No plug socket near bed
Clean, comfortable and easy access generally.
Disabled parking outside the front by the reception entrance. Too few spaces and only one had wide spaces on both sides of the bay. Too much a squash.
Location room size
A bit dated in parts
Handy location for nearby Rivington Hall Barn and it had spacious rooms.
A bit dated as other reviews mention but good value for the money.
Easy to get to and easy check in room was spacious
We ended up leaving at 3 am due to the amount of noise and shouting in the hotel corridors which was disappointing
Spacious rooms with added class
Nothing to add
The reception and dining areas were spotless the bedroom was also clean.
The bath mat had mold on the bottom of it, the pillows were hard.
Great location for football stadium. Breakfast was very nice, very good choice .
It was all good
Well located for the football ground but you need to drive/taxi as there is no easy walking route that crosses the motorway. Staff were friendly and breakfast good value.
Overall the property is tired and rooms are in need of renovation. Shower was weak and fixings are at least 25 years old. TV didn’t work , room entry cards failed and needed to be reprogrammed. We had to wait over an hour for food ordered at the bar
Near Bolton football ground
None
Everything very good would stay again
The bar shut early was back before 11pm and already closers Couldn’t get a pint.
Great check in staff/service Clean and tidy.
Nothing
We have stayed here before, and it is perfect for our business needs. The staff is very attentive, and the breakfast is excellent. Many local restaurants are just a short drive from the hotel. We especially love the Cherry Tree, which is about a 10-minute drive up the road.
N/A
It's close to the motorway which is best for me
Nothing I can fault
Everything was fine. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable. The place was dated but not in a bad way - it should re-style itself as an 80s themed hotel!
Nothing really - the breakfast was standard rather than good.
Hotel clean and room spacious
Unfortunately there was a party downstairs on the second night until 1 am. The hotel management failed to informed the guests. Could not have a peaceful night.
Staff
The rooms all need revamping I felt I was in the 1960 everything needs replacing
Very comfy beds & lovely & clean
I lost my car key a gap between the lift, staff were amazing with half an hour I got my key back. Excellent and amazing staff very helpful
Fair enough everything was good Ana amazing
Location
Room very poor, furniture damaged everything else dated narrow beds
A fantastic find with comfy welcoming rooms. Parking was superb and I would definitely stay again.
A bit of a walk from my room to the restaurant, but I'd definitely stay again.
Convenient location
Outdated rooms and bathroom facilities for the price
Good value for money
Lifts were a bit wobbly
Good value for money. Decent breakfast
Very dated. Like Crossroads Motel! Pool no longer in use. Rooms ok but very hot. Ok for a one night stop over
Having just returned from spending two nights here following sad family circumstances. Our room was very comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. All the staff we met were friendly but our special thanks goes to Irene. She was so helpful, kind and supportive going above and beyond to making sure we had everything we needed!! Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again. Peter & Ann
The rooms were too hot!
Even with a fan and windows open it was very hot in the bedroom. The staff also seemed to feel the heat and were out of sight most of the time we were there.
Room was nice
Bed bit to hard couldn't sleep properly
Staff very helpful and friendly. Room spacious.
Very little hot water in one room and the other room more water coming out of hose than shower head. Towel rail hanging of the wall too. Luckily outside temperature not to bad or imagine room could be very hot due to no a/c and only a little fan.
Fast check in great friendly staff, good size room.loads of parking
Needs better signs at the front of the Hotel the post code takes you next door to a housing estate
The location
Hotel is in need of refurbishment
Yes excellent staff really accomadating with my dogs needs
Air con
The room was clean and comfortable, I was pleased with the privilege room and facilities provided and the coffee machine.
An unexpected interruption affected a couple of hours of my stay . I completely understand that this was outside the hotels control , but it could have been dealt with better than it was , Communication and reassurance for all guests would have been better in the situation. My concerns were dealt with afterwards, which I appreciate. Thank you for your help & response.
Great location and value for money. I didn't eat there as bar menu was limited and left early the following day. Much of the hotel was very dated; all clean but long past its best. Can't argue with the price though!
little atmosphere in bar as suspect most guests went elsewhere to eat at the nice pub just down the road.
Breakfast was excellent with plenty of selection. Staff in restaurant went over and beyond to help us as we had 2 dogs with us ⭐reception staff very helpful and cheerful. Very good customer service.
