

Unfortunately, during our stay, the swimming pool was closed due to maintenance.

Always a pleasant experience here at Divan . Especially from the breakfast team Tutku hanım and Tayfun bey make the day soooooo wonderful when you start your day with such welcoming service . No need to mention the room service and the evening service when they come with extra towels and house slippers .this is the place that makes you feel special put a smile in your face 7/24.

Room: clean and well kept throughout our stay, thanks to the housekeeping lady who looked after our room with genuine care and attention. That said, the tea bags were never replenished and, for a five-star hotel, I would have expected a coffee machine in the room. Positive notes: the bell desk attendant and the housekeeping lady — both consistently kind, warm and attentive to us and our dog. They were the only two people who showed the level of service one would expect at this address.

The main problem: I had to argue three times over two days with the front desk about the terms of my booking, which already included the pet stay fee. They insisted on charging me again, and only after confirmation from their own reservation desk did they finally acknowledge I was right. Having to defend the terms of a confirmed booking is unacceptable. Pool: closed for our entire four-night stay with no explanation. No staff member could tell us why or when it would reopen. We had booked specifically counting on the indoor pool for the hot summer days. Spa: frankly shameful service. 95 euros for a 30-minute hammam, without even the offer of a çay at the end of the treatment — a basic gesture of hospitality in Turkey — yet with an additional 500 TL service charge on top. Guests with pets: no indoor F&B area accepted our small poodle (curious, considering cats roam freely everywhere). When we sat in the garden for breakfast, the staff were rude enough to ask whether we were actually hotel guests.
