The location
Booked a twin room in February. When we went to book in they gave us two single rooms . One on the second floor and one on the sixth floor. Don’t know what universe they thought that would be acceptable. There was no where for your clothes and the bed against the wall. Just ridiculous for the money we paid x
It’s location we have stayed here several times over the years for the bowling
It’s tired now and in need of refurbishment and with the cost of the stay this needs to be taken care of
Cold plates for your breakfast, l like my plates to be warm not old especially if it's a warm breakfast.
Location was great.
The seagulls on the flat roof outside my bedroom window waking us at 4:30am both mornings.
Location was good for our purposes
Breakfast could have been better - staff not really interested in complaints - like cold food. Room - cleaning could have been better. Bar unmanned at times
The staff, particularly Megan, were friendly and attentive
The hotel is tired and needs upgrading. The toilets on the ground floor are long overdue an upgrade. The bedrooms are also in need of an upgrade but the beds were comfortable and the room was clean.
Location of the hotel and helpful staff.
They had no cheese for the cheese board, and they had run out of my choice of wine. However the meal was really good.
Clean and friendly
Definitely needs a refurb in rooms, walk in showers etc. Felt the price of drink was over the top. Put us off drinking and eating there.
All OK. Nothing special.
Nothing bad. A bit dated but OK
Lovely hotel very central
The bed and the staff
Breakfast no help serve yourself cold and hard and had to wait just awful
First - car parking a no no even if disability one you move u lose your space . Second only 2 plug sockets in the room and not near the bed . I have a slop machine and needed an extension lead to plus on my machine also leaving a cord along the room to cause a trip hazard 3rd being on oxygen I’m not great on my feet 4th had to ask for extra everything as room only Laid out for 1 person 5th very old and dated furniture The bed was the only Good thing Bath / shower hard to get into being disables And all Doors very narrow Bfast everything help yourself and it all dries up and hard I asked for boiled eggs and still Waiting but to get a good breakfast go 7.30 am to get the fresh food Staff receptionist were amazing Bfast staff could see I was disabled and offered no assistance to our table Ordered coffee at the bars and was shouted at to collect the coffee again the bar boy was so young so had no manners to bring them the the table Will Not recommend or return
Beautiful smell as we entered and nice and clean and tidy. Receptionist was extremely helpful but maybe with such a strong accent could slow it down a bit to be able to process what was being said! Good first impression overall though.
Slightly dated but still it was very clean and tidy. The bar manager seemed a bit fed up, like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. When we have paid good money it’s not what we want to see. We are here for a good time and no matter how much he wants to relay to us he is fed up, we can’t actually do anything about it. We have paid decent money to stay and therefore can’t help how the company runs it from then on. The young ones on the bar and in restaurant were very polite and helpful. Room (privilege) was spacious. Comfy bed, two pillows each!
I went with my granddaughter and she loved it, all the staff took the time to speak to her and make us feel comfortable
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Property was very run down.
Really lovely overnight stay with friends , hotel is close to everything and bus station Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely rey
Location very good for all amenities beach shops bus station and restaurants Staff very helpful got to leave out luggage in a locked cupboard. Great view from my room the privilege double room.
Location
Grubby. Needs an upgrade
The hotel was in a very central location, felt very safe at night as there was 24 hours service if required and you can only access the floors by using your room card Highly recommend if staying at hotel on your own
It was close to the centre of town
The shower was awkward to turn on resulting in me falling and badly bruising my arm. The tea and coffee is the room was only enough for 1 person in a family room. After checking out we got locked out the hotel and wasnt allowed to go back in, reception staff sat watching us trying to get back in but didnt do anything. There is stairs upto the entrance so if you have heavy cases you need to carry them up.
Location
A bit dated rooms need a refresh
Lovely breakfast & good central location
Little bit run down, but was fine for a nights stay.
