Friendly staff, good facilities, easily accessed and very close to the town centre.
Allocated a "lodge" room in adjacent building. Inconvenient for where I had parked. Poor wi-fi, poor lighting, no refrigerator and no USB charging port in sockets
Just right for our needs as passing through with a dog. Lovely staff. Typical conference hotel but tired and in need of refurbishment. Excellent price for room only
Reception staff couldn't be more helpful, My work is nightshifts and they have accommodated by giving me a ground level room close to entry/exit where my vehicleis located, This is my second booking here and would not stay anywhere else.
The property was dated but lent and tidy. Thro room was also clean and tidy but the decor was dated and in Nedd of an update. The stay was very quiet and pleasant. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Staff are wonderful. The room was cleaned 2 times in 5 nights and the 2nd only because i asked. Bed was made up very shabby.
Needs lots of TLC. Its convenient for St Fergus sute and thats about it.
perfect stay in Peter head. Short walk to the golf course Peter had links. Good food big room overall excellent
The staff were all great and a special mention to the manager and reception staff and all the waitresses every one did an amazing job with a warm and friendly atmosphere nothing was too much they all deserve a good pay rise
Friendly and very helpful staff. Hotel in need of modernisation but ok for the short business stay I was there for. Breakfast was good. Dinner was limited and quality of food only average, but reasonably priced for what you get.
Has the potential to be a really nice site, with great facilities, however is very dated and in need of refurbishment e.g. gardens over grown, furniture surfaces lifting and peeling, ill fitting covers on dinning area seats.
Clean but basic accommodation. Surprised that there was extra charge £5 for using pool or gym. Pleasant hard working staff. Food average except for being served a burnt slice of toast under the garlic mushrooms - Shame on the chef!
The two ladies working last night were excellent both reception and in the restaurant they have their work cut out being busy but they did an amazing job
Asked about gym hours and access at time of check in, I was told it closes at 8:30pm and I would only have to check in with the gym receptionist. I go to the gym at 7:20pm and am informed that I have to pay an additional fee to use the gym facilities. I ask if they can charge my room and I am told I have to pay before use. I trek to my room, get my card, and trek back only to find they have difficulties with the card machine. It would've been convenient if at time of check in when I had my wallet and specifically requested gym information, that I pay at that time or charge my room so I pay at check out.
No hot water in the room for a shower in the morning. Excuse from reception was that there were only 9 people staying in the hotel. Not impressed and wa unable to wash and shave due to the cold water.
The waterside is great, it is very dated but the price reflects that. There’s nothing else around this part of Scotland that gives you this level of value for money. I wouldn’t go there expecting the world but it’s clean, has a nice restreraunt, a so with sauna, jacuzzi, pool and steam room and the staff are very attentive. I love the place and will be going back next weekend.
Older hotel but very clean with excellent staff
Service and staff were great However shower didn’t work properly and there was no soap in the shower either
.
If You enjoy golfing, stay at the waterside. You can walk to the most fantastic links course. Plus, the hotel has a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and a steam for after golf. Perfect.
Food was nice, but the service, particularly on a morning made you feel like you were personally the reason they had to get out of bed. No organisation for seating you for breakfast, I was sat at Three tables at one point, before being served. Not to mention the big sigh I was greeted with when asking for a table for three. The place is aged, and not in a good way. Bar staff keep vanishing. It was a very hot week and the room was baking, no air con and a sign beside your window saying not to leave it open as the swallows might get in! Really not a good place to stay. It’s obvious why the other places get snapped up early.
It was gibe. Stayed there a few times so knew what I was getting
Very Friendly staff, clean rooms and quiet at night. Food is okay, not the worst but not amazing. Old hotel but pretty well kept. Decent little gym, pool was closed when I was there but looked decent.
As others have said, this hotel is in dire need of an update. Staff were pleasant enough, food was ok and decent value. Paid £7 for WiFi and was only able to use it for about 20 minutes during my stay, even in the hotels main areas. Breakfast was a £24!! Add on
Nice food, hotel needs a refurb! Room felt like a cell, maybe it’s meant to be shabby chic or something but painted breeze block walls are not relaxing!
On arrival at Waterside Hotel, found the car park was mostly filled with work vans, so wondered if it was the right choice for a couple, but on entering we found the staff friendly and helpful, the room was basic but clean, the TV was set on the dressing table blocking the mirror. Breakfast in the morning was really good, with a great choice and tasty well cooked hot food and good speedy service, so good value overall.
