Beautiful setting Comfortable beds Friendly helpful staff
Liked it all
Excellent food both dinner and breakfast. I asked for sheets rather than duvets and they managed to do this.
The staff were just so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. Really made our stay. Hotel and setting were stunning. Really liked the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. Would definitely stay here again
Suggested improvements - we had a ground floor room and would have been better if had some blinds or voiles on the window for privacy. Also prefer more choice re hospitality tray ie hot chocolate sachets.
We were attending a wedding at the Hall, our accommodation was, therefore, well located! Tasteful, clean, and comfortable with all the amenities needed.
For the price, we've had better breakfasts, our expectations were high as the rest of the food we'd had was amazing.
The whole stay was brilliant from the moment we arrived. Everything was immaculate, from cleanliness, facilities, friendliness of the staff, including one of the gardeners whose passion for his work shone through. Location was ideal for our plans, Beamish Museum, Kynren and Durham. Will definitely return.
Nothing to dislike
The bed room set out the venue the view
The bed sheets weren’t cleaned but by time I got to my room it was late. No ac or refrigerator
The location is amazing, beautiful grounds. The lady on reception was excellent, very friendly and welcoming.
Beds very uncomfortable, did not sleep well and was there for a wedding. The breakfast was very expensive for what it is.
friendly staff and comfortable stay, good bar area and outside area, with a very good restaurant
1 small criticism the bacon was a bit hard on the breakfast
Fabulous hotel, great and spacious room. We had a very good evening meal at the restaurant.
Paid extra for a suite with a garden view but the view but was mostly the car park
beautiful setting and beautifully appointed
It was a very hot weekend and the rooms were quite warm a little uncomfortable to be honest with you. There was no air-conditioning.
The staff were exceptional and the food was amazing
Next to Beamish museum. Fab rooms. The garden is AMAZING. Worth a visit just to see it. Lovely bar with outdoor courtyard seating.
The bar closed a bit early for us!
All the staff we encountered were very pleasant.
The in room tv .the channels and reception were very poor
Lovely hotel with beautiful gardens, comfortable friendly and good food.
Nothing to dislike
Lovely old hotel in the heart of beamish food in the Resturant was excellent The grounds were beautiful.
Room was so warm but we were there in the heat wave
Excellent food
The breakfast was great. The beds very comfortable
Our room was a liitle warm
A lovely hotel and extremely comfortable.
Our room was beautifull, the beds were very comfortable. There was everything we needed to make our stay memorable.
The only negative was not being able to open the bedroom window. Not sure if you weren"t allowed to open it. But if so a small sign advising this would have been helpful.
Beautiful property and excellent helpful staff
The surroundings and room
Beautiful building with stunning gardens, we really enjoyed chatting with the gardener who was very knowledgeable and I got some great gardening tips. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, fully restored but kept the character.
Nothing
Local to our planned visit to Beamish.
nothing
Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. Room was tastefully decorated and had the most comfortable bed. The gardens and grounds are stunning with a riot of colour everywhere. Breakfast in the Stables restaurant was fantastic with lots of choice. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. So much so, we have booked a return trip fot November.
Packing up and getting ready to go home. 🤣🤣
Excellent breakfast. Spacious rooms. A proper hotel for a reasonable price. On site restaurant provide a good selection of meals. EV charging in the car park was also useful. Nearby woodland walks great for dogs. Beamish museum is worth repeated visits.
Staff were fabulous, attentive, and helpful
Access to the wardrobe in the room was difficult in that the doors couldn't fully open due to the position of the bed
Both breakfast and evening meal were excellent, the room was clean and spacious with an excellent view of the grounds.
The old hotel is steeped in history Beautiful groungs Very clean All staff are pleasant & helpful
No swimming pool
Beautiful gardens. Comfy room, great shower
All good!
Just beautiful
Couldn't fault it
Great location and beautiful house and garden, filled with flowers. Our room was huge and had a great view.
With just a few tweaks this could be a fabulous hotel but felt that everything has been done on a shoestring. Our room was huge but didn't have enough furniture to make it cosy and in keeping. All painted boring white with not one picture on the walls. No suitcase stands, so cases had to be put on the floor (not good for elderly people having to keep bending over), no socket near the bedside table to charge phones. The corner bath so huge that it would take an hour to fill halfway with the dribble from the tap. We booked a table in the restaurant before we arrived for 7pm on Sunday. Expecting to be able to have a leisurely drink in the garden before dinner, we were surprised to be told we had to "order in the next 5 minutes as the kitchen closes at 7.30". No-one bothered to tell us that it was a Sunday Lunch Menu and closed early. Overall the food wasn't wonderful.
It was beautiful
The heat in the room
Beautiful hotel, stunning gardens too! Ideally located for Beamish Museum
Our room was very tight on space. The bed had full duvet and with the summer temperatures it was too much, however there wasn’t a top sheet or a throw just to give light cover so we didn’t sleep very well.
All lovely
Nothing
Beautiful hotel grounds. Great on site bar and restaraunt. Lovely helpful staff.
The small double room has no views
This is a beautiful sprawling building with wings added by generations of the building family. The whole building is grand, it's obvious why it is a wedding venue. The restaurant is superb, a good range and perfectly cooked. I like wine and was very impressed by the wine menu. The staff were so very happy and friendly.
It's a long way from where we live so visiting can't be very frequent.
The grounds were beautiful and the restaurant was great
2 levels of stairs to climb to what felt like a space in the attic. In the heat of summer - no air conditioning, windows not opened in preparation of our arrival and fans only provided after requesting. Beds too short for my son and husband.
The receptionist was very friendly and informative, our room was very comfortable although the bath side was rather high, (My wife is not very tall, short legs) although we managed. The breakfast was fantastic, perfectly cooked. (The Hollandaise sauce was excellent}
Lovely setting and grounds
Nothing
The grounds were excellent. Spacious. Loved the old scary tree. Dining room in old stables. Excellent car parking. Room was warm.
Sound from adjacent rooms - travelled through walls. Could hear almost everything and I should imagine them us. Staff were pleasant though I sensed too functional ie interaction with us was minimal just enough to say where room was. Mmm. On website directions to hotel could be clearer. The external entrance to the hotel is impressive but is let down when entering the building. The entrance room is large and not inviting. Many many more plusses than negatives.
excellent accommodation for facilities and location for us . breakfast recommended in a lovely setting after a walk around the grounds .
struggling to think of anything
Property is well maintained and looked after ,gardens are beautiful
Bathroom was a little bit small, you could have had a shower and been on the toilet at the same time.
The room for a 1 night stay was perfectly adequate. I was told that it had a small shower cubicle and that was the correct description. It was very tight! Small room but ideal for what I required.
I couldn't get on to the wifi which did cause a problem, the conference one does work but you need a password so I would advise all guests to ask for this. My husband was frantic not being able to get hold of me!