Close to all facilities Sea view Lovely staff Comfortable room
Would have liked fresh vegetables on the menu
Great hotel and great location. Central to everything. The dark haired girl behind reception was friendly and welcoming. It was quiet when we went, so can’t really comment on the atmosphere but the bar area was nice and cosy. Rooms are big, clean and have everything you need. Good value for money too! Sea gulls were loud but you are by the sea! Nothing some ear plugs won’t sort. Also have to say that the draught beer selection could have tennents :) The breakfast was lovely. We will definitely be back soon :)
The location,the lift,the welcoming,staff was good,clean towels everyday,room cleaned everyday
Being up in the 6th floor, seagulls squawking aw night, the no air conditioning, room was like a furnace,no plug sockets near bed, tatty furniture, dated decor, sticky carpet.
Good location. Room very tired but clean. Not a good nights sleep due to gulls next to bedroom window making a noise as soon as daylight arrived
Location and staff were wonderful
Apart from needing severe updates the hotel has everything to go forward
Location and staff were excellent, and rooms were spacious and spotless. The staff were contacted last minute by my sister in law on behalf of my partner to ask if they would decorate the room for my birthday and they did it without hesitation. Zoe & Amii were the staff who were responsible for decorating the room, and they both done an amazing job, massive thank you to both girls. Reception staff were lovely and extremely helpful, especially when we were in need of a fan and again without hesitation, we were instantly presented with one, as well as the iron board & iron. Mercure Hotel should definitely appreciate all staff working the weekend of 11th-13th of July 2026 as each & and every one of them were exceptional, INCLUDING the cleaning staff who were the nicest people who worked so hard in the heat. Massive appreciation and Thanks from Nadia and David. Room 662!!
Leaving 🥰
All staff were brilliant they do an excellent service
Everything was great thanks
the staff were brilliant at the mercure from the cleaning staff, bar staff and the reception nothing was a bother the location of the hotel was ideal for the beech and the town centre just a short stroll to both all in all a great 3 day break
could not find any faults
Liked everything. The best room I’ve had. Great sea view and room service. 24/7 bar too. Great stay overall.
Nothing!
The hotel was spotless. Tbe staff were great nothing was a problem when we asked for anything. Lkved how we could phone down from the room for more milk T.bags etc or querie anything. Would definately book this hotel again in a great location. And also very near to bus station and train station. Excellent.
I could nkt fault anything to be honest
Ubicación muy céntrica. Habitaciones muy amplias y cómodas. Las que daban al mar tenían unas vistas muy bonitas.
Me encontré una sorpresa desagradable en el WC.
Staff were v friendly and helpful at checkin
Dated, not necessarily unclean but smelled fousty
Room was a great size with great facilities such as tea/coffee facilities and fridge. Location was good and quiet
a little bit dated but didn't disappoint with facilites and staff.
24 hour bar. Location excellent very central
Beds too hard. Very uncomfortable. Tea/coffee stain up wall. Carpet not the best. Had various stains on them. Had asked for lower floor as one of the parties with us had lung condition and unfortunately can't use lifts. The reception staff was unhelpful in that regard.
Hotel handy for most things and breakfast was great 👍
Nicely decorated bar area,
The meals weren’t exactly what the menu stated £21 for a frozen fish and chips, definitely wasn’t fresh and what was supposed to be a “ homemade steak pie was definitely shop bought pie ..breakfast was cold ie fried eggs and sausage, we were particularly first in restaurant for breakfast and it wasn’t even warm
Central to Ayr, nice room and shower, great breakfast
£225 for one night plus breakfast was expensive
Very central
Seaguls on roof
Central location
Nothing
The location was good
The room was very dirty.there was feacious on the toilet bowl, the soap dish was cracked there was a leak in the bathroom that spilled out to the bedroom the furniture was broken, the tv wouldn't work as the remote was held together with black sellotape the window handle was broken overall very dirty. We have been in caravans that are cleaner.
The room, staff, location, breakfast, comfort, were all fine and I enjoyed my stay at the Mercure hotel in Ayr
Getting in and out of the bathtub /shower was a hazard with no grab handle for support
Receptionist were excellent, room was excellent Bar staff and cleaner and was excellent. Would stay again hotel was fresh and clean
Everyone in hotel was excellent no problem with hotel
Staff helpful
Location of room as was kept up all night by gulls wandering on the roof on same level as my room on a hot night and not being able to sleep because of it.