Another nice stay at the Waterside Peterhead. Staff are all friendly which is an asset to this hotel. Food is very tasty at both evening meal and breakfast. Good value for money
Would recommend we stayed for 3 nights visiting family in the area could not fault in anything Staff were very attentive especially Jade on reception nothing was a bother
Easy to find , gym , pool very spacious, could do with updating rooms
Only stayed for one night but the room was clean and comfortable, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would be happy to stay here again.
Stayed 2 nights for a wedding . Staff were excellent couldn’t do enough for us and very friendly . Constantly checking everything was ok in toilets , reception area etc . Rooms very comfy and clean .
Good check in, staff very pleasant decent Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate however I got charged £5 for a half pint of lime and soda which is extortionate.
We enjoyed out stay, it was a wee bit of a couple's therapy kind of getaway. Ordered afternoon tea, the little traybake bites were sobsweet, we couldn't eat them. The hotel staff was were nice and helpful, however the hotel itself needs a bit of refurbishment
Excellent. Staff wonderful. Everything fantastic. Thanks
Was a little disappointed when turned up for dinner booking to be told there was a private function and they were ordering their meals first. So I had a long before I could order.
Our room was spacious and clean. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Hotel has potential to be better. Cocktail bar quite small and no comfy seating. Lounge area next to reception was better. Other bar was shut during our stay. Plastic glasses for breakfast juice seemed odd in an eco world.
Another nice stay at Britannia Peterhead Very friendly and helpful staff which makes this hotel. Basic and clean . Nice food and it has a pool
Good clean hotel As with all Britannia hotels needs updated but if all you need is a bed and a reasonable meal this fits the purpose at a good price
Fabulous stay. Great staff, lovely food and nice bedroom
Excellent
Building a little run down but nice overall. Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff. Nice river walk at the back of the hotel.
Stayed for 2 nights and was happy overall. Staff were friendly and welcoming, room was clean, pricing was within my budget. Cooked breakfast in the morning not so good - buffet style/hot plate, and food was luke warm. The beans were hot though. This is the downside of hot plate service. There was plenty of food a available though, cereals also. Dinner at night however a different story. Different menu each night with several options. Both nights the food was really good. Menu has set pricing of 1, 2 or 3 courses. Which was very reasonable. Unfortunately the company left a little to be desired on the first evening… there were a group of tradesmen in who were obviously regulars as they were very familiar with the staff. With that being the case, I feel the staff should be comfortable enough without being prompted, in reminding them that there are other guests dining - their language was very colourful and loud. I felt very uncomfortable and got through dinner as quick as possible. Was looking forward to the pool (one of the reasons I booked here). Unfortunately the pool is not that great - kidney bean shaped, which does not allow for a lot of people in the pool especially if you actually want to swim lengths. I managed, but I felt very conscious and almost guilty of getting in the way of others. I certainly enjoyed the steam room afterwards. The location is about 1.5 miles from the town centre, so a quick drive or a nice wee walk if you prefer.
Hotel is in desperate need of refresh!
Clean and functional. Friendly and helpful staff.
Not happy at all. Chaotic check-in, room very run down - in fact the whole hotel could do with a re-furb. Hotel was advertised as having free wi-fi and a swimming pool. Wi-fi only free in bar area (which they turn off if they are looking to close up - and this was soon after 9pm!!). First night the barmaid was loudly complaining about the fact that customers were asking for drinks when she wanted to clear up. There was a swimming pool but there was a charge of £5 per person, per session- more expensive than our local leisure centre, which has a full size pool. Overall very poor service from staff who clearly were not customer focused. Bed and pillows very hard. We stayed for 3 nights and didn’t get one good nights sleep. Again bathroom could have benefited from a really deep clean.
Lovey staff and breakfast was good but my lord what a dive, the rooms are like something out of a borstal movie from the 80’s. Building actually looks like a crematorium and there is nothing near.
Nice and comfortable and staff were friendly
The stay was ok,room could do with updating. The wifi was terrible. The cleanliness of the room wasnt great.Dont do cashback so if you want to play pool, make sure you have cash. Not many guests in bar.should have more staff on as the woman was serving at bar and had to deal at front desk to.
Yes it was fine hotel just dated but under the circumstances many hotels are the same but the leisure side seemed great
Convenient modern hotel
Nice quiet hotel easy access and good parking . Room has everything I need
This hotel is one off the best in Scotland. Our check-in time was at 4 pm we check-in at 10.am. With a £10.00 fee. The hotel that we had originally booked was closed (lockup). When we arrive.
