Baeren Hotel, The Bear Inn

We loved our stay at Hotel Bären. It was very quiet, and our room was large and spacious with an extremely comfortable bed. The location was excellent, with a bus stop just a two-minute walk away and the Schynige Platte railway nearby, providing easy connections for day trips around the region. A helpful tip is to ask for your guest pass before you arrive. This allows you to take the bus from Interlaken to the hotel for free and continue using the local buses throughout your stay. The only small improvement would be complimentary tea and coffee in the room. A kettle was provided, but tea and coffee had to be purchased separately. It wasn’t a major issue, but it would have been a nice touch. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Hotel Bären.

Sabah erken çıkacağımı söylemiştim. Resepsiyon 6.15 ten sonra restoranın açılacağını söylemişti ama sabah kapıyı kilitlemişlerdi hiç bi şekilde 7 den önce giremeyeceğimi söyledi. Take away yapmak istedim hiç bişekilde konuşulmadı

Good cosy place in mountains…

Great location near to the train station, where you can begin your journey to the iconic places around, + free travel pass for local transport (like train/bus to/from Interlaken). Nice breakfest with quite a variety of drinks. Good silent place with an awesome view.

I'd mention lack of air conditioning as we were there during really hot season, but wide open windows at night kinda solved the problem for us, so it's just a minor thing.

Lucky to get a room with balcony and stunning views of the mountains. Staff very heplful. Dinner good. Not much noise from other guests in a historic property.

Breakfast was a bit dull, although the coffee was fine.

Vieil hôtel avec beaucoup de charme. Les chambres sont certes "dans leur jus" mais parfaitement propres. La gentillesse du personnel. La place de parking gratuite. Le petit déjeuner très varié. Situation géographique super pour visiter les environs et randonner, loin de l'agitation de Grindelwald ! Wifi gratuit

Gostei, principalmente, das acomodações e da vizinhança. O quarto onde fiquei era aconchegante, lembrando cuidado e capricho nos detalhes. Fica a 10 minutos, a pé, da estação de trem, por um caminho tranquilo. Vc pode, até ir de ônibus (4 minutos), mas o percurso convida a uma caminhada. Já reservei o hotel para o ano que vem.

Die Zimmer sind im 1970iger Stil, man fühlt sich wie auf einer Berghütte. Unser Bad war sehr, sehr klein und völlig überaltert

Could have a fridge in the room and air conditioning. Was told they are renovating next year to upgrade the entire hotel. All the best in this endeavour.

The staff could be friendlier. For example, the reception staff wasn’t friendly when we asked for an additional towel and when we wanted to bring the food from the restaurant up to our room. Furthermore, we needed to leave early on our last morning so asked if we could access the breakfast earlier, to which the staff at night said we could, however the next morning the staff told us breakfast wasn’t available early and we had to tell her that the staff the night before said it was okay for us. The rooms were also very hot and the fan didn’t do a good job of making it cooler.

Loved the location, 10 minute short walk from the railway station, free bus around the corner. Gorgeous views of the Alps. Bed was super comfy, housekeeping everyday. Staff exceptional. Would stay here again.

Saubere Zimmer, gutes Frühstücksbuffet, freundliches Personal, Bahnhof Wilderswil ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt.

The bed and the pillows were incredible comfortable. I had a great stay. Plus, there’s a restaurant inside the hotel that serves amazing Swiss dishes. I would definitely go back. Just keep in mind that there’s no lift in the building.

L'hôtel est ancien et a beaucoup de charme avec plein d'agrandissements au fil des années, malgré la vétusté, les chambres sont bien entretenues et très propres. Le personnel est très serviable.

Le rapport qualité prix n'est pas à la hauteur (CHF 230,00 nuit pour 2 personnes) des prestations et du confort souhaité pour ce prix. Pas d'ascenseur (ce qui ce justifie compte tenu de l'âge du bâtiment mais pas pour les 3 étoiles de l'établissement) Pas de cafetière gratuite en chambre. Pas d'issues de secours conformes aux prescriptions en vigueur.

No lift for the luggage but the property is 300 years old so totally understandable.

Nice staff and decent comfort in a bit old-fashioned hotel.

There were some loud noises and bangs from upstairs early every morning. Not sure if it was from cleaning or just loud neighbours. No aircon, but open window and a fan worked ok. Beds made creaking sounds at first, but that was mostly because they were pushed together. We pulled them apart a bit and it fixed it.