Breakfast and dinner were absolutely lovely! The gardens were beautiful, we enjoyed walking around the garden admiring all the flowers and baskets it’s worth visiting just to see that! The room was nice and comfortable would love to visit again, it is also close to the museum which is a bonus as it is well worth visiting!
Break fast and location
i never see any House keeping staff smiling or wishing on my 3 days stay. the room was not done properly on second day and the waste were not emptied.
Beautiful Hotel, the outside presentation and flower gardens were breathtakingly beautiful. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
Both hotel, magnificent flowers and garden
Absolutely everything!
Leaving !
Beautiful location and building
Bed extremely uncomfortable and pillows like sleeping on a brick. One window didn’t open and room far too hot
Love the stables restaurant
Room was not very sound proof
Setting, architecture and sympathetic renovations. Clean , spacious and airy bedroom. Professional reception staff Grounds staff doing an amazing job Inviting and colourful courtyard
Bedroom could have done with a coffee table and a small fridge
The gardens are superb. Staff were lovely and the room & bathroom very good.
The Stables food was disappointing.
Everything!
It was great location to stay to visit the Beamish Museum. The grounds were beautiful. We didn't expect this and it was a wonderful surprise. The room was large and very comfortable. probably the best place we stayed on our 10 day trip.
had a fabulous stay
room a bit dated but nice. No hairdryer in room
Beautiful surroundings, very helpful staff, very good restaurant food at a sensible price. We only ate there on one evening but it was superior to both local options we tried. Friendly atmosphere and happy looking staff.
The windows were very difficult to open and didn’t stay open. We had to prop one open with books we had. Despite excellent staff, parts of the hotel could have been cleaner, and it was typically in need of repair (windows) due to its age.
Location. Building. Breakfast. Reception service
Walls possibly need sound proofing in rooms. Could easily hear snoring & chat next door
Beautiful grounds, clean and comfortable. Breakfast and evening Food was excellent.
Great place to stay. Beautiful location and easy to locate. Staff where friendly and couldn't do enough. We where there for a wedding and it was fantastic.
Only thing we didnt like was the room location
The excellent service, architecture, comfortable and beautiful rooms, delicious dining and picturesque setting
Loved the setting and the ambience. The restaurant was very good, with quick service. We enjoyed the grounds, a pleasant walk in the evening. The room price was very fair. This was by far the best hotel if you want to visit Beamish.
Our only gripe was that the breakfast price was too steep, especially as my wife would only want a piece of toast!
Everything...from the location to booking in, the staff we couldn't have picked a better place to stay.
Beautiful gardens
Nothing
Friendly staff Nothing was a problem Julie on reception was lovely very friendly
Friendly staff , clean room good check in experience
Great breakfast in a lovely restaurant with friendly staff. The range of food was great, from light breakfast to cooked. The hotel staff are also very friendly. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and everything is very clean with all the amenities needed.
The only down part is that the hotel is very old so wasn't made with sound proofing in mind. It is easy to hear the guests in adjoining rooms and walking down the corridors, meaning it can be a slight challenge to sleep early.
A great property set in wonderful gardens. Well maintained, also it has plenty of private parking.
The Hall is beautiful - full of history and has been excellently preserved in all it's glory. The very large room was lovely with a 4-poster bed. Breakfast was great with a good choice of buffet and freshly cooked to order. The gardens are amazing and worth staying here for these alone!
The room was bit hot and could really have done with air conditioning. For safety reasons the single window would only open a little way. A fridge would have been appreciated!
Stunning gardens. Comfortable room and lovely breakfast. Jasmine on reception was super helpful booking cabs for me and sourcing a 2nd fan and a robe for my room.