Bar attendant could have been more helpful and informative.
I am born and bred in Bolton, so I have always been aware of the hotel but have never needed to book a room there. There is ample car parking (even if some guests can't park centrally in the bays). The room was clean, well decorated and an excellent size, with an extra large bed, small sofa and lots of storage space. The Bathroom was also spacious and the shower temperature and water pressure was great. The self-service breakfast was plentiful and decent quality.
The hotel (and subsequently the rooms) are a little dated but still very clean and well maintained.
The location
The noise
L’emplacement, pas trop loin de M6 north
Manque certain éléments dans la chambre
Irene in the downstairs loing was very attentive and looked after us very well.
Easy to access and plenty of free parking. The location was perfect for the event we were attending. Reception staff friendly and welcoming.
Faulty radiator in the room meant us walking into a furnace during a heat wave - not ideal! It was rectified promptly but took a long time to cool down as only 1 window and no air con (which we were aware of prior to booking), so the room was uncomfortably warm throughout the night. The beds could do with being replaced - the mattresses were extremely bouncy and the base would shift away from the wall with every turn. The bathroom, although clean and functional, could do with modernising.
The bar staff where excellent especially IRENE who was so good at her job ad a overall 🌟
Good location for what we needed
Was hot
Staff are friendly and welcoming.
This is a tired property that is in desperate need of renovation and modernisation. They used to have a fantastic leisure facilities 30 years ago, but unfortunately the pool is now dry and the gym is run down with the original rusty equipment. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom in a Privilege Suite was finished in silicone, room shabbily decorated. Coffee good! Breakfast is a highlight with friendly staff and good food.
Lovely room and very peaceful location
Breakfast was rather greasy
The room was lovely, the location is great, it’s a cozy clean place, but what makes it stand out is the room service, Irene a lovely woman who went into her pocket to make sure we had chips included with our meal, not just that thoughtful act she was so kind and generous even allowing us time to eat before paying. An absolutely wonderful lady making our stay so much more pleasant.
The room was clean with a good choice of complimentary drinks
The location was excellent for the purpose required
The rooms are tired and need updating Also and this is no slight against the staff encountered, but they could be smarter, ie a uniform Felt it let the hotel down
Large comfortable room. Plenty of space for us and the dog. Staff very welcoming to us and the dog.
The food was ok but more snacks than a main meal.
Breakfast was included with room. The staff were lovely. The food was amazing. 2nd visit, will be staying again thank you.
That the pool and sauna was closed permanently.
Me and my partner went for afternoon tea at Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy.. the food and drinks that were served to our table were cute and amazing. The leader that served does called Eileen gave us the best experience we could have asked for and she was so polite.. we have told our friends and family about this place and the service that we was given and we will definitely be visiting this amazing hotel to be greeted once again by the friendless staff. Thank you so much from Kyle and Carly.
Stayed here as a stopover on a visit to our son in Edinburgh. All the staff were very good but have to make a special mention of Irene working in the bar her customer service was excellent.
A wonderful woman named Irene served me I was really pleased with her customer service she was kind and friendly and very nice to talk to she made me feel comfortable and relaxed.
Clean, comfortable, lovely helpful staff, good breakfast 😋
Amazing breakfast and excellent on accommodating food intolerances
Na
Lovely breakfast and decent size bedroom
No aircon
Location, parking, bar area and friendly staff
Breakfast wasn’t great
Passable
Room poor, bathroom poor needs new tiles, bath, sink toilet ya ya ya
Staff
Very tired uncomfortable and bad smell in room
The paid breakfast was substantial, and other meals were good. Just one night while travelling. WE had the dining room to ourselves, and a plus as we could watch the FIFA match between USA and Australia!
The room was a little stuffy, no air-con, as we travelled over the summer, otherwise it was comfy.
Staff went above and beyond my expectations particulary helping with my dogs food needd a young ladyvworking saturday and young mam also forget their names they were brillisnt
N a
Staff helpful and welcoming
No air conditioning in our room
Hi I popped in to the hotel to do some work and was looked after by Irene who can't do enough for you she is a true asset for the business I will definitely use the facilities again and introduce to colleagues
Very welcoming. Ideal location for travelling about
Easy to find with a large car park. Close to several very useful areas.
