Wonderful stay at The Savoy Hotel! It is beautiful and historic. It’s currently being refurbished and the owner Lucy really is a gem! I feel privileged to have stayed in such a breathtakingly pretty building. Also, the beds and pillows were the best I have ever experienced anywhere.
The room was tired. It was hazardous - Electrical Switches not screwed to the wall. Extension cable plugged into another extension cable. Duct tape used to cover window vents.
Externally the building looks very grand and downstairs albeit a little tired and in need some decorating was nice however the upstairs and room really lets this place down. Would not recommend.
The Garden
Rude staff Dirty rooms Horrible smell Two single beds pushed together No interaction from any staff member
The breakfast was very good . The location was ideal for the town, beach, and local attractions
No lift
Le style vraiment ancien de l’établissement et là décoration génial, juste un peu bruyant à cause de la route très passante
Rien
The old Savoy Park Hotel is under renovation and they don’t tell you when you book a reservation to stay or dine. We were informed when we arrived by a poorly written and half folded up not on the door that we were actually eating in a totally different location, the Old Glen Park hotel . This is a totally different building, with Formica dining tables in a cold room. That said the waiting staff were welcoming and the food was decent and having a £24 menu for 3 courses was some compensation for the overall disorganised experience. Whoever owns this needs to STOP letting customers think they’re booking the beautiful Savoy Park and instead will be shunted off to some other place
Beautiful Hotel, nice helpful staff, Lovely clean big room.
it said food served until 8pm or something similar but when we went down for dinner there was no food being served, so we opted to drive 5 mins away found plenty of places to eat + enjoyed the place we chose + the food.
Great service, friendly staff and very clean.
Lovely hotel. Close to beach and town center
Staff were very helpful..... Breakfast was outstanding ....
Central heating wasent working on top floor Where we where ...and window was opened wide when we arrive .....made it cold and not very inviting....
Very good, helpful staff and loved the view
Not enough gluten free offer on breakfast
Breakfast was amazing cooked to perfection and quality products used.
The room could have been cleaned better there was crumbs on the window seat on arrival.
Although the hotel was closing the next day we were treated very well very comfortable and the food was lovely would definitely recommend
Bit dark in the corridors my husband is disabled so was a bit difficult for him.
Lovely cooked to order breakfast, comfortable room, close to town centre, free parking on site, helpful friendly staff.Unfortunately this was the last night the hotel was open as closed on 1st December for refurbishment with sister hotel Savoy 5 across the road now taking bookings.
We love Savoy park as it's so comfortable in every aspect. The staff are amazing, the rooms well equipped and the beds are so good, you're guaranteed a good night sleep. We first stayed at the hotel when friends got married there and after being so impressed with the venue we've always stayed there when visiting. On the latest visit the cooked breakfast was exceptional. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.
Leaving!
Reception were really nice and helpful.....room was lovely...very clean tidy ...breakfast was good a great selection of food ...staff made us very welcome...bar area was lovely and cosy
The only very slight thing I felt would have been helping having a shelf in the shower room to put shower gel and shampoo on
A very tiny shower!
The charm of the place lovely listed building. Absolutely loved the window seat which meant I could sit on an evening and read. Staff were very helpful. Domestic staff went out of their way to talk to you. Will definitely be back.
The only draw back was i was on the 2nd floor and there was no lift and the 2nd flight of stairs were steep.
Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of car parking spaces. Short walk to town centre.
Bathroom was quite small and no space to put our toiletries.
The staff were very helful and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was great. Although the hotel is very shabby and is to be refurbished, the room was clean, comfortable and a reasonable rate.
The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment and the bathroom in the room was tiny.
The room I had was very spacious and very comfortable.and full of character.
The corner bath in the bathroom was too small for anyone.
Old fashioned hotel, clean on first appearance, but looks closer and it could be better. We arrived at 2pm, the smell of cooking oils was coming out of the kitchen as you went up the stairs from reception, not the best greeting.
The breakfast was great, everything was roasting hot, the only thing was the amount of oil that it had been cooked in was visible on the plate. Black pudding, haggis and bacon are better grilled, sausage and mushrooms don't need to be deep fried. It all tasted good but would have been excellent had they not been soaked in oil.