Brilliant will be back ...staff were great ❤️
Place was very clean staff and food great quiet it’s more the type for work folk area is gorgeous recommend the chippies
Wi-Fi poor and went down resulting in having to move hotel
Great gym , food and all staff friendly
Aurora borealis And helpful staff
Positives: room and bathroom were very clean, bed comfortable and high ceilings prevented a small room being claustrophobic. Manager was attentive, restaurant staff also pleasant, especially Colleen and a chap with a southern Scottish accent (sorry, name escapes me). Food was good and plentiful. Excellent value for money. Negatives: a bit off the beaten track. Receptionist not very well informed and thought it was okay not to wear her mask because "she was sitting down". Poorly fitted masks or not covering nose commonplace amongst the staff. Disappointing especially in this industry where the potential for covid spread is huge. However, overall enjoyed my stay and would return.
Very friendly staff and excellent facilities
What can I say. Superb well equipped, large and spacious bedroom, the friendliest and most hospitable staff I have encountered for a long time. Amazing bathroom (with jacuzzi bath). Hotel clean and well kept throughout. Very good breakfast - limited evening menu but what we had was decent. Well equipped gym (although we didn't try it out ...... but people were using it). Very safety concious throughout the hotel. Masks very mandatory, as were disposable gloves when selecting from the buffet breakfast. There was a pool which we did not have the opportunity to try. Two night stay prior to business in Peterhead on the Monday. Would definitey stay again. Function room was set out for a party and looked really fabulous. Well stocked bar with reasonable prices. Huge and spacious large lounge seating area with open fire and deep comfy sofas and armchairs. What more can I say - Front of house and all staff just so welcoming and accommodating We will be back up in 6 months and will definitely be staying again. If you're up in Peterhead do give this hotel a whirl. It offers everything you could ask for in a hotel - and more.
Arrived early evening after a long drive. Check in easy. Bedroom clean and comfortable. Restaurant had a limited menu . Ordered Beef stew with mashed potatoes and peas which was a great choice. Arrived at the table piping hot and a decent portion. Followed up with Apple crumble and custard. Both a good choice after a long day. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of piping hot food. Check out was a little slow because of a new starter on the desk but we all have to learn when new in a role but the young lad was pleasant and friendly so no issue with short wait. Would I stop again definately if in the area. Excellent value for money.
Great stay! Room clean and comfortable, food good and plentiful Friendly staff nothing too much trouble.
The most uncomfortable hotel bed ever. Beware, the use of the pool and gym costs extra!
The room was exellant the staff were helpful.we had to go to reception for teabags and milk.the staff in the restaurant were very good.we will go to stay again.xx
Excellent staff throughout the hotel. A great one night stay.
A bit scruffy a lot of waiting to be seen excuses of being busy
Decent room a few bits getting a little dated but acceptable for the price. Reception staff were friendly and very welcoming as usual.
Room was lovely, clean & very spacious. Had dinner in restaurant, menu quite varied but some of the food was not very hot. Used the swimming pool which was quite adequate
Lovely place to stay. Good food, good facilities. Excellent location for exploring the area.
Staff were excellent, very friendly amenable and helpful. A credit to the company.
We weren’t told on check in that the rooms wouldn’t be serviced or replenished each day, it was only when I had to approach reception for tea:coffee. Hotel & rooms tired. Don’t expect use of pool as guests, we were told to ring & book ‘slot’ & we’d have to pay as any other non-member.
On the outside of the town centre, good long walk ...good hotel layout, easy access to the public space, good parking in front and side of hotel. Food excellent value an good quality. Peterhead trail shows highlights of a town with a working fishing port, and a prison museum. Easy walking around the
Limited menu due to COVID restrictions but generally good standard with great staff
Room was a bit dated and the wifi was intermittent and slow. No fridge in room which would have been great as working away from home.
Lovely staff and the on site swimming pool is always a hit when we visit
Clean and covid safe - friendly staff.