Lovely room, hotel was near to our day out, so found the price excellent. Plenty of on site parking. Our walking activity day meant we were quite tired, so were unable to make use of the bar or restaurant, which looked great. I shall be returning on a less strenuous weekend to enjoy what this hotel has to offer.
Kaffee war super,
Nicht genügend Auswahl von Aufschnitt und Käse.
Location
Room size, cleanliness, damage to walls, dirty grout/windows, ancient lift and didn’t feel safe/secure in my room
its has easy parking and is a good location and usually our stay is OK
We have stayed here multiple times but this time in the heat, it was unacceptable to pay for a room that was so hot. There was a small fan provided that offered little to reduce the sweltering temperature of the bedrooms. This meant we just sweated all night long and could hardly sleep and with the window open the traffic noise was so loud it made it a very disturbing few nights all in all. Other guests opted to sleep with their room door held open to the corridor with the bin to try to reduce the room temperature and get some air flowing. No drinking water was offered by the hotel to help rehydrate through the night. Senior management need to address the lack of temp control at this hotel as heatwaves are going to be a feature in this country going forwards and we will not be able to stay here again through the summers. (and I do recall feeling cold during one of our winter visits.) This hotel is very tired in general throughout so a good refurb is needed
Location was good for an event we were attending
Everything! The place is falling to pieces, mice running behind the bar. Toilet didn’t flush. Was in a 900 degree attic room (and this was the end of May so before the heat wave!!!) it was cramped. No fan. Breakfast was a disaster - said oven cooked hash browns but would like to know what century they had been oven baked. The Brie/camembert was oozing out on itself because it wasn’t chilled, continental meat selection has discoloured and was crisping at the edges for the same reason. And then you look up to pray to the gods that you don’t get food poisoning… and the ceiling has had so many leaks and half of it is falling down.
Car park
Cooked breakfast was warm not hot.
Convenient to my meeting the following day
The hotel is a bit tired and needs some updating
The hotel was very nice the room was good. The breakfast was adequate and the staff in the dining area were very good. The bar area was also very nice. Some members of the bar staff were very good and friendly.
The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were poor needing replacing. On our second night the bar staff were poor a total contrast to the previous day / evening
Excellant and friendly staff,, great facilities. Woukd definately use again. Great value for money
Everything was goid no comolaints
Staff attentiveness
Nothing
Sprawling corridors, brown carpet!
Breakfast. Bar area. Location (close to Motorway), ample car-park area.
Rooms designed and built in the 70's. No a/c (we stayed in the relative heat of early July).
Stayed here for 2 nights at the weekend, which was our 2nd stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, slept very well in the big bed with lovely clean crisp sheets! The room had everything needed, kettle, hairdryer, iron and even a fan which was appreciated. The shower is powerful although the bathroom is dated, it was clean. The staff are always friendly and the lovely Irene is very thoughtful and a pleasure to chat too.
Arrived and hour early so went to ask if we could leave bags, but room was ready and staff just checked us in.
Unless you want to eat at the hotel you need to drive to find somewhere.
Breakfast was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. Room clean. The bathroom needed decoration attention but was adequate.
Bar shut too early, and other clients commented as they came in. Outside the window of the room was concrete overhang (over the front entrance). This was unkempt, full of weeds, bottles, and dummies. Needed tidying out. It was the first thing I saw as I looked out of the bedroom window and could not miss the mess.
Breakfast was really good a lot of variety, great location really big car park and the staff were helpful, especially a lovely lady Irene she couldn’t help you enough thanks.
Rooms were very clean just a little dated but would still stay here again.
Location and staff were great.
No air con. Rooms were so hot when the weather wasn’t even that hot outside. No plugs anywhere near the bed. Room just dates.
Well maintained and Clean facilities. Friendly staff, great customer service.
Bar prices too high
Great location and could be a great place
The breakfast was poor at best, room was in poor repair and shower wasn't worth using. My bed was broken upon arrival and only option was take legs off bed was uncomfortable to say the least and the only offer of a drink on the house for the inconvenience wasn't able to be redeemed. Will not be using again nor will I recommend.
Stayed here for the pool at the stadium great location, Room was very clean staff very helpful and friendly especially Irene lovely lady and very helpful who was working in the bar area, would stay again.
Everything was great, the breakfast was amazing! And we sampled everything. My friend used the gym which she liked, lots of equipment. The only thing was the room was very hot, could of used a fan. But other that great stay, and wluld definitely stay again.