Lovely traditional hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. They allowed us to book in early as our room was ready. Breakfast was good and they catered for my needs as I am coeliac and required a gluten free breakfast.
Nice cosy room. Good sized bathroom.
People being quiet in the corridor
Location.
Hairdryer hanging off bracket and wire coming away from actual hairdryer. Sockets not working , bedside lamps ( both different ) cosy double but bed is really small . Breakfast poor . Wires like spaghetti junction ( electrical wires) .
all good, the staff were extremely helpful. and when we had a heating problem they couldn't fix we were moved into an upgrade and everything was fine. and breakfast was great
Convenient for downtown Ayr & beach
Nothing
Location and price were good. It was comfortable
It’s about to be completely renovated which it clearly needs so I’m sure it will improve. The shower was virtually unusable, apart from that, it was fine for the price I paid.
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Long walk to the top floor
Amazing staff and lovely beds/room thank you!!
Staff were very attentive and the hotel was extremely dog friendly! Food was also fantastic! Good sized room and close to the beach for a lovely morning walk!
Nothing!
It was lovely. Nice decor - traditional, Staff were friendly. Breakfast was wonderful. Parked right at the door. Bed comfy. Shower fabulous. Drinks at bar very reasonable. They put on a free Halloween party.
There is no lift and place needs a little updating but I believe they are refurbishing. Dining room seats need a little more padding.
We stay here a lot , staff are great , breakfast always great and service is fantastic, great location, safe parking
Nothing really
Great wee getaway location lovely hotel with great potential. Fantastic staff welcoming and attentive. Upcoming refurbishment will enhance the hotel
Nothing not to like
Lage gut, nahe zum strand
Zimmer eher veraltet, badewanne/dusche fast kein wasserdruck um duschen zu können
A fine dining experience. The steak pie was amazing. Also the garlic pasta dish was superb. The wood panelled traditional restaurant was very classy. Strongly recommend if you like character and charm.
Friendly staff, great value for money, lovely breakfast
Nothing
Excellent bed and pillows
Nothing everything was exceptional
The quirky and elegant building and the bedroom which was enormous! The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well. The hotel is in a lovely area and close to excellent restaurants.
The public areas are tired and in need of considerable refurbishment. Breakfast buffet was limited and the cooked food was variable in quality.
Close to town centre with parking and spacious rooms
Room interiors a bit dated, but renovation is planned for November 2025
The hotel is a lovely Edwardian sandstone villa in a lovely residential area of Ayr. My room (Room 5) was amazing...huge...and was probably the principal bedroom of the original house being right in the centre of the garden front. It had a stunning complete Edwardian oak bedroom suite and the bed was very comfy. In fact I had the best couple of nights sleep in quite some time. The bathroom was also huge and spotlessly clean. In terms of food I only had breakfast as there are couple of excellent restaurants very nearby...the buffet selection is fairly basic and the cooked breakfast was fine. The decor throughout the hotel is definitely dated and showing it's age but I understand it's closing shortly for a complete refurbishment. I would definitely stay again.
Just a lovely old style hotel. Made you feel like you're in a country manor, not the centre of Ayr. Will definitely stay again.
The radiator in the room wasn't working to well. The staff sorted us out with a small heater that worked a treat.
This hotel is my favorite place I've ever stayed. The hotel itself was originally a stunning private home, converted into a lovely hotel with ~15 guest rooms. The beds are absolutely _AMAZING_...easily the best beds we've ever slept on. We ended up having to extend our stay in the area 2-3 days longer than anticipated, and they accommodated us graciously, with just the adjustment of having to move to another room for the last 3 days. The staff is phenomenal, friendly, efficient, easy to talk to and full of information about the hotel and/or the area. However, the surprise star of our stay was the restaurant within the hotel. My husband's family had vacationed in Ayr since he was a young boy, and he knows the area quite well, and has his favorite spots he loved to go eat, or grab an ice cream. However, the food at the hotel was so wonderful, we ate breakfast and dinner there each night. Every item was impeccably seasoned and loaded with flavor, but not over-salted. We plan to make this our go to place to stay while in Ayr, we loved it that much. I understand they have a renovation planned soon, and we can't wait to see how they improve on what we already think was amazing. *Note: there's no elevator here, in case anyone needs one.
Good parking, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Decor tired.