Wir haben Halbpension gebucht und waren damit zufrieden bezüglich Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis. Das Frühstück war ausreichend. Das Abendessen hat unsere Erwartungen übetroffen. Man merkt sofort , dass die Küche von einem erfahrenen Koch geführt, weil alle Gerichte nicht nur geschmackvoll angerichtet, sondern auch uns super lecker geschmeckt haben. Wir haben auch die Hotelausstatung und räumiges Zimmer geschätzt. Von unserem Fenster aus konnten wir ganz weit oben Jungfrauenjoch beobachten.

Man musste 15 min zu Fuß von der Eisenbahnstation und zurück mit Koffern laufen.

Die Lage super um am nächsten Tag auf das Jungfraujoch zu fahren.

Die Rezeption ist nicht sehr kooperativ. Den 2. Stock mussten wir erst suchen. Frühstück waren der Honig und eine Marmelade fertig und wurde nicht nachgefüllt. Für diesen Preis ist das nicht akzeptabel.

Die Möbel im Zimmer hatten Charme...dss internationale Personal war sehr freundlich...das Frühstück bietet eine grosde Audwahö..das Brot war sehr gut..

..immer wieder kommt es vor dass sich bei einer Buchung über Booking das Zimmer als irgenwo zuhinderst im Hotel befindet...das Zimmer war zwar sauber doch der Teppich so gar nicht anspreched...

I had the family suite. There was an absolutely filthy bathroom next to the emergency exit stairs that emanated bad stench throughout our stay. Old property that has not been maintained upto standards and tariff charged. The staff was extremely rude when drinking ice was asked for the room! The family room on the top floor was unbearably hot. I will not be recommending this property to anyone! Only saving grace was the food in the restaurant and breakfast!

Das Morgen essen dürfte bis 11h gehen. Die Zimmer sind verwinkelt angelegt. Für gesunde Personen kein Problem aber mit viel Gepäck sehr anstrengend zum hochkommen.

We had a lovely 3-night stay at this beautiful heritage property. The location in the cozy town of Wilderswil is fantastic, offering truly wonderful surrounding views. It is very well-connected by train and bus, making it a convenient base for exploring. We found the staff to be very friendly, the breakfast was good, and our rooms were clean and cozy. We also appreciated that our personal preferences were considered during our stay.

I was surprised to see mixed reviews for this place online. It seems some guests arrive expecting 5-star modern facilities and then complain, but it is important to remember this is a well-maintained heritage property. The hotel is quite open about what to expect, and if you come with the right mindset for an older building, you will appreciate its charm. Yes, the floors are a bit squeaky, but that is entirely expected and part of the character of an old, historic property like this.

We had 3 nihhts stay in Bear Inn. Had 3 BK and 2 dinners there ( BC it rained 3 days !!). The restaurant is lovely and very delicious. Staff is wonderful, and I loved they let you order one person foundo with many different cheese flavors!! It's the best one of my 5 foundo experience in Europe. All the ingredients are top quality and seasoned well. .

As a hotel over 300 ys old, it's cramped and lack outlets, until I moved the end tables at bedside and found some. There is a fan and extension cord in the drawer. Make the stay easier.

The bed was very comfortable, the water pressure was really good too. The village is pretty and quiet. There are water fountains everywhere and it's only a 10 minute bus ride from the Interlaken west train station.

The walls were too thin and we could hear the neighbours singing, and the breakfast was not replenished regularly enough, and the options were limited.

Excellent breakfast with wide variety. Location is superb, only 800 meter from wilderswild station.

The hotel is tired. The view from the room overlooks a parking lot with the mountains in the distant view. The room was quite basic, although clean and quiet. I didn't think it was value for money, it should be priced cheaper for the experience it offers.

We always enjoy coming back to this hotel. This was already our third stay and definitely not the last. Every time we arrive, we feel a bit like at home. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the food is absolutely delicious. You can truly feel the history of this place, which makes the stay even more special. A wonderful hotel we are always happy to return to. 😊

The location is good not too far from the train station

I know the hotel is century old lol but they need to atleast install a lift. It was so hard to carry the luggage all the way to third floor 😫

The views from the room was unreal, Breakfast was amazing. The rooms were clean and were tidied up when we arrived from our daily trips.

The train station was a 10min walk but it is in a beautiful village so it was not that much of a problem.

Everyone was very nice and helpful. We had a room with balcony on the 3rd floor but because the hotel is 300 yr old there was no elevator. We did get help from a staff member to take the bags up and down. Stayed 2 nights and ate at their restaurant, both breakfast and dinner were good. Very small village, train station was close by.