My wife and I visited the hotel with my 91 year old mum and 92 year old dad. We really enjoyed our stay but have a few observations. The staff were really great, very helpful and
Very efficient and friendly receptionist couldn’t fault her at all
travelled for work. This was a comfortable hotel and breakfast was very good
Have to say my stay here was for one night business trip and I’m glad it was only one night. Check in receptionist was really nice and helpful. The hotel itself is in need of updating, has the feel of a university halls of residence. Furniture in the rooms probably not updated since the 70’s. Have to give the hotel credit and say that the room was clean though and they have made efforts to ensure the rooms are sanitised etc. I had the misfortune of eating in the restaurant which was a pretty dismal experience, from being greeted by someone who didn’t even bother to say hello just “I’ll get to you in a minute”. I had a fish cake to start which was obviously frozen and then deep fried, served with a limp side salad. Burger for main course served on a dry bun with luminous yellow, half melted cheese, chips and some cold, oily onion rings. I deliberately picked the burger as I though it was something you can’t really get wrong? Breakfast was just as bad, cooked breakfast ingredients are obviously the cheapest of the cheap, sausages almost inedible. I understand that the hospitality industry is facing tough times and never usually leave negative reviews about places I stay but having staff that make you feel welcome costs nothing and a little care about the food you serve goes a long way. It’s a shame as I am in the area often for work but will ensure not to book this place again.
We like their food people view We are will back again
Stayed here for 3 nights while working in the area. When checking in i was notified that i was booked into room no1 and was asked by the manager if that was ok as they normally only reserved this room as an overspill for the main hotel. I was informed the room was the same as the rest of the hotel rooms so I accepted it, but soon found out it was next to the noisy maintenance rooms. The main service entrance was also next door so late that night and at 4:30am the next morning delivery trolleys were being wheeled past my room. I requested to be moved room which was sorted the next day. The second night i went for a meal at the restaurant - Lasagne was piping hot on the top and stone-cold in the middle so had clearly been microwaved and had to be returned. Wifi was that bad throughout the hotel i switched it off and used 4G. The hotel looks like it was built in 80s and has never been upgraded, carpets in corridors were also filthy and could do with a clean. Rooms were far too hot and no way of switching the heating off. Went to reception 4 times during my stay and there was never anyone there, you had to stand about as it seems reception staff also work in the restaurant and bar. When checking out they then tried to charge me for the lasagne, and when i explained that it had been returned I was told it would be free as a goodwill gesture.
Uncomfortable bed, rubbish on floor, used coffee wrappers mouldy toast
Nice warm welcome upon arrival, unfortunately the first room that we were put into wasn't receiving any wifi and it was rather dated. The next morning I asked to be moved to a more suitable room where I could get the wifi and get some work done, the manager was more than helpful and found us another room immediately, added bonus was that this room was much more modern too. We didn't try the food but from what I saw it looked very nice, you do have to pay for the leisure facilities but it is not a great amount. Close enough to the town, nice stay, cannot fault the place for the price !!!
A very tired hotel
From checking in to checking out the staff could not do enough to make you very welcome and give you all the information that you needed it is also one of very few properties that actually advertise a bath and shower combination with an actual bath and the food is delicious
A great hotel, the staff go out of their way to help you. Great leisure facilities, very clean and good parking.
Everything we needed was there. Food good staff friendly, room furniture looks a little tired although functionsble.
Value for money but needs refurbishment. Friendly staff with good food. Excellent breakfast
Hotel badly in need of a refurbish. Interior decor decidedly dated. Grounds were not particularly well tended and a bit overgrown. Room (Executive) was a good size with a big comfortable bed but otherwise in need of a facelift. Food was OK with generous portions. Staff were friendly and helpful which made our stay more pleasant. Reasonable value for money, if you can see past the general tiredness of the property.
Very good for price... Staff excellent
this hotel has the friendliest staff you could wish for and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The only problem was that they do not cater for vegans. They did their best to prepare a meal but the chef was off for 2 days. They supplied us with plates so as we bring food into our room. As it was our wedding anniversary, we were upgraded to a superior room which was great. The staff make this hotel, although the hotel needs a lick of paint and some t.l.c. The leisure facilities are great and very clean.
The staff where friendly from the start. The restaurant lady was lovely and very professional as was the receptionist. I understood this was a older property which was a but run down but the staff and food well and truely compensate for this.
Quick check in, large room good with shower. Had 2 course meal which was decent.
Everything was fine very nice place very good And pleasant staff good size rooms. A
Very clean and large room, very comfortable. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and efficient, overall a good stay.
Good food excellent staff the hotel was a little dated in architecture but was pleasant and was in excellent condition and had Spa and gym Really good value for money enjoyed the stay
Good place to stay . Well priced . Good food. Hotel was busy but only 1 bar staff serving. So but off a wait at times . They would have made more money if more staff on . As hotel was fully booked. But still good . Will return again.
very comfortable room, clean, tidy and very quiet. Only stayed the one night so that I could attend the Stockcar meeting along the road at Crimond. Breakfast was first class and ample choice.