Staff were exceptionally helpful and the breakfast was superb. Location was very good within walking distance of the beach
Lovely old hotel with period charm. Good sized comfortable rooms with large bathrooms. We enjoyed a pleasant meal in the dining room. Very helpful staff.
Dinner was excellent and very good value for money. Homemade burgers were delicious. Lovely presentation and attentive staff. Breakfast was just as good . Good quality produce used for the cooked breakfast. Plenty of juices, cereal, toast and jam. The beach is just a short walk down the quiet street behind the hotel. Perfect for the dogs, who were very welcome at the hotel.
Das Personal war super freundlich und fröhlich...das Essen war gut....und die Betten waren prima. Alles war sauber.
Das haben wir bereits vor Ort geklärt....eine Kleinigkeit...
The staff member called Jordon was excellent. Reported a problem and he went out of his way to deal with straight away. Owners were also fantastic even went out and bought a brand new TV and stand for our room after our TV broke.
Decor was slightly out dated but was clean and the hotel is getting a complete refurb starting Nov so don’t expect it to be updated.
Nice room, spacious bathroom, easy finding, good parking, nice staff, great that is dog friendly
No lift, narrow stairs, very short stay and our early so could comment on breakfast
Comfortable bed, clean room, staff pleasant. Breakfast was good, although I would have liked some fruit to go with the yoghurt and cereal. The cooked breakfast was nice.
Room was very warm and I couldnt turn off the radiator so slept with windows wide open. If I had been staying longer I would have asked staff to turn off. The mirror in the bathroom was on a very strange angle and was difficult to put makeup on in.
Food was very good and priced very reasonable
Good big room and clean and comfortable Breakfast was very good and quick
Shower was a challenge but was workable
Tired hotel. Breakfast was good. No EV charger
Old fashioned but lovely hotel, comfortable bed and amazing food. They also welcome dogs which is fantastic
It need refurbished but I can see this is being planned to commence in November.
Loved the character of the old nanor style house. Views to the garden from the restaurant are gorgeous. The bar restaurant area is very cosy. A most enjoyable experience
Great location. Good value for money
N/A
The staff were helpful and the breakfast was good.
The property is in dire need of renovation with plumbing, electrics, decor all badly in need of improvement. There was a smell to the first floor (just above kitchens), and the room sound insulation was poor with a TV (next door?) disturbing our sleep from 5am.
Good friendly staff excellant meals
We enjoyed our stay.staff were absolutely great very helpful and friendly the girls that served us were polite and chatted to us we felt very comfortable.my only problems were too many stairs up to the room.the room was nice but would have preferred a bigger window .it says on website all rooms have large windows well ours never felt as though we got the room nobody wants away in the attic.few other problems but did enjoy the rest of the stay.
The hotel was beautiful, the room was cosy and the breakfast was lovely.
I liked everything
Good staff and nice breakfast but hotel looking a bit tired in places.
This hotel was very comfortable and clean. The meals were excellent. It is closing at the end of October for a complete refurbishment, taking about 6 months, so any review now would, in my opinion, be irrelevant.
Very accomodating staff. Easy to reach and to park the car close to the entrance.
We enjoyed our stay at The Savoy...including the lovely full Scottish breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again. Thankyou.
Lovely hotel, room was quite small but lovely and clean staff were friendly
The room was small felt a little claustrophobic
Great location. Wonderful breakfast. Super nice staff.
Staff were very helpful. The room we were allocated was too small to fit our dog and suitcase to be comfortable, the staff gave us the choice of another 2 rooms, the one we selected was much bigger but the bathroom doors were saloon type, and very noisy. The rooms were in poor condition and in urgent need of refurbishment.
Good location
First room bathroom dirty and full of black mould. Second room strange smell, window didn't close properly, and had fan going in order to be cool enough to use. Breakfast - bacon almost uncooked.
Breakfast was very poor and was a real disappointment Items undercooked/raw Items missing from the breakfast as described Decor generally tired and needs upgrade Bedroom carpet where joined was loose and worn Staff stretched and a bit clueless in their roles Offering a cheeseboard as a menu item and not being able to offer port as an accompaniment was poor service Sky signal was very poor to channels constantly dropping off
Improved breakfast Better trained staff More staff Upgraded decor
Staff were very helpful and welcoming couldn’t fault anything