Just the heat of the room.
The bar area was ok.
The rooms and overall property are in dire need of maintenance and renovation. Very old and worn, no air con or even ventilation in the rooms to the point I had to sit in the reception in the middle of the night just to breath properly. If your visiting during a heatwave you are in real trouble. Old shabby wardrobes, with doors hanging off, dirty public areas, carpets, doors etc. Basic stuff in the breakfast area missing, white bread, cornflakes, cold milk (warm off milk was readily available), fruit gone off, raw sausages, bacon swimming in grease. Basically un edible. I dont think the place had any maintenance or upkeep since my wedding reception in 1988 ! Best to stay away until new owners and a full refurbishment is carried out.
Lovely room with a really big bed and very comfortable, loved that shower gel ,shampoo and other products available in full size products and not the silly little things in most hotels, 2 TVs and a lovely small lounge room which was fantastic ,great wardrobe space and shelving for all your luggage.
Hot water could have been better in the shower, felt it was on the cool side , other than that great facilities.
Frühstück war gut
Keine Ablüftung, keine Klimaanlage
Perfect for what we needed for 1 night stay. Lovely room, good nights sleep
nothing really
Irene was lovely mercure blackrod receptionists lovely ..locks coukd be made safer on bwdroom doors.
Irene and the receptionists were lovely and kind my mother had died i was very distraught and alone, they were lovely.
I liked my room, the parking arrangements and the bar. Plus, everything in my room worked.
It was a sweltering day outside and my room was relentlessly steamy too, which made sleeping difficult. Some previous reviews said the hotel looks a little tired, but I thought it was fine.
The staff were really professional and helpful and friendly. Was clean, but old and tired. The food was pretty good. Location was good. Plenty of parking.
The whole of the hotel really needed some serious maintenance the staff worked wonders considering what they had to work with. The photos on Booking. Com need to be updated. There is no longer a pool and spa. The main residents were contractors. It's was probably very nice once. We would consider returning if the place was majorly updated.
Tidy rooms, good breakfast. Lydia did well.
Very limited restaurant evening meals, bit disappointed 😞
Great venue nice bar clean rooms
Hotel in un dimora storica con molto potenziale ma purtroppo trascurato. Grande parcheggio disponibile
Camere vecchie e caldissime senza aria condizionata. Bagno da rifare completamente Colazione povera, poca scelta e non di qualità. Non c’è un ristorante ma solo in bar dove puoi ordinare qualche insalata e sandwich
Beautiful entrance, room very spacious and lovely and clean. The beds were so soft and comfortable. Added bonus a fan. We booked in for breakfast the day after and the choice of breakfast items was amazing. They had a drink it was green, I think it was lime, kiwi and vegetable, add ice and omg it was good.
Nothing
Quiet location, disabled parking very close to entrance and there was always a space when I needed it. The rooms are clean and housekeeping is spot on. The staff I met were all doing a great job, friendly and accommodating. The food in the restaurant is amazing, the fries are a bit special and I highly recommend them.
The wheelchair access path is overgrown with sharp branches overhanging the path. They did cause me some issues being scratched and poked. The wheelchair accessible room door is heavy, it opens into the room. There are no automatic door openers and I needed help twice to hold the door open so I could enter the room. The door entrance is a tight fit for wheels and fingers, made worse by the heavy spring back door.
Very friendly and welcoming one night stay. I arrived and discovered the hotel in difficult circumstances- I had to visit Chorley and South Ribble Hospital during the night. In the morning I had a lovely Breakfast. As I was in pain I unable to sit in the Breakfast area to eat it. The member of Staff on duty at Breakfast time went out of her way to help me carry my Breakfast to my room. After that I spent some time in the Bar area where I was served by a lovely friendly lady working on the Bar. Another member of staff helped me prepare for check out by collecting things I had left in my room- again in my opinion she also went out of her way to help me. I travel in the North of England quite frequently. I am recovering from an episode of Severe Depression- travelling to different places with friends and alone helps me stay Depression free. Thankyou Mercure Georgian House Bolton for everything during my short stay. The Hotel is a credit to the Accor brand 🙂
Refurbished rooms. Good breakfast. Convenient location. Plenty of parking.
Bar food disappointing..
Clean, tidy rooms , good location for what we wanted
There was a problem with room card , it hardly ever worked must of changed our room card 6 times in 2 days