Convenient location with a lovely veiw of the sea. Good sized room and bathroom.
A little jaded. In need of some TLC. There were no bedside charging ports.
Bed was comfortable
No air con. TV did not work Bathroom said to ask for a vanity kit from reception ( I needed a nail file) but reception had never heard of it.
Brilliant location
Over priced for the the room
Location
Booked a double room, got a twin, manager told me you weren’t guaranteed to get the room you booked! First I’ve ever heard of it! Room was dirty, carpet and bathroom tiles had spills on them and the cleaners couldn’t get whatever was on the bathroom floor removed, didn’t have any suitable equipment or products and no one even tried to clean the carpet. For 2 of my 3 nights I’d no TV or hot water and the room next door flooded and the carpet in my room was wet too. Staff seemed very unconcerned and apart from Meghan, weren’t particularly nice.
Great location and comfortable
N/A
staff very helpful ease of access from road and links to town
breakfast plenty of it but mediocre quality
This is a perfectly located hotel. The room was clean and facilities in good order. Large bar and restaurant although I was too tired to make use of them. The bed was lovely to sleep in.
Some areas looked tired and dated. I know it’s a hotel by the sea but the gull are quite annoying at 4am when you’re exhausted and want a sleep.
Rooms spotless staff were excellent breakfast was good
Lower the price of a pint
the reception staff were great. very responsive and helpful.
The room was manky. The carpet was sticky and the furniture very tired! For the price I was expecting a lot more. I am very disappointed with the value and would never stay again!
Desk staff were good.
Restaurant was poor. Staff were disinterested. When crockery ran out it wasn’t replaced without a long wait. Food was average at best.
Lovely view from window. Beds were comfortable.
Extractor fan did not work in bathroom, we were told that 24 hour room service was unavailable, mark in bath, mirror in the bathroom had not been cleaned properly, lock on bathroom door was not finished properly, bits of wood missing from bottom of lamps.
Bar and reception. Reception staff nice
Tiered
Bed comfy
They don’t tell you that car park is limited or that they charge £7 per sight. I am disabled yet no monitoring is carried out on cars hogging disabled bays. The car park attendant, when asked for help, was very belligerent. Very limited amt of coffee etc in room
Location
Room, safe did not work, Expelair did not work The curtain surround was broken with a nail hanging off
Comfy clean beds
Needs to be updated carpets bathroom etc
Location, view, room, bar and restaurant
Awful toilet paper!
The room was spacious with a sea view.
Nothing
Location
It’s old and tired. The view of the car park was awful. The room was basic and out of date. Bathroom average. Bed not very comfortable. This hotel is not value for money.
Staff were lovely, room was clean, great location
I had asked for a twin room, we had a double bed, and there was another room with 2 single beds. I slept in the double bed and my friend slept in one of the single beds… but she didn’t sleep at all as the springs on both single beds were sticking up, it was like lying on a bed of nails
Excellent sea and town view. Great value. Decent breakfast. Coffee maker in room for me is a must. Located near most of the best places to eat and only a block from the beach (which has nice soft sand) Front staff were friendly.
I asked the staff two times to bring me a desk chair from an unoccupied room as mine was broken. They didnt do it despite saying they would. I saw people enjoying their breakfast and then the cook came out and saw there were empty serving trays (he would have to cook more) and he was swearing F bombs and grumbling. Do that stuff behind closed doors, but also, why are you a cook but dislike cooking?
Location
The price I paid for a very basic room
Central location for town and bus station we paid extra for a privilege room which is more spacious
Not a dislike but would have preferred a walk in shower
Very good location for beach and town. Staff welcoming. Private car parking. Comfortable room with lovely view.
Although private parking available and discounted don’t like paying extra for parking.
the breakfast was decent, clean rooms and staff were friendly
Good location and the staff were all friendly and helpful
The food wasnt the best. We ate in the hotel for dinner and breakfast and most was left
Great location, breakfast and restaurant food was very good. Room was spacious with a stunning view. Bed very comfortable
Nice clean and close to everything 👌
A bit pricey i would say for alcohol and food
Great location close to train station and central. Hotel clean and food/bar good.