Great location for Beamish Museum. Wonderful old building. Comfy and quiet.
Hard to get cold water out of the tap or shower but we were in the middle of a heatwave.
The gardens were in full bloom and so well maintajned/designed. The staff were so welcoming & friendly
Warm friendly staff
Bedroom window was stuck closed but we had a fan in the room to circulate air.
Das Hotel hat Charme, die Lage zum Museum. Der Frühstückstrakt und das Frühstück. Die freundlichen Mitarbeiter

The gardens, food and cleanliness, the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
No wardrobe in the room
The room lived up to its superior name it was beautiful

Everything especially the gardens

Gardens were so pretty and the Stables Restaurant had a great atmosphere.
Check in- a little more detail would have been helpful. There were other functions going on which does impact on facilities.
Excellent venue Grounds were stunning Staff was fantastic Food was really nice

Perfect location for visiting Beamish Museum. Super building and grounds. Very good value, very clean.
Nice location beautiful building and grounds with well kept gardens. Nicely kept inside. Friendly staff and helpful. The food - breakfast and the evening meal were excellent. Fast wifi and 4 EV charging points running at 22Kw. Enjoyable stay right next door to Beamish Museum.
Nothing
Beautiful setting and location. Restaurant is a bonus.
Breakfast - would prefer to order and pay for what I order instead of a set price including getting your own drinks and other bits. (Or at least given the option, I hate buffet style)
Enjoyed the breakfast
Beautiful setting, friendly staff
Unfortunately there was a noisy fairground ride for a party, but staff did apologise
Beautiful hotel in stunning grounds. Fabulous food in The Stables restaurant. Would love to return one day.
No negatives at all
Pleasant, polite & friendly staff. Bright, clean comfortable twin room. Lovely stables restaurant. Good menu. Food was excellent. Opted for brunch in Cafe/bar rather than full cooked breakfast. Great location for Beamish Museum.
Nil to report,
Beautiful gardens and flowers
Nothing
The room, the restaurant and the location were very nice. In particular the restaurant, we went for curry night and it didnt disappoint!
Our main concern, which practically ruined our evening was the fact there was a fun fair on the grounds which our room looked on to. It was incredibly loud. All we could hear was kids screaming and heavy bass pumping through the room.. We just couldn't relax, we couldn't even watch the TV it was that loud. This didn end until 11pm. We were then woken up by the fire alarm, which lasted 30 seconds but this went off at 12am! It was a terrible night. We really should have been told this was going on, they shouldn't have given us a room facing the grounds if they knew this was happening, we would have asked to switch but it was too late in the evening to change.
Location
Lift not accessible to all floors
Grounds all looked after
For me nothing to dislike
Staff and room
The shower The cubicle was so small you could not turn round You turn shower on open door and straight away you are hit by water Could not wash you feet as no room to bend over The bathroom was great lovely tiling and shower shampoo
History, beautiful grounds, location and staff
Nothing
Lovely room and staff. The evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was very good.
Stunning location, building has history & twist with modern architecture Stunning grounds. Rooms were beautiful decorated, super clean.
Can’t find nothing to fault.
Beautiful decor , very clean and brilliant staff
N.A
The property is very grand and the communal areas well maintained
The deluxe double bedroom did not replicate any of the photos on their website (room 215). The room was small, had mismatching furniture and the bed was a divan bed and mattress with no headboard, making it feel very much like a bedsit.
We had our wedding at Beamish! It was amazing
Nothing - everything was just perfect
The Stables Restraunt was an excelent setting for Breakfast and Dinner with a very good choice of food The room was of good size with every thing you needed for your stay, and very nice views over the gardens although not used on this visit very nice facilities for all functions
Very friendly and professional staff in all areas of the Hotel very nice gardens to walk and sit out in the Hotel is just 5min from Beamish Museum which we visited on this occation
The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was very good. Had lunch on day of arrival in the stables and it was lovely. Drinks in the evening in the bar reasonably priced. Room was spacious we stayed in a deluxe twin.
Nothing realy all good.
The staff at Beamish Hall were exceptional. I booked a room for my daughter and husband who were travelling to the North East for my daughter's hospital treatment - this led to some specific needs we had. The staff and hotel went above and beyond to meet these needs. My daughter said she felt like a princess and that this was the best hotel in the world (high praise from an 8 year old). Beyond this, the hotel is in a beautiful setting, the room was lovely and upgraded. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The food was amazing and the restaurant was nicely busy. Facilities were exceptional and again staff went above and beyond when we needed extra things not normally expected in a room. Communication with the hotel before arrival was clear, helpful, friendly and prompt. We can't thank you all enough and we will definitely be back!
